Queen of Villains - Chapter 113

After Killian became the chairman of the committee, the work of pressuring the Giuliano organization began in earnest.

He pushed Matteo to the limit by damaging the business that only the Giuliano family, among the mafia families, was running.

That very business was an illegal prostitution and slave market.

But it wasn't easy for Matteo to counter Killian's decision.

The Starr organization dealt a blow to Giuliano's illegal operations by reporting them to the police, as it was difficult to find evidence of their illegal activities to attack the Starr organization in the same way.

Moreover, the other three organizations, including Killian, have also recently undergone a major reorganization of their operations into a more legal form.

Matteo was indignant at the situation where he could not find any opening.

“Today, DeVecchio and his gang were arrested.”

At Nigel's report, Mateo threw his glass.

Since the lower-level members were the ones committing the direct crimes anyway, and Matteo was only in a position to receive the money they offered, cutting off the tail was possible.

But the very act of Killian touching him in this way was tantamount to hurting his pride.

“Nigel, did you know Killian was an orphan?”

“Nothing is known about the family.”

“I gave the order to find it, and you still can’t find it!”

Blood flowed from Nigel's forehead, where he had been hit by the corner of the book thrown by Matteo.

"I'm sorry."

“Look for places where he lived as a child, and anyone who might know about his past.”

"All right."

Nigel quickly left the room so as not to upset Matteo any further.

Matteo got up from his seat, banging his fist on the desk nervously.

He hadn't even been able to deal with Killian as he had boasted to the Crown Prince, and now he was being counterattacked by him, so his pride was completely crushed.

"Wait, Killian. I'll soon take away your chairmanship."

Matteo clenched his fists, his teeth clenched. His fingernails dug into his flesh, drawing blood, but he was so consumed by rage that he felt nothing.

Emily visited the exhibition with Killian.

“If you’re going to keep making that sullen expression on your face, why don’t you go home first?”

At those words, Killian immediately shook his head and controlled his expression.

“No. I also enjoy looking at paintings.”

Emily still looked suspicious, but she entered the entrance without saying anything.

Today was the day Louis's paintings were exhibited at the Garnier Salon.

Among painters, it is a romantic dream to hold an exhibition at the Garnier Salon at least once before they die, and by that measure, Louis achieved early success at a young age.

“Emily!”

Louis, who was running towards Emily from afar, stopped when he saw Killian standing right next to her.

He greeted them awkwardly, his expression clearly flustered, as if he hadn't expected Killian to come with her.

"Here."

Killian placed a bouquet of flowers in Louis' arms with a stern face.

Since he could never bear to see Emily handing the bouquet to Louis directly, he rudely threw it to him as if he were forcing him into a hug.

“Oh, thank you.”

Louis forced a smile at Killian and then turned his gaze back to Emily.

“Thank you for coming.”

“Of course we should come.”

“Shall I explain the work?”

Louis asked cautiously, watching Killian's expression.

“You must be busy greeting other people. Aren’t we taking up too much of your time?”

At those words, Louis checked his wristwatch.

"There's still plenty of time. I just need to worry about the people involved, but there's still plenty of time left before they're supposed to arrive."

“We came at a good time.”

Emily met Killian's eyes and smiled brightly.

“That’s fortunate.”

'Even if I get the timing right, I got it completely wrong.'

Inwardly expressing his discontent, Killian forced a smile at Emily and then turned his gaze forward again.

Paintings were hung on both sides of the long corridor.

Killian frowned slightly, as if he didn't like it.

'Why on earth did you draw so many pictures?'

He felt like half a day would pass listening to the explanation of that picture.

“Then I will take you this way.”

Louis led them inside, still keeping an eye on Killian.

But have you only seen one or two works?

Contrary to Louis's wish to explain the painting himself, the officials arrived earlier than the appointed time.

“What should I do if I feel sorry?”

“No, it’s okay. Go ahead. I’ll take my time and enjoy the painting.”

Louis awkwardly greeted the two people and went to the people waiting for him.

As expected of Emily, who usually likes to draw, she continued to look at Louis's drawings with a rather serious attitude.

Killian walked slowly, looking at the paintings on the other wall so as not to disturb her appreciation.

They usually think of the mafia as a group that deals in drugs, violence, and murder, but they also had a keen interest in art.

The only difference between him and ordinary people like Emily is that he considers art to be an important source of income.

“He draws quite well.”

Louis's paintings showed a lively touch, as if each brushstroke was filled with emotion.

He would have been supportive enough if he hadn't gotten involved with Emily.

As he was looking at the paintings, he stopped in front of one.

“This picture is...”

Killian's eyes narrowed.

On a vast green field, a girl in a white dress, with a flower crown on her head, was looking straight ahead and smiling.

Her voluminous chestnut hair, flowing down to her waist, her sky-blue eyes sparkling with water, and her delicate facial features were clearly Emily's.

Ha! Who dares to draw that? Killian felt jealousy and anger welling up inside him.

“What kind of picture are you looking at like that?”

Emily, who had come up behind him, asked in a curious tone.

“It’s nothing.”

Killian placed his hand on Emily's shoulder, turning her back as if to obscure the picture as much as possible.

He was trying very hard not to show his excitement in front of Emily.

Killian asked, loosening his cravat slightly to cool down.

“Do you have any pictures you like?”

He had absolutely no intention of hanging that damn painting in his mansion, but he figured it would be the only way he could get out of this damned exhibition hall faster.

Yeah, as long as it's not that picture, let's just buy any picture and leave.

“Will you buy me a painting?”

Emily looked up at him with sparkling eyes. It was a gaze that was truly infinitely debilitating.

“Yes, please choose.”

Emily picked a few without hesitation. It seemed she had been thinking about a particular painting for a while.

As soon as the staff showed up, Killian approached Emily and said.

“Let’s go back now.”

"Is it so?"

Emily stopped Killian from taking her out and looked around.

“I should say goodbye before I go.”

Killian followed Emily towards Louis with that same sullen expression again.

He was surrounded by reporters and giving interviews.

“Louis?”

Emily called out, tapping his shoulder.

“We’ll go now.”

“Are you going to go already?”

Louis looked regretful, perhaps because he was sad that he couldn't talk much with Emily.

“Oh! And thank you for buying my paintings.”

“It was thanks to you that I was able to see a good exhibition.”

Emily gently tugged on Killian's collar.

Killian hesitated for a moment, wondering what he should say, and then opened his mouth with a cold, emotional voice.

“I hope you find a muse that suits you quickly.”

A cold sweat ran down Louis's spine.

He thought he knew why he said that. He hadn't expected him to notice, but he thought it was because there was a painting of Emily in the exhibition.

Louis answered, choosing the right words.

“Yes, I am looking for it.”

A murderous look flashed through Killian's eyes, as if he didn't like the answer.

Emily didn't notice it for a moment, but Louis, who was facing him head-on, clearly saw it.

“...very hard.”

Louis added, trying to hide his trembling voice.

Only then did Killian raise the corners of his mouth.

“Well then, that’s good.”

It was the most eerie and dangerous smile he ever seen.

Emily looked at the two men's conversation with curious eyes and asked.

“When did you two become close without me?”

'Does this look familiar to you?'

Her innocent words almost made Louis yell at Emily, his friend, first love, and crush, for the first time.

But Killian shamelessly lied to Emily without changing his expression.

“Your friend is also my friend.”

Then he reached out his hand to Louis, whose expression was rotten.

"Anyway, it was a wonderful exhibition. I hope you enjoy the rest of your schedule."

"...Thank you."

Louis also barely managed to extend his hand and shake it.

And yet, once again, there was no denying that Killian was a handsome man, even to a man's eyes.

Louis now watched the two of them walk affectionately down the hallway together.

He resolved never to have any more regrets about Emily and returned to the waiting reporters.

Emily's expression brightened, and she looked much more relaxed than when they last met at the Sinope estate.
