THST - Chapter 4

Episode 4. Please Take Care of My Husband

Rose sensed something unusual in Doana's gaze as she gazed at Eric. Doana, glaring at Eric with a blatant gaze, caressed her lips. It was a habit she habitually used when coveting someone else's possessions. Rose found herself chuckling at the sight of Doana twice attempting to seduce her husband. Of course, Eric, who had no feelings whatsoever, wasn't offended at all. It was simply amusing. How could she desire the man she was about to abandon so much?

'What should I do, should I stop you?'

"If you get involved with this person, your life is over." Rose swallowed the words she hadn't said aloud.

'No. Why should I help you?'

"You're nothing more than a traitor who deceived me and stole my husband." Rose looked at Doana with cold eyes. She simply watched silently to see what choice Doana would make. For a moment, her eyes fixed on Eric, Doana smiled shyly at him. She gently pushed Rose away from her and took a step forward to greet him.

“My name is Doana. I’m friends with Rose.”

Rose was left speechless by Doana's blatant display of affection for Eric.

'You're finally twisting my fate, Doana.'

There were no surprises. There were signs that she was trying to steal her husband in this life as well. No, Doana was certain to steal Eric.

'Why don't you understand that when you make others cry, you'll shed tears of blood yourself?'

Rose looked at Doana quietly. Then, swallowing a bitter smile, she thought.

'Now you will fully realize how terrible your karma is.'

Rose just watched as Doana rolled down the thorny path, throwing her whole body into it.

'Do similar types attract each other?'

Doana's gaze at Eric was unusual, but so was Eric. Eric, though unkempt, paused at Doana's pretty features and voluptuous figure. He'd been spending nights alone quite often lately, and seeing her stirred a gnawing instinct.

Doana was struck dumb by Eric's unexpectedly handsome appearance. His neatly swept black hair and deep, hazel eyes made her heart flutter. Just looking at his neatly tailored shirt, she could tell he had a well-toned physique. In her eyes, Eric was the perfect prince. Handsome, physically fit... and a Count, too. A spacious mansion, numerous employees, and the splendid dress Rose wore. Even a cursory glance revealed the man's ability.

"Isn't that perfect? I'm much better suited to someone like that."

Why was she possessed as a maid, and that child as a Countess? Doana, who had been chewing her lip in envy of Rose, belatedly noticed his intense gaze. He was glaring at her, his gaze blatant as he scanned her body.

'Well then, of course you'll look at me.'

The world revolves around her. Doana had lived her entire life thinking that way. Raised by her father, the CEO of a mid-sized company, she had never lacked anything. She was a true princess. She could have anything she wanted, and never once did she not have it. Perhaps that was why she felt no interest in ordinary love. Only the secretive, thrilling relationships that could be discovered at any moment stimulated her.

The thrill of secretly making love to someone who already had a partner—that's something only someone who hasn't experienced it can understand. Doana smiled, as if responding to Eric's gaze. She then ran a hand through her hair, revealing the white line of her neck that had been hidden. She gazed at Eric seductively. Eric couldn't take his eyes off her. Doana's blatant seduction made him feel hot. Rose watched them, sending each other signals without her having to do anything.

“I’ll go in first. I’m not feeling well.”

Neither Eric nor Doana stopped Rose, who was about to leave. In fact, they seemed to welcome it. Rose left them behind and leisurely made her way out of the garden. As soon as Rose left, Eric and Doana, without a word, began exploring each other's lips. Beginning with a light kiss, they exchanged glances, then soon shared a passionate kiss. Eric leaned in closer to Doana and began tickling her chin.

“Ugh... Wait a minute...”

Eric threw Doana, who was shouting "Wait a minute," into the grass. Doana tried to stop Eric, who was frantically thrusting at her, but Eric, already out of his mind, was unbuttoning his shirt one by one. Doana grabbed hold of Eric's now-undone shirt. Eric was irritated by Doana's constant attempts to stop him. They had clearly exchanged signals before sharing a passionate kiss.

'Are you saying you don't like it now?'

She made him so angry, and now she'd think about backing out. But Doana's next words melted Eric's irritation away.

“Let’s not do it here, let’s go in and do it.”

Eric chuckled and spoke at Doana's stern voice.

“You’re a bold woman. To seduce me first.”

“Well, I think it was the Count who started the seduction, not me.”

Doana gently stroked his shoulder seductively. Rose, returning to her room, smiled contentedly. It was obvious what the two of them, who had been exchanging glances, must have looked like now. How could they work so seamlessly together without even using a hand?

"Also..."

Rose's eyes sank coldly. Then she muttered the name of her friend, a name she never wanted to utter again.

“Gyeo-ru...”

Why on earth did you fall into this novel with me? I thought I'd never encounter someone like you again.

Rose's mind drifted to Lee Do-hyun, who must have been left alone in this situation. But she quickly shook her head.

“What does it matter? That kind of guy, I’ll fight him to the death.”

In her previous life, and even now in this novel, she found herself laughing at the sight of Doana lusting after her husband.

“Enjoy that person to your heart’s content.”

Rose muttered with a faint smile.

“I’m going to get out of here.”

With her worries resolved in an instant, she couldn't help but feel elated. God wasn't indifferent; he seemed to be offering Rose a chance. Tell her not to be fooled any longer and take revenge. The first step had been successfully taken.

But there was still a problem. What would she do after abandoning her position as Countess and getting divorced? Rose was the daughter of a fallen family. And after marrying Eric, she had cut ties with her parents. Her parents had severed ties with her because she threatened to kill herself if they didn't let her marry. Therefore, the novel didn't reveal where Rose's parents were or how they were doing. Even if she tried to find them, she might be turned away.

“If I get a divorce, will I inevitably end up on the streets?”

I don't like that... Rose thought back to the tiny studio apartment she'd fled to in her previous life. She didn't want to live like that in this life. Of course, Count Wence's family would go under, so they wouldn't be able to see her living in luxury for long, but she had to live well, didn't she?

“...Should I collect a lot of compensation?”

Rose seriously considered whether she should divorce Count Wence quickly while she was still in good health.

"To thrive in this world, you need information. So, it's best to study it in advance."

Rose opened her door slightly and called out to the maid in front of her.

"Excuse me."

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Could you tell the butler that I have something to talk to him about and that he’ll be waiting in the reception room?”

“Butler?”

Why was Madwm, who always looked out for Eric, suddenly looking for the butler? The maid was puzzled, but nodded and said.

"All right."

Rose looked at the maid who had already left, then turned to walk toward the reception room. But she couldn't help but hesitate.

“...But where is the meeting room?”

Having only been here a day, she still hasn't figured out the layout of the house.

***

“You want to call a private tutor?”

"Yes."

At Rose's words, the cup in the butler's hand slipped. Almost shattering the precious teacup, the butler quickly put it down and turned to Rose.

“Can I ask why?”

"But I'm a Countess, so I feel I should know something about how the world works. If I'm going to enter society, I need to be at a level where I can mingle with them."

At Rose's words, the butler's eyes widened as if they were about to pop out.

“Are you talking about social circles?”

"Yes."

Unlike the startled butler, Rose sipped her tea with a rather relaxed expression. The butler's surprise was understandable. Although Rose and Eric had officially married, they hadn't yet been recognized by the Count Wence family. They deliberately avoided inviting Rose to banquets and acted as if Eric wasn't married yet. Consequently, Rose naturally withdrew from society, but she didn't care. Eric was all she needed.

If you ask why the heartless Eric had chosen to marry Rose despite his family's opposition, the explanation is simple. Eric was the type who wouldn't stop a woman from coming or take a woman from leaving. Ironically, the reason he married Rose was because, of all the women, she was the first to propose. Despite the family's reputation, Rose and Eric's marriage was absurdly consummated.

'But the good thing is that the Count's employees don't treat me like I'm invisible.'

Of course, on the days when Count Wence's parents visited, they treated Rose with caution, but other than that, they treated her with humanity. Of course, there were always one or two employees who openly ignored Rose, but there were far more who did not. This must be the female protagonist buff. Rose enjoyed a life no different from other Countesses. Except for the lack of maids and the social ostracism.

The butler nodded earnestly at Rose's words. He always felt sorry for Rose, who was around the same age as his son. Treated as invisible by her in-laws, receiving no attention from her husband, and begging for love, it was truly pitiful.

'Do you think you'll stop looking at your husband and move on?'

“I will speak to the Count.”

"Thank you."

Rose smiled in relief at the butler. She'd been worried he might refuse, but it seemed like things were going well. While Eric and Doana were tangled in bed, Rose took a step toward a new leap forward.
