IWAEBS - Chapter 309 < Moiya's Extreme >

"They say the affection you nurture is scarier. That's so true."

I didn't miss this moment. Pretending to wipe away tears, I patted Rosie on the shoulder.

The party hall fell silent for a moment.

Taking advantage of this moment, I poked Catherine and Melanie on the back next to me.

Then, the two quickly chimed in.

"You can see how devoted Rosie has been to taking care of Rams. We've been watching from the side, so we know."

"I know. It never happened when Rams was in Rosie's arms... It's the first time I've seen Rams cry so loudly."

"Why, there was that one time. When the Princess threw Rams off the bridge over the valley."

Those words immediately caused a huge stir.

Even without a detailed explanation, it was shocking.

The noble ladies cautiously approached the concubines and asked about the incident.

The concubines kindly explained the incident to the ladies in detail.

Rosie, too, collapsed to the floor, sobbing.

The people inside the party were more agitated by Rosie's appearance than by Rams's biological mother, Princess Resilia.

Princess Resilia's embarrassment was visible.

The three young ladies, who had been mentioned as potential concubines, approached Princess Resilia.

"Princess, this is not right."

Ester said with a disappointed look.

"What? What do you know, young lady, to interfere?"

Princess Resilia retorted in a displeased tone.

"I can tell just by the way you treat Rams so rudely."

"That's right! Please return Rams to Her Highness Rosie immediately."

Glenn and Savannah also crossed their arms and raised their voices at Princess Resilia.

"Somehow, I felt something wasn't right when you asked for sausages..."

As Lady Ester muttered to herself, the ladies who had been dancing all nodded vigorously.

Princess Resilia, of course, didn't understand what she meant.

Moni hid behind my shoulder, covering her mouth and giggling.

I hadn't heard the full story from Moni yet, so I couldn't intervene.

Princess Resilia looked around and shrugged.

The ladies who had approached and shown her kindness must have felt the change in their expressions.

Furthermore, Rams continued to cry, making the situation even more dire.

"Can't you just stay still?"

Princess Resilia finally looked down at Rams and snapped.

She seemed to explode in anger at Rams persistent attempts to go to Rosie.

"I won't tolerate any more disgrace."

At that moment, Prince Norton warned, taking Rams from Princess Resilia's arms.

Princess Resilia, who had let her guard down and had Rams taken from her, looked up at Prince Norton with a look of resentment.

“Norton... how could you do this to me? Did you bring me here to embarrass me in front of everyone?”

“Just think who embarrassed you?”

Prince Norton spat out coldly, then walked over to Rosie and hugged Rams.

Rosie hugged Rams tightly, and surprisingly, Rams stopped crying.

This seemed to deeply move the ministers and nobles.

Applause could even be heard from somewhere.

“Let go, let go of this! I told you I’m Rams’s biological mother!”

Princess Resilia was dragged out of the party hall by the knights again at Prince Norton’s command.

Everyone clicked their tongues at Princess Resilia and looked favorably at Rosie, who was trying to calm Rams down.

“See? I told you a leaky bowl inside will break apart outside.”

Linel, who had come over to me, wrapped her arms around my waist.

“But, Your Majesty, did you know the Princess would be this broken?”

Perhaps that’s why he agreed to bring her back as quickly as possible.

“No. I didn’t know it would be this bad. Those guys did a great job. But, where did Moiya go?”

Linel looked around, stroking Moni, who had flown into his arms.

“Moni, I have to go get Moiya.”

“Yes, Master. Then do you forgive me?”

Moni asked in a charming voice.

The girl seemed to know what she had done wrong.

“Throwing Rams was dangerous. You always throw Rams with Moiya, right?”

“We throw Aoshi, too. Aoshi cries a lot, right? But Rams likes it. I feel so wronged... My only sin is catching Rams that Moiya threw, right, Moni~?”

Poor Aoshi.

I could imagine Aoshi going back and forth between the two, his white fur sticking up.

“Yes. Find Moiya and bring him back, and I’ll forgive you.”

Moni’s ruby eyes blinked at my words, then said,

“And I’ll give you sausages too.”

“Ah!”

Moni’s eyes sparkled with enthusiasm at Linel’s addition.

***

When we returned to the VIP room, Moiya and Moni were waiting for us on the bed, kneeling side by side.

The way they were kneeling and observing each other was quite cute, but they deliberately kept a serious expression.

“Why are you there?”

Linel asked Moni.

He motioned to Moni to come over to him, but Moni, surprisingly loyal, chose to continue kneeling next to Moiya.

If you’re so loyal, why did you bring Moiya here?

Oh, was it because I said I’d give you sausages?

Moiya raised both hands in the air and stood in punishment.

Moiya raised both hands herself.

But Moni’s friendship seemed to extend to her knees, and she didn’t raise her hands.

I looked from Moni to Moiya.

“Moiya, do you know what you did wrong?”

“It’s because Rams’s mother’s body isn’t flexible.”

“...What?”

“Her body is so stiff that I can’t show my form properly, Moiya~?”

Moiya could have danced better, but she said the Princess had cursed joints, so there was nothing she could do... Compared to that, Rosie grumbled that she was a mollusk. So, Moiya thinks I’m scolding him because he can’t dance the shoulder dance well?

I couldn’t believe it, but it’s true.

“Oh my, my head...”

I punched my forehead.

“That wasn’t your fault.”

Linel spoke to Moiya for me.

“Ow~? Then Moiya~?”

“You threw Rams at Moni. That was too dangerous.”

Moiya’s expression immediately turned aggrieved at Linel’s solemn voice.

“But we did that to entertain Rams?”

"That's right. Bounce back and forth like a ball, isn't that Rams' favorite pastime, Moni~?"

A hollow laugh erupted.

"What if Rams starts a fight...?"

I told them that, but I saw Rams' expression the moment he moved towards Moni.

Rams' face, beaming with joy, came to mind so clearly that I trailed off without realizing it.

"Rams was the one who liked it when we fell down the valley before, right, Moya~?"

"That's right! Rams seemed a bit taken aback earlier, wasn't he, Moni~?"

Linel and I were speechless.

It was obvious that scolding them any longer wouldn't have made a mistake.

Still, he was perceptive and reassured me.

"Master, Rams will never get hurt."

"Oh, I've thrown Rams with my eyes closed and never dropped him!"

Oh my.

You even threw him with your eyes closed?

I lost my balance and stumbled.

Linel supported me.

The two reminded me that they weren't ordinary humans, but great wyverns. So, there was no way they could make the mistake of dropping Rams.

With those words, I calmed down and collected my wits.

"Good. By the way, why did you enter Princess Resilia's body in the first place? Why did you dance with the ladies here?"

I heard Moiya's mind wander at my words. He seemed to be weighing whether or not that was something worth getting in trouble for.

"Does it have something to do with the sausage?"

I asked again, recalling what Moni had told me.

"Well... the ladies were curious about the secret to Rosie's capture of Norton's heart."

"...So?"

"I received it in exchange for sharing the secret. We earned it fairly, Moiya~?"

Moiya spoke clearly, his expression utterly confident.

"You're not wrong."

Linel nodded and smiled.

I nudged his side with my elbow and countered,

"Rosie didn't win Prince Norton's heart with the dance. So you're saying it's not wrong?"

I burst out laughing.

“...No? I heard it myself?”

“Huh?”

“I heard it directly from Prince Norton’s own mouth once.”

“!”

“He said he couldn’t get the shoulder dance Rosie did at the party while staring at him. Was it the handkerchief game at the hunting competition? Rosie did it again then. He thought it was adorable. Of course, both times it was Rosie with Moiya inside her body.”

“Am I right, Master?”

At his testimony, Moiya slowly lowered his arms, made a subtle heart shape above his head, and smiled with his eyes.

So was the shoulder dance really the secret to Rosie’s capture of Prince Norton’s heart?

Knock knock.

Just as the laughter was about to burst out, a knock was heard.

Linel walked to the door and opened it herself.

“I came to say thank you, Moiya.”

It was Prince Norton’s visitor. Rosie was with him.

“Are you Moiya’s guests?”

Linel smirked and turned to Moiya.

Moiya hadn’t specifically intended to help Rosie, but it was clear that his perception of Rosie had changed for the better.

The two men found Moiya and Moni kneeling on the bed, their eyes wide.

“They were my benefactors, but here they are being punished.”

Prince Norton continued with an awkward smile.

“Thanks to Moiya, public opinion among the ministers and nobles is changing. Oh, and thanks to Moni for safely receiving Rams.”

Prince Norton added with a wink at Moni, who smiled back.

“Oh? Why is someone who says they’re grateful empty-handed?”

Moiya twitched her cheek in displeasure.

“Wouldn’t sausages be okay?”

Prince Norton asked affectionately, one corner of his mouth raised.

“I already earned plenty of sausages.”

“Where are the sausages you said you earned?”

He looked around the room just in case, but there were no sausages in our room.

“Oh, right! They’re in Princess Resilia’s room. What if that crazy head eats them all by herself? We have to hurry, Moni~!”

Moni fussed and flapped Moiya’s wings.

“Since Norton is the owner here, will you give me permission? I can go.”

Moiya jumped up from the bed and quickly asked Prince Norton for permission before I could say anything.

“Yes. You deserve it, since it was rightfully earned through your efforts from the young ladies.”

Since Prince Norton had given his permission, there was no reason to stop him.

“Fine. But you can’t cause any more trouble. And you can’t fight with anyone. Just bring the sausages and come quickly. Understood?”

Moiya and Moni shouted “Yes!” at the same time and disappeared out the window in the blink of an eye.

“They’ll be okay, right?”

Rosie asked with a worried look on her face.

“Yeah, as long as they can get the sausages back safely.”

I said, watching the two of them hold hands and fly to the Empress’s Palace with powerful wings.

***

After Princess Resilia was kicked out of the party hall, she was immediately sent to the Empress’ Palace by the knights.

At Prince Norton’s request, Princess Jasper arrived at the Empress’ Palace first and was waiting for the Princess.

As expected, Princess Resilia screamed from the lobby of the Empress's Palace, making a fuss as she tried to get back to the party.

"Princess, please keep your dignity."

Crown Princess Jasper reassured her in a commanding voice.

The words had already been shattered by Moiya, but she chose them because she couldn't think of anything to calm Princess Resilia down.

"Am I being self-conscious now? You saw that concubine snatch Rams right before your eyes! I don't understand why you invited people to the party and then suddenly ordered knights to drag me out."

Princess Resilia complained with a wounded face.

"Really... don't you remember? Are you drunk?"

Crown Princess Jasper watched Princess Resilia chatting with the young ladies and drinking several glasses of wine and champagne.

But she didn't seem drunk enough to commit such outrageous acts in succession.

"Of course, I remember being with the young ladies,"

Princess Resilia replied with a sharp frown.

Princess Jasper took that to mean she remembered the ridiculous dance with the young ladies.

Well, if she had been in her right mind, she wouldn't have shaken up her son, Rams, so recklessly.

"Call Prince Norton. Please, I beg you!"

Princess Resilia grabbed Princess Jasper's arm and sagged.

"Go back to your room for now. I'll bring Prince Norton over."

Princess Jasper soothed her and sent her up to the guest room where she was staying.

***

"Something's wrong. My head is a mess..."

Princess Resilia returned to her room, playing with her long pink hair, lost in thought.

Her whole body ached as if she had a cold.

“Why are my shoulders so sore that I can’t even turn them?”

Princess Resilia turned her stiff shoulders, looked into the mirror, then glanced back.

“...Uh, what’s all that?!”

Clearly, there was a pile of things in front of the bed that hadn’t been there before they headed to the party.

Upon closer inspection, she saw all sorts of sausages.

“Why are there so many sausages...”

Was someone playing a joke on her?

Princess Resilia’s temper flared at the sight of the unexpected pile of sausages.

“I’m so pissed, but how dare you make fun of me and pull this prank?!”

It must have been the ladies who had approached her as if they were on her side, only to change their tune and take Rosie’s side.

“Princess, our ‘present’ has been sent to the room you’re staying in.”

While chatting at the party, a young woman's words suddenly flashed through my mind.

"These cheeky bastards!"

I was expecting them to suddenly mention gifts, but then I heard,

"What? Sausages? Ha, hahaha!"

Princess Resilia burst into laughter and kicked the baskets and boxes containing sausages with her feet.

The sausages came in all kinds and colors.

This only upset the Princess even more.

"These should've all been jewels! How dare you tease me, Rams's biological mother, like this?"

Seeing the sausages, her anger seething after Rosie stole Rams, exploded.

Princess Resilia began trampling all the sausages with her shoes.

"Ahhh! That pink-headed thing is my sausage!"

Moiya, shocked by Princess Resilia's actions outside the window, hurried into the room.

Princess Resilia jumped in surprise at Moiya and Moni's visit.

“Huh? They said they could fly around freely, and it really was. The world has become a better place. Someone like Zelda is a wyvern lord.”

Princess Resilia had heard from Crown Princess Jasper that two baby wyverns were freely roaming the palace.

It was fascinating to see them up close, but the wyverns weren’t the problem right now.

“You sausage murderer!”

Moiya flew in front of Princess Resilia’s face, clenching his fists and trembling.

“You, you...?”

“Yes, I’m Lord Moiya! Do you know what’s at your feet?”

“...What, a sausage?”

“That’s not a sausage. That was the reward for my hard work!”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Who are you to destroy my hard work and cause trouble! Yes, you too, get crushed today!”

As soon as Moiya finished speaking, he grabbed Princess Resilia’s hair with both hands.

Princess Resilia also grabbed the two horns on Moiya’s head with her hands and shook them violently.

“Ah! This wyvern cub has gone crazy! Hey, don’t you let me go?”

“I’ll bite you for all your hard work. I told you to bite me!”

A melee broke out.

“Huh? Master told us not to fight, didn’t she, Moni~?”

Moni stamped her feet in the air, remembering Zelda’s earnest request.

She had to stop the fight quickly.

Moni blew fire at Princess Resilia’s hair.

“...Gah! My head!!”

“Kwaaaaak-!”

Moni didn’t know a faster way to stop a fight than this.
