PLEMF - Chapter 46

How much time has passed?

I woke up to an unknown commotion.

A large shadow shimmered over the tent of the barracks.

- Oooooooo!

Up close, I heard the roar of a creepy beast.

'Wolf?'

I quickly slipped out of my sleeping bag.

Once I fell asleep, Shion, who didn't even know how to carry me, was still sleeping soundly.

I was rather fortunate.

I carefully crawled towards the barracks entrance, and I saw a shadow blocking the outside.

Seeing the blue light at the end of the long sword shimmering high, it was Caliph.

- Ooooh!

The cries of beasts and the sound of a thud, the moans of the terminal horses, and the cries of the scout leader were mixed.

"My Lord, more and more will be crowded. Since there are not enough people, they abandon the barracks and food and leave the place..."

- Kegan! Kegagang!

The sound of something heavy pounding on the ground was followed by Caliph's voice.

"No. It's hard to protect the children while moving."

Puck!

- Kegagang!

- Ooooooo

However, the spirit of the beast was not just one or two.

It's strange to attack the Sword Master who wields an aura at will without any discretion.

What happened?

Growl!!

"Uh-oh!"

The grunt of the beast was mixed with the soldier's desperate scream.

Someone was holding a torch to chase the beast, and the shadow swayed terribly over the barracks.

The reconnaissance leader's pleading voice continued.

"I will carry the youngest master on my back. The Scout leaders hold the baby and must move before the number of injured increases. You need to make a decision as soon as possible..."

Growl!

The cries of the beasts that had been mastered were heard closer this time.

Looking at the large, sharp shadows, Caliph was overwhelmed.

The ten cavalrymen had already returned to their main city.

Among the thirty-something cavalry, there are no shamans or oracle users, so in the current situation, there will be only one group of scouts who can actually help.

'The torch is alive, so I can do something too.'

When I thought about it, I felt sorry for the situation where I had to use a torch.

Even if I had been one year older, I would have been capable.

'Can I use that torch to put up a protective wall as wide as this camp? With these little hands?'

Looking down at my hands, which were still smaller than leaves, I sighed.

I won't be able to do it.

Not only that, but Caliph won't allow it.

I resigned, changed direction, and crawled toward Shion.

"Brother. Wake up, youngest brother!"

"Wooooong..."

I  gently patted Shion's cheeks as he rubbed his eyes.

"We're under attack, we should run away."

"What?"

"That... It's like a wolf,  isn't it? I can hear the cry."

They cried just in time.

- Oooooooo

Shion jumped up and sat down.

"Brother Caliph, what about him?"

"Outside. The reconnaissance leader told me to evacuate. My eldest brother can't move because of us. Let's go out and run away, yes?"

"Ha, can you do it?"

I held Shion's hand tightly

"Where is the child of Halias who is being bitten by a wolf? Isn't that right?"

Shion replied, swallowing his saliva.

"You're right."

"When I leave, I will go with the scout leader. My brother goes straight to my eldest brother."

"Why? You are with.. brother."

I pretended to blow the flames of my fingertips in front of Shion's eyes.

"I'm fine. There's a torch outside."

"Liana, no, he won't let you either."

"I'm Meridian. I can protect myself."

I took Shion's hand and went outside.

A large wild beast was swung by the knife that Caliph stood in the way of the entrance.

'...It's not a wolf.'

I had only seen that beast so big for a wolf once or twice in my previous life.

"Heh, is that a wolf?"

No, that's a dire wolf.

However, I did not want to scare Shion by answering.

Caliph turned to Shion's voice.

"Guys."

I hurried to the scout leader before Caliph caught me.

"Captain! General! Let's go quickly! Hurry up!"

The scout leader stared blankly at Caliph, but I was faster.

I almost jumped into his arms, and the captain eventually nodded to Caliph and climbed up in search of the horse.

Then he unfastened his belt and tied it around my waist.

There was a soldier with a torch nearby, so he pointed his finger.

"That. That torch, to me."

"Yes?"

He panicked for a moment and shook his head.

"No, baby. I know what the baby can do, but when I hold the torch from the height of the baby, I am surprised. I have to hold the baby in one arm, so I can't even hold the torch."

Decisive was more than Caliph.

The soldiers quickly followed behind the reconnaissance leader, who was running at great speed.

I saw Caliph wielding his sword at the rear.

As the blue light cut through the air, a dire wolf rolled on the floor.

- Kegegegen! Gang!

"Here! Is this how a direwolf is?"

The sound of horses' hooves, the sound of the wind, and the cry of the beast made the scout leader shake his head.

"No, baby! The dire wolf lives very close to the north wall, and I don't know how it came down here!"

- Oooh!

The damn direwolves kept growing, and Caliph was making a living.

"Slow down!"

"Yes?"

"I can't see my eldest brother well! Don't get too far ahead!"

The reconnaissance leader slowed down as I said, but also retorted.

"The Scout leader ran away as far as possible."

As the Issue was an issue, I boldly threatened.

"If I can't see my brothers. I'll unfasten my belt and jump down. Don't run ahead of you."

What is funny amid this seriousness?

The scout leader laughed a little.

"I was going to refrain from telling you because you hate these words, but the flame fairy of Halias is as great as rumored."

I gritted my teeth at the ridiculous nickname that I heard once in a while, but shr added a word.

"If you find out that I ran all night with the baby in my arms, I would die of envy of the Knight Commander."

I was so pathetic that I shot at him.

"Die or not."

***

- Ooooooo

That sound must have been the culprit.

It seems that there are dozens of dire wolves that Caliph has cut down, but they have followed without getting tired.

Two scouts using aura helped Caliph nearby, but they were greatly outnumbered by the beasts that kept appearing in new entities.

It was clear to my eyes that the sword of Caliph holding Shion was slowly slowing down.

Boom, click, click..

The horses were not told to do so, but they were frightened and ran away.

I demanded once again on the back of a frantic horse.

"Slow down."

The scout leader hesitated.

"Yes? No, baby."

"I'm tired. Slow down!"

"My lord?"

The scout leader slowed down for a moment and looked back at Caliph, when a dire wolf fell under his words.

The captain wrinkled his eyebrows strangely.

"Which brother is tired? The youngest?"

I slapped the scout leader on the side with my elbow.

"Yes, Baby..."

"Don't get too far away from my brother."

They must be nocturnal, so they might disappear when it gets light, but the nights in the north were damn long.

"Yes. Slow."

I muttered softly, but the scout leader shook his head.

"What did you say, baby?"

"...No, it is not. Just run slowly."

- Oooh!

I know that opinions about Direwolf have historically been divided.

There was a theory that it was just a big wolf, and on the contrary, there was an argument that it was a small monster.

However, seeing them standing up and attacking after being hit by Caliph's sword, I wonder if the latter is right.

Before long, sleet began to blow.

The ground was soggy, preventing the horses from running, and even the torches were extinguished, which only worsened.

Now, all we could see was the blue aura and the eyes of the yellow direwolves.

A scout who was worse than one approached and handed Shion, but the fact that Caliph had to deal with the Direwolf at the back did not change.

He will never back down to protect us in front.

The sky was still black, and my speed was as fast as the night sky.

Caliph's horse seemed to step on the mud and stumble for a moment.

"My lord!"

"Brother!"

A dire wolf jumped high without missing the time.

"No!"

A blue glow flashed from the blade of Caliph, and a large grayish beast slammed under the horse's hooves.

Hehehe!

Caliph tried to appease him, but it was not enough..

He shouted as he looked at me from the rampaging horse.

"Captain! What are you doing if you don't run faster!"

But I held the reins of the scout leader's hand tightly.

"I said I would jump off. You don't think I can't do it, do you?"

When I sneaked up on the hand that was holding his belt, the captain's face turned tired.

The belt had long since been loosened.

"Baby, please..."

As soon as Caliph managed to calm the horse, a dark dire wolf pounced on him again.

Growl!

Before he could drop the fearless blade and hang it, another dire wolf pounced on him like snow.

Watching Caliph abandon his words and jump down, I muttered to myself.

"..."

The Scout leader was so frustrated that he slowed down even more to look back at me.

"Baby?"

I was angry at myself for being helpless.

There, Caliph struggles alone.

Help me, ancestor.

'You sent me here.'

"..."

In an instant, a disgusting heat soared within me.

A faint spark flickered in front of me.

How scared and painful it was in my previous life when I first got the spark with anyone to teach me.

But I'm not alone anymore.

"Put me down."
