In an instant, I, who was staring at his back in the dark shadow with a stiff expression, hurriedly crossed the room.
I could vaguely see him turn in the dark. I straightened my hand. I felt the feel of the stiff bandage covering my bare skin.
"Are you hurt?"
"It was just a light scratch during the demon defeat."
"Oh, it's a light scratch. What kind of monster was it?"
How could a man with tremendous strength that could easily subdue even a wyvern be hurt by chance?
Looking up at the outline of his face with wide-eyed eyes, Barcas replied in a sighing voice.
"There was a pair of Drakhar males and females in the north. It's a rare monster, so I don't want to damage the skin..."
My touch touched his bare chest, and he suddenly stopped talking.
I moved my fingertips along the bandage, determined to check the depth of the wound. A thick cloth was wrapped around his left shoulder and chest diagonally.
"How bad is it?"
"It's not a big deal."
"Turn on the light. I can't see it well."
Taking a deep breath, Barcas stretched out his arms and pulled back the curtains hanging from the window.
I stared blankly at him, surrounded by blue light.
Dark, dark clouds covered the entire sky, but it was not very dark, so it was not difficult to see his entire body.
Barcas was standing barefoot on the rug, wearing only wide Eastern woolen pants, holding a medicine bottle in one hand, as if he was doing a hand-made treatment.
Seeing this, I raised my voice.
"Why didn't you call a healer? If you fix it with magic...!"
"Drakhar's claws are stained with poison that is resistant to magic. Healing magic doesn't work at all until it's a natural detox."
Barcas bluntly replied and turned to the shelf. Thanks to this, I was able to look at his back right in front of my nose.
Barcas's body was like a building that thoroughly excluded unnecessary elements.
Dense muscles were nestled tightly on a solid skeleton that formed a perfect sculpture, and tense tendons protruded like elaborate embossed patterns on the marble-like skin. Even the bandage around his body was so beautiful that it looked like an ornament to show off his strong body.
"The toxin will be removed in about a week, and then you can cast a healing spell."
Barcas put down the vial and added bluntly.
I, who had a stunned expression, came to my senses and lowered my eyes awkwardly.
"...Aren't you hurt?"
"Not at all."
In response to the overly dry response, I looked suspicious.
Certainly, there was no sign of pain anywhere in Barcas's gesture as he put on his shirt. Still, I couldn't let go of my mind and asked impatiently.
"Is it really okay?"
"Don't worry, you won't have any problems getting things done."
He said in a nonchalant tone.
I looked up at him with a look on my face that looked like I had been slapped in the face.
"Do you think I'm disguised for doing that with you?"
"Didn't you come to find me to sleep?"
The man tilted his head to one side and gave me a puzzled look. Rather than meant to be sarcastic, it was just a tone of confirming the facts.
For a moment, I was speechless. It was right that I came to sleep with him.
I blushed and groped.
"Don't get me wrong. I didn't come here because I wanted you. I'm just trying to have a child...."
"Don't worry. I have never misunderstood your intentions."
Barcas cut off my excuses in a calm tone.
Talla curled her lips in. I should have been relieved that he didn't doubt my words. But why is my heart so tight?
"Anyway, I have no intention of holding on to an Injured person and making a fool of myself. So light a fire in the fireplace."
"...Are you going to stay in this room?"
At that moment, surprise crossed his face.
I blurred my face. This man really seemed to believe that I was treating him for that purpose only.
Even though I had been trying to look like that, I felt strange when Barcas didn't seem to notice my feelings at all.
I took a step back, keeping my gaze fixed on the floor.
"If you don't like me, say yes. I... go back to my room."
"Please stay here."
He wrapped his arms around me and said.
I looked up in amazement.
"You were the one who always said you didn't want to be here, right? I always asked you to stay."
I looked up at him with confused eyes, and soon looked down at his hands.
After having a relationship with Barcas, I always felt vulnerable. I was nervous because I didn't know when his hand would touch my legs, and I was worried that my unattractive appearance would be revealed in his vision, that he had become accustomed to the darkness.
Above all, I was afraid that his touch and longing for warmth would grow beyond my control.
However...
I looked at him with a cautious gaze, surrounded by a bluish light.
A white bandage could be seen through the open shirt. The way he looked down at me with his wet hair back, his forehead exposed, and he looked down at me, making him look like a lonely boy.
The seemingly harmless appearance broke my vigilance.
"Well, I'll go after a while. If we go on like this, the nanny will nag me..."
The clumsy excuse caused fine wrinkles in the corners of his eyes. I was hot. It was like confessing that the nanny was pressuring me to get pregnant.
He spat out coldly.
"If she is annoying, I will send her back to the imperial palace."
"No!"
I cried out in a seizure.
"Just do it! I will never let you go!"
He looked down at me with indescribable eyes. He didn't understand why I didn't let go of a woman who was secretly treating me carelessly.
I raised my voice as if defending.
"She's the one who has taken care of me since I was a baby. She is like my own mother."
"..."
"Send the nanny back to the imperial palace, and I will go back with her."
When I shot firmly, his brow hardened.
The man, who had been pursing his lips as if he was about to say something, then sighed and turned to the fireplace.
"Don't stand like that, sit down."
Then, instead of calling for servants, he began to light the fire himself.
I was relieved that the topic had changed and quietly approached him.
"Leave that to the servants, and you can sit still and rest."
"This is fine."
Soon after, flames burned on the firewood. I, who was restlessly pacing, immediately tugged at the hem of his clothes.
"Sit down quickly."
I dragged him to the side of the bed and pressed his shoulder, and he gave me a strange look.
I wonder if it's amazing that a woman who has always been pushing away somehow tries to take care of him.
The man, who had been staring at me for a while, soon sat down on the seat. I relaxed and turned to the cabinet.
"You say they have a poison? Shouldn't I take something like an antipyretic? Or painkillers..."
"I don't feel hurt, I don't have a fever."
I listened to his reproach and rummaged through the chest of drawers. Soon, I was able to find a medicine bottle containing the essence of making it.
After opening the lid and checking the contents, I poured it into a teacup and held it out to him.
"Come on, come on, drink."
Barcas just stared down at the teacup.
Is it doubtful that I will feed you something strange?
I glared at him with dark eyes, and Barcas touched my waist and said.
"If Your Highness feeds me, I will drink it."
I looked down at him, doubting my ears. Barcas didn't change his face, calmly waiting for my answer. The thought that had stopped at that carefree appearance finally began to work.
"Yes, drink with your hands!"
"I've always fed you, haven't I? Now it's time to pay off your debts."
I looked at him and the vial alternately with a hot face.
The way he casually made a shameless request suddenly made me feel sick.
I, who was about to shout that I didn't want to, changed my mind and took a sip of bitter essence.
His eyes widened slightly, as if he didn't know that I would really respond.
I clutched his face and pressed my lips over his pale, soap-smelling lips. Then, as if naturally, his arms wrapped around my waist.
I, who had been inadvertently grabbing his shoulder, felt the feel of the thick bandage and angrily pulled my hand away.
Meanwhile, his slippery tongue gently poked between my lips.
I carefully poured the sap into his mouth. However, it didn't work out as skillfully as he did. Looking up, feeling the overflowing liquid moisten the corners of my mouth, Barcas grabbed my cheek and licked my chin.
Before I knew it, we were lying on the bed, hugging each other. Feeling his body hardened by excitement weighing on my stomach, I hurriedly raised my upper body.
"No, you said you wouldn't do it until the wound healed."
"I won't do anything more. Just stay like this."
Barcas gently swept my head down and muttered in a locked volce. I, who was trying to push him away, immediately lost my strength.
The sound of a dull heart was mixed with the noisy sound of rain and the sound of firewood burning.
