MWTB - Chapter 27

'How, how..."

What was even more surprising was that the golden energy was absorbed into the boy's fingertips.

But unlike Julia, who was nervous, the boy was calm. The golden energy that had been swaying wildly was caught and dragged away quietly when it touched the silver energy.

Soon, the golden aura that seemed like it would continue to shine endlessly began to fade and finally disappeared.

Pong.

Only the remaining white smoke, along with the cute and incongruous sound, proved the unbelievable fact.

The boy slowly withdrew his hand. He was calm the whole time, but he seemed surprised, and I saw him slowly look at his hand again, putting the ring on.

Julia swallowed dryly and absentmindedly turned her gaze to the apple tree. But.

An apple!

Not a single one of the golden apples that had been hanging in clusters was there. They had all disappeared like smoke!

Julia, with her mouth wide open, kicked her feet up without realizing It.

'Oh my God!"

The boy turned around at the sound of a clear, trembling voice. The urgent eyes that met her eyes were silver the same color as the boy's hair.

The moment Julia thought of his eyes as cold as winter, they gently curved with the warmth of a spring day.

"You made this?"

The boy pointed to the tree with his silver-ringed finger. Julia, who had been running away, fell to her knees and touched the apple tree.

"Are you hurt? Are you okay?"

"The tree is fine. It's just that the fruit was taken away."

Julia's watery, pitiful voice was gently comforted by a sweet voice like sugar. Julia felt relieved at that, but then suddenly raised her head.

"Why, why did you get rid of it? They gave it to us as a gift...!"

"If Ametrine gets the golden apple, which has a probability of opening with hundreds of millions to one chance, you will be in trouble."

The voice that spoke like that seemed to be comforting his younger sister.

As Julia tilted her head with watery purple eyes, the boy smiled apologetically and bent his knee. Then he reached out and gently wiped her eyes.

"What are you talking about?"

"Because everyone will want the golden apples. Ametrine doesn't have the power to protect them from those greedy people."

She thought it would be as cold as ice, but the hand was surprisingly warm. The small body that woke up from fainting easily opened its heart to the warmth.

Julia, who was sobbing in surprise and disappointment, nodded slightly.

Although she was only a five-year-old girl, Julia was smart. She easily understood that her beloved motherland was weaker than other countries and that the splendid golden apples were a treasure that everyone coveted.

"You made the golden apples grow, right? The golden aura is yours."

The boy sitting across from Julia asked softly again. Julia hesitated, blinking her gentle, round eyes slowly.

Can she tell a secret that she hasn't told anyone yet to someone she's meeting for the first time?

"It's okay, for me."

"..."

"You saw my energy too. I am the same as you."

The boy lifted his hand, which was wearing a silver ring. His wet purple eyes rolled back, recalling the unbelievable scene he had seen earlier.

The silver energy flowed like a great river, like a vast ocean. The strong power easily suppressed her own golden energy that was raging fiercely.

"...Huh."

So Julia nodded. She trusted the boy who had done the work himself, fearing that there would be people fighting over the golden apples.

Besides, maybe it would explain the strange aura she had and the incident that happened earlier.

"Wow. Such incredible strength for such a young person."

The boy smiled brightly and patted Julia on the head.

When a gentle hand touched her small body that had been frozen in fear, Julia felt her body relax, but she still stuck out her lips. It was because her pride as a Princess belatedly appeared when she was told she was young.

"I'm five years old. I'm not young."

"I'm the older brother. I'm ten years old."

So I'm right, you're young. The boy whispered in a mischievous voice, grinning and ruffling her hair.

When Julia furrowed her eyebrows in bewilderment, the boy as if it was a joke, ran his fingers through her hair and even put a headband on her head.

"Have you ever told anyone about that power?"

"No. It's a secret, so no one knows."

"That's fortunate. This is something no one should know about."

The boy who had asked cautiously let out a sigh of relief. Julia paused at the sight of his gentle yet serious eyes.

I just kept it a secret to surprise them later, but is it really okay for no one to know?

"If anyone finds out about this, they'll take you to the Tower. You won't be able to stay with your family, and you won't be able to live in Ametrine."

"Ugh, I hate it!"

You can't spend time with your family? Why should I leave Ametrine and go to Magic Tower?

Julia, a young girl, didn't even know what the Magic Tower was.

However, she only remembered that whenever her father talked about something similar to the Magic Tower, he would get very upset, lose sleep at night, and have shadows under his eyes. So, the Magic Tower was engraved in Julia's mind as a very strange and scary place.

"Yeah, I hate it too. That's why I hid it. No one knows I have this power."

The boy stroked Julia's head again, trying to calm her down as she suddenly got scared. Julia opened her eyes wide at his affectionate words and asked.

"Oh, how did you hide it? Sometimes, when I'm feeling really good or sad, I jump out without realizing it. And even though I told it to stop earlier, it jumped out with all its might and wouldn't stop!"

Up until now, Julia just thought it was a strange and good feeling, but when she remembered that she had just created five unwanted golden apples, she started to get scared.

Moreover, it is a power that is not properly controlled and can even cause fainting...

Julia has a power inside her that she doesn't know why it came into being, why it can't be stopped, or what it can do. Because of that power, she could be forcibly dragged to the magic tower!

"I want to hide it too. How did you do it?"

When Julia asked with urgent eyes, the boy looked down at her without saying anything. His silver eyes looked deep into his purple ones, almost as if they were trying to penetrate them.

Julia suddenly shivered as she felt the ice cubes pierce her skin, although she was clearly smiling. But her unwillingness to leave her hometown was stronger.

"Please tell me."

Julia whispered softly and took the boy's hand. The boy looked down in surprise as two cute, delicate, white hands took his hand.

Julia held on tighter, not caring. The most important things to her were her father, her nanny, and her Iife in Ametrine.

After a few minutes, the boy finally broke the silence as if he had made up his mind.

"Good."

The boy took Julia's two hands lightly in one hand, took a small cloth bag from his bosom, took a gold ring out of it, and put it on Julia's fourth finger.

"Uh?"

It was a plain ring, exactly like the one the boy was wearing. Light and plain.

But the moment the ring fit perfectly onto Julia's finger, she felt the energy that had been firmly embedded in her body being sucked away.

Julia blinked, took her hand away from the boy, and looked at it carefully.

"It's a ring that hides your power. If you wear it, no one will know that you have power."

He said that it was an item he had secretly acquired overseas. He said that he had accidentally purchased it at an antique shop and that even his father did not know that he had such a ring.

The boy explained in detail and told her not to tell anyone.

"You must wear it to hide it perfectly. Judging from your ability to manipulate magical power, it must have only been manifested for a short time, so you must tame it so that it can perfectly blend into the seal."

The boy mumbled, half-thinking, half-explaining, then asked Julia when she had been able to use her strength.

Julia told him that the golden aura had been appearing since her fifth birthday. The boy nodded in agreement, then helped Julia up and gave her a word.

"Remember this. No matter what happens, don't go to the Magic Tower. People with more power than you will easily figure out what this ring is for. Those wizards will only be in the Magic Tower anyway. And the lower-level wizards won't know even if they see them, so it'll be okay if you just don't go to the Magic Tower."

"Yes."

It was hard to understand everything he said, but she understood the gist of it. Julia nodded vigorously, taking what she heard to heart.

The ring on her fourth finger was cold, but it already felt like a part of her body, perhaps because it had sucked all of her energy into it.

"But if, just in case, you're alone and in real danger, take off your ring. Then your spirit will protect you."

"Yes. I'll definitely remember that."

Julia spoke calmly and nodded her head slightly. It was very cute and admirable to see the young girl move her lips with a serious look in her eyes.

The boy who had been watching Julia like that smiled faintly. And as if he liked the smart Julia, he stroked Julia's ringed finger with his hand that had a silver ring on it and spoke softly.

"You must tell only me about this power, Yes?"

Only for me.

The boy spoke forcefully as if checking for the last time. Julia fluttered her eyelashes and met his soft silver gaze.

"I will help you."

With a gentle voice, the boy smiled brightly. Like a Prince who saved the Princess from embarrassment, confusion, and danger.

"Yes."

Julia smiled back, her violet eyes curved into crescent moons, her pink petal-like lips curved.

The warmth from their hands and the ring that seemed to be shared equally gave a sense of trust that they were sharing a secret.

So Julia shared her secret with the boy she had seen for the first time in her life in the sunset.

"Oh my, Julia!"

"Dad?"

"Where on earth have you been! How worried was your father for our Princess!"

"...Your Majesty?"

"No, is that Lord Oberon carrying our Julia there? That's right, that's right! This is so great!"

Julia naturally became close to him.

The boy had a gentle and affectionate personality, and when he found out that Julia was a Princess, he used polite and respectful language. He also carefully watched Julia to make sure she wasn't getting sick because of her energy. He was young, but he seemed much more mature than his age, perhaps because he had studied abroad.

"Julia, you must go with Lord Oberon!"

"Yes, Dad!"

Thanks to this, Julia was able to go out and play to her heart's content, using him as a shield even under her father's increasingly overprotective control. Whenever Julia wanted to go out, she would always hold his hand and run out.
