IWAEBS - Chapter 185 < Are we drunk? >

What is it?

The man stood up forcefully as if he was going to stride over to me at any moment, but he didn’t move.

Was my comment that I was rougher in bed shocking?

Actually, I... have no idea what I’m like in bed.

I don’t remember making love to anyone.

That probably means that my entire life was with that guy, my husband.

Since my memories of that husband have disappeared, of course, I don’t remember making love either.

This is bullshit.

But I didn’t want to show my weakness, so I lied about being rough in bed.

Maybe it wasn’t a lie?

I could have confirmed that with that man.

But why was I trying to confirm it with that man?

When I sat down next to him in the tavern, I felt my energy calmly stabilize.

Contrary to my stable energy, my heart was beating fast and reacting completely differently.

Ah, here it comes.

He started walking.

The man who was walking toward the bed stopped abruptly with only three steps left between us.

“How could you say something like that so shamelessly... Ha, no.”

The man muttered, looking at me with a dumbfounded expression.

When I tried to open my mouth to make an excuse, the man turned around to look at the door, adding softly, “Let’s not talk,” as if trying to shut my mouth.

“Don’t worry, I locked the door very well.”

When I reassured him, he gave a short laugh and looked at me again.

“Why are you looking at the door? Have you changed your mind?”

I asked him openly, feeling slightly worried.

He made a face as if he were thinking about something.

After a moment, his plump lips parted thoughtfully.

For a moment, I quickly told him something that made me feel uneasy.

“Even if we go back, there’s no one waiting for us. Neither of us...”

So your wife committed fraud and left home, and my husband disappeared to remarry another woman.

The man’s expression became more serious at my words.

I thought there must be something in common between lonely people who lost their partners, but I couldn’t figure out what the man was thinking right now.

Does he really regret it?

Did I push too hard?

Today was the first time I realized that I’m such an aggressive woman towards men.

Didn’t my husband leave me because he got sick of me like this?

“Don’t you regret it?”

The words I wanted to ask came out of the man’s mouth first.

I shook my head.

Oh, I should have waited a few seconds before I moved my head, but I felt like I was shaking my head too quickly, as if I had been waiting.

“But are we drunk?”

I suddenly wondered.

I couldn’t believe that I had come to this point with a man I had just met.

It wouldn’t make sense if I weren’t drunk.

But I wasn’t drunk.

Even though I was walking with a jerky gait, that was just my body getting drunk, and it was a problem that had to be considered separately from my mind.

Well, other people might see it as the same problem.

In any case, if even one of us was drunk, I was confident that I could justify this situation.

Besides, if the man told me that I was drunk, I would close my eyes and boldly follow my instincts and pretend to be drunk.

“I’m not drunk at all. I am.”

The man answered in a steady voice.

I was slightly disappointed by the word sober, and I thought that I shouldn’t completely lose my sense of reason.

But then the bed suddenly shook violently.

In an instant, the man’s body took over mine.

In the end, it wasn’t my mind that was shaking, but our bodies.

“What about you?”

He asked me back.

I just opened and closed my lips like an idiot.

Then he threatened me like he was some kind of Emperor.

“No matter what I say, you can’t leave here anymore.”

“!”

What did... this man say?

That was what I wanted too.

But I pretended to be surprised and shrugged my shoulders.

“Then... why are you doing this when you’re not even drunk?”

I wanted to ask an incredibly tacky question and block my ears.

Looking up at the face of the very restrained man, I thought, “What kind of trivial question is this?”

“If I say I don’t know why... are you going to push me away?”

“No. I think it’s better to be honest than to lie and say that I fell in love at first sight.”

I highly regarded his honesty.

It was also hard for me to explain why I ended up in this situation with this man.

It felt like the blood flowing through my body was drawing me to this man.

“My head tells me to be careful of women who walk with crab legs, but my body doesn’t listen.”

The man’s body was getting closer to mine.

“Am I the type that appeals to the opposite sex?”

“...At least to me, I think so. Don’t ask me that question anywhere else.”

The man snickered and replied.

When I laughed along, his expression became serious and he stroked my right cheek.

His hand on my cheek felt so cool that I unconsciously closed my eyes. For a moment, I almost hugged him tightly.

However, I held back because I felt like the heat of my body would burn him to a crisp.

“I don’t understand...”

I opened my eyes again at the man’s soft voice.

“What the hell is it, what is it...”

Are you asking me to tell you my name?

But I couldn’t tell you my name.

Now that I think about it, I don’t even know this guy’s name yet. Since I can’t tell you my name, it was better for me not to ask him his name either. I just stared at him with my eyes wide open, and he didn’t ask me again because it wasn’t a question.

The man’s gaze settled deeply and descended to my lips.

Instead of talking to me, his soft senses tried to talk to my soul.

I readily accepted his uninhibited conversation.

The kiss that had started peacefully turned into a world so loud it could destroy the world.

I suddenly felt scared, but I didn’t want to push him away.

Judging from the way the man held me tightly, I thought he didn’t hate me either.

Every time I closed my eyes and opened them, the clothes between him and me disappeared one by one.

My mind was becoming hazy, but my physical senses were waking up.

He was a dangerous man.

The emotions that had been pent up inside me were exploding all at once.

I’m crazy... I think I’m crazy...

We both had lost our reason at the same time.

Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to rush at each other like crazy.

“I don’t understand why I’m doing this, but... let me tell you one thing.”

Just before the man poured all his passion into me, he spoke as if he were making a promise.

“Whew... I won’t regret this choice. It wasn’t a mistake.”

“Then...”

“I want you so much right now.”

I was surprised by the man’s desire exploding in an instant, but I didn’t reject him.

I wanted him too.

The two hands I held with him sank deeper and deeper into the soft pillow.

Suddenly, the presence of my husband, whose face I couldn’t even remember, appeared in my subconscious.

Why did I think of that person, who was already a stranger anyway, at this moment?

A faceless being, like a headless ghost.

Feeling upset for no reason, I hugged the man tighter.

Then, beads of sweat formed on the man’s forehead and began to flow down like streams.

***

Linel slept deeply for the first time in a long time.

He opened his eyes dimly and checked the time by fumbling with his pocket watch that he habitually kept on the nightstand next to his bed.

He hadn’t slept long, only two hours, but his body felt so refreshed.

He put the pocket watch back on the nightstand, closed his eyes, and opened them again.

Then he checked beside him.

The woman he had slept with two hours ago was gone. She had disappeared again.

Knowing it was stupid, Linel got up and checked under the bed.

She was a drunk, crab-legged woman, so she could have gotten under the bed while sleeping.

But there was nothing under the bed.

Was he dreaming?

Linel had suffered from insomnia for a month since returning from the Continental Hunting Competition.

So he finally lost consciousness for a moment and thought that she might not have been the woman he had imagined.

Fortunately, however, the woman’s blonde hair on the pillow proved that she was a real person.

He roughly washed his face.

Why had she disappeared without a word? Could it be that she was still living with him, since her husband had an affair and left her?

There was a high probability that she disappeared in a hurry because there was someone waiting at home.

Ah, because of that little brother who said his head hurt?

“Damn.”

His nerves were on edge. He was more angry at himself for continuing to sleep without knowing it than at the woman who disappeared without a word.

Come to think of it, he didn’t even know her name.

He should have asked her what district she lived in.

The only thing he knew was her appearance and her drinking habits, and this situation was so vain.

They were drawn to each other as if by a magnet and fell asleep.

When he opened his eyes, Linel, who was alone, felt the cold again.

He covered himself with the blanket and turned to face the spot where the woman had been lying. When he closed his eyes, he remembered her warm eyes looking up at him.

He felt like he was falling down an endless cliff. However, when he held her in his arms, it felt like his feet had finally touched the ground.

That’s why he couldn’t stop.

He didn’t want to push her away, but at some point, he lost his mind because of the warmth spreading through his body.

“Leaving without even saying goodbye.”

Linel had no idea how to deal with this dirty feeling of being abandoned. It was a feeling he had never felt in his life, so he was bewildered.

I had to find her.

But what could I do after finding her?

'If I see her again, I'll know what I want to do...'

He asked himself and answered for a while.

He put down the hand that was resting on his forehead and came to a conclusion.

First, I'm going to find her.

"Even if I have to search the entire palace."

***

I came back after getting into an accident with a strange man and belatedly pulled myself together.

The reason I left the room without saying anything was that there was nothing good to come from exchanging names.

It was foolish to bring someone else into my life right now, especially a man.

I couldn't ruin my great undertaking by looking at a man.

So I forced myself to keep my steps steady and sneaked out.

It was obvious that an even more awkward situation would await me if he woke up.

That's why it would be helpful for me to quietly disappear.

It wouldn't be good for his personal life to be linked to a woman with a complicated story like mine.

'I'm actually the former Empress of this country. People seem to think of me as a woman who ran away after defrauding the Lapion royal family, but that's very unfair.'

I can’t tell him this.

It seems like he doesn’t come from a humble family. I hope he meets a good woman, remarries, and starts a new life.

“But why am I still here?”

Right after I came over to the main building where I was staying, I hid next to the balcony and looked outside.

From this balcony, I could see people coming and going through the inn’s entrance.

After about an hour, I saw the back of a man exiting the entrance.

“Why do you look so lonely?”

The man’s broad, straight shoulders looked somehow slumped.

I thought my heart would weaken if I kept watching, so I closed the curtains and turned around.

However, as soon as I turned around, I lifted the curtains again and watched the man walk away.

“I should have at least asked his name...”

I shook my head violently to cover up the regret that was sprouting up.

At that moment, I heard a knock on the door.

“It’s me.”

It was the Magic Tower Lord's voice.

When I opened the door, Magic Tower Lord, Commander Macrom, and Empress Elan were standing there.

The faces of these three changed from worry to relief when they saw me.

“Come in.”

As I stepped aside the door, the three of them began to tease me as soon as they entered the room.

“Where on earth have you been, Your Majesty the Empress?”

“I don’t know how many laps you’ve made around the square.”

Magic Tower Lord and Commander Macrom said at the same time.

“Master, what about the sausages?”

Moiya asked with an expectant look.

“Where have you been? Your Majesty, the Empress, have you been drinking?”

Empress Elan came closer and sniffed.

“I had a drink on my way back from a short walk...”

I replied, adding that I was sorry for worrying the three of them.

“You seem to have been out too long to have had a drink.”

The Magic Tower Lord said suspiciously.

I just shrugged my shoulders and held back my words.

“I don’t think you bought any sausages either.”

Moiya imitated Magic Tower Lord's tone as she questioned me.

“Sorry, I’ll buy you some tomorrow.”

“Yes... If the master said waiting, then I must wait...”

Moiya sullenly flew to the bed, buried his face in the pillow, and sniffled.

“Sob, sob, but I want to eat it now! I’ve been waiting for sausages all day, Moiya~!”

Everyone was curious about my whereabouts, but I kept quiet until the end.

I met a guy at a tavern and rested at the annex, but I wasn’t drunk enough to tell them honestly.

At times like this, it’s better to quickly change the subject.

I looked at the three people in turn and emphasized my voice.

“I have to go to the palace tomorrow night.”
