Queen Of Villains - Chapter 64

Killian looked at Chili, who had come to find him, with a questioning look and asked.

“Chili, what are you doing here?”

“Your Grace, I have come to see you because I feel this is a situation that requires my attention.”

Chili's expression was quite serious.

“It’s about Madam.”

The word "Madam" always made him lose his composure. Killian couldn't hide his impatience as he questioned her.

“What happened to my wife?”

“That is...”

There was no one in the room, but Chili spoke in a low voice, hoping someone might hear.

“Madam disguised herself and infiltrated the police.”

"What?"

Killian frowned deeply as he spoke, as it was difficult to understand at first glance, given his common sense.

“What do you mean, she joined the police?”

"It's literally true. She personally entered the investigation site to clear Your Grace's name."

Killian looked confused at those words.

Killian got up from his seat and paced around the room, then slammed his fist hard against the wall.

“What the hell are you guys doing that you can’t stop even one thing?”

“Madam's intentions were too strong.”

“You call that an excuse.”

He came back to Chili and slammed his arm on the table.

“Stop it right now.”

“But, Madam...”

“But there is no such thing.”

Killian's eyes glowed red.

“When you decided to tell me this, did you think I would say anything else?”

Chili shook her head. In fact, when she made this decision, everyone in the organization tried to dissuade her. They all knew the nature of their boss, Killian.

But Chili felt compelled to report this incident to Killian. She felt it was unacceptable for something to happen in the organization without the boss's knowledge.

It was also concerning that Emily, an ordinary person, was taking risks on her own, something that even the organization members wouldn't dare do.

Even though she knew there was no way to help Killian, who was already locked in a cell, she told him this... Is she actually making things more complicated?

She's afraid she'll ruin everything, but she's foolishly only worrying about all this now.

“Do the people at headquarters know about this?”

Killian intended to expel Giovanni immediately if they knew.

“No. Neither Giovanni nor Knox... nor anyone at headquarters knows.”

“You guys are having a great time, really.”

Chili, who was bearing Killian's wrath alone, trembled. This was the first time she'd encountered a boss who so genuinely displayed his will to kill.

“If even one strand of Madam’s hair is harmed, none of you will be safe.”

Chili nodded with difficulty, her head barely able to move.

“Tell Giovanni and let him handle it. Tell him I gave the order.”

"All right."

Just then, a guard outside knocked on the door and announced that time was up.

“Tell him not to forget to report to me when things are settled.”

"All right."

After parting ways with Chili and returning to his cell, Killian kicked the wall again, seemingly unable to calm down. How should he accept Emily in such a dangerous situation?

The more Killian thought about it, the more incompetent and pathetic he felt.

Seven years ago, he was imprisoned for the same unjust reason, but he didn't feel as frustrated or heartbroken as he does now. Back then, he was lucky enough to get out with only a short sentence, but now, he had no idea what would happen.

Yes, Killian had made up his mind. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, it seemed like maintaining his marriage with Emily would be difficult.

It was all for her.

The headquarters executives were in a state of panic when they heard the news from Chili.

They ran straight to the Starr mansion.

“Alvin, are you crazy? You should have stopped this.”

Knox started to push Alvin as if he had caught something.

“Madam, what on earth did I hear when you said she was an undercover investigator?”

When Alvin glared at Chili, she flinched and stepped back.

“Alvin, I’m so disappointed in you.”

Giovanni also gave Alvin a sharp scolding.

"But..."

Alvin, who had been quietly listening to their admonition, said as if he felt wronged.

"Madam brought back a lot of information in one day. But, Mr. Giovanni, haven't you missed a single piece of important information in the past few days?"

Giovanni was also offended, but he couldn't say anything about it because it was a harsh remark.

"But didn't you hear what the boss said? Didn't he say that you must protect our lady first and foremost, no matter the circumstances!"

"I know. That's why I gave her a perfect make-up. No one will recognize her."

As soon as Alvin finished speaking, Emily came down to the first-floor lobby.

“...Who are you?”

Giovanni, who was the first to discover her presence, asked in confusion.

Wearing the navy blue uniform of the Knights Templar, which symbolizes the police force, she possessed a deadly and unique charm that was difficult to take one's eyes off of.

"Why are you leaving Madam's room? Did you search Madam's room again this morning?"

Alvin burst out laughing at Chambers' words.

“Look, doesn’t everyone recognize who she is?”

"I didn't know you guys were coming. I have to go to work now. What should I do?"

Knox, who had been listening quietly, realized that the woman's voice was none other than Emily's.

“Are you sure you’re not my lady?”

"Yes, that's right."

The Starr executives all froze at Emily's calm admission.

“Madam, you must stop immediately. Killian is truly worried.”

Giovanni quickly came to his senses and said.

"It's almost over now. All you have to do is participate in the sword fight."

Emily opened her mouth again, covering Giovanni's mouth as he tried to say something again.

"Trust me and let me go just this once. I'll make sure none of you get hurt because of me."

Giovanni also softened to Emily's earnest request.

"I'm not worried about any harm coming to us. I just hope you stay out of harm's way."

"Thank you."

Oh, and then. Emily's mouth opened again.

“Next time we meet, if he asks about me, tell him I threatened you so you wouldn’t stop.”

"Yes?"

"If he can't get you to quit, Giovanni might get fired, too. I'll take responsibility for Giovanni's job and protect him."

Emily confidently walked to work at the police station, as if telling everyone to trust her. Knox grabbed Giovanni's shoulder from behind and said,

“Since even the boss can’t beat the madam, let’s just stay still.”

'I wonder if it's really okay.'

Giovanni looked at Emily's back with mixed emotions.

Today is finally the day to retake the exam.

As she entered the room where the body was, the stench of formalin permeated the air. Charles looked at Emily with concern, but she seemed better than he'd expected.

Emily examined the body with the original autopsy team. She focused on defensive wounds, as John had advised.

There were no defensive marks on Big's hands, and no foreign bodies were found in his fingernails. If he had been killed unexpectedly, there wouldn't have been such a lack of defensive marks.

Emily sprinkled the herbs John had given her on Big's arms and stomach. Traces of rope binding appeared on Big's body.

The autopsy officer, who was watching from the side, tilted his head.

“The binding was done in a very unique way.”

“In what way is that so?”

When Charles asked, he answered shyly.

“Normally, you just bend your arms back and tie only your wrists, but this guy tied his arms, then passed the rope in front of him and tied it once more under his chest.”

At those words, Charles nodded with a knowing expression.

“Do you know anything?”

Emily asked, curious about his expression.

“I know of a group that captures people like this.”

“Who is that?”

“The Giuliano family.”

Emily sighed and nodded.

“...I knew it.”

The coroner, who had been listening to the conversation between the two, had a blank expression on his face.

“So, are you saying there is another real culprit?”

"Yes."

Charles warned him in a low voice.

“First, write up the autopsy report without mentioning the Giuliano family.”

“Yes, yes! I understand.”

“If the conversation we have here leaks out, I can’t guarantee your life.”

The man nodded with his lips tightly pressed together.

After the autopsy was completed, the people left the autopsy room, and Charles and Emily went to have lunch.

“I saw a corpse. Can I eat?”

“Yes, I think it’s okay because I’ve already seen it in pictures many times.”

The two men entered the restaurant together, and Theo Capone was standing in front of them.

“Sir Lovell! I’ve been waiting for you.”

He had been looking only at Emily, but he quickly saluted when he saw Charles standing next to him.

“Meet the captain!”

Charles greeted Theo with a disapproving expression. The three had no choice but to sit down at the same table again.

“Once Big’s trial begins, this case will be over soon.”

Theo looked at Emily with regretful eyes.

“Will Sir Lovell go back to where you came from once this incident is over?”

"Yes."

Charles still watched Theo speak with a trembling look.

“Then where was Sir Lovell’s original department?”

"It's a secretly managed special department. Don't try to find out."

Charles spoke coldly, cutting Emily off.

“If you go back there, will it be difficult to see you again?”

“Isn’t that obvious?”

This time, when Charles spoke instead of Emily, Theo looked at Charles with a strange look.

“I think this is the first time you’ve seen Sir Lovell here, Commander. You seem to know the situation well.”

Charles gulped down water as if his throat was parched.

That was a pretty sharp observation.
