KFBRV - Part 2 Chapter 29

'Ha, but how? Whether it's a river or the sea... the only thing that can make the waves shine is a miracle that happens during awakening?'

Charlotte has studied the Purifier very thoroughly. The Purifier does not have the ability to make water glow outside of the moment of awakening.

'Where on earth is Odette?'

Charlotte looked around busily. She was sure that Odette was definitely watching the scene around here.

'Is she hidden among the believers? Or on the roof of the cathedral?'

Even though she didn't know what Odette was trying to do, Charlotte had an uneasy instinct that she had to find her before it happened.

Charlotte searched diligently, but she could not find Odette anywhere: among the congregation, on the roof of the cathedral, or anywhere on the ground.

***

The mouth of the Rothbart River. The water boundary is where the sea and the river meet.

Underneath the water, Odette was riding on the back of a dolphin, Iooking up at the noisy night sky.

'I never imagined I would receive this many condolences in the first place.'

Odette thought everyone would be happy when she died, just like in her last life, everyone had toasted her after her death.

So at first, she was just planning to return normally as soon as she was done preparing for revenge.

Even if Odette were to return, people would only feel unpleasantness.

But Karin shook her head.

"No, Odette. What people will feel is betrayal."

...Betrayal?

Isn't that the feeling you get when you get hurt by someone you trust? What kind of betrayal does an imperial citizen who never trusted or liked Odette feel now? When they has always hated her?

It was difficult to understand, but Karin insisted anyway.

"Odette. If what you say is true, Charlotte is good at manipulating of her people's emotions? Then the betrayal the people of the Empire feel towards you will be their greatest weapon against you."

Yet, Odette was willing to accept their betrayal as well. She couldn't remain officially dead forever, because she was afraid of betrayal.

But Karin pleaded,

"If you just go back like that, Odette, you'll be blamed."

"It's okay. I can handle it."

"Me seeing you being hated? I'm not okay at all. It hurts me to see people hating you. So at least for my sake. Yes?"

After hearing such pleas, Odette couldn't help but insist that she would gladly accept the feeling of betrayal.

What's more, Karin came up with a great alternative.

"....How about making it so that you are resurrected instead?"

Karin, who had made that suggestion, read a passage from the Book of Revelation.

It was an idea that was possible for her because she had studied all the Bible verses, including the Book of Revelation, which is read with great care by fanatics.

"Behold, He comes with the little ones. The sky will shine, the sea will shine, and the only Savior will rise on earth."

The cathedral's loud 'Victory Day' advertisements, which touted the 'biggest day ever', were a huge help in preparing for the resurrection, as they provided detailed information about when the fireworks would be the highlight.

However, it is somewhat embarrassing to say that the sky is lit up with just fireworks. However, when dozens of fireworks explode at the same time, it can make the entire sky look like it is lit up.

That's why Odette waited. The highlight of the fireworks that the cathedral was so proud of. The moment when the huge fireworks exploded simultaneously, making the sky itself seem to light up.

Pupupupu! Pupupu! Pupupupupu!

And then the moment finally came. Odette looked back.

"Hey guys."

The place where Odette was was the border between the river and the sea. Therefore, just by looking back from that spot, Odette could see the sea beyond the border.

There, lined up were schools of deep-sea fish that Odette had brought.

There were deep-sea fish that had hanging lantern-like lights, and there were also deep-sea fish whose entire bodies shone like jewels.

These were fish that learned how to glow on their own, living in a dark place where there was no light at all.

"Now is the time."

As Odette signaled to them, they swam up to the surface of the sea, their luminous bodies shining brightest.

The deep-sea fish appeared to remain vibrant even though they had risen to the surface of the shallow sea.

'It's like a dream even when I see it with my own eyes.'

Just as Odette could breathe naturally under the sea, other sea creatures seemed to feel no discomfort around her no matter how much their environment changed.

At moments like these, it seemed as if the sea was speaking to her. I am on your side, Odette. I will always support you.

And at moments like this...

'Ah. This feeling again...'

She felt a connection between her soul and the sea creatures that followed her instructions.

At such times, Odette felt as if she had become a part of the sea, the source of all life and the infinite mystery itself.

The deep sea fish also felt a spiritual connection with Odette and began to move as she wished without her saying anything else.

So that the sea and rivers can shine more brilliantly than that noisy sky.

"What the heck? Why is the sea shining?"

As the people murmured, the whales deep beneath the surface began to squeak. They seemed to realize that since their souls were connected with Odette's, it was their turn to step forward.

Odette stood on the back of the largest whale, away from the dolphins. Then the whale began to slowly rise to the surface, being careful not to shake or fall over Odette.

The corpse in the tomb was already removed using the status window.

'So... it won't be easy to doubt the fact that I was resurrected. And even if you do doubt it, there won't be any evidence.'

Odette felt her body slowly rising above the surface.

'Status window. Return me to my original form.'

"Over there! Look over there!"

Several imperial citizens who discovered this whole scene were looking at Odette with surprised faces.

Odette put on a calm expression. Then she continued her shameless act by stepping on the backs of each whale.

To the people's eyes, Odette appeared as if she were walking on shining water.

***

The cathedral has lost a lot of public support.

So, if they were to come and wait in front of the cathedral on 'Victory Day', they must have been very religious people in Barceha.

This means that they are devout believers who, with their faith alone, hold silent prayers all day long outside the cathedral gates, which they cannot enter, during the entire memorial service. Some of them could be called fanatics.

So it was not surprising that several people who were looking at the shining sea simultaneously recalled a passage from the Book of Revelation.

The scene unfolding before their eyes was exactly as described in the Book of Revelation.

"Look! He is coming with little creatures..."

One of the believers shouted out a phrase that came to his mind in a booming voice.

Charlotte, who was looking around the congregation for Odette's whereabouts, flinched.

A passage whose content is absurd and baseless, and is now considered a verse of the Bible that even priests only approach as a theory and never believe in.

'That's a passage from the Book of Revelation.'

'The latter part is clear-...'

At that moment, Charlotte's eyes widened as if she realized something. It was because she realized what Odette was after.

"The sky will shine, the sea will shine, the only savior will rise on earth..."
