TWDR - Chapter 42

"....Focus on the operation, Mori. I don't see you distracting others and disrupting the operation."

Chession nagged her for nothing. Gremory nodded obediently.

"Yes, I'll just do it according to the plan."

"Yes. It has to be that way."

Three people got into the carriage. The carriage finally departed for the Imperial Palace.

About 4 hours later, when they entered the capital.

The fireworks that marked the beginning of the festival soared high into the sky.

Flames exploded and dispersed in a circle. Gremory looked out the window of the carriage and looked at the view.

"Oh."

The colorful fireworks embroidered in the night sky were beautiful. It was a true sight that could not be seen in the demon world.

The imperial palace in the distance was also gorgeous. Even though it was dark at night, the imperial palace shone like daytime and showed off its presence.

"After all, the human world is beautiful."

Isolene looked at Gremory with sparkling eyes and smiled.

"It's ugly. Have you ever seen fireworks before?"

"Yes."

"Fireworks are set off regularly in the Grand Palace, so take a closer look."

"When are you going to do it?"

"Every fall."

Listening quietly, Chession thought that this year's fireworks should be prepared more spectacularly.

The carriage finally passed through the main gate of the Imperial Palace. The three entered the glittering banquet hall. The chief of the chamberlain informed Chession's position.

"His Excellency the Grand Duke of Chession Ethel is entering!"

Chession Brilliant de Ethel. His real name excluded the royal family's surname. Brilliant. Nevertheless,  Chession entered the banquet hall regardless. With two maids on either side. Their backs were guarded by a new lieutenant, Chris.

The popularity of Chession, which stopped the witch hunt, was so great that the surrounding area quickly became crowded.

"Oh, Your Highness, the Grand Duke Ethel. Greetings to you. Rachel Conrad, after a long time."

"Haha, the benefactor who saved my daughter is here! Do you remember me?"

Chession was used to dealing with the crowd. Gremory, on the other hand, felt very dizzy. The darkness of various human beings intersected, and her mind was dizzy.

Isolene grabbed Gremory as she stumbled. Chession noticed Gremory's abnormality and commanded Isolene.

"I'm fine, take Mori to a secluded place. Chris is enough for me."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Gremory was on the verge of falling apart. Isolene managed to drag the limp Gremory out of the crowd.

"Ugh, you look like a countryman. Have you ever experienced such a crowd before?

"Uh-huh..."

"I'm going to bite you like this."

Isolene moved to an empty table in the corner. On the way, she made eye contact with someone, but she immediately turned her head because she was busy.

Gremory sat down and whined for a long time. As she pressed her hands against her throbbing temples and held her breath, Isolene was worried.

"Mori, are you okay?"

"Yes, I was dizzy for a while..."

It was just that she was barely catching her breath. A group of three dazzlingly dressed noble girls approached the table.

At the head of the group was Catherine Ortega. Behind her was a row of maids.

"Who is this? Isolene? It's been a long time!"

Isolene glanced at her nervously. Looking at the group of young girls dressed up in Orient Knights, it seemed as if they were determined to fuck her and Mori. To avenge what happened at the tea party.

"Ah, Catherine. You're here too."

"Can I sit down? Let's talk together!"

The girls naturally sat down at the table with Isolene and Gremory. The maids stood behind her, their heads bowed respectfully.

Ellie, a pink-haired young lady who seems to be Catherine's friend, showed Interest in Gremory.

"Who is this? I've never seen her before."

Then Catherine laughed and said,

"Say hello. It's the garbage that His Highness has picked up."

The corners of Isolene's mouth twitched. She felt uncomfortable, but she was not allowed to act recklessly. It means that it is currently in operation. It is best to avoid unnecessary fuss.

"What? Our Mori is so talented that she quickly rose to the position of a maid on par with me."

"Isn't your value as low as the woman you picked up?"

"What kind of thing are you doing all of a sudden?"

"I just thought I needed a warning because you're not aware of your position these days. You didn't even greet me when you saw me, did you? And Mori? Why is she doing that? Is it because of the crowd? Ugly."

Catherine glanced at her weakened prey and chuckled. Isolene groaned.

"That's because of a reason."

"It's just right, Isolene. Speaking of which, you said that you are not the Grand Duke's partner this time? You seemed to be working hard, and it was nice."

"Stop, Catherine."

"They're talking a lot behind your back. So watch your actions. After all, there is no one to warn you about this except me."

Catherine laughed outright. Catherine's eyes were now on Gremory.

"It's vulgar"

Gremory cleared her mind and spoke.

Catherine's confident expression, anticipating victory, was suddenly stunned.

"...What?"

"Where is the person who doesn't talk about others behind her back? You're giving me advice."

"What... that! This garbage again!"

"It looks good to you to be good at your job before you pretend to be conceited with your advice. Even at that age, you can't take care of yourself by yourself, so you bring a maid all the time."

Pfft. Someone laughed. Of the two who came with Catherine, the other, who had remained silent, was Hannah.

Catherine glared at Hannah and scolded Gremory.

"You, like last time, you know who I am, so you're making fun of me like that?"

"I know. Catherine Ortega. A woman who was kicked by Chession three years ago. Is that so? Isolene is extremely jealous."

"What the hell is he? Isolene, did you tell her about it?"

"You're ugly. Especially the eyes are too small. You are young and have no dignity in your words and deeds. Nothing is better than Isolene."

"Hey, this...!"

Gremory picked out the most painful part of Catherine and poked her in the mouth. Catherine, paralyzed by the intense pain, couldn't say anything, but just clenched her fists and shook her head.

"And you don't progress. If you had been beaten and bounced like that last time, you might have realized something, but it was still undignified... Ugh."

Isolene silenced Gremory before the situation escalated.

"Catherine! I'm sorry! Mori! The prom is about to begin! Let's go dancing!"

After Isolene kidnapped Gremory and hurriedly took her away.

There was silence at the table.

"Oh, it's so bad."

Hannah laughed lightly at Catherine and left the table. She happened to hate Catherine, and she was timing to get away from her to join the rest of the group.

Ellie, the pink-haired Young Lady, also looked at her for a moment and then left with Hannah.

"Hannah! The necklace that Isolene was wearing was so beautiful on the cheeks of the Orientite, shall we go ask what kind of jewelry it is?"

"Yes."

Catherine, who was left alone, ended up crying for a long time at the table. The maids had to exhaust themselves to comfort her.

***

Isolene took Gremory to a deserted terrace.

"Mori! What is it! You decided to keep the etiquette no matter what!"

"She didn't keep it first, so I thought I didn't have to keep it either."

"Hah... Yes, it's my fault that I didn't teach you about this situation beforehand."

"...I'm sorry."

Gremory apologized obediently. Isolene, who had been feverish, was embarrassed when she saw Gremory's drooping round crown. She doesn't know how to be so timid just because she scolded her a little.

"It's okay. I won't do it next time."

Gremory's shoulders lifted again. Isolene chuckled.

"Now, go to His Highness, the ball is about to begin."

"Yes."

Chession was still surrounded by people. When he saw the large wall clock, he greeted people slightly.

"The ball is about to begin. I want everyone to step down."

The people retreated obediently. This allowed Gremory to get to Chession without the headaches of the crowd.

Soon the music played. Chession skillfully led Gremory and began to dance. Gremory eagerly stepped on the feet of the horned Chession, who had danced as he had practiced.

The back of his foot might hurt from being stepped on by the heel, but Chession grinned.

"I put a steel plate protector inside my shoe just in case."

"That's a good thing."

"When I was practicing, I was almost crushed on the top of my foot. It's completely bruised. If you step on it any more, it might be a big problem."

"If you are very sick, I can heal you."

"How?"

"If I eat it, it will be better."

"...? Mori, why do you eat my feet?"

"No, it eats pain."

"...Our Mori has a lot of creativity."

Chession laughed and continued dancing.

Alone, Isolene stared at them from afar. As they had planned, she pretended to be blinded by jealousy.
