TMTNO - Chapter 34

It seems like I just ate and slept the whole time I was with Shish.

Sleep was so much of a drag that no matter how much I slept, it never ended.

Even though I kept nagging him to sleep, he would force me to eat something, and when I ate and fell asleep, he would carry me around the room to help me digest the food before putting me back to bed.

It was a long-awaited break.

I wonder how long I slept. I was suddenly awakened by voices. It seemed like two people were arguing.

"Why are you still here? Is the author sleeping? Author!"

It's Dietrich.

“Shut up and be quiet, you crazy bastard.”

"I can't live without an author. I have to see her. Otherwise, my body will continue to—"

“-If you can’t take care of it properly, just blow it up.”

A cold voice cuts off the other person's words.

Oh, shit, I'm so mad.

I was a little afraid that Shish would cut off Dietrich's head. I thought Shish would know how to kill even the Sword Master.

Sometimes I thought that maybe he was keeping Dietrich alive because without him, he would have more work to do.

“Hmm... Shish?”

“Oh, master. Are you awake?”

As I nodded to the gentle whisper, I felt someone stroking my head, saying, "Sleep more." In my slightly awake state, I could hear the conversation quite clearly.

“You were so noisy that you woke up the master. Get out.”

“You’re the one who has to leave, Shish Milan.”

“I knew you didn’t have any thoughts, but I didn’t know it was to this extent.”

It was a blatant mockery.

"If I go out, you'll wake her up right away? Master, how much has she slept lately? Has she eaten properly? Don't you see how thin she's gotten, you and the Tower Master?”

“...”

“Are you planning to kill her?”

“...”

"You were probably basing your actions on your own physical strength, and didn't even consider my master. Or did you even care about that?"

Dietrich's continued silence was amusing.

"If you don't have the strength to think for yourself, just do as I say. Go and ask the Magic Tower Master to make you a cure for your illness."

After a while, the room became quiet, and soon the bed began to rock.

Ah, it smells sweet. My favorite smell.

“If you go out, you should be doing well.”

I feel like my head is being slowly stroked. It feels good.

“Even though it’s so hard, does this mean that Master would rather be here than with me...?”

His voice sounded somewhat wet, so I wanted to say no.

Oh no. Maybe it's just Shish's scheme because he knows I'm awake.

If I say “No,” you’re sure to reply “Then let’s go home!”

A soft sensation touched my forehead. It was a refreshing touch, not at all like a slushy one.

When the heroine says she can't sleep, Shish is the type of person who says, "I'll put you to sleep," and hugs her until she's exhausted, making her unable to walk on her own two legs.

And then he says things like, “I guess I’ll just stay in bed now. Go to sleep.” And... ugh.

But it's so strange to be able to sleep so purely.

Also, the trembling hands that carefully caress my cheek.

***

My eating habits have improved significantly since Shish left. It was Milan, his chef, whom he decided to take up residence at the Magic Tower Master.

Wow, I feel like my treatment has been upgraded while I'm in prison.

“Was the food really tasteless?”

Yuno asked with tears welling up in his eyes, but I couldn't even give him a formal "No." It really didn't taste like anything. It wasn't tasteless; it just tasted absolutely tasteless.

He should have paid more attention to the meal than the elevator setup, but he missed that.

“Ugh, I’m sorry.”

While apologizing for the meal, Yuno stubbornly refused to mention the night before. He was silently expressing his determination to never stop.

However, he became a little more docile, whether it was because he heard something from Dietrich or something from Shish.

“Lily, what kind of magic do you want to see?”

After hearing that, I told Shish that I wanted him to stay here longer. Yuno tried to win my favor.

“Teleportation.”

“...Where are you going if you teleport?”

Of course, he soon looked at me with a suspicious look.

“Your study.”

“If that’s the case, then fine!”

As soon as I finished eating, Yuno grabbed my hand and teleported.

“Uu..."

I feel like what I ate is going to come back up.

I sat on the nearby sofa and caught my breath.

“It didn’t feel like this when I moved through the magic circle before!”

“Because magic circles and teleportation have different operating methods.”

“That’s amazing.”

As I was amazed by the fact that I had just found out, Yuno asked me a question.

“Lily, do you want to learn magic?”

"Yes."

When I opened my eyes, Yuno seemed troubled.

"If you're worried, you don't have to teach me teleportation. Just something simple?"

I counted them one by one on my fingers.

“Like lighting a fire, or spraying water from your fingers? Or maybe just moving your fingers and the curtains will flutter shut?”

“I guess even a god can’t use magic.”

...If I were God, would I be held captive by you? Yes?

Yuno quickly nodded, as if he noticed that I was looking at him with disapproval.

"Great."

“But do I have magic powers?”

"No."

I knew it.

“I checked before, and there aren’t any. It’s so strange.”

Don't be surprised by that?

“To learn magic, you need magical power, and that’s the only way.”

Tiyongtiyongtiyongtiyong!

Suddenly, a red alarm sounded.

"Yuno! I don't think I need to learn magic-"

“-Do it with me.”

It's a line I've heard a lot.

“I can pass on my magic power when we form a relationship.”

“I can drink the magic potion!”

“Did you know?”

"Yes!"

Actually, it just occurred to me. There was a setting like that.

By the way, where does this guy sell his drugs?

When I frowned, Yuno looked quite disappointed, sighed, and waved his hand in the air.

Then several bottles containing golden liquid appeared.

“It’s a drug that melts my magic power.”

“What a pretty color.”

Yuno's earlobes turned red at the compliment. He fluttered his eyebrows and whispered, almost out of breath.

“Just put a drop on your tongue to see if you have an adverse reaction.”

I opened the bottle's cap and carefully tilted it so that I could get just one drop into my mouth.

Thud!

A faint explosion was heard from somewhere, and the tower shook slightly.

Phew, the magic potion filled my mouth.

Gulp.

I swallowed a huge amount of liquid without even having time to stop, and in the meantime, the liquid that had soaked my face and clothes had evaporated and disappeared.

“I thought Lily wouldn’t reject me.”

Yuno suddenly came over, hugged my waist, and kissed me.

A cool breeze passes through my warm lips.

I guess it's magic.

Yuno, who had been handing over his magic to me for a long time, whispered in a subdued voice.

“All the humans who absorbed my magic power died.”

Although Yuno awakened his magical powers, he was not a great magician from the beginning.

It has to do with what he experienced when he was a slave...

“I’ve injected my magic into hundreds of people.”

...isn’t it?

"I was trying to prove that I wasn't some weirdo. But they all died."

Yuno's golden eyes became cloudy.

“You are the only one for me.”

I was speechless.

“Lily, I love you.”

He tightened his grip on my waist.

“My God.”

Then he tensed his body, and I fell backward.

Yuno, sitting on my legs, took off his glasses, and his golden eyes flashed even more dangerously.

“Can I do it?”

"No."

Although I answered firmly, I patted Yuno's back as he bent down and hugged me tightly.

“Why not? Let me do it. Yes?”

Yuno, who had dug between my legs, began to gasp for breath.

“Lily. My God.”

He moved his body on his own, yet he kept talking to me.

“Lily, are you going to abandon us?”

“Why do you think that?”

“You want to go back to your world. The world where the gods live.”

“You didn’t read the story to the end?”

Yuno's face was distorted as if his lower body was in pain.

They see me as a heroine, and heroines never run away. In fact, they're happy to be by her side.

“If you look there, you can see that we’re still together-”

“-I told you the ending was lost!”

Yuno's forehead eventually became soaked with moisture. He hugged me and took a deep breath.

I know too.

He said that the diary I was supposed to have written looked like it had been torn up on purpose, and that the novel was so old that the latter part was missing.

He said the novel disappeared as soon as it summoned me.

I remember everything, but I pretend not to know.

Because I have to figure out somehow why this world has become like this, or if there's a way for me to escape.

“I asked because I didn’t know. You didn’t even show me.”

“Oh, right. I’m sorry.”

“So show me.”

Yuno stubbornly kept his mouth shut.

If you're annoyed, you should pay the price.

“Since we forced you to come here, you will go back.”

Yes, I know.

“So that’s not possible.”

This guy?

“I don’t want you to leave.”

Yuno, who had raised his upper body, shook his head.

The teardrops that had been hanging from the corners of his eyes flew into the air.

“No. Stay here.”

I was reflected in his wet eyes.

After thinking for a moment, I asked a question.

“Yuno, what will you do when I die?”
