Run Away Form Me - Chapter 1

1. Return of the Sun

Under the hot sun of the blue sky, the soldiers, like a swarm of ants, were improving. The people cheered at the return of the black army. Here, Lu-Lavda is back!

The border conflict with Asala, which had been fought in a lukewarm manner for about 100 years over three generations, ended after three years with the appearance of Crown Prince Asherad.

A young man of twenty-three. The Emperor's son, who had not shown much distinction in the war, had made a firm impression on the people through his achievements in this war.

Daphne smiled coldly amidst the cheering crowd.

Even though she had to run away quickly, she couldn't figure out why she was standing here.

Daphne, who was hiding among the idiots who didn't even know why the soldiers were improving while wearing black clothes, looked at the one at the front.

Lu-Lavda, the god of the sun and war.

As his army won victory after victory, people began to call him that.

His appearance was not lacking, even though he dared to compare himself to the name of God.

When he took off his helmet, his shiny black hair was revealed and flowed coolly as he rode his horse.

His cool nose, visible from afar, was like a statue, and his sharp, eagle-shaped green eyes looked indifferent, sometimes looking down at people with an almost arrogant, bored gaze.

The sight of him in full plate armor seemed to indicate that he had returned in a hurry. The gleaming armor bore ominous bloodstains.

His already large body looked even more intimidating in armor. However, people seemed to be even more thrilled by that sight.

In contrast to his appearance, which seemed to contain the sun, a cloak with the emblem of the Peneus Empire fluttering on his back.

Death of Emperor Belenus.

But the new sun had firmly returned before them, and they had no sorrow for losing the sun of the empire, nor any fear of the situation wavering for the time being.

Even the knights and soldiers who were improving were full of pride without any sense of hesitation. The people welcomed Lu-Lavda, the new Emperor, from the Crown Prince, Asherad.

Daphne stared at him as if she were entranced. His eyes had become deeper, and his facial features sharper as he killed on the battlefield.

The man who had been giving off an elegant vibe was now standing at the forefront with a firm demeanor like a monarch.

There was a time when she was happy to see that sight, but now she found that sight disgusting.

I've seen your face, that's enough. There's no time left.

As she was about to turn around, she had the illusion that her eyes met the man who had been waving.

But when she looked at Asherad again, he was looking ahead and waving to his supporters.

Then her pounding heart began to beat slowly again. She was now disguised as a man. She was wearing a hat to cover her head, so there was no way he would recognize her.

Actually, there is no need to rush this urgently. Asherad will be busy dealing with the aftermath of the death of the former Emperor and taking over the throne.

What could she possibly be chasing when she was just a toy? She knew her subject too well.

In any case, she must leave the capital today. She calmly checked her luggage and got on her horse.

She left the capital where she was born and raised all her life. She left the place where she had been with her mother. She hurried without even visiting her mother’s grave. As she rode, she felt bitter for a moment, but she held on to the reins and spurred on.

***

They rode like that for a long time. The sun that was high in the sky set, and it soon became night.

Daphne's heart became anxious again after leaving the capital. She had to find a place to stay a little more quickly. Although the security would not be bad because it was near the capital, she could lose her life to bandits and wild animals.

A young woman of twenty-one would be especially good prey for bandits.

Even though her life was so miserable, she did not want to become prey to bandits, nor did she want to die.

Only after the moon had risen to its full height did Daphne arrive at the outskirts of the capital, the closest city to it.

Her body was tired. She went into the largest inn in the area, paid her money, and got a room. The innkeeper looked her up and down, frowning suspiciously, but she thought it was because she had paid in gold.

A sigh escaped Daphne's lips as she entered the room.

As she said, “I want a good room,” the room was not bad. The walls of the room, soaked in moonlight, were greenish, and the bedding was pure white. There was even a bathroom attached to the room. It was incomparably better than the room in the palace where she had stayed.

It also reminded Daphne of the nice room she had stayed in when she lived with her mother.

In the palace, she was forced to live like another mold, curled up in a place that always smelled of mold and where rats rustled on the ceiling.

But that's not the case anymore.

Feeling tired and alone, Daphne threw down her pack and took off her hat.

Then her bright golden hair flowed down to her back. She combed her hair with her hand and jumped into bed. She heard that the farther away you go from the capital, the worse the condition of the room becomes. She wondered how bad it could get.

But the more it was like that, the more the corners of her mouth went up. She was so scared of the future that she was going crazy, but Daphne had a future, a new future. She was finally free from that horrible palace.

'I wish you were free.'

The bitter man's voice repeated in her head. Daphne tried hard to forget it.

She felt a little joy and fear at the same time.

"Sarah."

Thinking back to the freckled, brown-haired girl, she felt truly grateful to her friend.

If it weren't for her, it wouldn't have been easy to escape during the Emperor's death. She thought about her days in the palace, thinking that she should send her a letter later when things were settled.

She endured those years by taking her mother's punishment in her stead. But this is the end. The Emperor is dead.

She thought of the next Emperor, Asherad. If it weren't for Asherad, she wouldn't have been able to endure that time. Sadly, that was true. But he...

Daphne squeezed her eyes shut. Even with her eyes closed, the bloody man came to mind vividly. The man covered in red blood spoke affectionately.

'My dear Daphne.'

His slow, sweet voice, so different from his cruel appearance, came to mind, and her heart sank. But much time had passed since then. In the three years that Askelad had been away on the battlefield, he might have already forgotten her.

Wasn't there any evidence of contact? When he left for the war, their relationship was cut off. In that place where death and life coexisted, she was nothing more than a tiny thing.

It would be arrogant to think that one would keep in mind such an insignificant being as the daughter of a lowly government.

She is a toy. She was Asherad's puppy.

Her mind was complicated as she thought of the man standing in a place that seemed to contain all the light in the world. She felt a strange hatred and bitterness at the same time.

Yes. There was no way that the man would remember her. She closed her eyes, calming the chill she had felt somewhere.

Daphne heard footsteps.

Daphne jumped at the sound of the footsteps. She flinched and stood up like a herbivore that heard the footsteps of a hunter. But the door was calm.

Is it not soundproof? Well, that would be expected. She approached the door. Thinking back, she hadn't locked it. That would have been a disaster. But then she heard a voice behind her.

“Are you trying to lock it now?”

It was an extremely low and husky voice. She looked back in surprise and let out a short scream. The man smiled coldly at her confusion.

The man was naked. His body was covered with scars she didn't know about, and his muscles were tightly packed. His beautiful body was glistening with moisture as if he had just come out of the shower.

Only then did Daphne realize that the footsteps she had heard were somehow wet.

Water droplets dripped from his curly black hair. As the man took a step forward, she took a step back. Her light green eyes narrowed.

"Daphne."

“Your Majesty, Your Majesty.”

"Your Majesty?"

The corners of the man's mouth went up slightly. It wasn't good. It meant that he was angry.

“How come here...”

She said, looking out the window.

“How could I not recognize you?”

“...”

“I knew where you would come from.”

That means he had already anticipated her range of actions. That's why she would have bribed the innkeeper, entered the room she was staying in, and washed up in advance...

“Why did you run away?”

“...”

"Say it."

Even though it was a gentle and soothing word, there was a sharp, murderous intent in it. It was like looking into the eyes of a beast. She swallowed hard as she looked into the man’s pale green eyes.

"Your Majesty."

“No. You have to speak clearly.”

“Asherad.”

“...”

Tears fell from Daphne's eyes. Did she really not know? He must have known why she ran away. Why did she leave the palace? Just when she couldn't open her lips, her body was pulled back, and she suddenly lost her breath.

“Hmm, uhm!”

The hot breath that escaped hit her face. Daphne opened her eyes wide and received Asherad's kiss. The red flesh squeezed inside.

It was hard to accept his kiss. She unconsciously stepped back, and her back ended up touching the wall. His thick thighs spread her legs apart. She opened her eyes wide as she felt his strong desire on her waist.

The sound of sloshing filled her ears. He, who had been sticking his lips out for a long time, pulled his lips away. Unlike her, who was panting for breath, Asherad was fine.

Asherad spoke, gently wiping Daphne's saliva-covered lips with his index finger.

“I was always drawing you.”

“...”

“Weren’t you like that?”

The glaring gaze seemed as if it would burn Daphne's face.
