TSFHA - Chapter 2

Two years later.

August 9, 934 Imperial Calendar.

Clank.

“Number 922851, release.”

The heavy iron door opened, and at the guard's call, the man who had been waiting stood up. His large size filled the already cramped cell.

“...”

The guard broke out in a cold sweat at the sight of the man approaching with a threatening look.

With blond hair that resembled the sun and blazing golden eyes, the man resembled a lion, just like his name.

“What are you doing? Let go, quickly.”

As the man casually held out his bound wrists, the guard released the handcuffs.

Prisoner number 922851.

August 5, 922. The mastermind behind the 'Conrad Massacre' that occurred 12 years ago.

He was excommunicated from his family and sentenced to twelve years in prison for the massacre of innocent citizens of Conrad's estates.

He was the son of the Duke of Wassenberg, the real power in the empire, but now he was a mere criminal with no family or surname.

He only received a mere 12 years in prison, which was an absurdly small price to pay for the lives he took from so many people.

“Brother! Are you going?”

“Congratulations on your release!”

As the man in uniform left the camp building with his simple luggage, the prisoners who were working cheered enthusiastically.

“Yes, take care!”

The guard frowned at the man, who smiled and waved.

This is the Imperial concentration camp, 'Abyssus', where only those who have committed serious crimes against humanity are gathered.

He was a man who lived his imprisonment among demons who wore iron helmets and heard them call him "brother", so his notoriety needed no further explanation.

The guard sent the man away without saying a word of farewell.

Bang.

The iron gates of the prison closed firmly behind Ryan, a man released after serving 12 years.

“Wow, the air outside is nice.”

The lighthouse on the pier in the distance and the horizon stretching out beyond it.

The scenery of the remote island, with only one reception facility, looked extremely peaceful.

“It would have been more peaceful if it weren’t for the uncomfortable expression on your face as soon as you came out. Right?”

Ryan sneered at the old aide who was waiting for him.

"You're getting old, Bill. Well, I guess you're a little tired of living next to my father, wagging your tail until you die."

“Thank you for your hard work, Young Master. It’s been a while since I’ve greeted you.”

Bill, Duke of Wassenberg's aide, handed over the documents in a businesslike manner with a brief greeting.

“My lord, you have brought great harm to the family’s reputation by massacring civilians twelve years ago. His Excellency the Duke has excommunicated you, and you can no longer use the surname Wassenberg.”

“Oh, yes. I’m going now.”

"Nevertheless, His Excellency, concerned about your life after your release, granted you a piece of land. I am grateful for His Excellency's generosity and hope you will enjoy the rest of your days."

"Huh."

Ryan looked at the documents he had been handed as if he were hugging them and burst out laughing.

“What is this land that you can’t even eat even if I give it to you? You want me to play lord in a land where not a single ant lives?”

“It is up to the young master whether you live in the territory or not. Do as you see fit.”

“Instead of this difficult piece of land, why don’t you give me some of the gold that’s dangling from your hand?”

“Yes. So one more.”

As Bill gestured, one of the soldiers behind him pulled someone out.

Someone who was hidden by the large soldiers and whom he didn't even know existed...

'What is that?'

It was a girl with pink hair tied up in a ponytail.

There was something familiar about her pretty, well-grown face. Perhaps it was because her golden eyes resembled someone else's?

“Hello. My name is Vania Wassenberg.”

“Yes? Wassenberg?”

And then, Bill's shocking declaration fell right away.

“She is the Young Master’s daughter.”

“...That’s bullshit.”

"I have prepared three thousand gold bars for your daughter. If you decide to raise her, I will give them to you."

“No, what the hell are you talking about? Who the hell is that guy?”

“She is the Young Master’s daughter.”

“Are you kidding me?!!!”

When Ryan couldn't hold back his yell, Vania flinched in surprise.

"My daughter? Did the world change without my knowledge during the twelve years I was locked up? Was it possible to give birth without ever holding a woman's hand?"

“There is no way to confirm every detail of Young Master’s private life before you were imprisoned.”

“I was put in prison when I was twelve?”

“...”

"You're still dumbfounded even after saying that? Who's the kid's mother? If you're going to scam her, you should at least show some sincerity by bringing the kid's mother and having a three-way meeting."

“Only young Master would know that.”

“Did I have an accident or something when I was twelve years old?”

“It is not impossible.”

“...”

Ryan felt it when he saw Bill's attitude, which was not convincing.

That snake-like aide knows.

That girl isn't Ryan's daughter or anything.

Still, there is a reason why it must be passed on to Ryan.

“This child is indeed the young master’s biological daughter. She is incompetent.”

"Aha."

Only then did Ryan chuckle at the sight of the trembling Vania.

"I get it. Somehow, her eyes resemble my father's. I guess my father, not content with me, gave birth to another incompetent half-sister. So, my... half-sister?"

“No. She is the young master’ daughter.”

"Yes, I understand. You don't want to hear that the Duke of Wassenberg has a problem with his fertility, so you'll disguise that child as my own daughter and throw her away, that's it."

“Please be careful with your words.”

"Hey."

Ryan, who had suppressed his laughter, leaned close to Bill and whispered.

"I rotted here for twelve years, taking care of real murderers. I think that's enough to justify my role as a member of the Wassenberg bloodline."

“...That is not true. The mastermind behind the massacre is a young master.”

"Now you want me to be stuck in a backward place, labeled a criminal, and just die? I served my time in prison, so do you think I'm some pushover?"

“Since the child has already been declared as the young master’s biological child, if you say you will not take her in, then.”

Bill added, his eyes shining coldly.

“I’ll take care of it.”

“Oh, shit...”

A breathtaking standoff between the cool-headed Bill and Ryan, who glares at him as if he's going to kill him.

Vania, who had been watching them anxiously, shouted bravely.

"Dad!"

“Hey, you want to die? Why am I your Dad?”

Ryan immediately frowned and looked back.

“Let me introduce myself again!”

Vania shook off the soldier's hand that was holding her and ran towards Ryan.

An incompetent half-brother? An incompetent person?

No.

This man, Ryan, is hiding a terrifying power.

Vania, who knew the secret, was afraid, but she couldn't continue to tremble like a fool.

Because she has a plan that she has been preparing for two years after returning.

The first step is to follow Ryan here.

“My name is Vania and I am twelve years old!”

“I didn’t ask?”

“His Excellency gave me three gold bars, and if you take her with you, they will all be yours!”

“I don’t need it?”

Ryan replied calmly.

Vania clenched her hands, which were covered in cold sweat.

Calm down. Vania, you have to calm down.

If you can't keep up with Ryan, you'll have to go to Plan B, and that'll make things more complicated.

“Where are you going to stay?”

I tried to change the route and cry.

“Wherever you go, you’ll have to clean and do laundry... I’ll take care of all that...”

“Oh, is that right?”

Is this proposal interesting?

Ryan somehow stared at Vania.

“Excuse me, I’ll listen well... Please take me with you... I’ve been kicked out of the house, and I have nowhere to go...”

“ Get over here.”

Vania's expectations were dashed when Ryan, who even held her hand so affectionately, said,

“Are you eating properly? How could you let that little girl slip through your fingers like that? It's pitiful.”

He returned Vania intact to the hands of the private soldiers.

“Oh, no! Take me! Take me!”

And then, without a shred of regret, he turned and walked away. Vania screamed behind Ryan.

“If you don’t take me, I’ll die! Dad! Please take me!”
