Queen of Villains - Chapter 94

The atmosphere within the Giuliano organization was practically on thin ice, especially after Chiron's body was delivered.

“Bring more alcohol!”

"All right."

Giuliano's boss was already on his second bottle of liquor.

Since he had kidnapped Madame Starr with the intention of starting an all-out war anyway, he didn't care if his identity was revealed.

But if the kidnapping had failed, the story would have been different.

That was because it was a situation where there were more losses than gains.

“Rex, is that kid out of his mind?”

“Yes. Should I bring him?”

“Bring him here right now.”

One of the members of the organization found him tied up on the mountain and shivering and brought him to headquarters.

After a while, a very exhausted Rex was dragged inside by another member of the organization.

'I'd rather die in the mountains.'

He didn't want to die at the hands of Giuliano Boss, who was known for his cruelty.

“Rex.”

“Yes, Mateo.”

Rex answered with his head bowed and trembling.

“I called you because I still don’t quite understand. How can you not keep an eye on a single noblewoman?”

“That, that’s Raminis...”

“My nephew?”

'Oh dear, maybe we shouldn't have just mentioned Raminis?'

Rex swallowed thickly.

“That poor child lost his precious life because he couldn’t properly look after even one woman.”

Mateo never spared his nephew.

That was all just a prelude to Mateo's efforts to corner Rex.

"Well, Madame Starr's skills were better than I thought. Judging by the fact that she immediately subdued Raminis and escaped..."

"Stop."

Mateo interrupted Rex a second time.

"Don't you even check the skill level of the person you're kidnapping? You must have known full well that that woman can use a gun."

So, we searched her belongings and took out the gun! Rex felt wronged.

But saying this was pointless.

He'll hear about those idiots who screwed up by a woman without a gun.

"This incident has definitely made me realize that Giuliano's capos are worse than I thought."

At those words, even the other members of the organization nearby gulped in tension.

“I was foolish to try to deal with Killian with these guys.”

Underboss Nigel, who was standing behind, looked at Mateo with worried eyes.

Meanwhile, the boss's position was greatly shaken by attacks from other organizations.

With the committee meeting just around the corner, being elected as the next committee chair seemed a long way off.

He thought he had called him to punish Rex, but surprisingly, Mateo sent him away again.

With so many members of the organization dead or injured from repeated attacks, the situation was such that even a single member was needed.

“Oh, thank you!”

Rex, who was lucky enough to survive, kept shaking his head.

“It’s noisy, so get out quickly.”

"All right."

As the rest of the crew left, only Mateo and Nigel remained in the room.

"Boss."

Nigel called Mateo.

“What do you plan to do about the next chairmanship?”

"We have to register as a candidate. Can't we just deal with the rest of the candidates later?"

As expected, it was a very Mateo-like thought.

"But the three organizations have joined forces. Aren't you taking too risky a step against them?"

“Or should I kill the next chairman and become the chairman myself?”

"That's a good idea," Mateo chuckled, taking a sip of his drink.

“Then you won’t be showing up at this committee meeting either?”

“Yes, you go instead. I’ll sit behind you wearing a mask.”

Nigel looked quite uneasy when he was told that he would not reveal his identity even at the meeting to elect the chairman.

“You will be at a great disadvantage.”

But still, Mateo's resolve was firm.

"It's not time yet. I need to manipulate the situation a little more to my liking before I make a move."

Ever since the previous boss brought Mateo in as the next boss, Mateo has always been active with a mask on his face.

Especially, the mask worn outside was made of human skin, like the one Chiron wore, so it was difficult to notice.

And the reason why Mateo was operating under such a covert identity was that he had a separate identity that operated in the underworld.

Finally, the day of the committee meeting.

The four major mafia organizations and seven mafia groups gathered in one place.

Only the boss, underboss, and consigliere of each organization were allowed to sit inside the conference room, and the rest of the people had to wait in a place prepared outside.

“You made such boasts, but this time, instead of the real boss, isn’t there an underboss in the Giuliano organization?”

Endymion whispered to Messina.

“I told you to just wait and see, so that’s what happened.”

Messina clearly thought that the real boss of the Giuliano organization was among those Nigel had brought.

In particular, this was an important day for registering candidates for the chairmanship.

Meanwhile, Killian, Giovanni, and Pete also entered the conference room.

“Are you here?”

Endymion was the first to recognize them and greet them.

“Hey, Killian!”

Messina also welcomed them.

The Starr family entered the conference room and sat down, staring coldly at the Giuliano organization.

“I heard your wife is safe, that’s good.”

“You guys have worked hard.”

Seeing the friendly atmosphere of the other three organizations, excluding the Giuliano Organization, the minds of the other seven organizations also became busy.

The Giuliano organization still sat there with an expression on their face that made it impossible to tell what they were thinking.

“We will start by selecting the candidate for committee chairman.”

The person who conducted the meeting was Marcelo of the Bondea organization, one of the seven lower organizations.

“If you wish to register as a candidate, please place your seal in this box.”

Although the chairmanship was open to all organization bosses, no one actually registered outside of the four major organizations.

"For a moment."

Messina stopped Nigel from throwing the ball and spoke to Marcelo.

“I have an objection.”

“Yes, please speak.”

Everyone looked at Messina with puzzled eyes for her sudden and impulsive actions.

“Why can’t the underboss register as a candidate instead?”

As she said that, Messina met Nigel's eyes.

“Especially those like the Giuliano organization who ignore committee rules and commit illegal acts on their own.”

“Watch your words, Messina.”

Nigel shot Messina a murderous look, but Messina didn't even blink.

"You're the one who should keep your mouth shut and stay still. Even if the Starrs cut off your heads right here, you wouldn't have anything to say."

It was said with Emily's kidnapping in mind.

“I have no intention of letting this pass.”

Pete of the Starr organization spoke with a relaxed expression.

Nigel sighed and opened his mouth.

"I apologize for that. It was something the kids below did without thinking, so we didn't even know."

“Aha, you’re going to get out like that?”

"Instead, didn't you kill the children of our organization? Don't you think it's too vulgar for three organizations to conspire to threaten us like this?"

“It’s so funny that the word ‘vulgar’ comes out of your mouths.”

Messina laughed as if she was dumbfounded, then looked around at the crowd and asked.

“Anyway, no one wants to vote without knowing the candidate’s face, right?”

The crowd murmured and glanced toward Giuliano. Public sentiment seemed to have shifted toward Messina's opinion.

“Nigel, go tell your boss straight.”

Killian's voice, which had been silent, echoed softly throughout the conference room.

"Stop your nonsense and reveal your true identity. We won't stop attacking until you do."

As he spoke, Killian's gaze was directed at Mateo, who was sitting next to Nigel, his identity hidden.

“Now that I think about it, the leather covering your face is pretty flimsy.”

Nigel flinched and looked at Mateo, who was on his left. How could he have noticed that he was covered so perfectly?

“Are you Giuliano’s boss?”

The conference room began to murmur at Killian's remarks.

“Hmm, why did you think so?”

Mateo asked, wearing a mask.

“Your expression changed a little while ago, but your facial muscles didn’t seem to move at all.”

“As expected, you are sharp.”

Killian frowned as he heard his voice. It sounded familiar, as if he'd heard it somewhere before.

“Judging by your expression, I think you’re starting to get a sense of who I am.”

"What is it? This's voice... I'm sure I've heard it before."

Killian tried to recall his memories, but no one came to mind clearly.

“Oh, I guess you don’t remember.”

Mateo, who had been looking at Killian as if he was laughing, opened his mouth this time towards Messina.

"Messina? I never liked you from the start. I hated being called the boss of one of the four major organizations alongside a woman."

“What can I do if I’m so good and you guys are so bad?”

Messina listened intently to Mateo's words.

"Skill? So I gave you a chance with an open mind, and as expected, you failed, right?"

“You guys have failed more than I have, so what are you talking about?”

"In the meantime, you were unfaithfully attached to Starr. This is why you shouldn't use women in important matters."

Honestly, she's heard so many repertoires like that that Messina wasn't particularly impressed by it.

"Are you so full of loyalty that you hide behind a mask and do your work? It seems like you only do big things in the bathroom."

Messina's words caused laughter to erupt in the conference room.

The Giuliano gang members, who had become the butt of ridicule in an instant, were shaking their fists as if they were about to pull out guns.

“Well, that’s fine.”

Surprisingly, Mateo stepped back obediently.

"Our Giuliano family will not be registering as candidates for this committee chairmanship. So, is it okay if I don't reveal my face today?"

"Are you really going to remain anonymous forever? That wouldn't be good for you either, would it?"

"I'll show you my face when I want. Now isn't the time."

Endymion looked at Mateo with a rotten expression.

It was a moment of tarnishing the reputation of the mafia that such a braggart was leading one of the four major organizations.

“Seeing you hide your face so desperately, I guess you act like a very different person outside.”

Pete asked with sharp eyes.

“Are you active in social circles?”
