Episode 27. The Lady of the Fairy Tales
Terion stared blankly at the person standing before him.
Renisha Lottera.
The Empress of this empire, who had cast off her crown.
Terion swallowed hard.
After worshipping Lottera so much, was it Kassius who did this?
Perhaps the reason he hadn't come back last night was to commit such a mad act.
Terion turned his head and stared at Kassius.
Terion pulled Kassius closer.
He knew it was rude, but he had to say something he couldn't say in front of Renisha.
Having gained some distance from Renisha, Terion spoke in a low voice.
"Are you crazy!"
"What?"
"Are you trying to run away with Her Majesty the Empress? Are you suggesting we all die together?"
"No way."
Kassius shook his head briefly.
"I finally became a Duke, and Hiloshine is mine."
Kassius, his face weary from lack of sleep, handed Terion the parchment he was holding.
Terion looked at Kassius with a suspicious look and unfolded it.
As Kassius had said, he had become a Duke.
“And as you said, the Emperor intends to marry me. This whole thing is a theatrical performance orchestrated by the Emperor.”
“...Ah.”
Terion groaned briefly.
Indeed, as he had suspected, the Emperor had left his wife to Kassius.
Renisha stood in the desolate garden with her people, her expression solemn.
“Is the story over now?”
Renisha asked softly.
“Sir Kassius.”
Kassius quickly ran to Renisha’s side at her call.
Terion stared blankly.
He heard Kassius’s voice answer, following her like a loyal puppy.
“Yes. Come in. It may be shabby, but I hope you will make yourself at home.”
Renisha smiled.
As if trying to stir a spring breeze in Kassius's heart, she brightly said,
"Yes. I apologize for the shabby place."
Renisha said playfully and entered the messy mansion with her people.
Terion thought quietly,
"This is a dream."
Tesha stamped his foot.
"W-what is this?"
Why on earth is Renisha here...
His mind went blank in a situation he had never imagined.
Tesha stared at hia toes.
Renisha had arrived. To where Tesha was.
The modest mansion quickly became tidy.
Those who had come with Renisha skillfully went about their business.
The knights who had been living in the mansion, unable to adapt to the sudden change, rushed out to the training grounds.
The knights huddled together and put their heads together.
"What on earth is going on?"
Unlike Terion, they had no idea, so the confusion grew.
"I heard she's the Empress."
"Empress?"
"Princess of Lottera?"
“Why is she here?”
“Sir Kassius... No. I think she said Lord Kassius.”
“You should call him Your Highness, the Duke!”
“My goodness. I don’t know what’s going on.”
The knights clutched their heads.
“There are more women in the mansion.”
“I thought she was going to stay here with him?”
“No. He said we were leaving soon.”
“What?”
“He was granted a territory, wasn’t he? We’re going there!”
“Anyway, there are more women in the mansion.”
The knights all fell silent. They were different from Madame Turiel and her staff, who occasionally visited.
They were people who would live with them here.
And it would be the same in the territory they were leaving.
It was an unfamiliar situation in many ways.
And then the head maid, one of the ones who had thrown the knights into confusion in the training ground, appeared.
“So this is the training ground?”
“Ugh!”
“Ugh!”
The knights jumped at the unexpected appearance.
Watching the knights scurrying toward the edge of the training grounds, screaming, Lindy absentmindedly thought,
"They look like sheep being chased by a shepherd across a meadow."

Watching the knights scurrying toward the edge of the training grounds, screaming, Lindy absentmindedly thought,
"They look like sheep being chased by a shepherd across a meadow."
They were too big and sturdy to be sheep, but Lindy somehow found this mansion appealing.
Renisha wanted to quickly assess the situation at the mansion.
Lindy was touring the mansion, having received permission from Kassius and Renisha.
While it was generally run-down, it had a long history.
With proper care, it would serve as a townhouse in the capital.
She heard they weren't leaving right away.
In the meantime, they could renovate and repair the mansion.
Besides, there were some sturdy sheep out there who would roll up their sleeves for the mansion.
Linday smiled like a wolf chasing sheep.
Terion stared at Kassius and Renisha with a strange expression.
Kassius sat next to Renisha.
He looked like Cerberus, the monstrous dog that guarded Renisha.
They exchanged brief greetings and sat with teacups between them, but it was hard to believe what was happening.
They dressed him up in a nice coat and sent him off to the banquet, and the next day, he brought in something incredible.
Terion swallowed hard.
Terion, who had lifted the teacup with trembling hands, came to his senses only after drinking it.
“Huh...? It’s delicious.”
“Really? That’s fortunate.”
Renisha smiled faintly.
“...So that’s what makes it taste like this.”
Terion set the cup down with a strange expression and cleared his throat.
“I know you’re surprised by this sudden turn of events. That’s how anyone would be in this situation. I have a favor to ask of you. Could you do it?”
“Please speak.”
He doesn’t know what to call her yet, but anyway.
In any case, it was the person who would become Terion’s landlady.

Renisha Lottera, no less. May the late Duke Lottera protect her.
“We need to check on the capital’s progress. We plan to stay here for about two weeks.”
Kassius and Terion nodded simultaneously.
“In the meantime, we should sort out the chaos and prepare to leave. Send the swift-footed and tight-lipped knight to Madame Turiel. Turiel will gauge the nobles’ reactions and inform you.”
“Yes.”
“And I think it would be a good idea for you to step forward and reassure the knights. They’ll need an explanation of the situation.”
“I will. But... I don’t quite understand. What should I... address you?”
Terion thought there was no question as stupid as this.
But it was something that needed to be confirmed. Renisha smiled.
“Since Kassius is the Duke, I will be the Duchess. You can call me Duchess.”
“Yes, Duchess.”
Terion answered awkwardly.
Then he lifted his heavy butt off the chair and fled the awkwardness, using the excuse of doing what Renisha had asked him to do.
Only Renisha and Kassius remained in the drawing room that had been set up.
The others were clearing out Renisha’s bedroom.
Most of the people who had been living in the Empress’s palace had moved here.
The chef went to the kitchen, the Empress’s gardener to the garden, the stable keeper to the stables.
Everyone was finding their places, so Renisha should, too.
“Now that I think about it, we should get things sorted out, too.”
Renisha turned her weary face to Kassius.
“...I think you should rest first.”
“Before that. Sir... No. I should fix myself first.”
Renisha scratched her cheek awkwardly.
“...Duke. Hmm.”
She searched her memory, trying to recall what her mother had called her father.
But it had already been nine years. Everything felt distant.
Renisha tried to recall the titles a wife usually used for her husband.
“Honey.”
Kassius looked breathless. He shook his head violently.
“Husband.”
Kassius’s mouth fell open.
His face turned bright red without him realizing it.
Hearing those words, the fact that Renisha had become his wife really hit him.
The legal matters had been settled, as if he had been preparing for them.
But Kassius still hadn’t adjusted.
Renisha tilted her head in thought, the situation barely registering.
"This isn't so great either. Kassius? Lord Kassius. I don't know."
"Kassius!"
Kassius cried in a strangled voice.
"Just Kassius."
"Really?"
Renisha nodded quietly.
A smile spread across her face, which had been deeply thoughtful, as if she had been truly contemplating it.
“Kassius. Kassius... I hear they often use nicknames. Nicknames made from their given names.. Kass. Kass. Cau. Sis. Kis. Kiss?”
Renisha, who was listing the words, muttered with amusement.
“How about Kiss?”
Kassius blushed.
“S-such a vulgar nickname. You’d better kill someone who doesn’t exist!”
“As for Kassius...”
Renisha narrowed her eyes.
Kassius was afraid of Renisha opening her mouth.
He couldn’t imagine what kind of destruction she would unleash next.
Kassius swallowed nervously.
“Such a noble lady. She’s so shy.”
Look at this.
Kassius covered his face with his palm.
It was another devastating word.
If Terion had heard it now, he would have been ridiculed for ten years.
It really wasn’t easy to adapt to this capital and to Renisha.
Kassius took a deep breath and lowered his hand.
At that moment, he saw someone who shouldn't be there.
Terion stood before the open door, like a statue.
Terion pursed his lips.
"Lady...?"
A curse escaped him.
