TBDNS - Chapter 100

Episode 100. Nice to meet you, Leana

“Is this what an unexpected encounter is like?”

“Maurice...”

“It’s nice to meet you here, Leana.”

Maurice smiled brightly with his pretty, white face. His eyes were as cold as ice.

“Father Maurice!”

After a while, three or four priests came running behind Maurice. They recognized Leana and quickly became alert and prepared for an attack.

Leana was now a top-ranking wanted person in the Vatican.

The events in the prayer room were kept under wraps, and the priests knew that she had killed people horribly and escaped.

“It’s surprising. I guessed that you had escaped Bluegale, but I didn’t think you would come all the way to the imperial palace.”

“There are many places that need my help after leaving the Vatican.”

Leana smiled brightly at Maurice’s smiling face. She glared at his cold eyes.

“What should I do? You’ll have to be dragged back to the Vatican.”

“Is it possible?”

While the two glared at each other, engaging in a war of nerves, the rest of the priests prayed to raise their divine powers.

After a while, a faint blue light enveloped the priests’ bodies.

Leana snickered as she looked back at them.

“What do you think they can do to me?”

Maurice shrugged.

“We should give them something to do.”

Maurice nodded to the priests.

At that moment, the blue light surrounding the priests shot out toward Leana and began to wrap around them.

Paat!

“...!”

However, it was quickly shattered by Leana’s spell, and the priests were thrown far away.

“Haa, haa!”

Leana must have been hit, too, as she shook her shoulders rapidly, out of breath.

“Wipe it.”

Maurice approached her and held out a handkerchief.

Before she knew it, blood was flowing from her nose. She must have forced herself to use her power while she hadn’t fully recovered.

“I told you so. You waste your power foolishly.”

“Shut up.”

Leana wiped the blood with the back of her hand instead of his handkerchief.

“I really like your tenacity.”

Maurice smiled faintly as he put the handkerchief back.

“But I can’t let a sinner off.”

He soon lifted the Pope’s scepter with a solemn expression and quietly closed his eyes.

“Savior of those who pray to you, please...”

As he began to chant a prayer softly,

whioooo...

The air swirled like a whirlwind and instantly enveloped Leana.

“Whoa!”

The power was so strong that Leana staggered and couldn’t keep her balance. Even in the midst of all that, she raised her magical power and chanted a spell, and a haze-like energy flowed out from her body.

However, it was all scattered by the whirlwind, so it was useless.

“Don’t struggle, Leana. The more you do, the more your suffering will increase.”

“You son of a bitch!”

Maurice chanted the spell louder.

“All the power of heaven and earth is here to testify through you...”

Resisting that force, Leana was now bleeding not only from her nose but also from the corners of her mouth.

Then she slowly collapsed as if she were falling.

The other priests watched the fight between the two, dumbfounded.

They had heard that Maurice had powers that surpassed the Pope, but this was the first time they had seen it with their own eyes.

“Still, isn’t this a bit cruel? If this continues, even that child’s life will be...”

“What’s cruel? Don’t you know how horribly that child killed the priests? We should do the same.”

Did Maurice think the same?

Slowly opening his eyes, he glared at the fallen Leana and finished his last prayer.

“Destroy him!”

Shukaak!

At that moment, an incredible force flew towards Maurice.

A sharp blade passed before his eyes.

“Ugh!”

He quickly dodged, but dropped the Pope’s scepter as he felt a hot pain in his shoulder.

His pure white priestly robes were soaked with blood.

However, he didn’t have time to feel the pain.

Shukaak! Shukaak!

The fierce attack continued on his neck and waist, driving him back.

The priests prayed to stop the attack, but it was no use.

The shadows that attacked Maurice in the darkness were too fast to pinpoint their targets.

There was not enough time to set up a defensive formation.

In the meantime, Maurice was just scurrying between the trees and statues around him.

Eventually, he lost his balance and fell over.

“Father Maurice!”

Hearing the priests’ screams, he closed his eyes and chanted a soft prayer.

“Save us in battle!”

Now, if the blade were to cut his body, it would be engulfed in flames.

“...”

However, nothing happened even after a while.

When he opened his eyes, the blade that had been attacking him in the darkness as if it would kill him had disappeared, and a tall man was riding Leana on a horse.

“Damn it, stop it!”

The priests rushed to their horses at his shout, but it was no use.

The man who had jumped on his horse and waved the reins disappeared into the darkness like the wind.

It had happened so quickly.

All Maurice could see was the face of the man who had driven him to the brink of death.

“...!”

Dazzling silver hair fluttering in the dark night sky.

A sharp profile and cool blue-gray eyes.

“Countess Christine Weiss.”

Maurice turned around at the Emperor’s voice.

“That’s the one...?”

Maurice had heard the name before.

The poets and journalists had been constantly talking about the war hero of Kalame.

“And the other wolf clan that the priest was looking for.”

“I think so.”

He looked very much like her father, who was in Leana’s pendant.

Christine Weiss!

I will repay this humiliation several times over!

Maurice clutched his bleeding shoulder and vowed.

“What, the doctor has passed away?”

April, who had just heard the news from her maid, was shocked.

“Yes, he committed suicide at home a little while ago.”

“That’s ridiculous...”

She couldn’t believe it.

Her doctor was a very optimistic person.

He had laughed at April, who had been lying down without eating or drinking, saying how joyful life was. How could such a person suddenly commit suicide?

“Get ready to go out quickly. I have to go pay my respects.”

Before going to the funeral, it seemed unbelievable.

“There’s no need for that.”

At that moment, the door opened and the Empress came in.

“Oh my!”

The maids quickly lifted their skirts and bowed.

“The two of us have something important to discuss, so everyone should leave.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

When the two were left alone, the Princess let out a sigh with an exhausted face.

“Oh my, my doctor has passed away...”

“Stop talking nonsense and leave the palace right now.”

“Yes, what is that?”

“I’ve roughly packed your luggage and put it in the carriage, so you just change your clothes and come out. Wear simple, inconspicuous clothes, and put your hair up. If anyone asks, tell them you’re Baroness Leon.”

April couldn’t come to her senses as the Empress continued to pour out her words. And fear struck her.

“Where do you want me to go now...?”

“They say there’s an experienced doctor here, so don’t worry too much. Seira will be here for the time being.”

“Doctor? What are you talking about?”

The Empress glared at the frightened April with resentment.

“The Vatican already found out, so what can we do! His Majesty barely managed to buy time while trying to drag you away, saying that you were pregnant with Stone’s child.”

Only then did April realize that her personal doctor had not committed suicide but had been murdered.

The Emperor had to hide the fact that his daughter was pregnant with the wolf clan’s child.

That’s why he killed the personal doctor who knew about it.

“If Father asks, tell him that I’m pregnant. This is all for His Majesty, so trust me. I won’t forget your honor later!”

It’s all mu fault.

Because of my lies!

April shed tears of regret toward her personal doctor.

“No, Mother. I... am not pregnant with Marquis Oswald’s child. I was trying to help my Father...”

Crack!

The Empress’s sharp hand slap flew.

“Wake up! He’s a member of the wolf clan. If they find out you’re pregnant with his child, it could spread to your father and your sister. Come out quickly.”

“Oh my...!”

Finally, the empress shouted at her maids outside the door.

“Change April’s clothes quickly and bring her out through the back door.”

Late at night, a carriage quietly left the palace.

Jan’s eyes, standing by the window with a bottle of alcohol in his hand, sank heavily.

“It couldn’t be helped.”

Maurice, who had been cut in the shoulder by Christine, was now half-sane.

Injuring the Pope’s representative was tantamount to declaring war on the Vatican.

And the wolf clan dared to do so.

If April were to be found out that she was pregnant with the wolf clan’s child in this situation, she wouldn’t be safe.

***

Two days later.

This mansion, located in a forest with few people, was like a sturdy fortress.

The high walls and heavy iron gate were intimidating just by looking at them.

Grrrrrr.

As Christine rode his horse toward the mansion, the iron gate opened automatically.

This was the mansion where Jennifer and the WG 1st Knights had been conducting secret training. It was also where Adele had been practicing shooting.

Two days ago, an arrest warrant was issued for the entire Greenhill for bringing Leana from the palace.

And it was an order from the Vatican, not the Emperor.

Now, not only Kalime but also the surrounding countries knew that Christine was a wolf clan.

There were also rumors that he would join hands with an evil wizard and throw the world into chaos.

The capital, Greenhill, was already sealed off, and the knights of the Papal court were quickly entering Greenhill.

Perhaps out of fear that he would join hands with Isabelle, the Emperor had even deployed his troops around the Duke of Rodwell.

It was clear that this mansion would soon be discovered.

“Where have you been?”

As soon as the horse carrying Christine entered the garden, Adele quickly ran over.

She had been practicing shooting and swordsmanship recently.

With her hair tied up tightly and wearing a shirt and pants, she looked like a pretty boy.

“What happened?”

“I think something happened to you.”

Christine stared at Adele, who was worried, and then beckoned her over.

“Adele, come closer for a moment.”

“Huh?”

Choook!

While riding his horse, he bent down and kissed her soft cheek.

“What? People are watching...”

He caressed her flushed cheek and glared at her.

“Who’s watching?”

When he looked around,

“Oh my, the sky is really nice!”

“What? There are a lot of dark clouds.”

Jennifer and Zimmer were interested in today’s weather and pretended not to notice.

The other knights who were training also pretended not to notice and quietly stepped back.

“Was it too weak to kiss me?”

“You’re crazy.”

Adele, who had been glaring, quickly pulled his neck and kissed him.

“Hey... What happened to me just now...?”

“What are you talking about? Stop fooling around and come here quickly. Leana is awake.”

Adele urged him as if she had never done anything. Leana, who had been rescued from the palace that day, had not regained consciousness until now.

“You did happen to me.”

“If you don’t know, you’re an idiot.”

Zimmer and Jennifer whispered behind Christine, who got off his horse in shock. Regardless of the seriousness of the situation, time passed here as usual. Everyone trained at a set time, ate at a set time, and occasionally made silly jokes. So Adele didn't know how serious the situation was. She only thought that Leana and Christine were being pursued by the Vatican and the Emperor. That's because he had issued a gag order not to tell Adele about the situation. He didn't want to worry her as much as possible.
