TVOTP - Chapter 7

“Well, My Lady, I will prepare quickly.”

While I was worrying, I blankly stared at Carol, who brought five dresses and quickly tried them on my body, shivering.

Carol, who chose my dress with great seriousness and seriousness, had high standards and was picky about my taste.

Did Yvonne's extravagance and buying the empire's finest clothes and jewels make her eyes look high?

I kept quiet because I trusted Carol's taste more than mine, which I knew nothing about when it came to fine clothing.

But I cautiously suggested it to Carol, who was furrowing her brows because she didn't like the last dress she brought.

“...Isn’t this the prettiest? I can just wear whatever.”

In my opinion, they are all luxury goods, beautiful and gorgeous.

I felt a little bored and sleepy, so I yawned and spoke in a languid voice. Carol looked at me with tears in her eyes and a pitiful look.

“‘Anything’? My Lady, please don’t do that.”

"What."

“Oh, Princess. I will carefully select a beautiful dress that suits you, taking into account the weather and the mood today. Please, wait just a little longer.”

Carol, who is trembling but still says everything she wants to say in a soft voice.

"Hmm."

I felt a little sorry for Carol, her hands shaking and her cheeks and ears red.

'She's going to cry like this.'

I looked at Carol and shrugged my shoulders, telling her to do whatever she wanted.

As soon as I gave permission, Carol's eyes lit up and she brought out ten more dresses from the dressing room.

I felt a little dizzy.

'When will it end?'

Ultimately, it was decided on a green and white lace dress from among the fifteen additional dresses Carol had brought.

I sat lost in thought as I watched the maids dress me up in dresses that they said would be very refreshing and would go well with a garden breakfast.

'I'm getting more and more used to this.'

Seeing how people can adapt to this luxurious life of having to get dressed by a hired hand, I realized that humans are creatures of adaptation.

Even though I'm adapting so well, why can't I adapt to magic and not know how to use it?

I'm starting to feel a little anxious.

'Should I bring in a magic teacher and learn it again? Or maybe if I just get a magic book and read it, I'll remember it?'

But who would believe that Yvonne, a genius wizard from the magic family Argenthoz, doesn't know how to use magic?

I feel a bit timid because I feel like I might arouse unnecessary suspicion.

After thinking about this and that and finishing my preparations, I went to the garden where the Duke was waiting.

'Oh.'

The Duke of Argenthoz looked great today, sitting at an outdoor table in a flower-filled early summer garden.

He's more handsome than any actor I've ever seen.

A handsome Duke who looks like he's in his early 40s, either because he's been taking good care of himself or because his genes are just too superior.

“Ahem. Come in.”

When I appeared, I saw him coughing in vain and bowing deeply to greet me.

“Good night, Your Excellency.”

After greeting him, I cautiously sat down on the chair opposite him, looking at his sparkling silver hair. The Duke furrowed his brow.

“Your Excellency? Are you still angry with me? Are you that hurt?”

"Yes?"

“Ahem. Didn’t you call me father last time?”

"Ah."

When I realized that he wanted to be called 'Father', I felt embarrassed and fiddled with the tips of my fingers that were hidden under the table.

Even in Yvonne's memories, Yvonne always called the Duke 'Duke', never 'Father'.

The relationship between the father and daughter was so awkward that it was almost cold.

'Oh, come to think of it, I called the Duke 'father' while running to the office to avoid Varden.'

It was clear that this man wanted Yvonne to call him father.

But I felt awkward.

I've never really called anyone 'father' in my life.

In the orphanage I grew up in, there were only ‘directors’ and ‘teachers.’

Because there was no such thing as a father or a mother to refer to the family.

Since it was a difficult title for me, I naturally changed the subject.

“Um. Is there a problem with the documents I left behind yesterday? I worked hard on them. If you are not satisfied with the results, I apologize.”

“How could that be? It was really great. Honestly, I was really impressed.”

The Duke's words made my anxiety disappear, and I felt relieved.

'As expected. Of course, that method is more efficient. You don't know how to use a table? This world has magic, but development is strangely slow in some areas?'

I smiled as I thought that it might give me some advantage in surviving here.

Just then, a servant picked up a kettle, poured fragrant tea into cups, and set the light and soft food prepared for breakfast on an outdoor table.

'Today too, breakfast at the enchanting Agenthoz Resort!'

I was feeling good about having a nice breakfast outside in the sunshine, smiling and picking up my fork, when I heard the Duke's shaky voice.

“Laugh... huh? Is that really that good? My compliments are just that?”

I looked up at the Duke and saw that his hands were trembling on the table.

Why are your eyes turning red?

Looking around, I saw that the Duke's aide, who was standing two steps behind, also had his mouth covered.

The other employees also reacted half in surprise and half in regret.

'Why are you all like this?'

I just laughed because I was amazed by the food.

But since I couldn't say no while everyone else was thinking that way, I quietly put down my fork and looked around.

Here's the answer the Duke was hoping for.

I nodded and answered awkwardly.

“Yes... That’s right. I didn’t know you would compliment me like this.”

“Hmm. I... It’s not that I didn’t praise you because you weren’t doing well. You were doing well. But as you know, you’ve been causing a lot of trouble.”

“Yes, that’s right. I’ve been reflecting a lot.”

I listened to the Duke's words with a serious expression as my speech became more rapid, and quickly answered.

On this occasion of meeting the Duke face to face, I had to strongly appeal that I was reflecting again.

I clenched my fists, looked at him, and spoke resolutely.

“It’s all my fault! I’m ashamed of all my bad behavior, and I’m reflecting and feeling sad.”

“You were sad...? Yvonne, what do you lack that makes you sad alone?”

I was shocked and distressed when the Duke suddenly lost his temper.

Why are you angry?

What did I do wrong? I should look good to the Duke.

I was just rolling my eyes, so I decided to use the title I had been too awkward to use earlier.

"Father."

“Yeah, yeah. Yvonne.”

I guess it's just my imagination that the man's eyes look red.

“Father, I was wrong. I know I was wrong. So I will stay home and work hard for a year.”

“A year? Oh my god, what a shock!!!”

“Your Excellency!”

Suddenly, the Duke's face turned bright red, and he fell backwards, clutching at the back of his neck. His aide ran over in fright and helped him up.

I, too, was flustered, so I jumped up from my seat and ran to the duke.

“Father, please drink some water!”

I quickly poured water into a cup and handed it to the Duke, but the atmosphere of the Duke and the people around him was strange.

“Your Excellency..”

“Oh my god. How sad you must be to do something you never did before...”

“...Yvonne. I’m fine. Take your seats. Everyone, please step aside.”

The Duke, who seemed genuine, was covering his mouth with his hand as if he were holding something back.

Are you feeling unwell?

As I sat down, tilting my head, he opened his mouth again.

“Yes, no matter how much I told you to reflect on yourself, I feel uneasy when you stay so quiet. I left one house empty on purpose, so feel free to destroy it and relieve your stress as much as you want.”

'Huh? Now, you want me to destroy the house?'

I just blankly stared at the Duke, who had a proud expression on his face.

Then the aide quickly came over to me, showed me a map, and calmly explained.

“Here, if you go all the way north of the townhouses, there is an empty house. The Duke himself has hung a shield there.”

“...Ah. Um, well.”

“My Lady, feel free to use magic. Or even bombs. Don’t worry, I’ve put up a lot of strong shields, so go quickly~!”

I felt like poking out the eyes of the aide who was smiling brightly and patting my back.

What's even more difficult is that the Duke's blissful expression as he looks at me is extremely burdensome.

You want me to blow up a perfectly good house?

'This Duke is not in his right mind either.'

No, that's true too.

I don't know how to use magic right now!

At that awkward moment, when cold sweat was running down my back, the aide added in a cautious voice.

“My Lady. This means that your confinement will also be released.”

“...Ahem. Yes, Yvonne.”

“Huh?! I, I really like self-quarantine?”

When I heard that I would be released from my confinement, I jumped up from my seat and shouted.

The Duke asked back without blinking, as if he were dumbfounded.

“What? What quarantine?”

“Oh, no, it’s not self-quarantine, it’s self-isolation, no, it’s staying at home. I love it.”

“...You like your home? Oh my goodness. Yvonne, why are you saying that? That’s not like you. How did it turn out like this? What the hell is all that!”

The Duke suddenly became angry and struck his forehead with his fist.

The Duke's purple eyes, which were in deep agony, suddenly lit up.

No, actually, red flames shot up into the sky around him.

“Your Excellency!”

He regained his senses when his aide shouted and barely managed to control the magical flames.

“I was too excited.”

As I watched the scene, I blankly muttered to the Duke.

"stylish..."

"What?"

When I first saw magic, I was so moved that I added to it in excitement without realizing it.

“Father, your magic is so cool. You are truly a great wizard worthy of respect.”

“No. This kid, really, ahem. Why are you doing this? All of a sudden.”

Did I jingle too much?

I said it because I was really surprised, but now I feel a little embarrassed.

Although he felt awkward for no reason, the Duke seemed to be in a good mood anyway.

I guess it's nice to hear your daughter say you're cool.

The corners of the Duke's mouth twitched, and even I, watching it, felt my heart flutter for no reason.

This isn't like dating or anything.

“Yvonne. If you really want to date, I’ll choose someone much more awesome than the Crown Prince.”

'Did I just say what I thought?'

That wasn't it.

I racked my brain to figure out why the Duke was suddenly suggesting a relationship.
