MWTB - Chapter 44

Rather than looking unfamiliar, the look in his eyes was one of wonder.

Julia, who had been a little worried that Endymion might be reluctant, felt relieved. But at the same time, she laughed because those words were exactly the same thoughts she had when she realized Endymion was a rational being.

Endymion sat on the sofa and stared blankly at Julia as she walked towards him.

"That ring, it was hiding magical powers?"

"Yes."

"Since when?"

"Since I was five years old. I hid it because I didn't want to be dragged to the magic tower if it was known that I was a wizard."

Julia, who confessed belatedly, avoided eye contact and fiddled with Endymion's collar. Endymion, who had been quietly holding the hem of his coat, began to ask questions one by one.

"Why did you hide it from me?"

"I was afraid you'd be worried if you found out. I've been keeping it a secret from myself, so I didn't want to make you worry anymore."

Although she seemed sorry for hiding it, Julia didn't seem to think that her choice was wrong.

Endymion sighed and clasped the white hands that were adjusting his collar near his neck.

"I'm more concerned about the things I don't know about you."

"Yes?"

"Don't hide it anymore. I don't want to lose you without knowing anything."

Endymion muttered, bringing his lips to Julia's palm.

As warm breath gently tickled her skin, Julia flinched and took a step back. Then she nodded, pulling her hand out and hiding it behind her back.

"I'm sorry. I won't hide anything from you anymore. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

"Yes."

Endymion nodded with a relieved expression and sat Julia down next to him.

Julia, sitting next to Endymion, carefully told him the story of how she realized she was a sorceress when she was five years old, and how she had hidden her powers with a ring. She also explained in detail the story of her encounter with Chiara.

"Boris seems to think I'm a mid-level wizard... I'm not sure. I guess I might not be."

"Is it more amazing?"

"How did you know?"

When Julia asked with wide eyes, Endymion smiled and his eyes lit up with pride.

"The demons you defeated were difficult for even knights to defeat, but I heard you were really skilled at killing them. I also received reports that the scars left on the corpses were so clean that it was difficult to analyze what had attacked them. With that kind of skill, wouldn't you be a great magician?"

"What? No, not much."

Julia scratched her cheek awkwardly. She did it almost instinctively, but she felt embarrassed because Endymion praised her as if it were an achievement.

"Show it to me later."

"It's nothing, really. What's the point of seeing something like that?"

"Then what's the big deal? Oh, hitting the table?"

Julia laughed out loud at his calm words.

He had been anxious about what Endymion would think, and whether he would find her being a wizard a nuisance. But his worries had completely dissipated, to the point where it felt futile to even think about it.

Julia continued, leaning back on the sofa.

"I've been thinking about whether or not I should tell you this, but it's not certain yet. And if it gets out, it'll just be a hassle, so I'm going to keep it a secret. I'm only telling you."

"Good. It's just our secret."

Endymion said with satisfaction. His blue eyes seemed to be utterly proud of her as a wizard of great ability.

"Then, it doesn't matter who the impure force is that we need to find."

"Huh? Why?"

"You are greater than a wizard who controls and manipulates a mere escaped convict."

Endymion rested his chin on one hand and answered without a moment's hesitation. Julia shook her head in a ticklish manner, but her eyes widened as a thought occurred to her.

'Well, considering how you used Chiara.'

According to Boris, since he summoned the demon, his skill level is mid-level. However, considering that he used someone as a medium, he is probably not a higher-level one.

'It would have been more certain for a high-ranking person to step forward on his own, so why would he have used Chiara, who isn't even a magician? There was no reason to do that.'

She couldn't help but worry about the identity of the force that had put her in danger twice. However, her anxiety surprisingly disappeared when Endymion's organization accurately saw through the situation.

She never knew it would be so comforting to have someone to confide in and rely on. Julia smiled brightly at Endymion as warmth rose within her.

The two continued to chat like that.

"Thank you. For saving me back then. Is your arm really okay?"

After checking it over and over again, Julia looked at it carefully again and said.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

The arm that seemed to have been injured when the healing potion, was poured or when the golden curtain was pierced was completely healed. Julia apologized as the scene she had seen before fainting flashed through her mind.

"I'm sorry, because of me you almost got in trouble."

"It's obvious, so why are you apologizing? Take back your apologies."

Endymion, who was like a cat wagging its tail and acting cute, immediately spoke unpleasantly. Julia, who felt relieved, nodded, stroking his arm with emotion and gratitude.

"Phew. Yes, cancel. Ah... Mion?"

Endymion suddenly leaned over and hugged Julia.

Julia, who was in his arms hesitated, putting her hand on Endymion's shoulder and taking it off, not knowing what to do.

It was nice to be held, but she started to feel nervous because their bodies were so close. When she woke up, the maids had washed her body and changed her clothes, but she was worried because they hadn't properly bathed her.

"Hey. I'll see you back in the bedroom later, okay?"

"Why are you trying to run away again?"

"No. Just..."

"Ask me anything you want?"

Julia tried to brush it off, but Endymion hugged her tighter and asked her a question in a sly tone. Julia eventually blushed and pushed Endymion away.

"Don't ask that."

"Why? You said you weren't hiding anything."

"This is different! It means we're not making any serious secrets."

"I want to know even the smallest details."

"You're so persistent, oh, it's suffocating! Really, Isn't there even one little thing you're hiding from me?"

Julia slapped his strong arm and snapped. Endymion, who had been pretending not to know and burying his face in her shoulder, stiffened slightly. But Julia didn't notice because she was struggling to get away.

After a few seconds, Endymion released Julia and whispered softly.

"It's just something trivial. Like... I like the smell of your skin?"

Julia, who had been making a face that said she was alive, was shocked. Her purple eyes, filled with contempt as she saw the world's most extraordinary pervert, were wide open.

"You, no, don't come any closer."

"I told you the truth."

Endymion looked at her with innocent eyes as if he was wondering what was wrong. Julia swallowed hard and stepped back hesitantly.

"I think your tastes are a bit too, a bit, primitive. You're not an animal! Hide that from now on!"

"I don't get what is primal. If you explain it in as much detail as possible. I'll try to speak less primal in the future."

"Just don't say it!"

Julia finally ran out of the living room, screaming.

Running down the hallway with a bright red face, Julia half-jokingly wondered if maybe she should have gone to the Magic Tower.

***

Inside a special prison.

"No, that won't happen..."

The muttering voice was ominous.

Crackle.

Chiara bit her fingernails with unfocused eyes.

Her hands were tied, her ankles were bound, and her clothes were tattered and stained with blood and dirt. She was even charged with the murder of the Queen and had a miserable restraint put around her neck.

"Ugh. No... It can't end like this."

Her feet were scraped against the cold, rough stone floor and bled. The wounds that had been stopped from bleeding opened again, and the smell of iron filled the air. However, Chiara, who had lost consciousness, began to grumble and groan like a madman.

Squeak-!

At that moment, the sound of the prison door opening was heard. Chiara, who had been huddled in a corner with a madman-like appearance, suddenly turned her head.

"Your Majesty?!"

"How pathetic."

His cold voice made her blood freeze.

Chiara flinched, then quickly ran madly on her knees.

Clank!

"Oh, my lord!"

The chains that bound her were too short to reach the bars, but Chiara's eyes sparkled and she began to get excited by evil.

"I could have done it! If only I had been a little faster. I could have succeeded! I can't let it end like this, give me one more chance!"

Madness appeared in Chiara's eyes as she held her bound hands together and extended them forward. The shadow of a man wearing a black robe stretched out and covered her.

"I will kill the King. How dare you lie to me?"

An eerie voice spoke lowly. Only then did Chiara realize her mistake and take a step back.

"That, that!"

"When you failed to complete your mission at the royal hunting grounds, headquarters decided to kill you."

Swish.

The black body climbed over the tightly locked bars with great ease.

Chiara gasped and tried to run away.

"I never intended to give you a chance in the first place. How could a powerless noble lady like you swallow Semele?"

Bam.

"Ugh!"

As the man waved his hand. Chiara's neck was suddenly grabbed. At the same time, the restraints tightened so that she could not escape, and she broke out in a cold sweat and was gripped by fear.

"But you said you would risk your life to seek revenge. I don't think I would be satisfied even if I ground King Semele, who destroyed you and your father's family, so I demand that you kill her."

"Ugh! I'm sorry... I tried to kill her, I really tried to kill her! But I got angry!"

There was an eerie lack of reaction from the man. At the black shadow that covered her entire body. Chiara began to rub her palms in fear.

"Oh. I hated the Queen so much. Hehe. But, I succeeded in changing my face with the potion the wizard gave me! And I used the summoning scroll properly! So, please give me one last chance!"

Chiara began to plead, tears streaming down her face.

"Yes! I will kill that insolent Queen and become the Queen and bear the heir! Then the headquarters and the wizard will get their hands on Semele! It won't be too late to kill the King then, kkkk!"

Chiara's eyes suddenly opened wide in a mixture of anger and hatred. As the man's black-gloved fingers pressed against her forehead, a burning pain took over her brain.

"Who said it was okay for you to judge?"

"Ahh!"

She struggled, but it was no use. The smell of burning flesh filled the room, and the man pressed down on Chiara's forehead as if branding her.

"Ugh. Please..."

Chiara frowned and bit her lip. Memories began to jumble in her painful head.

The moment when he first met the secret group of wizards in the kingdom of Tirve. She made a deal with them. However, when she failed her first attempt at the hunting grounds and was imprisoned.

And then, another deal was made with the man who came to kill her and silence her.

"The terms of the deal were to get rid of the King, not the Queen."
