Queen of Villains - Chapter 99

Prince Kite visited the Sinope Mansion as promised.

To keep up with the setting that he was in love with Emily, he also had a large bouquet of flowers in one hand.

"Thank you."

Emily accepted the flowers he gave her in a natural manner.

Since she knew it was all an act, she didn't feel particularly burdened by Prince Kite's gift.

Among them, only Killian was watching the two from a crooked posture, radiating a black aura.

“There’s no need to bring something like that.”

“Haha, sorry.”

Kite tried to show that he was sorry, but the smile on his face remained.

“But it would be difficult to come up with a more natural excuse to meet the Marquis than this.”

Kite was feeling proud of his own extraordinary ability.

“...Please follow me for now.”

Killian still had a displeased expression on his face as he took Kite to the reception room.

There were three people in the living room: Killian, Kite, and Emily.

“But how do you two know each other?”

Emily had always been fascinated by the relationship between the two people who seemed to be close friends.

'Mafia boss of the Vancent Empire', 'Second Prince of the Robert Empire'. Judging by their apparent titles and positions, no connection between the two men seemed apparent.

“Haven’t you heard from Marquis Starr yet?”

“Yes, I asked the Prince to tell me the story himself.”

At Emily's words, Prince Kite smiled awkwardly.

“It seems the Marquis is determined to humiliate me by making me explain it with my own mouth.”

Killian shrugged.

There was no grand reason; Killian just didn't want to tell Emily about other men.

Finally, Prince Kite sighed and opened his mouth.

“When I was a teenager, I ran away from the palace to rebel against my older brother’s bullying.”

The rumor that the brothers were not on good terms was so well known that it reached even neighboring countries.

“But as soon as I arrived at the port of Bansent, all our money was stolen.”

“Oh, like that.”

Emily frowned and focused on his story.

“I had pride in being a member of the royal family, so I couldn’t sleep on the street, so I went to an inn.”

At that time, Kite had the naive idea that if he revealed that he was the Prince of the Robert Empire, they would just let him sleep.

***

“Yes? Are you talking about the Prince from Robert?”

“Yes.”

“No, but why did Your Highness the Prince come to this shabby place?”

Kite felt relieved by the innkeeper's concern for him.

"I ran into some thieves at the port, and now I'm broke. Give me a few days to stay, and I'll make sure you get your money back when I get back to my homeland."

“Ugh, really... what should I say now?”

At first, the innkeeper was puzzled by Kite's cute appearance, but his expression changed when he heard that he would pay later.

"If you're going to talk nonsense like that, then just get out of here! I'm already depressed because business is bad, and it's been a while since I've seen such a crazy person."

“How rude! Do you know who I am?”

“What kind of shameless, shameless thing is this?”

The innkeeper looked bored, as if there were more than one or two of these people.

The two people's commotion drew the attention of those eating on the first floor.

“Did you hear? I’m Prince Robert.”

“What? Hahaha.”

“But what’s wrong with your face?”

"If you're handsome and broke, you'd be perfect for making money by going to a brothel. Hey! Stop begging here and go somewhere like that!"

“Hahaha, that’s exactly where it’s at!”

Kite felt humiliated and angry at the obscene remarks being made about him.

“Or can you come into our room now?”

Eventually, Kite exploded at those words and ran towards the man in an instant, punching him in the face.

The man, who was caught off guard, covered his face and swore.

“This crazy kid!”

“I tried to be nice to you, but it didn’t work!”

The guests staying at the inn near the port were either travelers or groups of people who would hang around doing drugs or commit robberies.

Unfortunately, the person whom Kite touched was the latter.

They were originally people who would start a fight just by making eye contact, so it would be best not to associate with them, but Kite, who had only just arrived in Bansent, had no way of knowing about them.

Kite was unable to put up a proper fight and was brutally assaulted by them.

“What are you so angry about, you weakling?”

People who saw the scene were afraid of retaliation and did not even think of reporting it to the police, so they took refuge in their rooms.

At that time, when everyone was turning away, the person who saved Kite was none other than Killian.

“Why don’t you stop? I want to eat quietly.”

“Who are you to interfere?”

The man who had been punched by Kite early on reacted the most violently.

He kicked the table where Killian was eating without fear, and the plates of food fell to the floor with a loud crash.

Killian stood up with an annoyed sigh.

Eventually, food splattered all over his pants, making a mess.

Killian attacked the man's stomach in an instant, leaving him no time to defend himself.

"Ugh!"

The man, who was hit in a vital spot, rolled on the floor and lost consciousness without even being able to scream properly.

His colleagues watched this unfold with dumbfounded faces.

“Is he dead?”

“No, I don’t know.”

The men unconsciously took a step back at the sight of his cold face and threatening aura, which made it seem as if not a single drop of blood would come out even if pricked with a needle.

“I’ll just let it go this time.”

“Tch, you should know you’re lucky.”

They pretended not to be scared and tried to leave the inn with the bravado of a thug.

“You’re just going to leave? You have to pay for food and clothes.”

Killian said that, locked the entrance to the inn, and walked slowly towards Kite.

Kite's heart pounded with fear as he saw Killian suddenly coming towards him.

He grabbed Kite's chin and turned it around, then opened his mouth.

“And I have to pay for this little kid’s medical expenses, too.”

It would have been natural for Kite to feel hurt by the word "kid," but at that moment, Killian was nothing short of a savior to him, so he could easily overlook such a choice of words.

“What are you saying?”

“Hey, you should have been a little more blunt when we were watching.”

Killian was alone, but his side had four men, not counting his fallen comrades.

The situation would be different if that tall man, who was somehow scary, asked for money.

The four exchanged glances and then rushed at Killian at once.

Billy, who was the leader among them, was the first to throw a punch at Killian.

But the fist was quickly snapped back before it could reach Killian.

Soon, Billy's head hit the wall with a blunt impact. The impact sent a jolt through his head, darkened his vision, and left him unable to open his eyes.

Billy lay on the floor, blinking slowly until the dizziness subsided.

How much time had passed? As the tinnitus subsided and his vision cleared, he began to see his surroundings.

“Oh my god... what is this?”

His comrades were already unconscious and covered in blood.

Meanwhile, Killian buttoned up his wrist leisurely, without a single breath out of breath.

“Are you awake?”

Killian spoke to Billy, who had opened his eyes.

'That's a monster.'

Billy was horrified when he noticed that he had opened his eyes when he wasn't even looking at him.

“I think our conversation is over, but would you mind paying the bill?”

“Yes, yes! Here it is!”

Billy wanted to get out of this place quickly.

The man was not someone they would dare to touch.

Killian snatched the money bag Billy took out of his arms and walked towards Kite.

“Is this enough?”

He also gave Kite some money.

“...I will definitely repay this favor. Please tell me where and who you are.”

Killian looked at Kite for a long time with an unreadable expression before opening his mouth.

“Are you really Prince Robert?”

Kite took out the necklace he had tucked under his clothes and showed it to him.

“It is the jewel of the Robert family.”

Killian chuckled at that sight.

“You must have absolutely no learning ability to take out a jewel from a place like this.”

Kite said, putting the necklace back into his bosom.

"I will return to the palace and visit Vancent again as soon as I am ready. How can I repay your kindness?"

“If you want to repay the favor, go find Killian at Granville Racecourse.”

***

That was Kite and Killian's first meeting.

After that, Kite really met Killian again at Granville Racecourse, and their relationship has continued to this day.

“So what are you two planning now?”

At Emily's question, Killian and Kite exchanged glances.

Today was the day he promised to tell Emily everything.

“The Marquis should tell this story himself.”

Kite pulled back as if he was going to fall.

Finally, Killian's mouth opened heavily with a sigh.

“Do you remember asking how to rebel in the Sinope territory?”

Emily was surprised when Killian casually mentioned 'treason' in front of Kite.

But judging by the lack of change in Kite's expression, it seemed like he already knew Killian was plotting treason.

Emily's expression darkened as soon as she realized that fact.

"Are you two going together? I don't think it's a good idea to rely on the power of the Robert Empire."

“I am not seeking to borrow the power of the Robert Empire.”

Kite said firmly.

“No one in the Imperial family of the Robert Empire knows about this matter except me.”

“Then why on earth...”

Killian continued his explanation at Emily's questioning face.

“I plan to establish Prince Kite as the next Emperor of Vancent.”

"Yes?"

Emily's expression became even worse than before.

“The Prince as Emperor?”

"Yes, Prince Kite is of the Cornier lineage, the legitimate heir to the Vancent royal family. There's absolutely no problem with him being crowned Emperor of Vancent."

Emily also knew the story of Prince Kite well.

Although he was superior to the Crown Prince of the Robert Empire in both character and ability, he was always forced to stand behind him simply because he was the second son.

“But still, the Prince has lived in the Robert Empire all his life.”

She began to doubt whether Prince Kite could truly rule this country with affection.

"I also don't want the current Emperor to remain in that position. But I'm not sure if you, Your Highness, are the right person for the position... Honestly, I'm not sure."

Emily confidently expressed her opinion, but also kept an eye on Prince Kite's expression.

Fortunately, Prince Kite was only embarrassed and didn't seem that offended by Emily's words.

Prince Kite, who had been lost in thought for a moment, soon opened his mouth with a smile on his face.

"I was short-sighted. I should have been someone who gave the people of the Vancent Empire confidence."

And then he turned his gaze towards Killian.

“I missed that part because those who share my views are so disloyal to the empire.”

Killian looked at Kite with an uncomfortable expression, but he had already turned his head to Emily.

“Thank you, Madam, for enlightening me.”

Emily nodded with an embarrassed face at the rather polite apology.

“Then, ma’am, could you introduce me to the Vancent Empire yourself?”

"Yes?"

When Emily was left speechless in embarrassment, Kite chuckled.

“If what you say is true, Madam, then I am someone who covets the throne without even knowing much about Vancent.”

“I didn’t think about it that much... but I won’t deny it.”

Kite burst out laughing again at Emily's honesty.

“It’s a matter of humility.”

Killian, who was listening to him from the side, looked at Kite as if asking what kind of nonsense he was talking about.

“If I properly cause a scandal here, wouldn’t the Emperor of Vancent be able to stop suspecting me?”
