Queen of Villains - Chapter 122

Among the nobles who valued legitimacy, there was a more welcoming atmosphere toward Prince Kite, who was of Cornier blood, than toward the Manfredi royal family.

Prince Kite, who had won the nobles over to his side more easily than expected, was ready to return to his homeland with a light heart.

“I hope things work out well. When are you leaving?”

Emily asked Prince Kite.

“Actually, I’m leaving tomorrow.”

“That fast?”

“Yes, are you disappointed?”

At Prince Kite's words, Killian immediately gave him a sharp look.

He was already in a bad mood after getting beaten up by Enoch, whom he usually ignored, and he thought that he should kill Prince Kite halfway, even though he was his ally.

“Huh? No. It’s not that I’m sad, it’s just that it happened suddenly.”

Killian's momentum finally subsided at Emily's quick denial.

“It’s a bit sudden, isn’t it?”

Prince Kite ignored Killian and continued his conversation, still smiling at Emily.

"There's a lot to do there, too. I should have gone back a long time ago, but I've been putting it off."

“Is that so?”

Emily listened quietly to Prince Kite's story, then suddenly asked a question.

"But there wasn't much of a reaction from the temple or the royal family? The news of the corruption broke."

At Emily's sharp observation, Killian and Prince Kite met eyes silently.

Because of that, the Giuliano organization invaded the Delina House today, but he couldn't tell the truth.

Because it could have triggered Emily's trauma, as she remembered being kidnapped by the Giuliano organization.

Killian answered slurredly, dabbing his lips with a napkin.

“They must be making their own countermeasures.”

“Do you suspect that they are behind this incident?”

“That’s probably true. That’s why we’re trying to expedite the process.”

The weight of the word ‘grand undertaking’ was considerable.

Emily took a sip of the wine in front of her with a hardened face.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but if the Prince becomes the Emperor of Vancent, what will become of us?”

Emily asked Kite cautiously.

“Of course, Marquis Starr will reclaim the title of Duke of Velvet.”

If he were to recover the Velvet family's wealth and lands, in addition to the wealth he has accumulated so far, Killian would become the wealthiest noble in the empire.

“And you have to help me with my work.”

“That wasn’t discussed.”

Prince Kite swallowed a laugh as Killian cut him off. Even if he said that, Killian would still be working by his side.

Emily said, trying to remain calm.

“No one should get hurt.”

She was especially afraid of losing the Starr family, who were already like family to her.

Killian noticed Emily's feelings and held her hand as if telling her not to worry.

After eating dessert, Prince Kite went up to the study with Killian, saying he would borrow him for a while.

Emily, left alone, went into the room and called Cezanne.

“What is it, ma’am?”

Cezanne was not present at mealtimes and was completely unaware of the conversation that took place there.

Emily asked, deliberately keeping a calm tone, as if she knew everything.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me what happened at Delina House?”

“Are you talking about remodeling?”

“Not remodeling.”

“Then what are you talking about...?”

“Aren’t they remodeling the Delina House because of the accident?”

As expected, Cezanne rolled her eyes in embarrassment and said nothing.

After breaking the news about the corruption, Killian was injured, and the Delina House went into construction.

Even though she didn't know the outside circumstances, Emily couldn't help but think that the three incidents were connected.

“Is the temple behind it?”

Cezanne thought that since Madam knew that much, she must have already heard some of the story during dinner.

“Yes, I’m sorry I can’t tell you the truth.”

Cezanne continued, her head bowed.

“It hadn’t been long since something unpleasant had happened with the Giuliano organization, and I thought Madam would be very surprised if you found out they were invading again, so I had no choice but to keep quiet.”

Another one of the Giuliano Organization's doings, Emily sighed.

“Are there any injured people on our side?”

"The injuries are minor. No one was killed or seriously injured, so there's no need to worry."

It was a fight that would have required rebuilding the club, so it was fortunate that it ended there.

“Who hurt him?”

“He is the boss of the Giuliano organization.”

"What?"

Emily furrowed her brow in disbelief.

“If you’re the boss of the Giuliano organization, are you talking about Count Enoch Blois?”

“You knew, Madam. That he was the real boss of the Giuliano organization.”

'But he's that strong?'

Seeing Emily's puzzled expression, Cezanne added an explanation.

"I don't know how skilled their boss is yet, but he's wearing a suspicious device. It seems he's probably been aided by a magic stone."

Emily touched her forehead after hearing Cezanne's explanation.

The Giuliano organization uses all kinds of dirty tricks.

But since he was receiving help from the temple, she was worried that Killian's plans might be ruined because of them.

Now it's time to part ways with Kite.

“Are you leaving right away?”

Emily asked as she saw him off.

“Yes, we’ve decided to take a boat across tomorrow morning. We’ll find lodging nearby and sleep there tonight.”

Killian raised an eyebrow at Kite's words.

“Is that okay?”

Kite chuckled as he realized why he was asking the question.

He mentioned that when he ran away from home and came to Vansent, he was beaten by gangsters at the port.

“Do you still think I was a kid back then?”

“If that’s the case, then that’s good.”

Killian smiled back and shook his hand.

“See you soon.”

“Yes, I will be back.”

Emily and Killian returned to the mansion after seeing Kite get into the carriage.

Emily, who had entered the hallway, turned around and looked at Killian.

“Why are you like that?"

Killian looked at her with questioning eyes, and Emily stroked his left cheek with her thumb.

“Ugh.”

“There was a wound here, too.”

Killian looked at Emily with surprised eyes, cupping his cheek.

“Can you stop trying to deceive me and just tell me the truth?”

“This wound was also caused by touching a weapon...”

Emily immediately cut him off.

“I heard that the Giuliano organization invaded the Delina House.”

“How do you not know that?”

Killian immediately looked up and looked for Alvin.

Alvin, who was standing awkwardly on the stairs, shook his head violently as if he felt wronged when his eyes met Killian's.

“Is it important to find out who told me this now?”

Killian looked down again, his gaze stinging at Emily's cold tone.

“Follow me up to my room. I have something to tell you.”

Emily went up to the second floor first.

Alvin quickly fled to another floor, fearing that sparks might fly at him.

The sight of Killian's back quietly following Emily up the stairs looked somehow pitiful.

Emily entered the room and sat down at the table next to the window with a serious expression.

Cezanne stood behind her, glancing at the boss's face with anxious eyes.

'The culprit was Cezanne.'

At Cezanne's suspicious attitude, Killian swallowed a sigh and sat down in front of Emily.

Cezanne carefully poured tea into their glasses, keeping an eye on Killian until the very end.

“Did the part I touched hurt a lot?”

Emily asked with a slightly softened tone.

“It doesn’t hurt much.”

“I’m sorry for suddenly touching you.”

“No. It really didn’t hurt.”

He was more surprised than in pain.

Emily looked at Killian's wounds one more time for no reason.

She was truly prepared to send Enoch Blois to hell if it meant even a scar on that handsome face.

“Cezanne, it’s okay to go out now.”

At Emily's words, Cezanne's expression strangely brightened.

She's been wanting to get out of this uncomfortable situation for a while now.

“Then I will try to go out.”

Killian felt annoyed at Cezanne for leaving the room as if she had been waiting for it.

As soon as she left the room, Emily got to the point.

“You probably didn’t publish the article about the attack on the Delina House to hide it from me, did you?”

“...Yes.”

Emily sighed briefly.

She expected that to happen, but no matter what, he was willing to give up on such a good story just to hide it from her.

Emily's mouth, which had been lost in thought for a moment, opened again.

“And anyway, as long as there’s a temple behind it, even if we report the Giuliano Organization, the police will probably just ignore it.”

“Yes, that will be the case.”

If so, the Giuliano organization will ultimately face no punishment for this incident.

No matter how much she thought about it, there was no way to punish them other than to immediately tarnish their reputation.

“How about publishing an article after reporting the Giuliano organization and seeing that the police really don’t take any action?”

It was a pretty good idea. Then, people would naturally suspect the security forces surrounding Giuliano's organization, and they would surely assume someone was behind it.

Now that even Emily knows, there's no reason to hide it any longer...

“I’ll have Pete prepare more thoroughly.”
