IDMH - Chapter 249

“I’m going with Mr. Ferdes.”

Prophetes IV tilted his head as if he was puzzled by my words.

“That’s an unexpected decision. I thought you’d reject that guy like a knife even if he insisted on going with you.”

“It just so happened that way.”

I couldn't tell him that I had no choice but to do it because of Perdes's strange stubbornness, so I just gave a vague answer.

Prophetes IV glanced at Perdes, who was standing next to me, and shrugged.

“Well, fine. You are the one in overall command of this operation, so I will follow your wishes.”

“Thank you for your understanding.”

“Then why don’t you finish that work quickly?”

What Prophetes IV was talking about was explaining to the Knights what had happened.

“I’ve been waiting for you with my neck stretched out.”

“I was going to do it from the beginning anyway. So, could you please send everyone out?”

“Does that mean I should leave too?”

“Yes, I would appreciate it if you could do that.”

“Then let’s finish it and come out within 10 minutes. If we delay any longer, it will be difficult for both you and me.”

I nodded and said to Perdes.

“Please wait outside, Perdes.”

"Yes."

I was worried that he would act strangely and stubbornly like before, but fortunately, he went out without any problems.

As the Allied Forces, including Prophetes IV and Perdes left the station, Sir Connor, who had been watching us, approached us.

“Captain.”

“Go now.”

This is the real beginning. I took a deep breath and stood in front of the knights.

***

“Why did you come to Krad and not to Rosdom?”

“I went to ask the captain what had happened to Connor, but he ordered me to pack up all my bags and get off, saying he would tell me later.”

“You mean you’re not going to Lost? Why? What about the recapture battle?”

“Well, I don’t know either.”

The Leopold knights, who had been muttering in an unknown situation, all fell silent and stared at Adele as she approached.

Adele glanced at the knights standing neatly in four rows, then opened her heavy mouth.

“First of all, let me apologize for deceiving you.”

Adele's voice echoed throughout the wide station.

“It was a very important matter that must never be made known to the outside world, so I had no choice but to hide it from the gentlemen. I hope you will be generous and understand that part.”

Adele's expression was serious, and her voice was stern.

Moreover, the content she was talking about was heavy, so the knights listened to Adele's words with great tension.

“For hundreds of years, the House of Leopold has served the Empire and the Crown as the Sword of the Empire."

The green eyes distorted for a moment.

Adele continued spitting out her words.

“But what I got in return was nothing but a terrible betrayal. The royal family not only murdered my father to swallow up Leopold’s entire territory, but they also tried to kill me.”

“...!”

The royal family murdered the previous Duke Leopold!

And what's worse, he even tried to kill Adele!

All the knights who heard the unexpected fact were shocked.

“Leopold’s Estate is not of the Empire, but of the Leopold family. It is land that the Red Dragon gifted to the first Duke Leopold.”

Adele continued speaking amidst the confusion.

The knights quickly gathered their shocked minds, as they could not dare ignore the captain's words.

“If someone comes after Leopold’s territory, I will fight to protect it. Even if they are the royal family.”

Without any sense of relief, the shocking bombs continued to fly in, one after another.

Some stumbled and fell to the floor, while others stared into space and muttered nonsense.

“Are you serious?”

Connor, who was somewhat able to guess Adele's intentions and was not that shocked, asked Adele.

“Are you truly thinking of rebelling, Commander?”

“It’s not treason, I’m just trying to protect what’s mine.”

Connor swallowed his words as he was about to ask if that was what she meant.

“I’m simply trying to protect what’s mine, but I know that it may seem like treason to others. So I completely understand why you guys are so surprised.”

Adele continued, looking at the shocked knights with a serious expression on her face.

“But I can’t help it. I have to protect my family, my territory, and my people. Even if it’s treason, I have no choice but to fight.”

Unlike the first time, a slightly wet voice pierced the knights' eardrums, awakening their shocked and dazed minds.

One by one, the knights who had come to their senses looked at Adele.

Adele looked at the knights with profound eyes in silence, then bowed deeply.

“Please.”

It was surprising that Adele, the Duchess, and the leader would bow down to them, mere knights, but what was even more surprising was what she said next.

“To protect Leopold’s estate, we absolutely need the help of the gentlemen.”

“..."

“Please come with me and protect Leopold’s estate.”

It was nice to say that we would protect the territory together, but it was actually a proposal to rebel together.

However, the reason why they felt sympathy rather than rejection was because of Adele's polite attitude.

They are her knights, so they thought she would forcefully order them to follow her unconditionally, but instead, she politely asked them to do so.

The knights were surprised by Adele's completely unexpected attitude, but at the same time, their hearts felt heavy.

The leader respects them as individuals.

The emotion came rushing in like a tidal wave.

They wanted to say that they would go with her, but they couldn't do it right away because of the weight of the word treason.

If the rebellion succeeds, it becomes a revolution, but if it fails, not only them but their entire family will be destroyed.

So, while they were at a loss as to what to do, Connor pulled out his sword and slammed it into the ground.

“The role of a Knight of Leopold is to be loyal to the House of Leopold and protect the house and its lands.”

He knelt down on one knee before Adele and spoke devoutly.

“As a Knight of Leopold, I will naturally join your cause.”

Connor's words and actions strengthened the hearts of the knights who had been at a loss.

“As a Knight of Leopold, I will also join you in your cause.”

“Let’s do it together!”

The knights in red uniforms knelt in unison and declared that they would join Adele.

Adele's eyes became slightly wet with tears as the red echo filled the station.

Adele closed her eyes tightly to calm her confused emotions, then opened them and drew her sword.

“For the House of Leopold.”

The dazzling sunlight poured down on the sharp swords as if to cheer on the determination of Adele and the Knights of Leopold.

***

The moment Adele was talking to the Knights of Leopold.

Perdes and Prophetes IV waited in front of the train station for Adele and the Knight Leopold to come out.

At first glance, Perdes did not appear to be part of the group, as he was standing quite a distance away from Prophetes IV.

“I really don’t know what he’s thinking.”

Logos glanced at Perdes and said to Prophetes IV.

“You’re going to kill the Emperor, and you’re going with his son? Does that make sense?”

“It makes sense. That Prince is a half-penny, so instead of being treated like a Prince, he is treated with all sorts of contempt. He must hate the Emperor and the other royals very much.”

“Oh, by the way, the Duke’s fiancĂ© was the rumored 4th Prince.”

Logos nodded as if he finally understood, then tilted his head again.

“But how did Prince become engaged to the Duke?”

“I heard that the Duke herself chose it.”

“Yes? Why? How can a half-penny Prince be of any use? Do she even love him?”

Love. Prophetes IV frowned, feeling bad about substituting that word between Perdes and Adele.

“Hey, where are you going all of a sudden!”

And leaving the surprised Logos behind, he approached Perdes.

Perdes, who had been leaning against the pillar with his eyes tightly closed, opened his eyes when he felt a presence.

The two people who met each other's eyes straight ahead said nothing and stared at each other as if they were going to eat each other.

It was so fierce that Logos, who had been following Prophetes IV, was startled and turned back the way he had come.

The first to break the trembling silence was Prophetes IV.

“What do you think of Duke Leopold?”

A meaningful question.

“Why should I answer that question?”

When Perdes refused to back down and struck, Prophetes IV twisted his jaw.

“I apologize if I offended you. I asked because I was worried that you might get in Duke Leopold’s way.”

“I’m holding Adele’s ankle?”

Adele. When Perdes called her name without hesitation, the area under Prophetes IV's eyes twitched slightly.

“Yeah. For some ridiculous reason like loving her, you might have to leave, but you can’t and just be stubborn.”

Perdes responded fiercely.

“It’s my and Adele’s business, so don’t worry about third parties.”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t do that.”

"What?"

“If I like her ”

Prophetes IV said, smiling brightly like a flower in full bloom.

“I love Adele, so I can’t stand to see a useless leech hanging around her. So, could you please step away?”
