ICTFF - Chapter 202

The End, and the Beginning (4)

The land, which had been stained with the blood of monsters and humans overnight, was covered with a white blanket.

The soldiers preparing for the battle and the knights giving orders in harsh tones mixed together, and the whole camp was in an uproar.

I checked outside and turned around.

Ian, who had already finished his preparations, was examining the sword for the last time.

"I don't want to send you."

I knew that this battle would end the Great Rift, but I didn't want to let him go.

Even if I was really crazy, I guess I was really crazy. I wanted to be with him, and I regretted that the war was over.

I approached him and put a clean, washed handkerchief in his pocket.

"Please come back without a drop of blood on this handkerchief."

"Is it an order?"

"Yes, it's an order."

Ian smiled faintly and knelt down in front of me. When I reach out my hand, he gently kisses the tips of my nails. It was a kiss that I couldn't even feel if his lips touched.

"As you wish."

Ian stood up and headed for the entrance to the barracks. As I looked at the wide back, I unknowingly reached out my hand.

"?!!"

Ian stopped. When I came to my senses, I saw that I was holding onto the hem of his robe.

"Oh... I'm sorry."

Why am I doing this? As I hurriedly let go of his collar and stepped back, tears suddenly welled up in my eyes.

'Don't cry, don't cry.'

I was biting my lip tightly and bowing my head, and Ian approached me. His golden eyes were so hot as he lowered his posture and looked at me.

"I will definitely be back."

"...If you get hurt, I'll slap you on the butt."

Ian laughed out loud. It's the first time he's laughed so loudly. I was staring blankly at his face, but I could feel someone outside.

"Commander, you must leave."

It was Beorn's voice. Ian stopped laughing.

"Wait."

Ian slipped out of the barracks.

Fortunately, I was able to avoid it this time.

The sound of footsteps is so small that I have to listen to it. Even that is getting farther and farther away.

Only then did I force my clenched fist out. I looked at the nail marks on my palm and put my hands together.

"Please protect him."

***

The explosives squad approached the small stone mountain in a wide dispersion.

Thanks to the white camouflage suit, it was almost inconspicuous. They moved quickly and stealthily to establish themselves.

Currently, the low-level monsters are hidden from the snow and are in a nest built on a stone mountain.

Only the flying monsters were out to be vigilant. It looks like a bizarre stone statue sitting on a tree branch with its whole body wrapped in wings.

They haven't seen any advanced or superlative monsters yet.

The members who checked the front took out a large semicircle-shaped installation along with a mine from their bags. They buried it in the ground as they had been trained and quickly withdrew.

Ian, who was watching the situation, lowered the magnifying glass.

"Success."

The Marquis Astrode, who was next to Ian, also handed the magnifying glass to his aide.

"I haven't noticed it yet."

"The weather helps us."

Unlike the low-level monsters, whose sense of smell was unusually developed, the intermediate-level monsters had well-developed eyesight and hearing.

However, the five senses were not particularly strong, and it was possible to be deceived to some extent if the camouflage was good.

Moreover, now the snow was blocking the sound, and the headwind was hiding the body odor. The weather was perfect for a surprise attack.

However, it should not be dragged out for a long time. Because cold is more deadly to humans.

"Let's start as soon as the explosive squad members return."

"I will deliver it."

The Marquis Astrod gave a hand signal to the aide.

Soon, the flags of the troops waiting at the border of the nest were raised one after another.

In an instant, tension spread among the Allied forces who received the order.

The members who completed the mission returned safely. The whole army rushed towards the nest with a roar.

"Waaa!!"

Flying monsters soared all at once. Their screams pierced their eardrums.

The distance between the allied forces and the flying monsters quickly narrowed. At that moment, the Allies stopped running, just as they had promised.

Sensing something suspicious, flying monsters hovered in the air. At that moment, the pre-installed semicircular device was activated, firing dozens of iron arrows in all directions

It was Anton's launcher that made a great contribution when retaking the supply route. Ships came and went dozens of times a day to bring them in from the rear.
The placenta of the flying monster crashed. Just in time, another intermediate monster jumped out, but what awaited them was a small mine.

Pow! Pow! Buried mines exploded here and there. Fragments of monsters and black blood were scattered in all directions.

Finally, low-level monsters began to pour out of the nest, but they only scrambled back and forth and did not attack much. It was thanks to the anti-monster herbs that the Allies were spraying all over their bodies.

"In the second formation."

Ian's instructions were quickly transmitted to the Allies. The allied forces that had been standing still rushed forward and surrounded the low-level monsters.

It was a formation that had already achieved great results in the first battle.

After several battles, the low-level monsters were unable to put up a proper resistance to the allied forces, who were now forming formations with their eyes closed.

"It's the appearance of a high-level monster!

The earth shook like an earthquake. Here and there, the rubble seems to move on its own, and then it changes into the shape of a high-level monster.

The soldiers were greatly shaken by the appearance of the advanced monsters. As a result, the tide that had been in favor of the Allies until a while ago began to tilt.

Ian drew his sword.

"Oh no!"

Ian started first, and the Marquis of Astrod raised his sword and shouted.

"Let's go!"

Mounted troops of knights were then dispatched.

The vibrations of the advanced monsters and the sound of thousands of horses' hooves were mixed up in a dizzying mess. The earth shook as if it were about to collapse.

The flying monster flew towards Ian. The sharp, curved claws were pointing exactly at his face.

Ian twisted his head and let the attack go. Beorn, who was following him, slashed the flying monster with a single sword.

Ian spurred his horse and held out his sword.

The monsters that were running towards him turned to ashes and scattered. The power that turned all monsters in the area into nothing climbed up one of the legs of the advanced monster.

Eventually, the advanced monster that had disappeared below the knee lost its center and tilted.

Kung!

Ian jumped up from the back of the horse at the same speed and jumped onto the shoulders of the advanced monster.

Other monsters flocked to him, but they couldn't stop him. In an instant, he captured the face of the high-level monster and plunged his sword into its huge eyeballs. Then he shouted, trampling on the advanced monster that turned into a stone ball.

"Victory is ours!!"

"Wow!"

War is a battle of momentum. The Allied attack, which immediately regained morale, became dense and fierce. The corpses of the low-level monsters piled up like mountains.

Beorn approached Ian as he landed on the ground, dragging his horse along. He grabbed Ian's shoulders and gave him strength.

Boom.

With an eerie sound, his shoulders went in.

"Do you think it's all you have to do with the missing arm? You ignorant knight!"

Ian said, turning his arm to remember Rahon's nagging.

"The situation."

"Most of the low-level monsters have been dealt with."

"What about the advanced monsters?"

"There are fifteen left, except for the one you dealt with."

Soldiers can only deal with low-level monsters. Even if they were intermediate monsters, they were not enough soldiers.

Fortunately, they were able to reduce the number of intermediate monsters by using small mines and launchers, but the problem was the advanced monsters.

Only knights can fight high-level monsters. Fifteen were enough for the knights to subdue them.

At that moment, the Marquis Astrod rushed over with his horse. His white hair was stained with black blood.

"Commander, something is wrong!"

What do you mean?"

"It looks like a high-level monster is playing!"

Before Ian could ask again, the floor trembled. At the same time, the rocks that were spread everywhere began to roll down and come together into a single shape.

Seeing the slow-moving, advanced monster, Beorn opened his eyes.

"Everything, are you alive again?"

It was a time when everyone was frozen in an unexpected situation.

Ian moved calmly by himself, climbed on the neck of the advanced monster that had not yet fully formed, and destroyed the eye once again.

Uh-huh!

With a sound that seemed to burst the eardrums, the advanced monsters scattered back to the rocks.

For a while, the same situation as before was repeated. The stone began to take shape.

Superior monsters will disappear when their eyes are destroyed. Breaking this rule and getting back up again must have been due to some special force.

The Marquis of Astrod spat out.

"I guess this is also the ability of the top-level monster."

Little was known about the power of the top-level monsters. This is because the history of its appearance is rare.

All that is known is that it can transform into a human and spit out poison.

Beorn shook his head in disbelief.

"It's strange. If the top monster had this ability, why did it stay silent in the previous five battles?"

"It's proof that you have limited abilities. You can't revive a high-level monster in definitely like the power of a Guardian."

"How do we respond now?"

While Beorn and the Marquis of Astrod were talking, Ian didn't take his eyes off the front.

There was a being floating on the land, where humans and monsters were intertwined.

A top-level monster that looks down with its four large wings flapping gracefully. He felt a dull boredom, as if he didn't care about war.

It slowly turned its head. Through the long distance, Ian's eyes met exactly.

It was then. He remembered a fact that he had never thought about before. It was an Instinctive realization.

The war ends only when he is killed.

Ian immediately jumped on his horse.

"Oh no!"
