IWAEBS - Chapter 105 < A Chance for Revenge >

“What is it, Your Majesty? What is wrong with you?”

“Haa, don’t stare like that... Wake up. I told you to wake up? Hurry up.”

“While you’re at it, why don’t you just put your legs in quickly, hurry up?”

I continued to kneel on one knee and patted his bare leg with my hand as I spoke. This time, he pretended not to be able to resist and put his legs into his pants one by one.

"Wait! I'll do the pulling. I've got to do it!“

Oh, surprise. Linel grabbed my hands that were pulling up his pants to mid-thigh and suddenly raised his voice.

“Would you like to do that?”

I obediently took both hands out of his pants and took a step back.

“Zelda, what are you going to do if you’re staring at me so blatantly while I’m putting my zipper up? Are you going to the training grounds now or not?”

“Ah... was that what I was looking at?”

I was wondering if I would have a chance to ask Prince Norton about Rams at the training ground, and if not, when we could meet and talk about it separately. I was completely unaware that I was looking at his important parts. Why did I look at that place and worry... I reflected to myself, and as I lowered my head without realizing it, my eyes met his. This time, I had moved my gaze consciously, so there was no room for excuses. So there was nothing to feel wronged about.

“Yeah, it was that exciting look in your eyes just now.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I was just thinking about something else for a moment.”

So, earlier.

“That... isn’t that what you were thinking?”

“No, that’s not what I was thinking. Let’s go, before everyone else goes back.”

Judging from the expression on his face, with his lips pursed, I could tell he didn't believe me at all, but I ignored him and took his hand as I walked to the bedroom door. He followed me obediently, leading me by the hand, and then suddenly stopped.

"Why?"

“Keep your promise. You’ll know when you get back, right?”

Linel pointed to the bathroom door with his finger and asked for confirmation.

"Sure."

I answered right away. I was already prepared.

“Should I have told you in advance? I just wanted to see the cat for a bit.”

Melanie went to Rosie's quarters to see Aoshi, but was turned away at the bedroom door and had to return to her palace.

“That kitten was really cute.”

Melanie's attendant, Hedden, recalled seeing Aoshi the other day when Melanie and Rosie had a picnic by the lake.

“I don’t know if it’s cute, but I think it would be fun to play with.”

“What is it?”

“There was quite a bit of rebellion in his eyes.”

Melanie, who couldn't know that Moiya was Aoshi's doppelganger, laughed as she recalled the day they went on a picnic, when Aoshi would flirt with Rosie whenever she said something.

“Really? I just think it looks cute.”

“Besides, that little thing seemed to admire me.”

“A cat...?”

Hedden asked with a look of 'Oh, no way?', but Melanie's mind was firm.

“Even though it’s a cat, it has eyes that see people. It was like it had eyes that liked me.”

“Oh, yes....”

Although it was a servant's duty to obey the master's orders without question, Hedden was sometimes afraid that someone would hear Melanie's words like a six-year-old.

“Should I go back now and ask to borrow just the cat?”

Melanie, who couldn't bear to just go back to her residence, kept looking back at Rosie's palace. Hedden stopped her by grabbing her arm.

“I think it would be best for you to come back in a few days since Her Highness Rose has a cold.”

“Yeah, I let it go! But when I saw her at the banquet hall, she looked perfectly fine. Why did she suddenly catch a cold?”

Melanie said in a puzzled tone, giving up on Aoshi and turning away again.

“Isn’t it possible that she's physically weak because he always reads books?”

“Yeah. When I see her dancing, it really looks like she's never been to a party before.”

“Why? How did you like Her Highness Rosie’s dance?

“She was just flapping her arms like a bird, and he was also dancing with her feet moving back and forth alternately. Something like that?”

Melanie imitated Rosie's dance, which she had been dancing alone in a corner of the banquet hall, quite closely, the dance that wyverns do when they woo them.

“Phew... hahaha!”

Hedden tried to hold back her laughter, but eventually she burst out laughing.

“Your Highness, you can’t do this here.”

The laughter could not be stopped, but the bizarre imitation of her master's dance had to be stopped. If anyone passing by the West Palace garden path saw Melanie dancing, it would be a disgrace to her family's honor. Melanie stopped dancing as Hedden desperately tried to stop her, looking around the garden.

“Why? Her Highness Rosie always dances so well at banquet halls.”

“Maybe he had a lot to drink?”

“I don’t know. But she looked really happy. I was going to go and dance with her, but she seemed to be working, so I didn’t bother her.”

Melanie smiled meaningfully.

“What kind of work is it?”

“The work of seduction.”

“To whom? Are you saying that she just danced that dance to His Majesty?”

Hedden sighed, covering her face with both hands.

“Except His Majesty.”

"Sure?"

Melanie whispered in Hedden's ear.

“Yes, there is someone that Her Highness Rosie has a crush on.”

“How does Your Highness know that?”

“I’m very perceptive. I noticed it right from the lakeside.”

“By the lakeside... are you talking about the Prince of the Pasha Empire that we met back then?”

Because the only man on the lakeshore was Prince Norton.

“Shh. Be quiet, Hedden. It’s not right to reveal other people’s secrets so carelessly.”

Hedden nodded to her master, who had just revealed a secret to her, with her mouth tightly shut.

“Hey, Your Highness. Look over there.”

Hedden pointed somewhere with his finger.

“Isn’t that Catherine?”

Melanie frowned.

“It looks like she's out for a night walk?”

“Huh, the nights must be long. His Majesty doesn’t even set foot near Catherine’s quarters. He hasn’t even visited her bedroom like I have.”

“Yes, Her Majesty the Empress also came to visit...”

Hedden said as if talking to herself.

“Catherine will be lonely. She doesn’t have any friends at the palace like I do.”

Melanie crossed her arms in front of her and swaggered. She seemed to think of Rosie as a friend. There was something to be said about that, but Hedden remained silent.

“Oh, by the way, I have news to tell Catherine!”

As if something she had forgotten had occurred to her, Melanie lifted the hem of her dress and walked quickly towards Catherine.

“Huh. Your Highness, Your Highness! I don’t think you should say that...!”

Hedden realized what Melanie was trying to say to Catherine and hurriedly ran after her to stop her.

***

We arrived at the training grounds on horseback with Linel.

“Why are they so quiet? Have they already had a game?”

He let me down from my horse and looked up at the training grounds. The inside of the training grounds was brightly lit, but as he said, there was no sound inside.

“Well, the lights are still on, so I guess it’s not yet time for the showdown?”

“That could be the case.”

We went straight inside.

“I think he’s already gone?”

The training ground was empty.

“Looking at the lack of empty spots on the weapons display, it doesn’t seem like they went somewhere else... or maybe no one has come yet.”

“Hmm, is that so?”

Linel and I slowly looked around the training grounds.

“Huh? Did you just hear that?”

"What?"

“I thought I heard laughter...”

As soon as I finished speaking, faint laughter was heard from somewhere again.

“Can you hear this sound now?”

“Ahh... I see you’re there.”

Linel snorted and muttered quietly.

“Where?”

“The place where we were kicked out because of Macrom’s interference while we were making love.”

“Are you saying that the two of them are in the warehouse right now?”

The moment he nodded, the two people's laughter was heard again. As Linel said, the sound seemed to come from the warehouse. Why did Prince Norton and Commander Macrom go into the warehouse? Linel was already suspicious of something strange between the two, and now the situation was perfect for a misunderstanding. Whenever we come to the training ground, something always goes strangely wrong.

“Zelda, your chance has finally come.”

He said in a grave voice.

“What kind of opportunity is this all of a sudden?”

“A chance for revenge!”

“...”

Linel began to stride towards the warehouse.

I followed him quietly and asked.

“Why are those two people going into the warehouse... and laughing?”

“Zelda, why did we go into the warehouse back then? Why did you ask such an obvious question?”

He said it with a serious expression. I knew it was nonsense, but as the circumstances strangely coincided, I began to have more and more strange thoughts.

“Poor Rosie.”

Linel said, clicking his tongue.

“The man who finally confessed his love to her after getting lovesick is sitting in the warehouse with another eoman... no, another man, laughing secretly like that. Oh, he might be lying down and laughing.”

“...I told you. I told you that it might be a misunderstanding.”

It was a very slim chance, but just in case, I grabbed his arm.

“I think it would be better to just go today.”

“We came this far, so should we just leave?”

“Don’t you think that’s what it should be?”

“No, no.”

He was resolute.

“Those two people must have a critical moment, just like when we were interrupted by Macrom.”

I smiled at him with a smile of conversion. On the other hand, I was curious. Why on earth were two strong men in this narrow, dark warehouse when there was this wide training ground? Half worried, half curious, I couldn't resist, so I led him by the hand and walked with him to the warehouse door. However, when I heard the conversation between the two men coming out of the warehouse, I wanted to turn around right away.

“Norton, you’re really strong. Haa, I can’t handle it.”

“Commander Macrom also has a high drinking capacity. I think I’ll have to drink a bit tonight...”

The two seemed to be drinking in the warehouse. However, the strange thing was that Prince Norton was speaking to Commander Macrom in a high-pitched tone, and the Commander was speaking to Norton in a low-pitched tone. Given their status, the two were not in a position to have such a conversation. No, wouldn’t such a conversation be possible if they were lovers?

I looked up at Linel with my mouth wide open. Linel’s expression was already stiff. He had been shouting that he would take revenge on Commander Macrom, but he seemed very embarrassed after overhearing their conversation.

“Just go.”

As I spoke with my lips, he hesitated and tried to turn around,

“The warehouse is cozy and has its own atmosphere.”

Prince Norton's voice was heard again.

“Really? So, our Majesty used it too...?”

When Commander Macrom mentioned Linel with a hearty laugh, Prince Norton immediately asked back in a curious voice.

“Does His Majesty also enjoy visiting this warehouse?”

“I don’t know what he likes to do, but I saw him here a while ago.”

“I see, but what is His Majesty doing here alone?”

In response to Prince Norton's question, Commander Macrom lowered his voice.

“What about alone? He was with Her Majesty the Empress.”

“Huh? No, why are you two in a place like this? Hahaha.”

“Why? It’s because of the overflowing passion of our Majesty, regardless of the place, that Her Majesty the Empress had no choice but to follow the rhythm...”

As Commander Macrom continued to talk about Linel, he suddenly opened the warehouse door.
