IWAEBS - Chapter 134 < What are you hiding there? >

“Would you like to hold him, Your Majesty?”

Rosie asked Rams as she held him in her arms. Linel awkwardly held out both arms, flustered.

“I’ve never held a child before...

“I did too.”

Rosie carefully held Rams in her arms.

Rams stared up at Linel with his eyes wide open in Linel’s arms, then smiled brightly.

Although his eyes hadn’t seen much since he was born, he knew that his appearance was cool.

I was looking at Rams because I thought it was cute, and I felt his gaze on me.

“You look good, Your Majesty.”

She said that because she thought he looked good holding a child, but Linel’s eyes suddenly became moist.

Why is he doing that?

When Rams looked up at him and babbled, his stiff expression loosened up again as he repeatedly said ‘Ururu peekaboo.’

Rams laughed so hard that his belly fell out, and this time he shouted 'Alalala' and made a funny face.

If we had a child, he would hold the child with that kind of expression and be happy, right?

The moment I thought of a child who looked half like him and half like me, I also remembered what Princess Resilia had said.

'You can't get pregnant.'

Fortunately, I had only taken one magic potion from the clinic, so it didn't go as the siblings of the Kingdom of Shattonil had hoped, but I almost couldn't have a child in my entire life. It's dizzying just thinking about it.

I unconsciously frowned and lowered my gaze, but I raised my head again at the sound of Linel's cough.

"Ahem, holding a baby isn't easy."

He passed Rams to Rosie again.

"This little thing doesn't sleep all night and torments people, right?"

He spoke as if he was nitpicking, but he couldn't take his eyes off Rams.

"The thing that makes you go crazy is the baby human, Moiya~."

Moiya said as he appeared from under the bed.

“I guess that’s where you sleep.”

Linel glanced under the bed and chuckled.

“Yeah, sleep here with your butt.”

Moiya said, dragging Aoshi’s tail out.

“That cat, Aoshi?”

“Meow.”

When he bent down to pat Aoshi, Aoshi licked his hand and lay down like a puppy, rubbing his face against his hand.

Moiya looked at Aoshi, who was acting cute towards Linel, and then clicked his tongue and flew over to sit on my shoulder.

“Is Norton or Burton coming? Raphael, what time is it?”

“It’s ten o’clock sharp, Your Majesty.”

“He’ll be here soon; he’s been here every day around this time.”

Rosie quickly answered.

“Aha, every day?”

Linel asked, looking at Rosie, and she answered, “Yes!” and then lowered her head, saying, “Ah.”

At the sight of Rosie’s helpless face, he and I met and laughed silently.

“It’s strange that no rumors have spread about the fact that a foreign Prince visits the concubine’s quarters late every night. It’ll be okay since you two are together today, though.”

Raphael said carefully with a worried face.

“It’s okay. Norton has a lot of stinky things, so don’t come in there every day, Moiya~.”

Moiya said, pointing to the terrace door.

Linel burst out laughing at Moiya’s words, then turned serious and asked Rosie,

“Does the Prince not know about Moiya’s existence yet?”

“Yes, Your Majesty. He did interpret the ancient book about wyverns written in Pasha’s language, but he didn’t say anything about Moiya.”

“I see. Then you should go back inside for now.”

Linel said to Moiya, pointing under the bed.

“No! Don’t order me around.”

“Moiya, stay inside.”

“Yes! Master.”

Moiya, who had been talking back to him, quickly crawled under the bed at my word and dragged Aoshi inside.

“I’m bored alone.”

“Meow!”

Aoshi struggled, but it was no use.

Linel narrowed his eyes and looked at Moiya with his hurt pride.

At that moment, there was a knock on the terrace door.

Knock, knock.

“I guess you’re here!”

Rosie jumped in place and smiled brightly as if she had been waiting for her lover, but then her smile disappeared when she saw Linel.

“I’ll open it.”

He walked to the terrace and opened the door himself.

Prince Norton assumed that Rosie was the one who opened the terrace door, so he naturally entered the bedroom, but he stumbled when he saw him.

“Come in.”

“Your Majesty?! Gasp...!”

Prince Norton’s surprised gaze that had been lingering on Linel’s face moved to me, Raphael, and Sharon, who were standing behind him.

When Prince Norton froze in place with his mouth wide open, Linel pushed Prince Norton’s back into the room.

“Norton or Button, come in first?”

Linel walked to the table first and sat down, and everyone else sat around her.

Prince Norton sat on the chair, caught his breath, and began to tell his story one by one.

Linel, who had listened to the story of Princess Resilia’s midnight escape from the person involved, quietly opened his mouth.

“You and I have something in common.”

“What... are you talking about?”

“We have the same person we want to kill. I’ll kill him first, but.”

“Your Majesty, I can’t give in to that either. Rams and I almost lost our lives when we fell off a cliff.”

“What Prince Tesla did to the Empress and me was no small feat.”

Linel gritted his teeth and replied, then looked at Rams in Rosie’s arms and asked Prince Norton.

“I heard you decided to leave Rams with Rosie’s attendant’s cousin?”

“Yes.”

“Instead, how about leaving Rams here with my secretary’s sister?”

He pointed to Raphael.

“...Yes?”

Prince Norton looked at Raphael with a puzzled look.

Then Raphael cleared his throat and explained.

“You don’t have to worry about safety. The imperial knights will be on guard 24 hours a day inside and outside of my sister’s mansion, and there will be knights walking around in casual clothes to thoroughly guard the area so that no suspicious people approach.”

“There’s something more important to tell you.”

Linel hinted at something to Raphael.

“Oh, yes. I was going to tell you that anyway.”

Raphael put a lot of strength into his voice this time and made a proud expression.

“My sister, she is a symbol of fertility, to the point that people around her say that she gives birth to children as a hobby.”

“How many times has your sister given birth?”

I unknowingly interrupted Raphael’s words.

Rosie opened her eyes wide and listened to Raphael with curious eyes.

Raphael answered as if he had been waiting for the question.

“She gave birth to seven children in ten years, and she said she would take a break starting next year. She is currently unable to control her overflowing milk, so she feels bad about throwing it away.”

“...That’s a good thing for Rams.”

I spoke while watching Prince Norton’s expression.

“That’s right. I always felt bad about feeding Rams formula milk, but it’s really a good thing!”

Rosie was the happiest.

Linel and Prince Norton were bewildered by Raphael’s words, but they nodded when the women all said it was a good thing.

“Oh, I told my sister that Rams was born outside of the Empire. So she will take good care of him as if he were her own blood.”

“!”

Everyone was surprised by Raphael’s shocking lie.

“...But will she believe that?”

When I asked Raphael with a worried expression, Linel added a word.

“I said she didn’t even suspect it. I guess that’s because his younger brother is famous there.”

“What is Secretary Raphael famous for that she doesn’t suspect it?”

Prince Norton looked at Raphael’s polite face and asked Linel.

“The Open Pants of the Imperial Palace.”

“...Yes?”

“It’s famous for that. Raphael, how many years have you been working as the Open Pants of the Imperial Palace?”

“Your Majesty, I told you it wasn’t for only a few years.”

Raphael whispered to him with a resentful expression.

Prince Norton looked Raphael up and down as he stood next to Linel, then quietly sighed.

“Somehow...I wondered why you had your zipper open.”

As if to lend credibility to Linel’s words, Raphael’s zipper happened to be half-open.

Raphael protested, shouting, “That’s a misunderstanding!” at Prince Norton’s gaze.

“Where have you been, you punk?”

In response to his questioning, Raphael quickly turned around and zipped up, saying, “To the bathroom.”

Raphael was aggrieved, saying that the zipper was just broken, but Rosie and Sharon were already glaring at him as if they were disgusted.

“Oh? Is there something so great about that?”

Moiya suddenly came out from under the bed, flew towards Raphael, and grabbed his zipper.

“Ah, why are you doing this?”

“Raphael, open it properly before I blow fire in here.”

Raphael was startled by Moiya’s threat.

“Help me, Aoshi! Just bite it first.”

When Moiya asked Aoshi for help, Aoshi joined in and climbed up Raphael’s legs.

He really shouldn’t bite him...

While looking at Raphael with worried eyes, I heard a thud-thud and turned my head.

Prince Norton had fallen from the chair.

It looked like he had fallen quite painfully. Prince Norton was sitting on the floor, holding his arm, staring at Moiya.

It was a total mess.

Linel and Rosie, who had been watching Raphael and Moiya fight, introduced Moiya to Prince Norton instead of me.

“Well, that’s how it happened. Anyway, my wife is the master of that wyvern. Isn’t she great?”

Linel said to Prince Norton with a proud expression.

While Prince Norton accepted this situation, Raphael glanced at us, who were blankly watching his situation, and complained that everyone was going too far.

In the end, Raphael asked me for help.

“Your Majesty! Please, wyvern... Hey, hey, where are you holding me? Don’t you put this down?”

“There doesn’t seem to be anything here, so why are you making a fuss and making a fuss like you’ve hidden treasure?”

Moiya threw a tantrum.

Raphael pushed Moiya’s small head away, then suddenly remembered something and spoke urgently.

“I’ll give you a sausage, so just let it go, let it go!”

“Ouch? Did you hide a sausage here by any chance?”

“Phew hew...!”

I was barely holding back my laughter when Linel burst out laughing.

When he laughed, everyone started laughing freely.

Even Prince Norton, who had been serious, laughed.

“Moiya, there’s no sausage there. Put the zipper down and come here.”

When I motioned, Moiya flew towards me, but she continued to glare at Raphael.

“I’m going to find out what you hid there someday...”

Moiya clenched his fists and muttered in a determined voice.

After a few minutes of calming down, Raphael returned to his composed expression and continued his story.

“It’s a somewhat unfair rumor, but the nickname is indeed like that.”

Prince Norton seemed to have shown trust in Raphael from this point on.

“That’s why my sister thought so too. She even said, ‘It was meant to be.’ ‘It’s a little later than I thought.’ That’s what she said.”

“...Thank you, Raphael. I won’t regret the reward later.”

Prince Norton finally got up from the floor and hugged Raphael, expressing his gratitude.

“Yes, I will not decline and will look forward to it, Your Highness.”

When Raphael happily replied, Linel suddenly interrupted.

“I was the one who allowed you to use my concubine and my secretary, so why does all the credit go to Raphael?”

“I will definitely repay Your Majesty.”

“Don’t forget me either.”

I couldn’t stay still either, so I raised my hand and said.

“Of course, Your Majesty.”

“Norton, you should be the most grateful to me! I played with your pup all the time, Moiya~.”

As Moiya circled around Rams and shouted, Aoshi also started to wiggle his two front legs.

Rams looked back and forth between Moiya and Aoshi, then clapped his hands and started laughing.

Prince Norton still couldn’t believe the existence of the wyvern in front of him, and he made a curious expression every time Moiya spoke.

“Well, anyway, now that we’ve shared our secrets, let’s continue to help each other.”

Linel said as he shook hands with Prince Norton.

“Yes, Your Majesty!”

Prince Norton grabbed his hand with both of his hands.

“Raphael's sister is waiting in the carriage you came in. It’s time to say goodbye to Rams.”

The atmosphere suddenly sank at Linel’s words.

Rosie handed Rams, whom she had been holding, to Prince Norton with a face that looked like she was about to cry.

“I’m sorry we have to be apart again. You just have to take care of each other until the hunting competition is over. Yes?”

Prince Norton said, hugging Rams and closing his eyes.

Rosie’s eyes welled up with tears, but as soon as she said goodbye to Rams, she burst into tears.

“Rams, I’ll see you after the hunting competition. I’ll miss you every day. Drink your breast milk and grow well. Sob.”

Prince Norton patted Rosie’s shoulder and comforted her.

“They look like a married couple with a child.”

Linel whispered to me as he looked at the two of them.

I nodded and glanced at his face.

His eyes were filled with envy as he looked at Prince Norton holding Rams.

“Rams, you’re so pretty, right?”

I asked, lightly grabbing his arm.

“Well, just so-so. I don’t really want to have children, so I don’t know...”

He said something completely different from the emotions in his eyes right now.

“Are you serious?”

“Yes.”

His voice was firm, but Linel’s eyes were wavering.

For some reason, he was lying.

How can you not want to have a child while looking at Rams with such loving eyes?

***

We put Rams in a basket so that the other court ladies wouldn’t notice, and got on the main carriage with Linel.

The carriage arrived in front of the main palace, and we said goodbye to Rams.

However, Rams was already sleeping comfortably in Raphael’s arms.

Raphael’s sister also looked at Rams with loving eyes, perhaps because she knew he was her brother’s child.

We watched the carriage heading to Raphael’s sister’s house and entered the main palace, and climbed up the central stairs.

“What’s wrong?”

Linel suddenly stopped as he was climbing the stairs without saying a word.

“Zelda, I have something to tell you before you leave for the hunting competition tomorrow.”

His expression seemed tense for some reason.

“Yes, go ahead.”

“Let’s go to the library first.”

“At this hour... the library?”
