Queen of Villains - Chapter 17

As the card game progressed, the atmosphere relaxed, and various conversations took place between them.

“But you are a noblewoman, aren’t you?”

The man who spoke was a rather handsome young man with red hair, crimson eyes, and a unique appearance, with a teardrop mole under his eye.

"Yes, that's right."

Emily didn't bother to hide her origins. After all, her guilt wasn't something she could hide anyway.

“Are you also a noble?”

Emily also asked the other person.

“Haha, yeah... well, you could say that.”

The man smiled and muttered vaguely. Since they were just going to play a game anyway, Emily didn't care whether he was a noble or not.

Marlene, sitting across from him, watched the man with a suspicious eye. She was determined to keep an eye on him if she caught him scheming.

“Are you two friends?”

This time, the man next to them pointed to Emily and Marlene and asked.

This man was certainly ugly, but not so ugly that it was particularly noticeable. He was the kind of person who would play games with you, but not the kind you'd want to have a private conversation with.

“But?”

Marlene responded coldly.

“Haha, as expected, beautiful people hang out together.”

“Do you think the saying ‘we’re all in the same boat’ came about for no reason?”

The man continued speaking in a buttery voice, unconcerned with Marlene's stern words.

“You’re so beautiful, you must already have a boyfriend, right?”

“You know what? It’s a real mess.”

Marlene's nerves became sensitive as she had no lover.

“I guess you don’t have anyone since you’re reacting like that. Then, do you have anyone you like?”

"Oh my! Why are you asking so many questions? Are you playing a game?"

Finally, only when Marlene raised her voice did the man's mouth close. The red-haired man seemed to be uncomfortable with Marlene's presence.

“Can we chat while we play?”

“Why is conversation necessary?”

“It’s so boring to just play games without any conversation.”

“If you had any complaints, I would have told you from the beginning to move to another table.”

“Miss, you’re being too harsh...”

Marlene said, shoving a bunch of chips.

“Bet.”

The red-haired man looked bewildered by the sudden bet. An ugly man next to him clapped.

“Wow, you’re already raising the stakes? You must have a good hand.”

“Yes, I like the pattern, but can I have a pattern there?”

He burst out laughing.

“Hahaha, you really are a funny person.”

“I wasn’t joking to make you laugh, so stop spitting.”

“Anyway, good, Cole!”

The game's excitement grew. The red-haired man also put off learning about Emily and focused on the game.

“Three Jacks.”

"Flash."

The red-haired man shouted with a deep smile.

“Full House!”

When Marlene glared at the man with angry eyes, he responded with a mischievous smile.

“I’m sorry, but I think I won this game.”

She thought he was a Casanova who came to seduce women, but he was actually quite a skilled man.

“Did you just eat and play cards?”

“Haha, I’m lucky.”

That's when he pulled the chips full of both arms towards him.

"For a moment."

Emily showed her card with a smile of conversion.

"Straight Flash. I won?"

“S, Straight Flash came out?”

The man took Emily's cards and examined them in disbelief. They were indeed five consecutive cards of spades: J, 10, 9, 8, and 7.

“Are you sure?”

Emily took back the chips he had taken.

“Don't you take a cut from the winnings?”

Marlene turned around with a frown at the ugly man's words.

“Don’t ruin the mood, and if you don’t have money, go to the corner.”

“Don’t be angry. I’ll be quiet.”

The waiter, noticing the heated atmosphere at Emily's table, brought a tray with natural yet quick movements.

“Would you like some champagne, Madam?”

“Emily, are you going to drink?”

“Yes, I’ll buy this for you.”

Marlene nodded and placed the champagne under Emily's name.

Meanwhile, Michael, the underboss of the Gotio family, came to meet Killian.

The Gotio Family, which mainly deals in drugs, is a family that uses the venomous snake seal to live up to its notoriety, and all members of the organization have a venomous snake tattooed on the back of their necks.

And when they were active, they all grew their hair long so that their identities would not be revealed.

Michael, too, had long blond hair, and his thoughtful, kind appearance combined with his angelic good looks made him a handsome man. Knox stared at his luscious blond hair, seemingly entranced.

“Just looking at Michael from behind, he’s really my type.”

“...I feel like shit.”

Chambers lowered his head as he saw Michael's face crumple.

"I'm sorry, Michael. It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to keep Knox's mouth shut."

“Yee. It’s not your fault, Chambers.”

Knox scratched the back of his head at the conversation between the two.

“Sorry. I didn’t think you could hear.”

“If you sexualize me one more time, I’ll gouge out your eyes.”

“Yes, I get it. You’re being picky.”

Michael gave Knox another warning with his gaze and then asked Chambers.

“Where is the boss?”

“I will take you to Delina.”

Chambers took Michael to Delina House, right next to headquarters.

Killian looked down from the second floor of the club, lost in thought. He was bothered by his reckless opposition to Emily's opinion the previous morning.

He carefully observed the atmosphere of Delina, every nook and cranny.

'If you come with me, there will be no danger.'

Although it was nerve-wracking to bring her to work, if he warned the staff in advance, Emily would be able to use the club comfortably without feeling uncomfortable.

Killian, having reached a fairly satisfactory conclusion, was about to inquire about Emily's whereabouts when Michael, who had just arrived, came up to the second floor and greeted her.

“Lord Killian, it’s been a while.”

Killian accepted his greeting, putting out his cigarette.

“Yeah. What’s going on?”

The Gotio and Starr families enjoyed friendly relations. Furthermore, Vito Gotio, the Gotio family's boss, was quite fond of Killian.

This is because Killian's appearance, which started from the bottom and grew to this point, was similar to Gotio's past appearance.

Since the boss liked Killian, naturally, the Gotio members also respected Killian.

"This is a message from our boss. He's not feeling well and would like you to visit him when you have time."

Vito Gottio was in his seventies and suffering from thrombosis, which left him at risk of a stroke at any moment.

Killian put the letter he had read into his pocket with a complicated mind.

“I think I can make time next week.”

"Thank you."

“Is this all you want?”

"We've prepared the morphine you mentioned. Who would you like me to send it to?"

The Gotio family, which dealt in drugs, had easy access to all kinds of medicine. Most of the ingredients for the poisonous needles Johan made for Starr were also obtained through them.

“Send it to Dr. Pain.”

Morphine was requested by Dr. Pain to treat the wounded among the organization members.

Even though drugs could be lucrative, Killian had no intention of entering that world. He didn't want to do anything shameful in front of Emily.

Club management is rationalizing that it's not the person who's bad, but the one who loses money drinking or gambling.

“Are we going to stay here longer?”

Michael glanced around the club, shrugged, and said,

“It’s a shame to just go, but I have to go back for work.”

“Then let’s go out together.”

Emily said she was out shopping, so maybe they could meet on the shopping street.

As Killian came out, somewhat hurriedly getting dressed, the members of the organization, including Giovanni, also hurriedly followed him.

Michael said goodbye to Killian and the Starr organization members as he headed back in the carriage he had come in.

“Then I will go.”

“Give my regards to the boss. I’ll come and see him soon.”

“I’m sure he’ll be very pleased. That’s all for now.”

After Michael left, Giovanni asked Killian.

“Shall we prepare the carriage?”

“No. I think it would be better to walk a bit.”

He deliberately chose to walk, fearing he would pass Emily if he took the carriage.

“Where are you headed?”

“Shopping street.”

Giovanni followed Killian, slightly puzzled by his words.

When Killian went out, he carried a staff made of the finest bokote wood, and it was no ordinary staff.

Killian's staff was a useful weapon not only for striking enemies in times of need, but it could also be used as a gun-like sword stick.

People doing business and people walking along the street in a hurry recognized him and nodded or greeted him politely.

As he walked down the shopping street, he suddenly looked back at the gang members following him. It occurred to him that if he were to drag along a group of dark-skinned gang members and encounter them, Emily might be frightened.

“You guys should go back to headquarters now.”

"...All right."

Giovanni, who once again found Killian's order puzzling, turned his head and spotted a familiar carriage. It belonged to the Marquis of Starr.

“Hey, Ivan!”

Ivan, who had been sitting on the coachman's bench, jumped to his feet upon hearing Giovanni's voice. He hurriedly walked over to Killian and bowed.

“Boss, what are you doing here?”

Killian looked up at the Gallery Molineux, just in front of the carriage.

“Is my wife here?”

"Yes."

“How long has it been since she came inside?”

“It seems like almost an hour has passed.”

Giovanni, dizzy by Ivan's answer, urged him on.

“You left Madam alone for an hour?”

“Ha, but it’s broad daylight now and security is tight here...”

Ivan, who was upset about being scolded, wanted to follow Giovanni around all day long and show him his swollen feet.

Killian sighed and waved his hand.

"Yes, both of you stay here. I'll bring my wife out."

"All right."

Killian strode into the Gallery Molineux.

The employee at the main gate handed Killian a pamphlet containing news of the casino's opening.

“This is...”

Killian frowned and headed down to the basement, where the casino was.

He had a bad feeling about this.
