Toto's business was going very well.
Emily and Toto also toured the newly renovated store. It was ten times larger than the previous one.
“I’m going to put a freezer in this empty space.”
Toto spoke with a thrilled expression. He seemed thrilled that his dream was coming true.
“By the way, where did the Marquis go today?”
Toto's question, Emily shrugged as if she didn't know.
“He said he was going to explore the village alone, but I don’t know exactly where he went.”
At the moment, Emily and Toto were wondering. Killian was caught in the carrot field.
“So you’re saying you're Emily’s husband?”
Grandma Juliet looked at Killian with a displeased expression.
She'd heard of the mafia, but what's so special about it? If you look good, you're good. If you're not, you're dead. She wasn't particularly afraid of Killian.
“How many women have you seduced with that handsome face?”
'I'm having trouble seducing the one person who matters most to me.'
Killian swallowed a sigh and avoided answering. No, more than that, he didn't understand why he had been arrested by this old woman and had to be interrogated.
Killian was simply wandering around the Sinope estate, searching for "something." He was caught by a suspicious grandmother and taken to the carrot patch.
“Why aren’t you answering!”
Killian flinched at the grandmother's scream. He was at a loss as to how to deal with this old woman.
“That never happened.”
“Huh, that’s great.”
Grandma spoke softly and handed him a few carrots.
“Follow me in.”
Killian followed the grandmother into the house, his mind filled with questions.
The house seemed to have been built to accommodate the grandmother's physique, so tall Killian had to be careful not to hit his head on the door. The ceiling was low, and his head barely touched the ceiling.
Grandma smiled sinisterly as she looked at Killian.
“The size difference is so big, I think Emily will have a hard time.”
'What does my size have to do with Emily's struggles?'
Killian grumbled inwardly, then realized the meaning, and his face flushed. He tried not to imagine it and placed the carrot on the counter.
'This crazy old hag.'
The grandmother suddenly threw a knife at him, and Killian reflexively grabbed the handle.
“They said he was a mafia guy, but he’s good with knives.”
“What are you doing now?”
Killian asked, his anger subsiding.
“Go ahead and slice those carrots. I need to make carrot soup.”

“Are you telling me to make this now?”
Killian asked in disbelief.
"Emily loves the carrot soup I make. If you make it yourself, you'll be able to make it for her even when you move to the capital."
At those words, Killian remained silent and quietly picked up the carrot.
“Are you sure Emily likes carrot soup?”
“Like it or not, she eats it! That's what will save Emily.”
"If it weren't for you, she wouldn't have had to eat that carrot soup. But what can I do? She's already married."
Grandma kept mumbling something unintelligible.
Killian started chopping carrots, thinking it was just some crazy old woman babbling. Anyway, since Emily liked it, he figured he had to try.
“The water has started to boil, so cut it quickly.”
Killian, still blunt, put the sliced carrots into a pot of boiling water.
The grandmother made vegetable stock with celery, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, etc.
She continued talking to Killian even as she drank water. He leaned against the counter and listened with a slightly weary look on his face.
“Do you love Emily?”
Juliet's face, which had been chattering for a while, suddenly became serious.
"If you didn't marry her out of love, let Emily go as soon as possible. She could die because of you."
Until this point, Killian thought Juliet was saying this because he was a mafia member.
“Don’t worry, that won’t happen.”
Killian dismissed the old woman's concerns with a sour look.
"You can't stop it! Enough! Chop some more of these onions and carrots."
Killian chopped onions and carrots without much resistance. It was something he'd never done before, but he was quite good at it.
Juliet took out another pan, heated it, and sautéed the vegetables Killian had sliced.
Even though Killian pretended to be annoyed, he saw the whole process and remembered it in his head.
Juliet sprinkled a mysterious powder on the vegetable stock she had prepared earlier while pouring it in.
“What is that?”
"Sugar. I'll get some for you before I go, so be sure to add it when you make Emily's carrot soup. Emily needs it."
“It’s okay. There’s plenty of sugar in Starr, too.”
Juliet frowned at those words.
"Does this look like regular sugar? I made it myself, so be sure to use that. Any other sugar and this carrot soup will be nothing but garbage."
‘Oh my, what kind of trash is this...’
Killian, still dumbfounded, began to do other things Juliet had instructed him to do.
The carrot soup is finally done.
"Don't eat it yourself. Just give it to Emily. It's only for one person. And when you get up there, make it just for Emily and let her eat it. This sugar is precious."
It's so lethal that he doesn't want to eat it even if it's put in front of him.
Killian returned to the mansion, packing up the carrot soup and sugar she had provided. He hadn't found what he needed yet, but he needed to feed Emily the freshly made carrot soup.
Anyway, it was a strange day.
When he arrived at the Sinope mansion, Emily had just returned from her outing.
“What is that in your hand?”
Emily looked at Killian's right hand with curious eyes.
“It’s carrot soup.”
“What, carrot soup?”
“It was made by an old woman close to you.”
'You're feeding me this carrot soup again.'
Emily looked at the soup with tired eyes.
“But how did you happen to bring that?”
“I helped make it too.”
The more questions she asked, the more lost she became. Seeing Emily's confused expression, Killian forced himself to hold the carrot soup in her arms.
“It would be a long explanation. Please take a look at my sincerity.”
If Emily doesn't eat, he'll feel wronged for being held captive by that old woman all day.
"...All right."
Seeing Killian's gloomy expression, Emily accepted the carrot soup without asking any more questions.

The next day, before leaving the Sinope estate, Emily attended a tea party hosted by Baroness Roman.
The tea party went smoothly. The refreshments were delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
The attendees of the meeting were genuinely delighted to see that the beloved young lady was leading a quite happy married life.
Because there really wasn't a single wrinkle on Emily's face.
Emily went to see Louis one last time to say hello.
“Louis will be out in the garden.”
The Baroness looked slightly worried as she told her where Louis was.
Because Emily had been feeling unwell lately, ever since she came to the Sinope estate. She seemed worried that she might make a mistake.
Emily looked okay and went out into the garden to find Louis.
As the Baroness had said, he was sitting in the garden, painting. This was where Emily had first spotted Louis painting.
“Louis.”
Emily called out to him cautiously. Louis, perhaps expecting her to come, rose calmly from his chair.
“It’s been a while, Madame Starr.”
Louis, finally coming to his senses, no longer treated Emily like a friend. Emily felt sorry for this, but didn't bother to point it out.
“I found out that the painting I bought was one you drew.”
“...I am grateful.”
“I am the one who should be grateful. For the wonderful pictures you drew.”
Louis tried not to choke up at her words. He couldn't say anything in response, afraid his voice would tremble.
“I hope you become a great artist. Don’t stay in this small town.”
Those words seemed to tell him to forget her and live his own life.
“It seems like you are doing well.”
Louis wanted to make sure Emily was happy so he could make up his mind.
“That’s right. I’m doing very well.”
He smiled bitterly at Emily's unhesitating answer.
“Now I am leaving for the capital again. I came to say goodbye for the last time.”
Emily shook his hand as a friend.
“Stay healthy, Little Rudolph.”
Louis, whose face had been tense the whole time at the nickname he'd been called after so long, relaxed. "Yes, now I should let her go with peace of mind."
“Goodbye, rabbit.”
Louis smiled back and shook Emily's hand.
Killian, who was watching them from afar, held back the urge to jump out of his seat at the sight of them shaking hands.
Emily was taking care of everything herself, and it would have been humiliating for her husband to interfere in their relationship.
Killian tried his best to calm his bubbling stomach. Now, it was finally time to leave for the capital.
'Then I won't have to see that kid's face anymore.'

“Miss, before you go.”
Before they left, the nanny secretly called Emily over and handed her a bottle of medicine.
“What is this?”
“It’s a birth control pill.”
She looked around in surprise. Fortunately, there was no one around.
“I told you I didn’t need this, Nanny!”
"Still, you never know when you might feel a burning sensation, so keep it with you. It would be a shame if you couldn't perform the ritual using pregnancy as an excuse."
“There is really nothing a nanny can’t do.”
Watching the two of them, the nanny had a strange conviction. One day, they would confirm each other's feelings, and soon...
“Now, take it and go. The Marquis will be looking for it.”
So Emily returned to Starr with the birth control pills that her nanny had forced upon her.
