IWAEBS - Chapter 242 < It's Because of the Sausage >

"Do you know where the human cub is?"

"Yeah, the human cub really likes me. So I sometimes go by myself to show my face, Moiya~."

"Wow... You're secretly kind!"

Moiya giggled secretly, covering his mouth with his hand as Moni poked Moiya's ribs and praised him.

"Oh? You went there just for the fun of waking him up and making him cry when he's sleeping soundly?"

Besides, the sausage he'd stolen from Raphael's sister's kitchen tasted exquisite.

"But Rams is Norton's baby, so why did Rosie raise him?"

"Norton asked Rosie to keep him for a while. Ugh. What a petty brat."

"Wow, shouldn't you have offered him a sausage or something? Even his father is shameless, Moni~."

“Anyway, that’s why Rams ended up living secretly in Rosie’s bedroom like Aoshi and I. You can think of Rams as actually raised by Moiya.”

Moiya said smugly.

“You raised him, not Rosie? Then that human cub is yours, you should bring him home, right~?”

“Tch, don’t say such horrible things!”

Moiya jumped up and became serious.

“If he walks around like Joseph and pretends to be human, what would happen then? Now he’s just a worthless cub who can’t even control his poop and pee?”

Then, his red eyes gleamed with mischief, and he smirked.

“But I wonder what kind of human will take Rams over, Moiya~?”

“Ah! I’m curious too, Moiya~!”

The two wyvern cubs held hands and flew to Raphael’s sister’s house.

***

The wyvern cubs were the fastest-moving creatures, faster than the guilds that moved quickly and nimbly, and faster than the horses that ran tirelessly through the wind.

The two wyvern cubs arrived at the mansion where Raphael's sister lived and landed in front of the window of the room where Rams mostly stayed.

It was a room located in the middle of the second floor.

Rams was flailing about on his short limbs in his wooden crib.

"Oh? No one's stolen it yet?"

"That's right. It's not fun, is it, Moni~?"

"Huh? Someone's coming in."

Moiya and Moni opened the window and were about to enter the room when they saw the door open, but they crouched down and hid themselves.

A woman who appeared to be a servant entered carrying a tray. On the tray were a baby bottle and a plate of grilled sausages.

The servant placed the tray on the table and left, and a few minutes later, Raphael's sister entered the room.

"Rams~ It's time for Mamma to eat."

Raphael's sister walked towards Rams with the baby bottle on the tray, but stopped, examined the bottle carefully, and shook her head.

“Oh my! Emma’s doing this again.”

The maid had become increasingly lax lately, often switching Rams’s bottles with Patry’s, the youngest in the family.

Rams and Patry’s feedings differed, but Raphael’s sister was careful not to mix their bottles.

One time, too lazy to go back to the kitchen, she gave Rams Patry’s bottle, but he, like a ghost, knew it wasn’t his and refused to drink the formula.

Since then, she’d only given Rams the bottle he used.

“Why do you keep putting Patry’s bottle here?”

Raphael’s sister complained to the maid who’d just brought him the bottle.

“Oh my, why did you put this here again?”

Not only that, but Emma had also left the snack her fourth daughter had asked for—a grilled sausage—in Rams’s room.

“I’m going to have to give her a harsh warning today. I can’t.”

Raphael's sister placed a hand on her waist and sighed deeply.

"Rams, I'll make you some more mammies soon and bring them back. Just wait a minute, okay?"

Raphael's sister patted Rams's head affectionately and left the room again.

However, she herself forgot the plate of sausages, her fourth daughter's snack.

There was a creature who was excited because of her.

"I love you!"

Moiya, with an excited face, quickly opened the window and rushed towards the sausages.

Rams waved his hand wildly, delighted to see Moiya.

"Yes, that's right. How are you, brother?"

Moiya gave Rams a vague wave and picked up the sausages.

"This unexpected encounter is truly thrilling, Moiya~."

They were much thicker than the sausages usually served at the palace.

"Is this really where I live?"

Moiya, who was savoring the taste of a sausage as big as his forearm, exclaimed in a voice filled with emotion,

"Is it that good? This one looks delicious, too, with its chubby cheeks. Hey, let go of that."

Moni stepped inside the bed bumper to get a closer look at Rams's face, but a finger was grabbed.

Rams brought Moni's finger to his mouth and sucked it like a baby bottle.

"Moni, just sacrifice your finger. If you don't, he'll cry and throw a tantrum. I'll leave your sausage."

Moiya said, setting aside the smallest sausage on the plate for Moni.

Moni then sat down next to Rams and glared at the window.

"Huh? I think they've finally come to steal him. I sense a strange presence outside the window. It's coming this way! We need to hide!"

Moiya, sensing something strange, quickly looked around the room.

"This corner of the room is no place to hide."

The only furniture was a crib and a table. The floor was covered with a mink carpet for Rams to crawl and play safely on, and one wall was lined with shelves filled with dolls and toys.

"I can't just leave him alone,"

Moiya said firmly.

Moni, who was looking down at Rams, who was mumbling, was slightly touched by Moiya's determination.

"Ah, but I guess I feel a sense of obligation because I spent time with Rams."

She looked at Moiya with that thought.

"...That's ridiculous, Moni~,"

Moni muttered in disappointment.

Moiya was talking to the sausage. When he said he couldn't just leave it, he was referring not to Rams but to the sausage in hia hand.

"I don't know who it is, but they're almost there. What do we do now?"

Moni crossed her arms and spun in the air.

"Moni, you go sit among the dolls over there. You have to pretend to be a doll, so don't even blink."

"And you?"

Moni asked, squeezing into the middle of the doll display shelf as soon as Moiya finished speaking.

"This great Wyvern too..."

He was about to sit down next to Moni.

He thought, "I'll just sit and watch while secretly eating my sausages."

Knock-knock— The window opened cautiously.

“Tch, my pride is hurt.”

It was too far to fly to the shelf where Moni sat like a doll.

Moiya had no choice but to fly to the bed right next to him, holding the sausage, and enter Rams’s body.

***

“I will go to the Imperial City to block the fastest route to the Southern Continent!”

As soon as I crossed the drawbridge of the Imperial Palace, Commander Macrom said to me.

“Macrom, please.”

“Yes, just in case, take care.”

“I will.”

Commander Macrom and the knights he led split up their forces to block all routes to the Imperial City, leading to the Pasha Empire.

I rode with Grand Duke  Martins to Raphael’s sister’s house.

After riding without stopping, I was able to catch up with the carriage carrying Prince Norton and Rosie.

“Stop the carriage, Prince Norton!”

Grand Duke  Martins shouted, and the carriage carrying the two slowly stopped in the middle of the road.

“Grand Duke  Martins?”

Prince Norton poked his face out of the carriage window.

“Even Your Majesty... What brings you here?”

Even Rosie, sitting in front of him, was startled at the sight of me pulling up next to the carriage.

Prince Norton and Rosie looked back and forth between me and Grand Duke  Martins, bewildered.

“We’re in trouble. Princess Resilia has hired the guild to kidnap Rams. I’m sorry, but likely, they’ve already taken Rams.”

“What? Is that... true?!”

“Yes, but don’t worry too much. Commander Macrom and the knights will block all routes to the Pasha Empire.”

“...Is this really Resilia’s plan to take Rams to the Pasha Imperial Palace?”

“I heard it directly from the Princess, so it must be true. She plans to hire the guilds to take Rams to your homeland.”

Grand Duke  Martins, who relayed the message, also had a pained expression.

Prince Norton seemed to have yet to accept the reality.

The Prince stared at Grand Duke  Martins for a moment before hastily getting out of the carriage.

"Commander Macrom said he's blocking all routes to the Southern Continent, so they'll catch us soon."

I quickly added, trying to calm Prince Norton, who was seething with anger.

"I'll go to Sister Raphael's house. It might be before the guilds take Rams away."

Prince Norton ordered one of the knights to dismount and immediately mounted.

Just as he was about to gallop, Sir Rolf, Grand Duke  Martins's escort knight, appeared.

Before leaving the villa, Grand Duke  Martins ordered Sir Rolf to tail Princess Resilia.

Sir Rolf, who had been tailing the Princess, came looking for them...

“What happened?”

Grand Duke  Martins asked Sir Rolf.

“Princess Resilia has been captured in the Forest of Kashas!”

“Is our Rams, Rams, safe?”

Prince Norton asked, his face still tense even after hearing that Princess Resilia had been captured.

“Yes, Prince. However, the Princess has taken Rams hostage... and has threatened to keep him away, so we are facing off against the knights on the bridge across the valley...”

“Damn Resilia!”

Prince Norton burst out, unable to suppress his surging anger.

“How could you take your own son as a hostage?”

Rosie bit her lower lip and swallowed her anger.

Not only me, but everyone in the group muttered curses in a low voice and frowned.

“Is Kashas Forest the fastest route to the Pasha Empire?”

I calmed down and asked Grand Duke  Martins.

“Yes, that’s right. It’s a must-pass for anyone traveling from the Imperial Palace to the Southern Continent. We’ve come quite far in a short time.”

“So, have all the guilds that kidnapped Rams been captured by Commander Macrom?”

I breathed a sigh of relief and asked Sir Rolf.

“Yes, Commander Macrom has dealt with all but one of the guilds accompanying the princess.”

Yes, we need to keep one member of the guild alive to testify to this.

“Let’s go quickly. The Princess might do something reckless. Sir Rolf, guide us to Kashas Forest immediately!”

“Yes, Your Highness Zelda!”

I shouted, turning my horse, and the others prepared to gallop.

“If something happens to Rams, I won’t let it be...”

Prince Norton muttered to himself and was the first to follow Sir Rolf, riding furiously toward Kashas Forest.

***

“Sir Stiane!”

Sharon ran up the main staircase of the main palace without stopping and dashed down the hallway to the office floor.

“Sharon, why are you running like this?”

Stiane barely managed to catch Sharon as she passed the office, unable to keep up with her running speed.

“Gasp, gasp, gasp... Sir Stiane. Gasp, gasp...”

Sharon was out of breath, so Stiane calmed her down.

“Breathe slowly. You’re out of breath from running so fast.”

“No, I have to see His Majesty, His Majesty! It’s urgent!”

“His Majesty is in an important private meeting right now, so I think we should wait.”

Raphael, who was just coming out of the office, asked Sharon.

Linel was in the middle of an intimate conversation with Marquis Astor, Pecilini’s father, about Prince Tesla’s trial.

“It has to do with Her  Majesty, no, Her Highness Zelda!”

Then the conversation changed.

His Majesty considers Her Highness Zelda the most important person.

Raphael quickly entered the office without hesitation.

Before Sharon could even catch her breath, Marquis Astor emerged from the office.

Raphael saw the Marquis off, then opened the office door for Sharon and motioned for her to come in.

“What’s the matter, Sharon? What happened to Zelda?”

Linel asked Sharon as he walked near the office door.

“Lord Rams, to be exact.”

“Lord Rams?”

“Yes, when Her Highness heard that Princess Resilia and the Guild were planning to kidnap Lord Rams, she and Grand Duke Martins quickly rode out of the palace!”

“What?!”

Linel’s blue eyes darkened.

“I understand that Norton and Rosie have already departed for Raphael’s sister’s house?”

“Yes, Your Majesty. But when I heard that the two rode in a carriage…”

"Zelda... rushed out on horseback to catch up with them and tell them the news?"

"Yes..."

"Haa!"

Linel sighed, placing a hand on his forehead.

He left the office with a pensive expression and ordered Raphael,

"Get out of the palace immediately!"

"Yes, Your Majesty!"
