KFBRV - Part 2 Chapter 38

"What are you doing, Odette?"

While the other High Priests, including the Pope, remained silent. High Priest Raphael strode forward as if he were the representative of the High Priest.

"How can you pour wine on the head of a Saint?"

Odette couldn't help but be convinced of his genius.

"You can't see my hair, High Priest. Charlotte was the one who poured water on me first. I just gave it back."

As the words resounded throughout the banquet hall, the gazes of the Pope and the High Priests turned to Odette.

Only then did he see the wet Odette and the damp veil on the floor.

"A commoner, instead of being polite to me, poured water on my head without permission. Should I, a superior, just quietly tolerate this?"

Raphael's gaze at Odette was cold.

"Is it true, Saint Charlotte?"

On the other hand, he was extremely cautious when asking Charlotte.

It was understandable why High Priest Raphael was chosen as Charlotte's chess piece.

Even after watching the resurrection play, seeing him so cold-hearted, It seems he doesn't have much fair hand is the type that only acts based on profit.

"No, no! It's unfair! High Priest Raphael. I just came over to help Lady Odette because she was wet. But then, all of a sudden. Lady Odette said to me..."

Charlotte stopped talking, her lips trembling. The expressions of several High Priests suddenly worsened.

'Wow... how many people are there? More than half. Are there this many people from High Priest Raphael?'

The Pope was ashamed that such a young and fresh-faced High Priest had so much power.

If there are that many people who are one with Raphael, this situation will probably be interpreted very one-sidedly.

The scene where Odette, who performed the resurrection play, is tormenting the Saint chosen by God!

...Well, something like that.

But it didn't really matter.

'Yeah. What do you want me to do?'

The cathedral and Odette had been on bad terms to begin with. Now, she had no desire to receive their support.

Odette sat back down in her chair at the table.

"Lady Odette. Saint Charlotte says no."

"Does that mean I'm lying?"

Raphael looked at Odette with a face that seemed like he wanted to shout 'Yes!' at any moment.

"Saint Charlotte is not a person who would lie either."

Odette was troubled.

Charlotte indeed poured water on her head, so it might be a good idea to settle the dispute through a fight.

But...

Are those High Priests really worth it?

If they're all Raphael's people anyway, they'll end up on Charlotte's side. Isn't it worth wasting time trying to win them over to her side?

In that case, it would be better to use these people as an audience and properly feed Charlotte.

Odette burst into laughter at the thought.

"It's funny. People who are High Priests like to take sides so much."

When Odette said that, Raphael's expression hardened, and Odette lightly crossed her arms.

"Then, as Charlotte said, let's say I suddenly poured wine on Charlotte's head. What would change then?"

"...Yes?"

"I am only educating my successor. Can the High Priest question my actions?"

Everyone was taken aback by those words.

'As a purifier, I am of a higher rank. I am also a noble. Is it a big deal if I pour some wine on her head for educational purposes?'

Whether Charlotte was at fault or not, she was going to blatantly use force to harass her.

Everyone seemed speechless, perhaps because they had not expected her to act so shamelessly.

"Even if Lady Odette is a noblewoman, isn't that too much?"

Raphael raised his voice.

"Even if I go too far, isn't that not a matter for the High Priest to interfere with?"

"..."

"I didn't know. That the High Priests had a duty to protect the Saint."

No one in the cathedral, including Raphael, could refute Odette's sarcastic words.

It was the cathedral that Odette had neglected for three years, no matter what insults it received. How could he now claim that he had a duty to protect Charlotte?

Charlotte smiled at first when Raphael appeared, but the smile gradually disappeared from her face.

Well, politics is only meaningful when the opponent is affected.

'What good will it do to receive support from the High Priests? I don't want it, so you take as much as you want.'

It seemed like he wasn't happy with her attitude.

"Still, it's fortunate that the High Priests came. I was just about to receive a public apology from Charlotte."

That damn priest was the type of person who wouldn't apologize even if he died if there was no audience.

Charlotte's shoulders flinched at the word 'apology. Then Raphael stepped forward again.

"Lady Odette. We all know that you are a noble and a Saint. But even so, how can you expect an apology from someone who did nothing wrong? Isn't that nothing more than bullying?!"

"Charlotte did nothing wrong. High Priest Raphael, can you take responsibility for that?"

Raphael frowned and argued back.

"Forcing something out is just bullying!"

"I never sent Charlotte to the Empire. She has been selling my name. Charlotte herself, and the Cathedral."

"...That, that."

"My name is not cheap. Charlotte sold my name so loudly, and the cathedral agreed..."

"..."

"Is this a mistake that was forced upon me?"

Finally, Raphael completely shut his mouth.

It was thanks to everyone here that Charlotte knew how much she had sold Odette's name over the past two years.

She also managed to gain some fame by doing that.

But since the person involved said.

"That never happened; this could not be called a forced excuse."

"So, Charlotte, you must apologize to me on behalf of the cathedral."

Charlotte's expression turned pale.
