CYSWTF - Chapter 22 < Wake me up for two days, Locard >

“Why am I doing this? Director Royman.”

“I’m sorry, Your Highness. I’m sorry!”

“No, I’m not blaming you. I’m saying this because my body is going crazy.”

“Are you taking the medicine prescribed by the hospital?”

“The vomiting has stopped. But I feel like my body is not my own. At least it wasn’t like this when the director burned the herbs.”

“I can’t perform the procedure anymore, Your Highness.”

Grayon stretched out his body with difficulty. That’s when Locard came to visit.

After Whined left, Locard came over and sat down in front of Grayon, who was slumped over. Grayon’s condition was so bad that it was hard to even joke around.

“Are you having a hard time?”

“Locard.”

“Please speak.”

“I had an accident.”

Locard’s voice was soft and affectionate.

“With this body?”

“I told His Majesty that I would attend the hunting party.”

Locard leaned back, drooling. He didn’t bother to hide his stiff face.

“His Majesty called me to dinner and said that there would be a hunting party. His Highness, my brother, tried to leave me out as if it was natural. He said, ‘Don’t you need to rest more, Grayon?’”

Grayon couldn’t stand being ignored, and the First Prince hit him right on the head.

However, if he didn’t show his fighting spirit as a victorious commander at the hunting party, word would start to spread.

The Second Prince’s injury was serious. The war might have ruined him.

Locard tried to joke.

“So you said, ‘No, Your Highness?’?”

“I told him that I was going to catch a fox and rest after that because my body was so sore from hunting so long ago.”

“The aftereffects are severe, but if you receive Director Royman’s treatment that morning...”

“I’ll spend the night in the Imperial Forest. I grind my teeth at the thought of spending the night, but I still play at the palace.”

Whether the First Prince was trying to catch a fox or his younger brother, this was a trap.

“...”

“So wake me up healthy for just two days. Locard.”

Locard bent his upper body and grabbed his hair with both hands, then combed his hair with his fingers and stood up.

They were a community of shared destiny. When one became weak, the other had to become stronger.

“If that doesn’t work out, I’ll break your legs.”

“...Your loyalty makes me cry. But I hope you find a clever way.”

Solving an unidentified disease that even the Imperial Medical Center couldn’t solve in a few days.

As he left the bedroom, Locard wondered if his father had also overcome such trials and kept his place as the first lion. However, it was true that something like this had happened.

However, no matter what the answer was, this was his trial, and it was only the beginning.

He went straight to Whined's lab and said with his eyes wide open,

“Director. The Second Prince should recover within a few days, what should we do?”

Whined, who had been living in the palace for a long time, immediately understood the threat or pressure of Prince Kydel.

Whined quietly got up and returned holding a glass jar covered with a cloth.

He answered Locard’s suspicious gaze with a simple smile,

“This is His Highness’s vomit. Would you like to see it?”

Locard quickly grabbed Whined's wrist as he was trying to remove the cloth.

“No, no need... It’s okay, Director.”

“Hmm. I think it would be helpful if you saw it for yourself.”

Locard tried to gauge whether Whined was serious or trying to make fun of him for making an impossible claim. However, Whined was not that kind of weakling.

Locard let go and Whined removed the cloth. He shook the glass jar slightly and saw a white thread floating among the undigested food chunks. It was alive and swimming.

“It’s a parasite.”

“Ha...!”

“It’s a type not seen in Imperials. It must be from the Amata tribe. It seems like my treatment made them angry. They are suppressed during the treatment, but when the effect wears off, they become even more angry.”

“Oh my.”

“They probably felt threatened by external stimuli and their reproduction rate increased. That’s why YHis Highness’s condition has deteriorated so rapidly now.”

It was a disgusting story, but Locard thought it was hopeful news.

“Now that we know the cause, we can find a solution soon, right?”

“The solution to parasitic infection is clear, but it will only take a few days... We are currently testing the Imperial medicine one by one, but it isn’t working. It would be best to hand it over to the medical center. If we get several people together to discuss it...”

Locard shook his head firmly.

The imperial doctors were those brought by the Empress. He had been wondering whether the imperial hospital could not treat the Second Prince or was not treating him.

Furthermore, the Second Prince, a war hero, was infected with parasites, a joke that would be made fun of until his death.

However, the little sun should never be made fun of. Who would fear someone who was tormented by bugs as a future Emperor?

After a moment of silence, Whined said without any certainty.

“Can you let me enter the imperial library? There might be records there. I know what I need to find now.”

“Please wait a moment.”

Locard got up immediately.

The imperial library was for the exclusive use of the imperial family. Whined waited for Locard to return, as he had gone to get permission to enter there.

However, he was headed not to the Second Prince’s palace, but outside the palace. He rode his horse straight to the streets of Valois.

***

I heard a horse stop in front of the store, but I was getting ready to leave, so I tried to hand the customer over to another clerk.

My leaving was important.

But the clerk who had gone out to the entrance came back and called me.

“The customer is looking for a blonde clerk?”

I smiled and went out, thinking that I had a customer worthy of being called when a man wearing a cloak turned upside down approached me on a horse.

“Miss Loire.”

“...Your Excellency?”

When he lifted his hood a little, I thought my heart stopped.

Prince Kydel? Where the hell does this guy think he is!

I quickly went out onto the street and got him out of the store.

“What on earth are you doing here...”

“Let’s talk on the way out.”

Before I could finish speaking, I was dragged by my wrist and was riding behind him.

What? What are you doing...? Kidnapping, right? Or not? Am I going to be arrested for using a false name when I enter the palace?

I shouted urgently.

“Sir? I thought I said that was my child's name! I thought we were supposed to let it slide! Are you going to yell at me? Argh! Argh! See?”

But he didn’t answer. When I noticed his ominousness, he finally said,

“If you confess to that letter now, I might let you off.”

I probably had never thought so quickly in my short life. I decided that I had to get away with it even in this urgent situation.

“I told you I didn’t know what you were talking about since last time!”

“Tsk!”

Prince Kydel clicked his tongue as if to say,

“What a waste!”

“If you don’t have work, come and help me. It’s important work.”

“Ha, really! Don’t you know that you kidnapped someone you were working with just now? The old man is so sensitive about attendance!”

“I’ll compensate you.”

Because I was holding his back, I could feel his warm body temperature and tension. It was clear that he needed help right now.

Anyway, even though he was riding like a madman, his wide back made him feel very stable.

“...What compensation?”

“You’ll know when you get there. You won’t regret it.”

“...”

I decided to quietly be kidnapped. I was being dragged away anyway, so it would be better to just sit there and demand the reward he mentioned later. I wouldn’t be upset if it was a reward from someone as great as Prince Kydel. Only then did I realize how greedy I was. Judging from the way my heart had been beating so fast since earlier, I could tell.

However, when Prince Kydel stopped his horse in front of the back gate of the palace, I almost had a heart attack.

Why did he have to bring me to the palace!

Prince Kydel got off his horse first and held my waist as if to let me down, but I shook my head and refused.

“Why? What are you doing here?”

As I grabbed the reins and prepared to run away, Prince Kydel quickly snatched them away as if he was sorry. How can you not ride a horse when you can drive a carriage?

“I’ll pretend not to know about the attendance list. And your unladylike behavior that night. Is that okay?”

Hmm. Not bad.

“And that malicious letter.”

It’s a trap!

If I agree here, it means I am admitting that I wrote it.

“If you keep saying weird things, I will really go!”

Then Prince Kydel shut his mouth tightly. Only then did I dismount from my horse in silence.

Prince Kydel took off his cloak and put it on me, then led me to the side gate of the Third Palace. A faint scent wafted from inside the hood.

I felt unnecessarily nervous, wearing someone else’s clothes and smelling someone else’s body odor.

What a person who makes people uncomfortable in so many ways.

He didn’t leave a list. A privileged person who passed through the palace gates without revealing his identity by just his face. Prince Kydel was such a person.

I followed him and gathered my wits once more. If I lost my wits about entering the palace and he barged in, it would be a big deal. It seemed like he wouldn’t give up on the letter work easily.

We walked along the dark hallway for a while. When I turned a corner, a man was waiting. I recognized him right away. We looked at each other and were both surprised.

“Director Royman?”

“Miss Loba?”

“...!”
