TBDNS - Chapter 113

Episode 113. We Have a Child

On his way to Christine's barracks, Zimmer saw a pigeon circling in the sky.

"Beep!"

With a long whistle, he stretched out his arms, and a pigeon landed on it.

When he saw that the color of the chimney was green, it was a message from Green Hill.

He hurriedly opened it, wondering if there was any news about Adele.

"Nonsense...!"

As expected, her news was written.

But surprisingly, she lives with Mark.

Moreover... even when she was pregnant,

"Is it a bird messenger?"

At Christine's voice, Zimmer turned around in surprise.

"Boss!"

He hid the pain without realizing it, but he couldn't escape his fierce eyes.

"Are you secretly stealing military secrets?"

"Ha, ha, I can't do that."

Zimmer laughed awkwardly, but he couldn't help but give it to him.

Christine's eyes became fiercer and fiercer as he looked at Zimmer.

Finally, he took a deep breath and carefully floated his luck.

"This is news from Miss Adele."

"Adele? Ahhh..."

Could this be all?

Zimmer is embarrassed by the cool reaction, but he shouts,

"Sir!"

Leanna came running with the little ones from the Wolf Clan.

Dressed in simple pants and tied up in a ponytail, she was a cheerful girl. But as far as Zimmer knew, she might be the strongest wizard in the world.

"Leana. You're popular with children."

"Please save me, Captain. These little boys follow and bully me all day!"

The children tugged at Leana's arm.

"Sister, show me your magic!"

"Please let the fire come out!"

Like most of the wolf clan, some of the children were more like beasts, while others were perfect humans. However, everyone was adorable just by the existence of a child.

"See? Please!"

Leanna begged for help, looking desperate.

Christine then picked up one of the children and put him on the horse. The child screamed and screamed because he liked it, and the other children begged him to hug them.

"Next is the first person to run to that tree!"

Before he could finish speaking, the short-legged children rushed forward.

On the battlefield, he made the enemy tremble with his name, but he was quite popular with children.

"And you don't have to report the news, a while ago."

"What...?"

Leaving Zimmer in his mind, Christine ran to where the children were.

"Phew, I'm barely alive."

When the children disappeared, Leanna shook her limbs to catch her breath.

But Zimmer was confused about the situation right now.

Even though he had received a communication about Adele, his reaction was very sour.

Not only that, but the fact that he didn't have to report it... It wasn't what Christine Zimmer knew.

"What happened to you? That day..."

Leanna, who was cheerfully turning her hips to warm up, stopped.

"That day?"

Zimmer turned and glared at Leanna.

"The day you went in to break the seal."

Leanna's eyes fluttered slightly.

"Shall we move for a while?"

***

Leanna brought Zimmer into her barracks.

The barracks were full of old books and unknown tools. Not only that, but instead of laundry, dried toads and bats were hung on the clothesline. On the shelf, the glass jar was also full of bizarre bugs.

He couldn't imagine such a beautiful girl in such a place.

"When I had my own room, I wanted to decorate it like a witch's room. It's a reaction against the Holy See."

"But you're old enough to dream of rebellion."

"Can I have a cup of tea? There is a tea made from centipede powder, and it is good for the joints."

"No thanks. I'm not old enough to think about joints yet. Rather, please answer the question from earlier. Miss Leana."

For a moment, Leanna's expression, which was playful like an adolescent girl, turned cold.

"What do you want to know?"

"The leader didn't want to know anything about Miss Adele."

"I guess he's changed his mind."

"No, I know very well that he is not. That... After the seal was lifted, he was like a different person."

Remembering the memory of that day, Zimmer furrowed his brows.

Christine came out of the room where the well had been, and he looked like a soulless person.

It was alive and moving, but it looked like a phantom without a human heart.

"That day, actually... The leader is dead."

Zimmer's unexpected words made him doubt his ears.

"He is dead! What'... that?"

"I needed his life to break the seal."

"So he's an undead?"

Leanna laughed and shook her head.

"No, I saved him. But it had to come at a price."

"A master...?"

"It's a price worth exchanging his life. So he offered the name engraved in his heart."

"I don't understand what you mean."

"You exchanged the leader's life for the person he loved more than his life."

"So he doesn't remember Miss Adele?"

"Not only did he not remember, but his mind was also erased."

Zimmer groaned, his face pale.

"Nonsense, so he forgot about Miss Adele forever?"

Zimmer couldn't believe what Leanna was saying. He knew she was a great wizard who had revived the wolf clan, but he didn't know it was possible... so he said,

"I couldn't help it. I had to save him. I... never regret it,"

Leanna said firmly, but her blue eyes were wet with tears.

Zimmer looked at her pitifully.

The words that he didn't regret sounded so pathetic. She was a great wizard, but she was still a sixteen-year-old girl.

"You must have had a lot of trouble making such a big decision. But I wish you had given me a hint."

"I'm sorry. At that time, I was too scared to speak."

"Do he know?"

Leanna nodded.

"I told him that he had a fiancée named Adele. I also said that if he wants, why doesn't he bring her in? But he said it would be better to end it like this."

"Really? The captain is serious..."

"I told you. His heart was completely erased. Now that the war is approaching, women are just an unwieldy existence to him. If in doubt, check it out."

"Adele? Ahh..."

Zimmer finally understood why Christine reacted the way he did.

He decided to let Adele go.

He didn't have any more love left.

The woman he loved more than his life.

So he was able to save her life in exchange for his heart.

Ironically, because he loved her so much, he could no longer love her.

'Is it good that Adele is staying with Baron Casler?'

'Whose child is she pregnant with?'

Zimmer felt betrayed by Adele, but he wished it were Mark's child.

She hopes that this will completely break the bond between the two.

May no one be sad.

***

Zimmer left the barracks, and Leanna, who was left alone, pulled a letter from a drawer.

On the envelope, the word 'Adele' was written in beautiful letters.

To the husband of the Countess of Adele Weiss.

Chris.

I'm doing well.

For some reason, I'm staying with the children at Baron Casler's house.

But did you know that Baron Casler has three children in his house?

Because we have a child of our own.

Even as my child... writing these words, I'm so happy.

You are, too, right?

Come back safely.

The Rose of Rosswolf will soon be lost, but I still miss you, so forgive me.

Your Adele and your child.

Just thinking of Adele made her feel warm, like spring sunshine enveloping her body.

Although it was short, Leanna was happy to spend time with her.

The times she spent eating delicious pies, trying on pretty dresses, and laughing out loud made her feel like a girl her age for the first time in her life.

So she was hesitating whether to go to Christine with this letter even now.

'No matter how much his heart is erased, if he has a child, he won't be able to ignore Adele, right?'

'If he meets her, he might love her again.'

Then he felt like he would give up the war.

What he always wanted was a happy life with her.

But Leanna was different.

He will destroy the Holy See and thoroughly crush the priests who burned her father to death.

They will create a world where the wolf clan reigns over humans.

He was the one who made it possible.

So she couldn't deliver this letter.

"Yes, I can't let you go back here..."

Leanna's blue-gray eyes glowed coldly, as if she had made up her mind.

The letter in her hand was quickly engulfed in blue flames.

"I'm sorry, Adele. This war must continue."

***

Fine dust bloomed on the hot ground in the middle of summer.

A wagon was coming from a distance.

Sitting in the living room, looking out the window, Adele staggered to her feet and went outside.

"Adele!"

Mark, who was playing chess with Pauline in the parlor, rushed over.

"I think a mail wagon has arrived."

"I'm sitting. I'll check it out."

"No, I'll do it. I'm feeling light and nice today."

Adele, who suffers from morning sickness, smiled with her cracked lips.

She was waiting for Christine's reply. It has been more than a month since she sent the letter, but there has been no news yet.

Seeing Adele turn away in disappointment made Mark angry.

He felt sorry for her for missing the man she loved, and he was relieved, although he didn't realize it.

As Adele stepped outside, the mail wagon came to a halt, kicking up dust.

"A letter to Adele Grylls..."

She asks cautiously,

"Oh, there is. There is!"

The mailman replied with a cool smile. The way she turned away in disappointment all the time must have bothered him as well.

"But it wasn't a letter, it was a person."

"What?"

Soon, the door of the wagon was opened, and someone came out.

"Miss."

"Tanya?"

When Tanya saw Adele, she threw away her luggage and ran over to hug her.

"Wow! I missed you! I really thought I would never see him again."

***

"As soon as we arrived in Russwolf, we heard about the war. So everyone was so worried. The Count is at war with the Holy See, but no one knows about you. I finally got in touch with Mrs. Bonita and found out that you are here."

Tanya came into Adele's room and chatted nonstop.

She had a hard time finding Adele.

"Tanya. I didn't expect you to look for me like that. Russwolf is a safe place, so I thought you would be fine there."

"Have you forgotten? You're like a family!"

Seeing Tanya hot, Adele laughed.

Christine's anxiety and nervousness seemed to disappear a little while he was with her.

"By the way, what are those rumors?"

"Rumors?"

"The mailman said you were pregnant..."

Tanya looked at Adele's belly.

Despite wearing a voluminous skirt, Adele's belly certainly looked bulging. Moreover, she felt like she was getting morning sickness because she was so thin.

"The Baron's child, as rumored... Isn't it?"
