Queen Of Villains - Chapter 33

The market was crowded because it was the weekend. The flower market, in particular, is a popular date spot for couples.

Among the lovers with such a pink atmosphere flowing, Emily and Killian walked awkwardly side by side.

“Hello, Killian.”

Especially when people who recognized him first bowed and glanced at the two of them.

“Can I give you some flowers?”

Then a manager came up to them and carefully handed them a bunch of freesias.

“Oh my, thank you.”

Come to think of it, Emily had never received flowers since her wedding. Killian's expression hardened as he remembered this fact.

He took care of her debts, got her back her Sinope mansion, and bought her everything she needed for the wedding, but no matter how much he searched his mind, he couldn't remember giving her any personal gifts.

He bought a bunch of jewels from a jewelry store and gave them to Emily, but she seemed to think of them as mere props to maintain her dignity. She didn't respond with any memorable reaction.

“Please give me the list of things you said you needed earlier.”

Killian hurriedly urged Emily on.

"Yes?"

Emily handed Killian the note she'd written with a puzzled look on her face. He immediately showed the list to the boss.

“Send everything written here to Starr.”

"All right."

The boss, who had increased sales thanks to giving his wife a flower, was so excited that he started preparing the flower pots to be packed.

Killian followed the merchant into the store in a daze, looked around, and pointed to a blue flower that caught his eye.

“And pack a bunch of those too.”

“Are you talking about delphinium?”

As he said in the carriage, Killian didn't know anything about flowers. He simply chose them because their color matched Emily's eyes.

The president gave a sly smile to Killian, who didn't respond, and began to package the delphinium nicely.

“You chose well. It’s the perfect flower to give as a gift to lovers.”

“Why?”

“It has the flower language of ‘I will make you happy.’”

‘I will make you happy...’

At those words, Killian, with mixed feelings, came out holding the delphinium the president had wrapped for him. He looked at Emily, who was still happy and smelling the flower's fragrance.

When he saw that sight, his heart ached, and he felt like it was in pain.

Emily, who had discovered Killian, approached him and asked.

“What is this flower?”

He was embarrassed when he actually handed her the flowers, so he tried to speak calmly without making eye contact with her.

“They said it was a delphinium. I wanted to give it to you...”

“Oh my goodness, thank you.”

Emily cut him off, smiled brightly, and took the flowers. Killian felt embarrassed at how much more pleased she was than he'd expected.

“It’s nothing.”

"It's nothing special. Freesias are enough, but the boss is truly grateful for taking care of these flowers as well."

Emily, of course, assumed the delphiniums were flowers the president had given her. She asked the president, who happened to be coming out of the entrance.

“Are you delivering all these flower pots to Starr?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Then, please send me these bouquets as well. I think they’ll look pretty on the terrace.”

The boss looked moved by Emily's words.

“Madam, it is an honor to be decorated on your terrace.”

"The flowers are all fresh and pretty. I really like the ones you gave me. I'll come again next time."

“If you come then, we will provide you with better service.”

Killian wanted to intervene between the two people in a friendly manner and say, 'I gave you the delphinium as a gift,' but he felt hesitant.

“Come again!”

Killian, feeling depressed, followed the cheerful Emily back to the market.

In fact, he's already bought everything he needed in one store, so looking around was pointless. If Alvin had known, he would have cursed him for being so inconsiderate.

“Yes? Killian.”

Just then, a man recognized him and approached him. It was Endymion, the successor and leader of the Gottio family.

“I guess the person next to you is the new owner of Starr.”

"Hello."

Emily, who was close to Killian, also exchanged a quick greeting with Endymion.

"By the way, it's amazing to see Killian in a place like this. As they say, marriage changes people."

Killian, who was watching Emily's expression, changed the subject for no reason.

“What are you doing here?”

“I want to give my girlfriend some flowers. Maria, say hello.”

At those words, a small woman, hidden by Endymion's presence, revealed her face. Her seemingly fragile features made one want to embrace her.

"Hello."

Maria, who greeted Killian, exchanged glances with Emily as if she knew her.

“Do you two know each other?”

Maria answered Endymion's question after noticing this.

“We go to the same temple, so I know her face.”

Emily was a noblewoman, and Maria was a commoner, so they had no connection and did not exchange greetings, but their faces were familiar.

“It’s nice to see you like this.”

Emily greeted her and glanced down her neck. Maria was wearing an expensive diamond necklace with an opal pendant. It was a stark contrast to the modest image she had seen at the temple.

"That's great, since you two know each other. Instead of talking like this here, should we go to a club and talk more?"

Killian glanced at Emily, asking if she was okay to go. Emily nodded in agreement. The four of them headed to Club Tar, run by Endymion, and were guided to the best seats.

Endymion smiled proudly as he watched Maria's necklace sparkle and shine even brighter in the dark club.

“Do you like the necklace?”

Endymion asked, tapping Maria's nose. Maria smiled shyly and silently, then fell into his arms.

Emily and Killian, embarrassed by the affectionate display that showed no consideration for those around them, turned their heads and pretended not to notice.

“By the way, we’re going to talk about something boring now. Would it be okay if you two ladies sit at this table together?”

As Endymion looked at Emily and Maria and asked, Maria looked to the side.

“Madam, shall we go to the table next to you? If you don’t mind me staying with you.”

Maria seemed cautious, worried that Emily, a noblewoman, might be uncomfortable associating with her.

“Yes. Let’s go to the next table.”

Since the two of them were going to talk about the mafia anyway, it was better to stay with Maria.

And there was no reason for Emily, who had no hesitation in associating with commoners even in the realm, to be particularly offended by her association.

As the two moved, Killian and Endymion began to have a serious conversation.

“Did you get the letter?”

He nodded to Endymion's question.

“My father will pass away soon.”

Vito Gottio wasn't exactly a good father by most people's standards, but Endymion still respected him. A complex expression crossed Endymion's face, one he couldn't hide.

Killian didn't know how to comfort others. He simply clinked his glass with Endymion in silence.

“But now a guy who claims to be my father’s son has emerged.”

The man named Sam was one of the capos of the Gottio family.

However, just before Vito died, he claimed to be his illegitimate son, and now the Gottio family was in a situation where a succession issue arose because of this.

“Are you sure he is Vito’s illegitimate son?”

“I don’t know because my father is unconscious. But...”

Endymion, unable to find the resolve to speak, simply moved his lips and then took another sip of his drink. Since this was a matter concerning his father's honor, he couldn't readily open his mouth.

“It seems almost certain that he is an illegitimate child.”

Endymion had no choice but to nod at Killian's confident tone.

“There is a picture of him when he was little, my father and his mother holding him.”

Endymion was deeply distressed by the photo, which, to anyone who saw it, looked like a family.

“What is the atmosphere like within the family?”

Sam was a capable capo. He also had a reputation within the organization, so the news that he was Vito's secret son caused quite a stir within the organization. And quite a few people were leaning in his direction.

"Why would he reveal that he's an illegitimate child at this point? He's aiming for the successor position."

“But isn’t it already confirmed that you will be the successor?”

“I don’t know about that. My father’s will will be announced at the funeral.”

“Vito will think of you as his successor, so don’t worry too much.”

"That's quite comforting. Thank you. But if anything happens at the funeral, please be on my side."

Killian was much more comfortable with Endymion becoming the head of the Gottio family than with Sam.

“Yes.”

Only then did Endymion's face relax.

“By the way, are you still planning on leaving the drug business alone?”

“It’s not really my style.”

“It’s a shame, because the profits there are decent.”

“What I’m doing now is enough.”

Endymion smiled helplessly and stood up.

“Shall we go and see what the ladies are doing?”

While the two men were chatting about this and that, Emily and Maria were watching the singer's performance.

“Are you enjoying the performance?”

Endymion asked, kissing Maria's cheek from behind the chair.

“Yes, you did a good job casting good singers.”

“Does it feel good to be praised?”

Endymion kissed her other cheek once more.

“Is the story over now?”

“Yeah, should we go out?”

Maria glanced at Emily, asking if she wanted to join.

In fact, Maria Emily was quite a conversationalist. She was intelligent and had a surprisingly pleasant sense of humor.

But compared to the couple who were so passionate about their love, Killian and Emily seemed so bleak that it seemed like a comparison.

“We’re going back now.”

Killian, oblivious to Emily's intentions of rejection, fidgeted. He assumed Emily was offended by being left alone with a stranger in an unfamiliar place.

"There's a delicious restaurant nearby, but it's too bad. See you next time."

Endymion, already relieved after hearing a definite answer from Killian, sent the two away without much hesitation.

“Well then, goodbye, Maria.”

“Yes, it was an honor to meet you.”

Emily and Maria also hugged and said goodbye.

Killian, still watching Emily's mood, hurriedly escorted her to the carriage.
