TASITEB - Chapter 113

Episode 113. The Death Laxus Wished For

Leline shoved the servant in the back.

“I told you to give this to His Majesty the Emperor right now!”

“Ha, but... if I go in there, I’ll die!”

Leline’s face twisted.

There was no time.

She had heard that Renisha had disappeared from the castle. She didn’t know when or where Renisha would appear and aim her sword at Laxus.

The castle was full of hidden secret passages.

There was no time to waste.

Leline gestured behind her.

The knight guarding her aimed his sword at the servant’s neck.

“You’ll die even if you don’t go in. Still, will you disobey me?”

Leline said angrily.

In fact, Leline now knew about Laxus’s madness.

If she moved as the servant had said, she could die.

But, if it wasn’t Leline, who would die?

After all, they were expendable tools for the castle.

“Quickly!!!”

Unable to withstand Leline's scolding, the servant opened the door.

The servant, who had entered the Emperor's bedroom, bowed his head and trembled.

"...I told you not to open that door until you bring me Kassius's head."

Laxus's cold voice echoed on the floor.

The servant reported in a trembling voice.

"...I brought water. I brought alcohol too!"

Laxus rolled his violet eyes up and down.

The servant held his breath.

Even the slightest offense to Laxus would mean death.

How many servants had been carried out of Laxus' bedroom lately, losing their lives?

He didn't want to join those ranks.

The servant's body trembled.

"...You. Are scared,"

Laxus said in a languid voice.

"T-T-T-T..."

Laxus chuckled, watching the servant, who couldn't even speak properly.

This is why he practices terrorism.

If you let them off easy, they'll act without even knowing their place!

Renisha knew nothing.

Renisha possessed a pure and innocent mindset. She was nothing more than a sprout, never having killed a single person with her own hands.

'How can you possibly rule this empire!'

She didn't even know that the Emperor was lonely...!

Even Laxus realized after becoming Emperor that the Emperor had no love, no friends, no subjects.

Before becoming Emperor... Yes, before that.

There were times when he viewed Renisha differently.

There were definitely times when he expressed his true feelings.

'Renisha. I will make you Empress. We will rule this empire together. Forever together... We will make Hientri the greatest on the continent!'

There were times when he was filled with dreams and hope.

Laxus, too, had possessed such innocence.

Memories of that day flooded back. Laxus reached out with a sentimental expression. He took the cup of water offered by the servant.

The cold water would chase away his thoughts. Laxus drank it down in gulps.

A chill spread from his chest to his entire body.

Laxus blinked languidly.

“Get out.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

The servant crawled out of the room, practically crawling on the floor.

Leline stood in front of him.

“How is it?”

“... His Majesty...drank water.”

“Really?”

Leline smiled brightly.

That was enough.

Leline let go of the servant.

The servant’s back, fleeing from Leline, the Emperor, and everyone else, grew smaller and smaller.

Leline took a deep breath.

They said it would only take five minutes for the medicine to kick in.

Her palms were sweaty.

Leline carefully opened Laxus’s bedroom door.

“...Your Majesty...”

A slurred voice came through.

She saw Laxus sprawled out on the bed.

Leline approached Laxus and bent down.

Laxus, who was about to reach out to Leline, sagged.

His violet eyes, still drowsy from the drug, remained piercing.

If Laxus had any energy left, he could have strangled Leline.

Laxus licked his lips.

“...It’s all for Your Majesty. Renisha has disappeared. You never know when or where she might come after Your Majesty. You must protect yourself for the future.”

Leline stroked Laxus’s cheek.

Laxus couldn’t lift a finger at the arrogance of touching the Emperor without permission.

Leline paid no attention to Laxus’s cold gaze.

This was because she had confirmed that the paralytic drug had taken effect on Laxus.

Leline tried to stand but leaned back.

Leline, who had kissed Laxus without permission, smiled.

“It’s good that you’re here. Feel free to kiss me.”

Laxus opened his lips and then closed them weakly.

Not even a sound came out. The eyes glaring at Leline were fierce.

“I wish you would kiss me so affectionately regularly. Could that day ever come?”

Leline slowly stood up.

She nodded behind her.

The knight hesitated, then hoisted Laxus onto his back.

“You’ll thank me someday, Your Majesty,”

Laxus thought with a confused mind.

“Someday, I’ll break that slender neck and make sure you learn your lesson.”

That crazy woman was the first to inflict such humiliation on him.

Renisha looked around Laxus’s bedroom.

The room was warm, with bottles of alcohol rolling around.

Luna, who had checked the bedroom before Renisha, clicked her tongue.

“There was someone there just now.”

Luna checked the glasses that had fallen to the floor.

Wrinkling her nose, she threw the glasses away.

“It’s Mount Paralysis.”

“Are you saying Laxus was attacked?”

“Judging by the marks, it looks like someone took him out.”

Renisha headed for the window.

Her body felt like it weighed a ton, and fatigue weighed down her shoulders, but she had to confirm.

Renisha threw open the balcony.

Sticky darkness pooled at her feet.

Renisha reached for the railing.

Perhaps it was fate.

There was no guarantee that Lexus's escape route would be visible from here.

But at that moment, Renisha and Laxus's eyes met.

Laxus was slung over the knight's back, while a group of hooded figures fled at a brisk pace.

Even with the thick hood covering his head, she could still recognize Laxus.

"Laxus."

Blue veins sprouted on the back of Renisha's hands.

He was an enemy she couldn't forget, even in her dreams.

Hadn't she run all the way here to end Laxus's life?

Purple eyes, shining even in the darkness, stared straight at her.

Laxus's lips twitched.

He called out to her feebly.

Murderous intent seethed.

This was definitely murderous intent.

The fatigue that had weighed on her shoulders vanished.

Her heart pounded, and the veins on her forehead bulged.

"Luna."

"Should I chase him? Kill them all?"

Renisha ran her tongue across her lips.

In a short moment, tens of thousands of thoughts surged through her mind and then dispersed.

Renisha noticed the inferiority complex and defeat filling Laxus's eyes.

He must already be in hell.

Renisha laughed.

"I want to hold his life in my hands,"

Renisha whispered sweetly.

"What do you mean?"

"I want him to see me become Emperor."

Renisha stared at Luna with eyes filled with joy.

"Just killing him like this is too merciful. He deserves more pain and suffering. He deserves to burn in a hellfire that will kill him!"

Luna took a step back, pushed by Renisha's momentum.

"I absolutely must let him see that. See me become Emperor!"

Luna swallowed, her desire burning hot.

Renisha wasn't normal.

"You... are strange."

"Did you think I... was normal?"

Renisha tilted her head.

Long ago, ever since she had to overcome despair and stand again, Renisha had been mad.

She simply hid it and suppressed it.

"How can I be normal? My family died, my clan was destroyed. Because of that one guy!!"

Renisha pointed her finger outside.

Now, Renisha looked like a madman.

Renisha grabbed Luna's wrist.

It was beyond her comprehension how such vicious power could emerge from such a skinny body.

It was the lowest point of Renisha, a level she'd never seen before.

Luna backed away and was dragged by Renisha.

Renisha pinned Luna against the railing and pointed to Laxus as he fled.

"Look at that little rat running away, not his tail! Luna, he deserves to be ruined even more. He deserves to die a miserable, pathetic, and despicable death!"

Luna swallowed.

Her eyes wavered. She seemed to understand Renisha's anger and despair, yet she couldn't.

That was probably because Luna had never been Renisha herself.

Renisha had endured eight years with the man who slaughtered her family.

Renisha's spirit had crumbled countless times.

What had held her together until now was evil.

Renisha's lips turned blue.

Luna said with a sigh,

"...I'll do whatever you ask. Should I chase after him?"

She's an annoyingly annoying woman.

Renisha nodded.

"Don't let go."

"Got it."

Luna leaped forward.

Her style of climbing down the garden tree was top-notch.

Renisha gripped the railing, staring at Laxus's escape path.

Laxus never looked away.

Renisha burst out laughing.

Laxus had struggled so desperately to see this coming.

Tears streamed down Renisha's cheeks.

Tears that felt like her heart was melting.

Even if she kills him, the dead won't come back.

That despair now gripped Renisha's ankles.

Laxus left the palace. He was dragged away, having lost everything he had held onto so dearly.

"Father..."

Renisha slowly collapsed, still holding onto the railing.

Her lips trembled as she sank to the ground.

"Mother..."

Renisha let out an animalistic cry.

The ground beneath her gave way.

Her heart was torn to pieces.

By now, it should have dried up, but her heart still seemed to have blood flowing.

Her heart ached. Her throat tightened.

Renisha's sobs soaked the night sky.

For a long time.

***

Laxus opened his bloodshot eyes wide.

He stared at Renisha until she was no longer visible.

In the end, Renisha was left behind, and Laxus left the palace.

'Inevitably...'

Fate cannot be denied.

Laxus gasped for breath and laughed.

It had become a life worse than death.

Laxus wanted to end his days in the palace, by Renisha's side.

To take the last breaths of everything Renisha loved, and then die himself.

What a meaningful and magnificent death!

It was the way to engrave his presence in Renisha's heart most deeply and for a long time.

"Ki... Kik..."

Laxus's intermittent laughter dispersed with the wind.

Tears soaked his chin.

Eventually, Laxus will be forgotten by time.

In Renisha's heart!
