TMTNO - Chapter 8

Shish, who had been kindly asking me what I was doing today, grabbed the end of the ribbon and shook it as he asked.

“Yeah. It’s a little loose.”

“Huh.”

He made a face that said he didn't like something and pulled the string hard.

“What are you doing?”

“I don’t like the shape of the string.”

Shish's red lips twisted. He re-tied the knot, somewhat roughly.

Crackle.

“Shhh!”

Finally, he grabbed the part with the string and ripped it off in one go.

“Let’s change clothes.”

Shish, who had disappeared outside the door, soon came back with new clothes.

“Now? Suddenly?”

"Yes."

I couldn't refuse because he was smiling, but didn't seem to be smiling.

As usual, Shish helped me with my clothes, but this was different from his usual routine of leaving it up to me to dress and undress. He looked angry and took off my dress with his own hands.

Only then did the man, with a relieved expression, pick up my new dress.

Unlike usual, it was a simple and plain outfit. It was close to the long dress I knew.

How nice it would be if you gave me comfortable clothes like this regularly. I should only ask for things like this from now on.

“Let’s go, treasure house.”

Shish, holding my hand tightly, went to the room where the treasures were stored on the fourth floor.

“Should I make new clothes with this?”

He smiled brightly, taking out all kinds of fabrics, including silk, as if he had never been angry.

“Master, this color suits you well, too.”

I felt relieved to see his face, as he asked me this and that, as usual.

“...But why are all the colors you chose red?”

The fabrics, which were all of the same red color with only a difference in tone, made me feel absurd.

“I like blue and yellow. And silver too.”

“I hate it.”

Shish, who had thrown away all the silk of the color I had mentioned, answered in a very strong tone.

“Let’s do it in red.”

"Yes?"

"I'll wear black, and you, Master, wear red. We'll make clothes based on each other's hair colors. It's to show that I belong to you, Master, and you belong to me."

“No one’s going to see it anyway, so what?”

When I answered calmly, Shish's face hardened.

The current situation, where the answer was already decided, was not fun, but I moved my mouth to survive.

"So, Shish. What I'm saying is, when will I be able to show off the clothes I make with these pretty colored fabrics?"

The shadowy figure stared at me silently.

“Master...”

"Yes?"

“Master, are you really good at picking up and putting down people?”

“Your feet are firmly attached to the floor.”

“Haha. Puhahahahaha!”

...These days, the mad prime minister is laughing like a madman more and more often. Since he's a madman, it's only natural for him to laugh like one.

That may be true, but it's a little scary.

“And Shish, you are mine, but I am not yours.”

Even though it was a life-threatening situation, I clearly explained the hierarchy.

Don't try to match me, okay? I'm your master, so don't kill me!

After a moment, Shish bit his lip and covered his face with one hand. For a moment, he remained silent. Then, a clean smile formed, and he spoke kindly.

"Master, would you like to go and eat first? I'll clean up here, and then I'll go."

"Yes."

I left the treasure house pretending not to know anything.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Before the door could even close, a loud noise began to be heard.

...I’m still stuck?

***

I woke up early this morning, but Shish wasn't there. On days when he didn't go to the palace, he'd poke my cheek until I woke up. What was going on?

Well, in the first place, he didn't even come in until I went to bed last night.

I quietly went out of the room, but for some reason, I heard a commotion.

Wow! It's a person!

With a feeling like I had been stranded on a deserted island for about 18 years, I slowly made my way down the stairs, quietly making every effort to keep my footsteps quiet.

“Did you see it?”

“What, what, what, what was it?”

I can't see their faces very well, but judging by their voices, they are women who are younger than me or around my age.

“It’s your first time seeing this.”

“Have you seen Mimi? I mean, the one in the annex!”

“Yeah, quite a few times.”

A terrified voice and a subdued voice are conversing.

“I, I, I, I want to quit right now.”

“Have you forgotten the oath you made when you came here? That you would never quit.”

"But!"

"You said you have a mother at home who has difficulty getting around. Think about the salary. It's three times what you'd pay anywhere else."

I heard a hiccuping sound.

“And you mustn’t tell anyone what you saw earlier. If you do, you’ll end up like that person.”

I heard something happened at the annex near the forest I often visited.

And why isn't Shish by my side?

Yeah, this is definitely not a good thing, so I shouldn't go, right?

The red alert is going 'Eeng eeng eeng eeng'.

“Damn.”

My ominous premonitions were never wrong, but I quickly put on my shawl and headed to the annex. I was quite curious about what was going on.

“Yes, curiosity kills people.”

Could anything worse have happened than the Mad Minister knowing my true identity?

Since I came to this mansion, I have never seen so many people.

Near the entrance to the main building where I live, I saw a man bringing food, an elderly man who seemed to be a butler, and maids.

As soon as they saw me, they lowered their heads and pretended not to see me, and I didn't bother to speak to them.

As soon as I went towards the annex, I was able to see the person I was looking for.

Wearing a comfortable-looking white shirt, black pants, and boots of the same color as his pants, Shish was a handsome man who was attractive to anyone who saw him.

Except that he was holding an axe in his hand, which was out of place.

“Shish?”

“Master.”

When Shish saw me, he smiled brightly, and for a moment, I felt something was wrong.

The red alert, which had been quiet for the past few days, was saying, 'Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Critical, critical!'

It's very ominous that the alarm is sounding so frequently today.

“Oh, good morning. Bye, I’ll be going!”

I quickly turned around to go back to the building, but my body was turned around by Shish, who grabbed me.

“What were you doing here? Huh?”

“I’m not curious.”

"Really?"

Shish smiled faintly. It was a smile that said, "The answer is set, so answer it."

“Actually, I’m curious.”

“I punished a servant who dared not listen to me.”

The liquid on the axe he was holding was dripping, as if it hadn't yet hardened. It even dripped, soaking the floor.

That's right, it was bright red blood.

“I am a person who never lets go of what is mine.”

The blood on his cheeks didn't match his beautiful smile, like a rose in full bloom.

The servant lying in front of Shish, as if asleep, was none other than the gardener. He said that he had done it because he didn't listen to what he said.

Who snitched on the gardener's work? The butler? The maid? There are many candidates.

What's more important is that this situation happened.

What he's doing now is...

This was Shish's warning to me. Listen to me. Don't go against my wishes.

Because that's the kind of person Shish Milan is.

“Hoho, ho. Is that so?”

I nodded, pretending not to notice anything.

I tried to reassure myself that maybe it was just a stress reliever, but I couldn't shake the feeling that Shish was blackmailing me.

“Hoho, hohoho. Well then, I'll go on in.”

It was a situation where it wouldn't be strange if I fainted right now.

As I turned around with a creaking sound, Shish's story caught my attention.

“The master must have thought you had organized the clothes properly.”

I felt my expression crumble at the sudden story.

“Your clothes were surprisingly clean. But the shoes you gave me were made of a strange material.”

“...”

“If you apply a special medicine on the surface, even scratches that are invisible to the naked eye will become visible.”

Every day I wandered through the lawn and forest, even trying to climb trees.

“Looks like you had quite a rough walk?”

“Haha. Hahaha. I’m actually a bit of an active person!”

“Hmm, but when you were at the general store, you never left the store, right? You lived in a room there, right?”

As expected, this guy was watching.

Shish, who did not consider such things a sin, did not blink an eye.

“That knot on your clothes a while ago, didn’t it? That guy tied it for you.”

Shish smiled crookedly, pointing at the fresh-faced young man who could no longer speak.

“That knot, that’s how he tied it.”

I thought it was a bit unusual, but you can't usually tell who made something like that!

“How arrogant of him to dare approach my master?”

Shish looked so genuinely angry that he couldn't open his mouth.

“He dares speak to the master?”

So the reason you killed the gardener was more because he spoke to me than because he disobeyed your orders?

"Tell me, Master. Oh, did you say that yesterday? I am yours, but you are not mine?"

...was I mistaken about something?

There have been quite a few instances in which I have offended Shish.

Talking back, hitting his chin, or saying no.

I was sure that the reason my neck was attached was because that man judged me to be 'useful', and I was trying to live up to that.

Because I have to live.

The only person he is generous to without reason is the female protagonist.

“Yes, that’s right. You’re my master, so I have to endure whatever you say.”

But no. What I took for granted is now shaken. Like a few blocks that had been carefully stacked up have fallen out.
