INAS - Chapter 95

“Please enter, Your Ladyship.”

The servant who had left me standing in front of the office asked about the Crown Prince's intentions and returned, opened the door with a smile.

I bowed briefly in gratitude and went inside, where the Crown Prince rose from his desk to greet me.

“I think this is the first time the Princess has come to see me without me calling you. Is something wrong?”

“Yes, I have something to tell you. But why are there so many documents?”

I opened my mouth wide when I saw the pile of papers on his desk.

As a Princess, I was in charge of all the work of the Duke's household, so I didn't even blink at the amount of work that was involved, but I couldn't help but be surprised when I saw the mountain of documents that had piled up.

But the Crown Prince just shrugged his shoulders with an indifferent expression.

“These are audit reports from orphanages and monasteries that came in from all over the place.”

“An orphanage and a monastery?”

“Didn’t you promise the believers when you destroyed the Ibis Church’s hideout last time? You wouldn’t let them suffer again. You have to keep that promise.”

“Oh. Right, that’s right.”

Although it was a heresy, he made a firm promise to those who were anxious about leaving the place that had been a strong windbreak and returning to the harsh environment of the past.

I will be so grateful that they will never suffer again.

However, after returning to the capital, I completely forgot about it for various reasons, but it seems the Crown Prince remembered it.

'Is this the difference between royalty and nobility?'

I was feeling a sense of awe and was staring at the floor when the Crown Prince sat down on the sofa and asked.

“So what do you want to say? If you come all the way here on a holiday, it must be something serious.”

“Well, it’s not an ordinary thing.”

I sat down across from him with a sigh and began to tell him about the holy powers of my body that I had heard from the Pope and the Marquis of Bayen.

The Crown Prince, who had been quietly listening to me, opened his eyes in surprise.

“Are you really saying that your body has holy power?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

When I answered blankly, as if I was still dazed, the Crown Prince let out a sigh and leaned back against the chair.

The slightly open mouth expression that didn't answer seemed just like Delton's reaction, so I was a little annoyed, but I didn't show it.

His shock was natural, considering what I had done.

So instead of unconscionably tackling him, I quickly moved on to the next topic.

“That’s not important right now. What we really need to worry about is what comes next.”

“Next? What else is there?”

“Yes, it’s not exact yet, it’s just my guess.”

The Crown Prince closed his mouth, which had been open for a moment, and slightly moved his chin.

Even though I was being gestured to speak quickly, I hesitated and finally opened my mouth after a long time.

“That’s... It seems like there’s something wrong with the goddess.”

“What do you mean, a problem?”

“Um, that’s right...”

I told him everything I had said to the Marquis of Bayen.

The Crown Prince's face hardened seriously.

“He says he doesn’t know, but his expression when I asked him was like that, and it doesn’t make sense at all. I think the Goddess must have a problem that he can’t tell us And that’s probably...”

“Do you think this has something to do with someone called Ibis?”

“Yes, of course. There is no evidence and this is purely my guess.”

He was silent for a moment after hearing what I said, then opened his mouth again.

“According to what His Majesty said yesterday, the royal family and the temple are working together to track him down. However, it doesn’t seem easy. Even when we asked the assassins we captured from the hideout, they said they had no idea. It seems that she has kept her identity completely hidden from everyone except his close associates.”

“This is a big deal. No matter how much you destroy the heresy, it’s useless if you can’t catch the main body...”

I shook my head in frustration.

Judging from what has happened so far, Ibis is no pushover.

Not only was she talented, but she was also very ambitious, as evidenced by the way she boldly targeted the Saintesses.

'I'm sure it'll happen again soon.'

And somehow I had an ominous feeling that it would be something so enormous that it would shake the world.

The Crown Prince also seemed to be thinking similar thoughts, as his expression was not very good.

After sharing a few moments of silence, I was the first to speak.

“I think it would be better for us to take possession of the remaining relics.”

“Are you talking about all the holy relics?”

“Yes. I already have one, but I’m not sure how powerful Ibis is, so I’m not sure. I think it would be a good idea to find the other three and prepare for them in advance.”

If you do so, you will be able to borrow all the power of the goddess, so even if you clash with Ibis, you will not be defeated helplessly.

But the brown Prince shook his head with a stern expression.

“That doesn’t seem like a good idea. According to Marquis Bayen, there is no trace of the goddess’s blessing on you.”

“That’s true, but there is also a way to ask for permission from the relics.”

“That’s the problem. You may have been lucky enough to be recognized by the relics before, but there’s no guarantee that other relics will accept you. If something goes wrong, you’ll be in big trouble. Didn’t you hear about the side effects of unauthorized people touching relics?”

“...Yes. I heard you clearly.”

The divine punishment that Marquis Bayen spoke of was by no means a light one.

If you're not careful, you could become permanently disabled, or even lose your life.

To overlook that fact.

I guess I became too complacent after receiving Adam's approval.

I obtained the holy relic without any trouble last time, so I think it will be the same in the future.

As I sat there sullen, the Crown Prince spoke soothingly.

“At that time, your life was in danger so there was nothing you could do, but now the situation is not that critical so there is no need to gamble. Let’s try other methods first.”

There was nothing wrong with that, so I nodded obediently.

After Shayne left the office, Declan sat back down at his desk.

There were so many reports coming in from all over the country that it would take two full days to review them all.

He quickly picked up a piece of paper and began to read it carefully.

But after less than five minutes, he threw the papers down on the desk.

He just couldn't concentrate.

The upright posture collapsed and became limp.

He was leaning back against the back of his chair, his head tilted back, and his face was filled with deep thought.

“Take possession of the remaining holy relics.”

It was definitely a good idea.

What shield could be stronger than having all four of the sacred relics arranged by the Goddess, when you don't know what the heretic goddess of unknown identity might do next?

But even so, he couldn't accept Shayne's claim.

“Ahhhhhhh!!”

The scream she let out as she entered the room where the relics were stored together with Marquis Bayen.

He was startled by the screams that sounded like something you would hear in a torture chamber for serious criminals and went inside. He was shocked to see Shayne surrounded by a blood-red swarm.

How horrible it was to see her clawing at the floor with all her might, not even realizing that her fingernails were breaking, screaming, “Please save me, please save me, no, please kill me instead.”

At that time, Shayne had prepared herself for anything. She was going to die anyway, so she calmly entered the room with the sacred relic, hoping to cling to even a glimmer of hope.

But how much pain and suffering must it have been for her to break down like that?

He hugged her, feeling all the blood drain from his body.

He held the body, which was flapping like a fish on a chopping board, in his arms and shouted to end this ritual immediately.

He was so out of his mind that he couldn't even imagine being rude to the goddess's beloved.

But all that came back was that since the ritual had begun, they had to wait until the judgment of the relic was finished.

At that moment, a tremendous sense of helplessness struck his chest, along with the urge to dare to kill the goddess's bloodline.

She's in so much pain, and he doesn't even notice her broken nails stained with blood, she's begging him to kill her, and he can't do anything about it. He has to just sit there and do nothing.

He held her tightly with his trembling hands, barely able to support her body that was about to collapse from exhaustion.

Her nails, unable to scrape the floor any longer because of her posture, gnawed at his nape and collar, but it didn't hurt at all.

Compared to the excruciating pain she was experiencing, this little tearing of flesh was nothing.

He didn't stop holding her until Shayne's seizure stopped.

Because it was the only thing he could do for her.

"Ha."

Declan woke up from the memories of a terrible past and ran his hands over his head with a tired expression.

Just looking back at it for a moment is so exhausting, and now he has to see that sight again.

He had absolutely no confidence.

So Shayne must never touch the relic again. Never.

But fate seemed to have no intention of going his way.
