TWDR - Chapter 69

Gremory's eyes were horrible.

"I don't know."

"His Highness did not choose his clothes carefully for Princess Ortega. Before going to that ball, he wanted to have a more special and glamorous time with Miss Mori."

"...Really?"

"Could it be that His Highness the Grand Duke chose his clothes while thinking about others? He only knows Miss Mori. Well, there is only a little bit left until 10 o'clock. Take off your pajamas!"

Anna dressed Gremory. Gremory obediently changed his clothes with a fresh heart. The head was adorned with sapphire ornaments from the box. When she put on her last light makeup, Gremory looked beautiful enough to catch anyone's eye.

Standing in front of the full-length mirror, Gremory was in a daze for a moment in front of her figure. She was fascinated by the most beautiful image of herself that Chession had carefully created.

Somewhere in her heart was rumbling. She felt like she was floating comfortably.

"Miss, are you impressed? That's just the kind of face you have."

"Impressed?"

"I can't help but be moved. It's a gift that His Highness chose for the only young lady, thinking about what would be most suitable for you."

Gremory smiled comfortably and looked around herself. While pondering the newly realized emotion.

'This is what a gift is. Now I know what gift to give to Chession.'

Anna smiled happily and held out her hand to Gremory.

"Miss, come on. Can I escort you to the ballroom?"

"Do you want to?"

Gremory happily took Anna's hand and headed to the ballroom.

In front of the Midnight Ballroom building when she arrived, the trees around it were decorated with glowing magic quartz. Quartz, emitting a faint light, brilliantly illuminated the entrance to the ballroom.

"Wow... Miss, isn't the decoration too pretty? I feel like I moved the Milky Way here."

"Yes. I feel like I'm in a forest of fresh greenery."

"The young lady's dress fits this scenery so well. His Highness must have thought of this scenery and chose the young lady's clothes, right? It's so romantic!"

Gremory reached out as if enchanted by the quartz hanging from the branch. The white and warm light resembled the look in Chession's eyes that made her feel at ease.

When she reached the front door of the ballroom, Anna let go of Gremory's hand.

"Please go in here by yourself. I don't want to interfere with your date."

"Yes, go and sleep."

"Have a great time!"

Anna waved her hand cheerfully and left.

Gremory walked into the ballroom with light steps.

In the vast hall, only Chession stood.

Wearing the uniform that he chose so evenly during the day, and looking the most beautiful.

He smiled broadly at Gremory, who had accepted the invitation.

"Are you here? I was worried what would happen if you didn't come."

"What is all this situation?"

"Before I went to dance with ugly Catherine, I wanted to give you a more wonderful dance."

Chession lowered his posture and reached out to Gremory.

"Mori, will you allow me to give you the best dance?"

"...Oh."

Chession's gentle gaze searched Gremory's eyes. Gremory's black eyes were shining. The appearance was so cute that Chession was disappointed.

"I'm going to Catherine's ball tomorrow in an uglier uniform than this. And I'm going to twist my foot a few times in the middle of the dance."

"...Your partner is going to be uglier than me."

"That's right."

"Don't make eye contact while dancing with that girl."

"Yes. I'll never run into her."

Gremory slowly took Chession's hand. At the same time, a magic sound was activated, soft music played, and the ball began just for the two of them.

Chession moved slowly in time with Gremory's footsteps. Gremory continued to dance, trying not to step on the top of Chession's feet.

"Chession."

"Yes."

"I'm worried about prom day. I'm afraid the witches will target you again."

The best virtue of a witch is to hide her existence from humans. That's why she was worried that the witches wouldn't openly reveal their existence and overturn the ballroom.

"It's okay. Kurchen gave me useful things."

"What is it?"

"When a witch approaches, a sachet with a peculiar scent. If you have it, you can tell that the witch is approaching. So I won't be attacked defenselessly like before."

"That's enough to make me uneasy. I also carry the holy relics."

"Of course it has to go around."

"Then it's safe."

"Are you really relieved?"

"Yes"

Then focus on me now.

Chession got close to the hook and lifted Gremory's body. As it went around, the hem of Gremory's dress spread out.

Chession looked lovingly at Gremory, who had wide eyes. Showing such an honest and cute reaction made him want to be mischievous for no reason.

Chook.

Chession kissed Gremory briefly on the forehead. Soon, a faint blush rose on Gremory's face. Even in the midst of this, the dance did not stop.

Chook.

Once again, when he kissed her on the cheek, the flush intensified. Gremory seemed to be pondering something for a moment, then suddenly became serious.

"In the first place, at prom, do you kiss while dancing? I've never heard of anything like this."

"Sometimes."

"You do this only to me."

"Of course."

"If you do it to Catherine, I'll kill you."

Gremory's eyes flashed red. Feeling eerie, Chession decided to stop playing pranks.

The music is over. Chession wrapped his hands around Gremory's face and kissed her. For quite a long time.

And when he takes his lips off.

"Even if you don't say that, I'll only do it to you."

"...Yes."

Gremory's face was now as hot as a ripe peach. Gremory, who felt a heat on her face, turned her face away in embarrassment for no reason.

That's also for a while. She sprained her ankle and had to be captured by Chession.

"Ugh!"

"I'm sorry, I guess I sent too high a shoe. I thought this would be fine."

"It's okay. This can be cured immediately with just one... strength."

It could be cured, but because of the relic shield, even if she gave it strength, the witch's healing power was not unleashed.

"I'll hug you. Let's go."

Chession hugged Gremory's body. Then they left the ballroom just for the two of them.

The whole time she left, Gremory thought as she held Chession in his arms. She doesn't know why her heart keeps pounding. It was as if there was an arrhythmia on the witch subject.

***

Gremory and Chession had quite a sarcastic face.

In this ball, they had to deal with two types of enemies. Duke Ortega is trying to get involved with Chession, and a witch chaser who might be trying to target Chession again.

While the two were away, Alice took over the protection of Grand Duke Ethel. She put up a holy relic, but she doesn't know.

That's how the carriage moved forward. With a not-so-welcome invitation to a place where something big might happen.

The garden of the Duke of Ortega at sunset.

It was very ornately decorated. It was Catherine's work that she decided to look good on Chession.

Catherine was standing in the middle of the garden, dressed like a rich bouquet of flowers, smiling with the guests. Then, suddenly, there was silence, and the guests noticed and began to leave.

It's coming. Catherine noticed and looked back with sunken eyes.

After all, Grand Duke Chession Ethel brought his lover with him. Even with a partner here.

As Chession and Gremory got closer, Catherine smiled brightly and lowered her posture to greet them.

"It is an honor to accept my invitation, Your Highness Grand Duke Ethel. And Mori."

She greeted Mori with her mouth, but Catherine's gaze was fixed solely on Chession.

Chession looked at Catherine with a nonchalant gaze, neither cold nor warm. With a moderately polite smile.

"Thank you for your support of the holy relics. Thanks to Duke Ortega, I was able to put the relics to good use where they were needed."

"I, too, thank you for being my ball partner. I was so happy that I couldn't sleep."

Catherine smiled and glanced at Gremory's face. She hoped she would be slightly shaken by the provocation, but the woman looked surprisingly calm.

No, in fact, she didn't seem to care about this situation at all. That attitude stimulated Catherine's sense of victory.

"Come to think of it, this is the first time that Your Highness has participated in an event of the Duke of Ortega. I would like to introduce you to the garden. Is that okay?"

Catherine clung to Chession's arm. Then Gremory looked at Catherine for a moment.

"Let's have a good time."

She waved her hand calmly and left.
