CYSWTF - Chapter 120

Episode 120. Sleeping Together Like a Blessing

My eyes suddenly went blank. I stuck my face out and shouted,

“What are you doing?”

Then he grabbed the end of my blanket and pulled it off, then said incredulously,

“Are you going to monopolize the blanket?”

While I was gaping open, he took the blanket off my body, spread it out neatly, and covered me with it before turning his back to me and going to sleep.

“Ha...!”

I carefully covered myself with the remaining half of the blanket in a state of dejection and lay down. I had no more strength left to fight.

Only then did I realize that we were sleeping together in bed for the first time since we got married.

He had been sleeping on the sofa until yesterday, but he had naturally climbed onto the bed without me noticing.

“Then I have no choice but to go to the sofa.”

He said as I started to squirm to get out of bed.

“Just sleep. Sleep like a servant.”

When I heard those words, I couldn’t move for some reason. I was lying with my back to him, unable to move, grumbling.

'...Should I just kill him?'

***

I woke up when Prince Kydel returned from the training ground at dawn and changed his clothes.

'I told you I'd wake up at dawn!'

I despaired at the fact that I had never succeeded in waking up at dawn before, and just peeked my eyes out from under the blanket and looked at him.

He would never wake me up even if I asked him to, so there was nothing I could do.

If I asked Madame Olga or the maid, they would inevitably find out that he had slept on the sofa, so that was hard.

However, perhaps because I was upset about yesterday, I woke up today to his presence, and it was an unfortunate timing.

I saw his upper body changing clothes.

'Do you really need to do that? He's handsome, but what's his body like...?'

I swallowed hard and barely managed to ask.

"Did you go to the training ground?"

"I'm sorry for waking you up. Sleep more."

"How's the atmosphere among the gentlemen?"

“Good. Very.”

In the still dim hour, he smiled like the midday sun.

I felt ominous at that sight and asked,

“Just... did you?”

“Yes. Yesterday, I gathered those guys separately and beat them to death. I’m going to do that for the time being. Thanks to you, they’ve become very obedient.”

I shut my eyes tightly.

“And the knights who took your motion sickness medicine when we were wiping out the pirates came back and remembered you, and the atmosphere began to change. No hostess has ever gone on a mission with them before.”

I was surprised by the unexpected situation, but he smiled warmly.

Could it be that he had called the knights who had gone out on the high seas with him to Kydel’s?

“Lorisha. It’ll be fine. I’ll wash up and come back, so sleep more.”

“...”

After Prince Kydel left, I lay down on the blanket and closed my eyes.

I couldn’t insist on getting up because I was embarrassed to look at his face. However, even though I closed my eyes, instead of falling asleep, my mind kept clearing up, and I vividly recalled the events of last night.

I writhed in shame under the covers. What did Prince Locard think of me yesterday? Judging from the fact that he pushed me against the wall and kissed me as soon as he got back to his room, I don’t think he hated it, but are men like that...?

I thought that I would never understand this man named Locard Kydel.

I was confused every moment like this, but he was always calm and cool. Seeing him like that made me angry.

At that moment, I heard the sound of my bedroom door opening. A small silence as if someone was looking around the room, and footsteps moving without any sound.

‘They’re not giving me a moment to rest.’

I closed my eyes tightly and continued to pretend to sleep. I had to wait a little longer to see who dared to sneak into my little lady’s room.

The muffled footsteps crossed the room straight toward the dresser.

When the footsteps turned around and headed toward the door with a small rattling sound, I opened my eyes and sat up.

Then my eyes met with an unexpected figure standing at the door. The young maid, Sarah, held the door open and waited for her accomplice to come out of the room.

Sarah was so surprised when I woke up that she barely let out a small yelp.

Nerissa, who was stealing the box of tea I had put in, was also startled by the sound and almost dropped the box.

I said to Sarah coldly,

“Close the door and come in.”

“Come on, little madam, I thought you were asleep...!”

“Is it my fault for not sleeping in late, or is it the maid who stole from my room?”

Nerissa suddenly shouted.

“Misunderstand!”

“What are you doing?”

When I shouted at the door, Sarah came in and stood next to Nerissa. The two exchanged anxious glances and then looked at me.

I stared at them and asked,

“Why are you trying to steal it?”

Nerissa put the box down on the table and said,

“Steal it! I was going to clean it while you were sleeping. At Kydel, everyone is awake and doing their own thing at this hour.”

She was still making fun of my oversleeping. Then Sarah chided in.

“Yes, I didn’t know that the little lady was still asleep!”

My heart grew cold at that.

Do they really think they can get away with such words?

I threw the box key that was hanging around my neck to Sarah.

“Open it.”

“...?”

“What are you doing?”

She looked at Nerissa and opened the box.

“Oh my!”

The tea had gone bad in the past few days and was giving off a bad smell. The two of them held their noses as soon as they opened the box.

“Who drove that tea?”

“...”

“...”

“I asked?”

But they just kept their mouths shut and stared at me.

I spoke in the coldest-blooded tone possible.

“Do you know that I worked as a maid in the palace?”

“...”

“...”

“They say that beatings in the palace make people reflect on their lives.”

But Nerissa kept her mouth shut even tighter.

There was no other choice. I had no choice but to use my husband.

“I’ll have to ask the Prince to get you a beating.”

When I muttered, Sarah got on her knees in shock.

“I got in the tea. But it was Nerissa’s order!”

“Stay still!”

Nerissa glared at Sarah in a fit of rage, and I asked calmly.

“What did you put in it?”

“I put in some bruised kerah leaves. Nerissa told me to put them in. She said they wouldn’t kill you!”

“Oh. That’s right.”

“You don’t keep your mouth shut!”

It seemed like the two of them would tear out their hair and fight if they moved. But I didn’t want to see that happen.

“Why do you think I kept it so preciously? I was going to give it to you two fools.”

This was a simple trap. I don’t need to find the culprit. I can just wait for my feet to go numb and come find them.

Whoever the culprit is, they’re a family member, and seeing the evidence of their crimes displayed so blatantly every day will be hard to bear.

“Choose. Share it and leave this room, or wait for me to deal with this matter publicly.”

The two maids took out their teacups, sobbing.

If Prince Kydel hadn’t openly taken my side yesterday, Nerissa would never have backed down. But the air in the mansion was different now.

They shared their tea while sobbing, and then immediately retched.

“Are you done?”

“Oh, my dear lady!”

“Why did you try to feed me something you couldn’t eat?”

Nerissa replied with a retching groan.

“Not just anyone can become the Lady of Kydel... Ugh.”

“You’re really loyal and united. You should go now.”

I watched them running away in despair.

Then I rang the bell and delivered the note to Madame Olga.

“Madame Olga, please prepare this right away. Is there a vacant room for the medicine dispensary?”

“Yes. The vacant room and the ingredients can be prepared in the morning, but what is this for?”

“The two maids are having a bad stomachache. I will make the medicine, so you don’t have to call a doctor.”

“Young lady. You must tell me what is going on.”

Madame Olga had a worried look on her face, but also a determined look on her face that said she absolutely had to know.

I stared at her and asked. I couldn’t help but ask.

“Why doesn’t Madame Olga hate me?”

“Young lady?”

“Even the knights and maids of the Kydel family hate me and slander me, saying that I have tarnished the honor of the family. Why doesn’t Madame Olga?”

“Slander! As long as I am in charge of this household, such a thing cannot happen. Who on earth is that maid?”

Madame Olga was really angry. But I waited for an answer to my question.

Madame Olga finally answered,

“I was the nurse to Prince Kydel, my lady.”

“I didn’t know."

“And I hope that the little Duke is happy.”

For some reason, those words sounded so strange to me.

“I hope that the little Duke is happy, just as the Duke was happy with his wife during his short marriage. And the little  Duke is the most intelligent man I know. I trust his choice.”

Even though she had not wished for my happiness, I felt greatly grateful for Madame Olga’s words. Perhaps if Prince Kydel had heard these words, he would have felt the same way.

I smiled and said,

“But I am not his choice.”

“...”

I left Madame Olga, who did not know what to do with her expression, and while I was tidying up the bed myself, I told her about what the two maids had done.

“The stomachache alone will be enough punishment, so pretend not to know.”

But Madame Olga answered unexpectedly firmly.

“No.”

“...”

“As soon as the treatment is over, the two of them should be kicked out of the Kudel House. We must not set a precedent for a maid touching her master’s body. The late Duchess would not have forgiven them.”
