TBDNS - Chapter 40

Episode 40. Essential Postures for a Pleasant Date

“Haa, haa!”

Every time Christine exhaled heavily, his shoulders visibly shook.

His well-built upper body, like a bronze sculpture, was all glistening with sweat.

The heat of his body rose steamingly in the cold winter weather, but he seemed dissatisfied.

“Let’s do it one more time!”

Groans could be heard here and there.

“Oh, please, Captain!”

“My legs are shaking so much I’m going to die! I’m going to collapse while on duty.”

The guards grumbled as they lay on the floor as if they were going to die at any moment.

However, he glanced at the sharpened blade with a dissatisfied expression. Then his eyes wavered for a moment.

A familiar scent...!

“Is it over now?”

Adele was approaching them. Behind her were Tanya and the maids, each carrying a large rattan basket.

However, Christine’s eyes did not catch anyone else’s eye.

Adele, with her long hair down and a green ribbon tied around it, looked so innocent and charming. Her hair swayed and reflected the sunlight as she walked, making it so dazzling that he couldn’t look at her face.

‘Damn, what am I supposed to do when she shows up with such a pretty face after I’ve finally calmed down?’

But Adele added kindness to her pretty appearance and said to the guards,

“I thought you might be hungry, so I packed some snacks. I brought plenty, so everyone, please eat.”

Adele had come to save the soldiers who had fallen victim to her fiancĂ©’s strong temper. Otherwise, she might really be hated.

“Wow!”

The guards who had been cheering with joy stopped and looked at Christine. He was glaring at them with murderous eyes.

However, Adele smiled even prettier at them as if to tell them not to worry.

“Actually, it was the captain who asked me to do this.”

“Wow!”

The soldiers now rushed toward Adele and the maids carrying the baskets without hesitation.

In the end, Christine fiercely grabbed Adele by the arm and dragged her out.

“Go slow, Chris!”

Adele shouted as she was dragged by Christine.

He let go of her hand only after they reached a quiet place where there were no people.

Adele grumbled, caressing her wrist.

“I really thought it was going to break.”

It wasn’t a joke. There was a red handprint on her thin, white wrist.

“Oh, sorry. You always laugh like that everywhere...”

Christine was flustered, caressing Adele’s wrist and not knowing what to do. Adele laughed, not even realizing that her wrist hurt.

“So you were jealous because I smiled at other people?”

“What about jealousy?”

“It’s more suspicious to be angry. Are you really jealous of your subordinates?”

When Adele smirked and brought her face closer,

“What, what are you doing!”

Christine flinched and took a step back.

“Actually, I was like that too.”

“What...?”

“I don’t like other people looking at your body.”

Christine, who was tilting his head, realized that he was half naked. Even though it was the middle of winter, he had taken off his top because he was sweating from practicing.

“Do you know how many times the maids were peeking?”

Christine was dumbfounded.

“You weren’t peeking, too?”

“Oh, why me? I deserve to be seen with confidence.”

“I see. Then look as much as you want.”

Christine stood confidently facing Adele with his arms spread wide, not feeling embarrassed at all. Adele was the one who felt embarrassed in this situation.

When he was in his uniform, he was slim and slender. But this naked body had broad shoulders and smooth, sharp muscles without a single ounce of fat. His skin was so firm that it seemed like a person’s body, his abs were sculpted like sculptures, and his pelvis was slightly revealed below his waist.

“Ah!”

Adele quickly turned her head in embarrassment.

‘What was I thinking just now!’

Christine’s laughing voice came from behind her.

“If you want, I can take off my pants and show you. Should I take them off?”

“Are you crazy? Get dressed quickly!”

When Adele shouted in disgust, Christine gestured with a regretful face.

Zimmer, who had been waiting with his clothes in the distance, ran over.

“You don’t have anything else planned right now, do you?”

When Adele turned around, he was already buttoning up his shirt and putting on a jacket. His naked body looked like that of a beast, but in his neat clothes, he quickly became a handsome nobleman.

“Nothing.”

“Then let’s go out together.”

“Where?”

“Go get the ring.”

They were hurriedly making the couple's ring, so they said that even if they made them as quickly as possible, they would need time by today. So, unfortunately, they couldn’t make the rings on the day of the engagement ceremony. However, Christine couldn’t wait any longer.

“Oh, it was today? I was curious anyway.”

When Adele smiled brightly, Christine quickly turned his head away.

It was crazy. They had only had an engagement ceremony, but Adele’s every action felt more provocative than usual.

Damn, damn winter!

“This is truly the best couple ring ever!”

The jeweler excitedly shouted as he opened the couple's ring box.

Then, as if to show everyone, he spun around holding the box with exaggerated gestures. All the employees and customers inside the store gathered around with excited faces. Even the passersby on the street glanced around the store, wondering what was going on.

This was the most famous jewelry store in the bustling Green Hills.

“I really like it.”

Adele was embarrassed by his exaggerated behavior, but she was quite satisfied with the couple's ring.

“Look! This splendid blue light emanating from the depths! Isn’t it so arrogant and beautiful, as its name suggests, ‘The Snow Queen’?”

Inside the box was a thick ring with a blue diamond.

The diamond, named ‘The Snow Queen’, was something that Christine had specially acquired. He was also the owner of a diamond mine.

The rings that looked like one were actually two rings combined.

Adele’s was a thin rose gold ring with the Snow Queen shining in the center.

Christine’s ring was a thick ring without shine, and instead of a gem, the upper corner was cut in a V shape. When the two were combined, the ‘Snow Queen’ would fill the cut in his ring.

Two imperfect things had to be combined to become a perfect one.

Adele really liked the meaning contained in the couple ring.

“Give me your hand, Adele.”

When she shyly held out her left hand, Christine knelt down on one knee without hesitation.

“What are you doing, Chris?”

Adele whispered, looking around in embarrassment. Many eyes were watching them.

“This is how a couple's ring should be given.”

He put the ring on Adele’s finger and lightly kissed the back of her hand. Then he made a rather serious expression.

“I swear, Adele. As long as this ring does not wither, my heart will never change.”

Cheers erupted from the gathered people.

Christine, who swore eternal love, looked like a Prince from a story.

Adele’s face turned red, but she couldn’t run away. The eyes of the people looking at her were demanding that she also play the role of a romantic heroine.

It was awkward, but Adele didn’t hate that role. No, she didn’t know that she was being manipulated by his deep gaze.

After catching her breath, she lightly kissed Christine’s forehead as he knelt on one knee. Then she put the ring on his long, thick finger and swore.

“I swear, too. Until this ring breaks, you are the only one for me.”

As expected of a romantic heroine, her bright and beautiful smile was a bonus.

The onlookers around cheered and applauded.

***

'What on earth have I done!'

As they left the jewelry store, the onlookers outside cheered as well. Adele felt like hiding in a hole. She must have been possessed just a moment ago.

"What was that?"

It was all because of Christine's perfect showmanship. Being with him, she found herself wanting to join in without even realizing it.

"To show people. How well we fit together and how happy we are."

"What's the point of showing them that?"

Christine laughed playfully, brushing back his silver hair that was tossed in the wind.

"Well, maybe a kind of preemptive strike against those who spread malicious rumors?"

Only then did Adele realize that his over-the-top showmanship was his plan.

It was in the same context that he had kissed the rose she had dropped from the window of the palace and had shown his affection without hesitation in front of the crowd that Seira had brought.

Of course, it would be an unpleasant story for everyone if the hero of Kalame ended up with a dark and evil woman.

The hero's side always had to be the best woman whom everyone could accept, like a Princess or a Saint.

Even if they didn't show their malice like Seira, everyone would want to take Adele away from him. It was natural that malicious rumors would spread if the two of them seemed even a little distant.

So it was necessary to show that the two of them were healthy and happy, even if it was intentional.

Fortunately, there was no need to act special for that.

“Aren’t you cold?”

Christine asked at that moment.

The two were walking down the street of the shopping district. Zimmer and the carriage had already been moved for their date alone.

“Not really...”

“I’m cold.”

Christine then extended one arm as if to link arms.

“Is this also a preemptive strike toward people, Count?”

“No, it’s an essential pose for a pleasant date.”

Adele laughed when Christine winked slyly.

“It’s better than being the preemptive strike.”

Then she gently linked arms with him.

It was fortunate that it was the middle of winter. She could use the excuse of being cold to stay close to him. Just feeling his body temperature made her feel hot.

“Oh my, is that Count Weiss?”

“As rumored, he’s tall and dazzling.”

As they passed by, they occasionally heard whispering. Every time, Adele felt proud of her man.

“You must be more famous than I thought. Even the common people recognize you.”

When Adele playfully whispered, he proudly replied,

“Of course. You didn’t see the article that said I was the best husband in Calais.”

“Oh, really?”

But the problem was that Christine wasn’t the only celebrity.

“So that woman next to the Count is the villainess of Calais?”

“That’s unexpected. I thought she’d look more glamorous and sexy.”

“So the Count would be completely fooled.”

Christine’s steps stopped. Judging from his frozen expression, he seemed ready to have a fight with the people at any moment.

Adele felt dizzy. She could clearly see what kind of rumors would spread if he caused trouble in front of all these people.  ‘The hero controlled by the villainess’, ‘The hero of Calais has fallen for the villainess!’...

Provocative rumors like that would spread.

“Wow, that’s a pretty dessert shop! Should we go in there and get something to eat?”

Adele pointed to the shop full of cakes on display as if she hadn’t heard anything. Christine also seemed to think that if she hadn't heard, there was no need to step forward and make a fuss.

"That's good. I was out of the woods, too."
