IWAEBS - Chapter 209 < The Man Who Is All Mine >

"Done!"

I neatly cut the wedding dress I was to wear at the concubine's ceremony in half with scissors, from the chest to the navel.

"Those scissors are really sharp, aren't they?"

"Will this work? What if the Princess doesn't come?"

Sharon asked, fidgeting beside me.

"Wow. She'll come. If she doesn't, it won't be Resilia."

"But with the wedding dress made like this, how are you going to hold the concubine's ceremony later?!"

"Don't worry. I have a plan."

I added reassurance, but Sharon nodded, still anxiously staring at the torn wedding dress.

I quickly turned the fitting dress mannequin I had dressed in the wedding dress back to the door.

Then I gave a message to Moiya and Moni, who had transformed into butterflies.

"You stay in the hallway, and if Resilia appears, let me know immediately."

"Just trust me, Master!"

“Trust me, Master!”

The two chanted in unison.

Before finally leaving the room, they didn’t forget to drop a pair of scissors under their dresses.

“Now that the trap is set, all you have to do is wait. Let’s go.”

I led Sharon to the next room.

Resilia appeared earlier than expected.

“Master, Master, Pink Head just entered that room!”

Less than thirty minutes later, Moiya and Moni, who had been standing guard in the hallway, flew in through the window with the news.

Sharon and I exchanged a determined look as we left the room and locked the door Resilia had entered from the outside.

I carefully turned the key, making as little noise as possible.

Fortunately, Resilia, who was inside, didn’t seem to notice.

I mouthed ten and cleared my throat.

“Who is it! Who dared lock the door from the inside!”

I shouted down the hallways on both sides.

The court ladies quickly gathered.

“What’s going on?”

One of the court ladies cautiously asked,

"I briefly went up to the bedroom floor with Her Highness Zelda to select the jewelry she'll wear for the concubine ceremony. When I came back down, I saw, oh my! The door to the room where the wedding dress was brought is locked."

Sharon. As I felt last time, your acting is truly excellent.

I secretly smiled as I watched Sharon vent her frustrations to the court ladies.

"Oh my, who locked the door from the inside?"

"That's right. Who would dare do such a thing!"

Each court lady with a mouth uttered a word.

Stiane, the head chamberlain, who had been waiting in front of the throne room, met my eyes.

I expected him to come this way, but he went straight into the throne room.

A moment later, Linel, Roxana, and Prince Tesla emerged from the throne room.

The three approached me, their faces bewildered.

"What's going on?"

Linel asked with a serious expression.

Sharon quickly repeated to him what she had just told the court ladies.

He frowned and yanked the doorknob hard.

The rattling sound echoed through the hallway.

“Open now!”

Linel knocked angrily. The door timidly opened. Princess Resilia stood before her, lost in thought.

“Was Princess Resilia here? Why is the door locked?”

I asked, my eyes wide and my voice utterly bewildered.

“I-I just wanted to look at the wedding dress... I didn’t lock the door!”

Princess Resilia stuttered, her expression blank. I ran past her and towards the fitting mannequin where the wedding dress was hanging.

“Oh my! What the hell is going on?!”

I covered my mouth with both hands and collapsed to the floor. Sharon, sensing this, quickly supported me,

“Oh, my... what’s wrong with this!”

She portrayed her shock upon belatedly confirming the state of the wedding dress with exquisite skill. As a result, more court ladies gathered outside and peered around the room. Linel slammed the door shut with such force that it made a loud bang.

"Princess Resilia, why did you commit such a despicable act?"

Roxana asked her in a sharp voice.

"...Yea? What did you say?"

Resilia looked as if she hadn't expected such words to come out of Roxana's mouth.

I looked back and forth between the two ugly faces.

I bit the flesh on the inside of my cheek to maintain a neutral expression.

“The concubine ceremony is in a few hours. Even if I stitch up the cut, I won’t be able to avoid being laughed at.”

I lowered my head, my expression visibly upset, and Linel chimed in.

“How can this be happening! Princess, I think you need to explain.”

Prince Tesla spoke for his sister, but was silenced by Linel’s chilling gaze.

“Um, I just came in to see Concubine Zelda. There was no one in the room... and the wedding dress was already torn like that!”

“Are you saying the Princess doesn’t know anything about this?”

Linel’s solemn voice, frowning, had the power to intimidate.

“Yes, Your Majesty! I was so surprised!”

Princess Resilia said, looking at him with a coquettish tone. Roxana’s brow furrowed.

“What are those scissors at your feet, Princess?”

Roxana lowered her gaze and pointed to the scissors that had fallen in front of the wedding dress.

“T-How should I know that?”

Resilia looked dumbfounded at Roxana’s question.

“Were the scissors on the floor earlier?”

Roxana asked, turning her gaze to Sharon.

“No, Your Majesty! The scissors were definitely in that alteration box before I left here.”

Sharon, as if she had been waiting, pointed to the large alteration box on the table with her hand.

“How long have you been away from here?”

Sharon answered Linel’s question without hesitation.

“Less than ten minutes.”

“So, whoever entered this room took out the scissors and cut the dress... Princess, why was the door locked?”

Roxana was accusing Resilia of being the culprit.

I don’t know exactly what they discussed during tea time yesterday afternoon, but whatever it was, their alliance had already been broken.

Since the wyvern egg and the incarnation sword disappeared last night, Roxana has likely suspected that Resilia and Prince Tesla were behind it.

And to find out, she needs an excuse to drag Princess Resilia to the Empress's Palace, right?

Princess Resilia's pupils began to dilate, as if she had just sensed something was wrong.

"Your Majesty... Are you really thinking of me, you know, the culprit?"

Princess Resilia gave Roxana a confused look.

"There seems to be some misunderstanding. She may be a reckless little sister, but she's not this thoughtless. T-Truth be damned, Your Highness Zelda?"

Prince Tesla asked, his eyes pleading with me for help.

Shameless brat.

I averted my head, refusing to meet Prince Tesla's eyes for even a moment.

"It's not a suspicion, it's the circumstances!"

Roxana scolded the siblings of the Shattonil royal family in my stead.

Princess Resilia's surprised gaze seemed to be questioning Roxana, "Isn't our appointment different from yesterday?"

"It was already like that before I ruined the dress!"

Resilia shouted in a voice filled with injustice.

But she quickly covered her mouth with an 'Oops' expression.

Prince Tesla shut his eyes tightly as he looked at his sister.

"Your Majesty, would you allow me, the Empress, to personally investigate the truth of this matter?"

Linel glanced at me at Roxana's request.

I blinked, signaling for him to do so.

"...Please do so."

Fortunately, Linel seemed to read my expression and granted Roxana's request.

As soon as he gave permission, Roxana immediately opened the door and summoned her knights.

"Immediately, escort Princess Resilia to the Empress's Palace!"

"...Y-Your Majesty, this is unfair! What you said was different from yesterday...?"

“Princess! Shut your mouth! I’ll hear your excuses at the Empress’s Palace.”

At Roxana’s threat, Resilia’s lips trembled, and her expression turned terrified.

“Your Majesty! This is a false accusation!”

Prince Tesla complained to him as he watched his sister being dragged away by Roxana’s knights.

“That’s why we’re going to clear up that misunderstanding, isn’t it?”

Linel cut off Prince Tesla’s words with a nonchalant tone and turned to me.

“The concubine’s ceremony is only a few hours away. What should we do?”

“I’ll try to do something about it, Your Majesty.”

“Yes, I know it’s disappointing, but the ceremony is only a moment... Hmm, I guess I should go now so I can get ready.”

He comforted me with a pitiful look and led Prince Tesla out.

“I’ll see you later,”

He said, turning back to me just before closing the door.

And his last words were,

“Empress.”

...and he smiled.

I chuckled as I looked at the closed door, then looked at Sharon, who was more moved than I was by the shape of Linel’s mouth and was on the verge of tears.

“We have somewhere to go.”

“Where?”

***

Sharon and I headed to the exhibition hall displaying royal ceremonial attire.

“I’ll wear that.”

Sharon, flustered, followed my instructions and took out the wedding dress I’d worn for my state wedding from the glass case.

“Will it be okay? The color of the dress will definitely cause problems.”

“I know. There’s a way around that. Let’s roll up the wedding dress and leave. Hurry up.”

“Where are you going this time?”

Sharon followed my orders again, but she looked anxious.

I left the exhibition hall with the wedding dress, rolled up like a carpet, tucked under my arm.

***

Magic Tower Lord stared blankly at the wedding dress I had clung to, his expression bewildered.

“So... you want me to make this wedding dress cream-colored?”

“Yes, you can do it, right? This isn’t a big deal, is it?”

I asked with a face brimming with anticipation.
The
Magic Tower Lord's expression was quite complicated.

“Princess Resilia ruined the wedding dress I was wearing for the concubine ceremony. I barely managed to get that dress from the capital, but I don’t have anything else to replace it with right now.”

“...So, you want to wear this wedding dress you wore for your state wedding again?”

“Yes. It’s a bit too extravagant for a concubine, but if you could just change the color, I think the concubine ceremony will go smoothly. Can you do it?”

“It’s not difficult, but...”

Magic Tower Lord deliberately left his sentence unfinished.

The reluctance in his eyes was evident.

I felt a little sorry for Magic Tower Lord's sullen face.

Ever since Magic Tower Lord expressed his feelings to me, things had become a bit awkward between us, so I wasn’t comfortable asking for this.

But the situation was unavoidable, so I had no choice but to ask.

“First, the concubine ceremony has to go off without a hitch. I don’t want to give the ministers an excuse to nitpick. I don’t want to hear them tell me to hit my neck again...”

I deliberately put on a pitiful expression and grabbed my neck with both hands.

Magic Tower Lord remained indifferent to the ministers’ excuses.

Just as I was starting to feel a little uneasy,

“Take it.”

Magic Tower Lord handed me the wedding dress again.

I didn’t expect you to refuse, though...?

This is truly awkward.

“There’s not much time left. You should hurry and get ready.”

“Yes?”

“Oh my! Your Majesty, the color of the dress... has changed! It’s cream!”

Sharon clapped her hands in delight.

Only then did I look down to see the wedding dress.

The once pure white wedding dress had truly turned cream.

I thought it would require some kind of ritual or take some time, but I didn’t expect it to change color so quickly.

“Lord of the Tower, thank you so much. I always feel indebted to you.”

“It’s not like I don’t owe you anything, Your Majesty.”

“...What do you owe me, Master?”

“I’ll tell you later, if the opportunity arises. We don’t have time. Please hurry.”

“Oh, yes. We’ll talk again later. Thanks to you, the wedding ceremony was held without a hitch.”

I ignored the bitter expression on the Master’s face and rode in a carriage to the venue of the concubine ceremony.

***

Preparations for the concubine ceremony were in full swing in the chapel next to the main hall.

Guided by a servant, we headed straight to the bridal waiting room set up inside the chapel.

Just as we were about to enter the bridal waiting room, the door to the next room opened.

“Come see me for a moment.”

Linel motioned for me, leaving the door slightly open as I went back in.

I told Sharon to go into the bridal waiting room first and follow him.

“Do you have anything to say?”

“Nothing to say, but I have something to do.”

Linel grabbed my hand and pulled me into his embrace.

Feeling a little embarrassed, I lightly hit him on the back with both fists.

“Oh, my gosh, why are you doing this~?”

“...It hurts quite a bit.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I couldn’t control my strength.”

“By the way, is your wedding dress sewn together properly? I’ve already told the High Priest to hurry up and finish the ceremony, so just bear with me for a moment. Ignore the nobles’ gazes.”

“I’ll wear the wedding dress I wore to our wedding.”

I whispered, laughing.

“What? But it’s not the right color for a concubine’s wedding...”

“I asked the Lord of the Tower to change it to cream.”

“Haha, how did you come up with that? I don’t remember what dress you wore to our wedding, but I guess I’ll find out today.”

He patted my head and laughed along with me.

“Yes, I guess it’s a good thing the wedding dress is ruined. But what will happen to Princess Resilia?”

“Roxana will take care of it. I won’t interfere.”

“Well, Roxana has a knack for catching people. Just watch.”

Linel burst into laughter at my words.

Then he let go of me and took my hands in his.

From the look on his face, it seemed like he had something to say.

“I, Linel Guardion Edpa, swear not only to the concubine ceremony, but to look only at you for the rest of my life.”

“?”

“Does the bride swear too?”

I asked in a voice filled with anticipation.

“I guess I’ll have to live to find out.”

“...Why?”

“Because my husband has so many wives, I need to keep an eye on him.”

Of course, I knew full well that taking in concubines wasn’t his intention, but rather political, but I was being needlessly spiteful.

“Even though my heart belongs only to you?”

Linel wrapped both hands around my waist with a resentful expression.

Knock.

“So this place is mine for life, too?”

I asked, kissing his lips as if sealing it.

“Yes.”

“This place is mine too, right?”

As soon as I heard Linel’s answer, I placed my hand on his heart and continued my questioning.

“Of course.”

“Then this place, of course, is meant for me, right?”

This time, my hand went down.

“Ahem...! It only responds to you anyway... Of course.”

His gaze, looking down at me, seemed to strip me of my reason.

Our lips drew closer again, almost touching.

I gently brushed my lower lip against his and asked,

"Can I come in tonight?"

"Please... of course."
