CYSWTF - Chapter 35 < Her Highness the Princess' Tea Party (1) >

It was already morning, but the head maid did not call me. Since I had passed both the written and practical tests, it was Her Highness the Princess's turn to accept me if she could not come up with another excuse.

While Her Highness was thinking about that, I thought I could spend the day leisurely.

I packed a few things and went straight to the backyard, and I found Lord Rond sitting like a rock in the same spot as yesterday.

"Lord Rond!"

He frowned as if an annoying bug had flown in.

It wasn't pleasant, but it was true that I was annoying him as much as the bug, and I planned to continue annoying him in the future, so I decided not to take it to heart.

"Her Highness, what was she doing?"

"..."

"Yes. Me too. I'm going to rest a bit today."

I started talking to myself, so Lord Rond opened his mouth as if he had given up on the expectation that I would disappear on my own.

"There will be a tea party in a little while."

Lord Rond seemed to want to send me there, but why work when I could rest?

I said, taking out the small bottle I had brought.

“Really? Then shall we drink something?”

Lord Rond looked at me as if he was in awe and took the cup. After tasting a little, he unexpectedly liked it, and from then on he started to sip.

The sight of him sipping a small teacup with his large, rock-like body was unexpectedly cute.

I poured him some tea and drank some myself. Sitting in the back garden and drinking warm tea, I couldn’t feel happier.

“Did you say hello to Her Highness the Princess?”

“No. What about saying hello? The head maid will probably be looking for an excuse to kick me out today. I even passed the etiquette test yesterday.”

“Who recommended you, young lady?”

“I guess he's the First Prince.”

“That kind of.”

“‘That kind of’? What does that mean?”

“It means that it will be difficult for you to leave the palace for the time being.”

“Ah. Yes.”

I didn’t know whether to like it or not.

“I brewed it, but the tea tastes really good.”

“Hmm.”

“But what happened to you, Sir...”

At that moment, we simultaneously spotted the maid looking around for someone.

“I guess I should go now.”

Sir Rond got up again, stirring up the wind.

However, the maid who found us called me instead of him.

“Miss Loire, Her Highness is calling.”

I saw deep and sharp disappointment flash in Sir Rond’s eyes. I quickly took the vial out of my bosom, placed it on the bench, and followed the maid.

“Sir Rond, mix this with water and drink only one glass a day.”

The maid, whose brown hair was neatly braided, led me into the Princess’s palace at a brisk pace. What was the hurry?

“I’m Lorisha. And you?”

“I’m Eria. Miss Loire.”

She answered mechanically, not wanting to talk to me any further.

When we stopped in front of Her Highness’s reception room, Eria spoke low and quickly.

“Do you know how to greet the Princess? When she looks at you or speaks to you, then you should be polite.”

I know. I know.

I stood in front of the door, very nervous. Finally, I was entering the space of Princess Miliora.

The door opened, and I walked into the reception room, inwardly admiring it.

The interior, decorated with ivory frames and gold borders, was dazzling regardless of the lighting.

The ladies in beautiful dresses sitting side by side on the antique red floral sofa looked like large flowers.

And in the center of them all sat Princess Miliora Tagar, the Princess of the empire.

Straight silver hair that reached down to her waist and pale, perfect skin. Her small, concave face had unusually large, bright green eyes. Although she was not short, her frame was small, so she looked like a living doll. She was pretty.

That was my first impression of Princess Miliora.

As I approached the sofa to greet her, the ladies who were drinking tea with elegant gestures all turned to me. There was quite a bit of tension in that small silence.

However, Her Highness the Princess was putting dessert in her mouth with an indifferent gesture as if she couldn’t see me.

“Isn’t this really delicious?”

Then the woman sitting next to Her Highness the Princess quickly replied.

“It’s the best, Your Highness, the Princess. Sometimes I think of these macarons before I go to bed.”

“Oh, Miss Caryl? Me too.”

“Me too. Hahaha.”

The women all burst into laughter, and with that, my presence was erased from the room.

I was preparing to draw my sword like a knight about to fight.

But suddenly, I became invisible, and the Princess continued to have a meaningless conversation and laugh with the young ladies.

'What the heck...'

I had a feeling that Her Highness Milliora had decided to harass me since she failed to get me off. She wanted to humiliate me with such ignorance so that I would run away crying.

'What should I do... I'm not going out.'

I suppressed my embarrassment and glanced around the room. The Princess might become even more cruel when she realized that I wouldn't be able to do anything like this.

The reason why all the things in this room were shiny and new was not because she was extravagant. She kept breaking things, so there were always new things.

So it wouldn't have been strange if she had thrown a plateful of macarons at me.

In fact, I was a little excited. I wondered what kind of face she would make if I ate the macarons that had been thrown at me.

Those macarons looked really delicious.

While I was thinking this, the ladies of the tea party exchanged glances and giggled.

I kept my mouth shut, muttering to myself that I shouldn’t speak to the royal family first. I held on to the hem of my skirt that I had gently grabbed to be polite.

A woman named Keryl spoke to Her Highness.

“My father brought me some darif tea from across the sea. Can I offer it to Your Highness?”

“Very well. I like darif too. It goes well with macarons. Right?”

“Your Highness has refined tastes, after all.”

“I don’t like flattery, Keryl.”

“Oh my! I only tell the truth. Isn’t that right, everyone?”

“Of course. Miss Keril always tells the truth, Your Highness.”

The tea party was so lively and cheerful that one of the women, who was laughing at the same time, dropped a macaroon. It rolled across the floor and stopped when it hit the hem of my skirt.

I absentmindedly tried to pick it up and put it away, but stopped moving. My eyes met hers.

'Now, are you going to tell the invisible man to pick it up?'

She looked back and forth between me and Her Highness in confusion, then called the maid outside.

"Are you outside?"

She said as Eria ran in.

"I spilled a macaron. Can you clean it up? It would be a big deal if Her Highness steps on it later."

"Yes."

Eria quickly searched the floor and was startled when she found a macaron in front of my skirt hem. That's because I was glaring at it.

Meanwhile, Princess Miliora sat down drinking tea, turning her body away from Eria and me.

Eria approached me hesitantly, and I held out the macaron to her before she did.

Then I spoke loudly.

"Lorisia Loire greets Princess Miliora, the little moon of Tagar. Eternal light to Tagar."

The surprised tea party guests all looked astonished. Her Highness the Princess stretched out her thin, pale fingers and lifted her teacup in the silence.

She made a very small, uncomfortable sound of “ahem.”

Then, Baron Lishen’s Keryl spoke as if I were listening. She still turned away from me as if I were invisible or some kind of filth.

“Speaking to the royal family without asking permission. You are so shameless. You are truly an illegitimate child!”

“Oh my!”

“To see something like this in the sacred palace!”

The tea party ladies fanned themselves with their hands as if they had been defiled just by hearing my voice.

There is quite a variety of expressions that can be used in such situations. They are mainly vivid expressions that include words related to “eyes” or bodily harm.

However, I just watched them silently. As an adult, I gained some self-control and the ability to observe the situation.

I was at a crossroads. Either become a lowly illegitimate child who has been rude to the royal family, or become a crazy maid who has been rude to the royal family.

Suddenly, the thought crossed my mind that it might be an occupational hazard for Prince Kydel to be called a crazy person by His Highness the Second Prince.

Of course, it’s unlikely that his situation was the same as mine.

When I smiled brightly and looked straight at Keryl, she opened her mouth in surprise. It was because my reaction was unexpected.

Keryl Lishen, you’ve never seen such a shameless illegitimate child before. It’s because of the blood that flows through me.

Half of my blood is lion.

I said politely.

“Forgive my rudeness. Eria, make sure nothing is lacking in refreshments and fill them up.”

I bowed deeply in apology and stood in front of the wall. I was in a posture that showed my determination to immediately execute the order of Her Highness the Princess. As I moved away from the sofa, the young ladies looked at each other and kept saying, "Ha!" I glanced at her as I turned around, but Her Highness the Princess's eyes were so angry that her silver hair looked cold.

In the meantime, Eria scanned the table with her eyes and left with a frightened face. Since she had just had the refreshments, nothing was lacking.

Keryl, who was shaking with anger, opened the door.
