PLEMF - Chapter 11

Garcia laughed.

"Riding the flames. Is the lord trying to test this old woman? That child was born with a flame itself."

Alseid's face flashed a hint of satisfaction.

"Thank you. Then, if she wants to make a pact with us, will you seal the language?"

Garcia bowed lightly in response.

"As long as this humble body is alive, the lord will use it as much as you want."

What was it, a shaman?

Shaman of Halias...

"Could it be that such a little old lady is not the guardian of the North Wall?"

After a while, the servants brought a piece of paper and a quill to write the oath.

Garcia sat down leisurely in the middle and raised her quill over the paper.

Alseid spoke slowly.

"Liana Le Meridy does not use her magic against Halias at any moment."

The old woman's handwriting, which seemed to have barely made it this far, was surprisingly strong and flowing.

Garcia wrote down Alseid's words at once and asked.

"Is this all?"

Alseid nodded.

"For now, yes."

Garcia then slowly approached me with a piece of paper

"Will Meridy's little lady make a pact with Halias? The pact that this old woman takes the initiative to make will not be broken as long as the little lady exists in this world."

There was a sound of a chair dragging in the distance, and Theodore approached with a worried face.

He put one knee on the floor and made eye level.

"Liana, I'm not sure you've understood all of these unfortunate things that have happened in the past few days. Did you really understand what this promise meant?"

I nodded and answered.

"When Theodore wants to get better, it's a phrase that makes you want to make a fortune. (Even when Theodore tries to kill me, I can't use fire.)"

"Oh, poor girl."

Theodore raised his palm on the back of my hand to see if I was crying.

"Absolutely not. The promise of Theodore Halias will be valid as long as we live. I'll definitely take you to Meridy. Someday, I'll make sure to put you back in place."

Across the table, Caliph clicked his tongue, but I nodded to Theodore.

Then I held out my palm over Garcia's oath.

She placed her palm on the back of my hand and muttered something.

Soon, with a burning sensation, the long sentence on the palm of my hand was engraved on the paper.

Suddenly, my head rang.

"The pledge has been signed."

After Garcia declared, Alseid spoke arrogantly.

"You are my daughter now. Liana Halias."

Liana Halias.

The new name seemed to be a boob in my chest.

Mom, did you go back to the flames?

Isn't it?

I wish my mom had gone to a better place...

I'll definitely be a Meridy again.

Please support me until the day I get my name back.

***

Breakfast started late.

"What are you going to say to the royal family?"

When Caliph asked frustratedly. Alseid was slicing a pie with a nonchalant face.

"What do I say? Is there any reason for Halias to answer the question that the royal palace will absorb Meridy's estate? Even if there is no opposition, it will be sensitive."

Theodore spoke cautiously.

"But father. The one and only Meridy descendant will never be hidden in Halias Castle. She's young now, but what if Liana grows up and wants to find her estate?"

Then he lowered his voice even more.

"Are you not going to send her back then?"
What? That's very difficult!

I was very upset, but I pretended not to hear and ate the soup.

For now, I have to stick to Hallas somehow.

Alseid laughed.

"Theodore, have you ever seen Cecilia Le Meridy use magic?"

"Yes, I saw it at Parvati's feast last year..."

Alseid shook his head.

"It is not just the burning of the flame on the feast day. If Cecilia le Meridy had lent her strength to Halias, Lake Halias would not have frozen all year round."

After all, it's my mother.

The soup in my mouth, which had no taste, became incredibly fragrant.

Alseid glanced in my direction and continued.

"If she grows up and wants to find her own land, no one can stop her. Everything about her will prove herself to be Meridy, and she doesn't even need my help."

"Even in the royal family. Do you want to admit it?"

Alseid laughed.

"If the descendants of Meridy appear in Jantar and erect a pillar of fire in front of the temple of Parvati, all the people will worship her. She is Meridy's daughter and a descendant of Pravasi. As long as she is alive, the royal family cannot ignore her."

Caliph intervened a little sarcastically.

"But you dare to give her the surname of Halias and raise her as Liana Halias? Dealing with a huge adoption tax?"

Alseid replied bitterly.

"Caliph, look at her. All she has is red hair, and the moment she leaves Halias Territory, he will be the target of everyone."

I silently scratched the bowl of soup.

Pretending not to understand properly, the bowl was already empty.

I was full, but I reluctantly grabbed a small piece of bread and started eating it.

Grieving the loss of parents cannot ruin even a second of life.

Mom and Dad wouldn't want that either.

"Until she grows up, the name of Halias will protect her. Then the child will not reject Halias, so it is not a loser."

Caliph insisted.

"But today will be remembered as the day when Halias chose Meridy. Between the royal family and Meridy."

Alseid put down his fork.

"But my answer is Meridy's. She's young, but she'll soon be the only flame in the kingdom."

Then he suddenly looked in my direction.

"Aren't you my daughter?"

I was startled by the sudden call of my name and dropped the bread.

Alseid Halias was smiling at me.

***

Ugh!

As soon as the morning time passed, I swallowed up everything I had forced into my mouth.

Dorian kept asking, even as she was busy cleaning up my vomit and patting me on the back

"You are in Halias? Are you going to be our Princess?"

I nodded again, as I had done so many times before.

Yes, nanny.

I can't believe it, but that's what happened.

"Oh, may the little baby be blessed with Pravasi. Somehow, the moment I saw you for the first time, my heart was touched."

It was the first time Dorian had folded her hands in prayer.

After a loud knock, the door suddenly opened.

Unexpectedly, it was Alseid who appeared through the door.

"Is the child ready to go out?"

Dorian asked, a little puzzled.

"Are you going out with the Princess baby, my lord?"

"I'm going to the chapel. She can't go to the funeral, but she has to say hello to her parents on the way."

Alseid was dressed in a pitch-black uniform.

"Oh, yes... If so..."

Dorian quickly looked at me and replied.

"I just need to trim her hair a little, my lord. Give me a moment."

Dorian fixed my hair that had been tied up in two braids into a modest shape and decorated it with a black ribbon.

Then, instead of the yellow cloak, she put on a black cloak that appeared to have been worn by Shion.

Then she tapped her palms over my cheeks.

"You're greeting me cheerfully, baby. Baby Liana will be staying in Halias, so your parents will feel at ease."

"...Is that so?"

Dorian nodded quickly.

"Of course. Do you remember Dorian's old story?"

Then I frowned.

'So the story is real?'

I wanted to hear more details, but Dorian opened the door right away

Alseid reached out his gloved hand toward me.

I felt like I was going to get sick again, but he wouldn't forgive me if I vomited on his gloves.

I walked over and took Alsaed's hand
At the same time, his long legs strode forward.

"Wow!"

I couldn't keep up with the big stride, so I fell straight to the ground, kneeling on one knee.

No, I was holding his hand, so I was pulled up just before I fell down.

"Tsk..."

Alseid clicked his tongue and stopped.

Hey, stepdad.

The length of your legs and mine is more than four times the length of my legs.

I was determined to tear off my leg and follow his steps.

Alseid bent down and grabbed me with both hands.

Then he put me on one arm.

"I'm a busybody, unlike you."

Alas, you will...

His busy body started walking again.

He just put me on his forearm and didn't hold me properly.

Is it a fast pace?

I felt terrified, swaying precariously in his arms, but Alseid didn't seem to have the slightest intention of supporting me with his spare hand.

'But it's not like I can hug your arms, right?'

No, you said I was your daughter?

I don't know.

I threw my face into the face of the danger of falling and hugged one of his arms.

Alseid flinched a little, but he didn't turn me away.

I went down the stairs.

At the end of the hall, the butler and his servants bowed to greet.

"Welcome, Master."

Alseid's answer was absurd.

"I hope you'll be ready when you come back."

"No problem."

It looks like he made me work, right?
On the path lined with spiky conifers, Alseid and I got into the carriage.

The fur curtains swayed from the window of the carriage in a way that I had never seen before.

"It will arrive in a minute."

Alseid, who was sitting across from me, said bluntly.
