TBDNS - Chapter 51

Episode 51. This Beast Doesn't Sleep at Night

"Adele?"

When he patted her round cheek in surprise, Adele's lips rose slightly, and he could hear her breathing evenly.

She had already fallen into a deep sleep.

'Sleeping so defenselessly in front of a wolf.'

Christine looked at her sleeping with her head resting on one arm.

The bedroom where Adele's soft breathing could be heard was quiet and peaceful.

Occasionally, the firewood would crackle and make a crackling sound, and snow would fall outside the window.

That's right. It was snowing heavily outside.

Seventeen.

His first kiss with her.

It had snowed like this that day, too.

The day he first felt desire for the opposite sex and realized that wolf blood flowed inside him.

Was that why?

Even in the last battlefield, on snowy nights like this, memories of her would come to mind. When he remembered the sweet body scent from her that day, it was hard to suppress his desire.

And after such a long, long time, he finally had it.

Adele, you like this.

She was sleeping with a smile on her face, as if she didn’t know about his obscene desires, and she was innocent and lovely.

Her eyelashes were neatly arranged on her eyelids, which were so thin that the blood vessels were visible, and her silvery hairs looked just like a baby’s face.

But Christine, whose eyes were bright, saw clearly.

How seductive and tempting she had been when they had made love on the bed.

How hotly the innocent and bright woman had collapsed in his arms.

Just thinking about it made his gums tingle again and his body tense up.

Slowly brushing her sleeping hair, he whispered,

“Adele, are you going to sleep?”

Adele tossed and turned as if his touch tickled her.

“Ugh, Chris...”

She mumbled and buried her face in Christine’s chest and hugged his waist.

Then Adele’s long hair fell onto the bed, revealing the tattoo on her back.

At that moment, Christine’s heart pounded.

“But it was a bit strange. The bedroom was fine. There was a slight smell of alcohol, but that woman... was too calm to have been raped, and too pale to have enjoyed an affair.

He remembered what the woman named Vanessa had said.

Stone must have tattooed Adele that day.

Adele must have had that miserable expression on her face after she had the mark of his possession tattooed on her body. That’s why she must have lived with the guilt of Stone’s murder of Marquis Oswald.

Adele, who had strong pride, would rather be pointed at as a villain than have it known.

Just thinking about how horrible Adele must have felt up until now was unbearable for Christine.

Stone, you will be torn to pieces!

***

“...!”

Adele flinched and opened her eyes. Realizing that she was in Christine’s arms with her back turned, she hurriedly tried to get up.

Then he quickly climbed onto her back and put both knees down next to her waist.

“No, Chris... Don’t look...”

Adele twisted her body to lie down.

“It’s not your fault, Adele.”

Christine gently placed her hand on Adele’s back.

“I know. But it’s so horrible for you to see this.”

She didn’t want anyone else to see the mark of Stone’s possession. She didn’t want his pity or jealousy.

She wanted the two of them to be alone in this bedroom.

Christine began to write something with her finger on Adele’s white back.

CRISTINE

“Chris...tine ?”

Adele, concentrating on the movement of his fingers, muttered softly.

“Yes, my name also has that spelling. So, Adele, from now on, this isn’t Stone’s name; it’s part of my name. It’s not horrible anymore.”

“Ha... That’s right...”

She relaxed her body and smiled faintly as if in relief.

Christine placed his hand over her small, round hand and squeezed it. At that moment, Adele tensed, feeling a strange sense of crisis.

“Chris...”

“Shhh...”

Soon, his lips slowly brushed down her slender spine.

Chook, chook.

“Oh, it tickles. Stop...”

Adele tried to twist her body and escape, but he whispered thickly and languidly.

“It’s just beginning.”

“What...?”

In that moment, he revealed his white teeth and gently bit the nape of her neck.

“...!”

When Adele flinched and tilted her head back, Christine became strangely more excited.

“I’m planning on holding you properly this time.”

“That’s ridiculous. Then what was that a little while ago...?”

He whispered, gently licking Adele’s earlobe.

“Just warming up?”

Adele felt goosebumps run down her spine.

“You’re crazy! I thought I was going to die...”

“I’m sorry, I really can’t help it today.”

That terrifying whisper was so sweet and gentle that Adele felt like her ears were melting. And when she imagined his face smiling faintly behind her, her body naturally relaxed.

“You’re not really a beast...”

“Yes, I are.”

Adele instinctively gripped the bed sheets tightly. At the same time, he became a beast full of desire again and devoured her.

Tonight was too short to make up for the time that had passed.

***

Two days later.

“What about Adele?”

Christine asked Zimmer as he entered the office.

Zimmer clicked his tongue and scolded her.

“If you’re so worried, just go inside.”

“That’s okay. I’ll let the doctor and Tanya take care of it.”

After the first night, Adele hadn’t woken up for several days.

The doctor who came to see her said that she had simply fallen into a deep sleep due to accumulated mental and physical fatigue. Adele seemed to have fallen into a peaceful sleep, just as he had said.

However, as the afternoon of the second day passed and she hadn’t woken up, Christine began to feel uneasy.

Did he lose his senses while holding her and reveal his true self?

That was his biggest worry. He barely remembered anything about the time when he had been transformed into a wolf. That’s why he was worried that he had hurt Adele or that she had not woken up from the shock.

Zimmer, who was quick-witted, could not have ignored her inner thoughts.

“Yes. No matter how much you try to cosplay as an indifferent man, you can tell that you’re restless. His Majesty even asked what happened at the Marvel Palace. He said that the captain seemed to be somewhere else in his mind. Even though he was starving, he should have been okay...”

“So, what’s the news about Adele?”

Zimmer sighed as if he had given up. No matter how much he talked, it was clear that matter how much he talked, nothing would be heard.

“She’s awake.”

“Thank goodness.”

Despite her calm voice, Christine’s hands were busy organizing the documents piled on the desk and picking up his outerwear.

“I’ll stop for today, so you and the vice-captain can take care of the rest of the work...”

“Don’t worry about the palace work and go quickly.”

“Yes, please.”

Zimmer doubted his ears. He had never dreamed that the polite word “request” would come out of Christine’s mouth.

‘The reason he's been so eccentric all this time is because of his unsatisfied desires...’

As Christine, who was leaving the office, turned around, Zimmer automatically flinched and took a step back.

Could it be that he could hear his inner voice?

“Oh, there’s one more participant in this equestrian competition.”

“Huh? Who’s that all of a sudden?”

“Count Weiss.”

Zimmer’s eyes widened.

“Really? Even when His Majesty invited him, he declined so much...

However, he could quickly guess the reason.

Was it more of a rush than jealousy?

“Well, it wouldn’t hurt to win and raise the family’s status.”

Zimmer smiled slyly at Christine, who was pretending not to know.

“Well, if you flatten the Oswalds’ noses, the family’s status will rise. Plus, you’ll receive lots of love from Adele.”

“Stop talking nonsense and prepare without a hitch!”

And Zimmer quickly grabbed Christine, who was hurriedly leaving.

“Wait a minute, sir.”

He quickly made a bouquet of roses from the flower vase that decorated the hallway.

“Take this.”

“This?”

“Of course. On a day like today, there is no weapon better than flowers. And today, you absolutely must not be an animal. Today, just be plain...”

Christine, who would normally have been angry, accepted the bouquet of roses with an innocent face.

“I’ll try.”

And he hurried his steps again.

“It’s not about trying, it’s about being like that. What if Miss Adele runs away?”

Christine clenched his fists as he heard Zimmer nagging behind him. But there was no time right now. He thought he would feel relieved if he saw Adele as soon as possible.

***

Knock knock.

The door opened, and a huge bouquet of flowers suddenly appeared along with a fragrant smell. Adele, who was sitting on the bed in her pajamas, was bewildered.

“Chris?”

“How are you?”

He asked, casually handing Adele a huge bouquet of flowers.

“I’m fine. But why all these flowers...?”

“I picked them up on the way here.”

He wasn’t wrong. If he was going to give her a bouquet, he thought it would be better if it were big. That’s why he gathered all the flowers that were decorating the marble palace and brought them.

“You must like flowers as much as Sir Zimmer.”

“No way. I’m just trying to look good for you.”

Christine lightly kissed Adele on the forehead.

“Then it worked.”

Adele kissed him on the cheek in return.

“Thank goodness.”

What was really fortunate was that Adele’s reaction was the same as usual. Either his wolf transformation hadn’t progressed while he was holding her, or he hadn’t seen it.

Of course, since he had turned off the lights in the bedroom, unless he had completely transformed and gone berserk, the chances of being caught were slim.

Of course, Christine wasn’t planning on hiding his identity forever. But now, he absolutely had to keep it a secret. At least, he had to find solid evidence that it wasn’t the Silver Wolf who killed her mother.

Still, he was worried whether Adele would accept it easily.

“By the way, what did you eat?”

He asked, pulling a chair next to the bed.

“I didn’t have an appetite, so I just had a little soup.”

“No. You need to eat well to recover.”

“I was just a little tired. I’ve been very nervous lately because of various things.”

Then, Christine saw the red bite marks on Adele’s white nape. They were marks from his teeth grinding in excitement.

“I didn’t... hurt you or anything that day, did I?”

Adele glared at him with a flushed face.

“No, but I’m not as physically fit as you are.”

Christine bowed his head with a dejected expression.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t control myself that day. I should have made your first night a good memory, but at some point, my greed got the better of me. I ruined your first night like this...”

The once fearsome Count Weiss now looked like a big puppy. Just looking around, afraid of getting scolded by his master.

Adele quietly smiled and patted his head.

“Chris, we made love. So I don’t like it when it’s only good for me. You liked it too, right?”

“Go back.”

When Adele was startled and stopped stroking her head, Christine bent his head closer so that she could stroke it.

“Keep going, Adele.”

“What, like a spoiled brat?”

“I'm being spoiled. I was a little scared because you didn’t wake up for two days.”

Leaning his head on Adele’s shoulder, he poured out his feelings like a child.

“Why, you're afraid that you’ll do something wrong?”

“And you’ll be afraid and hate me.”

Adele’s soft laughter could be heard from above.

“Why me? You’re the one who’s doing it, Chris.”

He must have been really scared. Seeing how he felt so reassured by Adele’s laughter and warm voice.
