MWTB - Chapter 17

"Your Majesty, everything is ready!"

"I'll take you to the bathroom!"

As she was about to sit down next to Endymion, laughing bashfully, the maids appeared and shouted cheerfully. Julia stopped talking, nodded, and stood up again.

"Then I'll go wash up and come back!"

"Yes."

Endymion spoke calmly, not taking his eyes off the book.

'Hmm, this seems like a really interesting book?'

Why don't you even look at it like that?

Julia nodded and disappeared into the bathroom with the maids. Thinking that she would read it herself later when she had time...

"...Ha."

Julia and the maids are gone, leaving the bedroom alone.

With a short sigh of relief, Endymion covered his eyes with his large palms and slumped back onto the sofa.

At the same time, the book slipped out of his hand and fell onto the table. The tiny letters engraved on the spine stood out.

-Emergency Record Book-

The wide-open interior was completely blank.

"Let go! Let go! Aaaah! Do you know who I am!"

The Duke of Soare flailed around in a fit of rage. As soon as the King's no command was given, the knights who had captured the Duke of Soare, who was engrossed in hunting, and dragged him away began to threaten him.

"Be quiet! Don't you know that this is only adding strength to the accusation of treason?"

"When! When did I commit treason! This is a false accusation!"

The Duke of Soare shivered and screamed. He thought that the daughter who had been raised with a lot of love and affection was going crazy, but he didn't know that she would do something like this.

He returned to Semele, thinking that he could at least tolerate her poison, since she risked her life by kicking away the marriage proposal made in Tirve.

He thought that at this point, she could dig into the relationship between the royal couple who have been married for 12 years but still have no children.

Kennedy Soare had a strong desire for power from birth. When his attempt to make his young daughter Queen failed, he tried to use her to rub his hand back into Tirve. However, even that attempt failed.

After that, when the daughter who had been blinded by the King insisted on giving birth to the King's successor, greed began to creep in. Being the maternal grandfather of the successor? Isn't that a really delicious position?

Chiara had boasted that it was only a matter of time before she would become King's concubine, having cooked the Duchess of Hyde, who was a braggart but was actually a total idiot. Now, she had been living abroad for a long time, so her social standing was weak, so she quietly nodded when he told her to lower her head and wait for the right time, which put his mind at ease.

But how dare you do such a stupid thing without even saying a word to me?!

"It's her fault, so why are you taking me away?! Just take my daughter away! I'm the Duke of this country! Who do these guys dare to...!"

The Duke Soare was spitting and shouting loudly, and the sound of cold footsteps sent a chill down the back of his head. For some reason, goosebumps appeared on the Duke Soare's face, and he hesitated and turned around.

"Your Majesty?"

A face without a shred of warmth was looking down.

The blue flame-like eyes terrifyingly dug into his heart. He thought he had a blunt personality, but the aura that overwhelmed people like this was completely different from the one at the banquet earlier.

The spirit he had been fighting was nowhere to be found, and the frightened Duke of Soare urgently fell to the ground.

"Your Majesty! I don't care what kind of punishment my daughter receives, so until your anger subsides, do as you wish... Kkaaaak!"

Boom!

"Kwak... Gwaaak!"

With a sound of bones breaking, the Duke of Soare fell over. His strangely twisted shoulders writhed and squirmed like an insect, but the leg that had stepped on his shoulder crushed him without any effort.

"Ugh! Please, save me...!"

Ugh.

"You wish you had climbed up without even knowing the topic."

Like a hunting beast, his solid, muscular legs carelessly crushed insects.

"You should have been prepared."

"Ugh..."

Puck.

A long leg kicked the frothing, convulsive shoulder. The Duke convulsed, eyes rolling back in his head in excruciating pain as his bones broke and twisted.

The King lowered his gaze and reached out his hand to the Duke of Soare, who was barely able to regain consciousness and was digging the ground soaked in his blood with his nails.

Crunch.

"Snap!"

The Duke squirmed under the crushing pressure and the tremendous force that made his neck feel like it was going to break.

"This time, I'll end it simply."

"Ugh... ugh!"

The Duke Instinctively opened his eyes and flinched. There was nothing but cruelty in the King's walls as he watched the weak insect struggle.

"Next time I'll rip your neck out."

The emotionless voice made the Duke feel like all his blood was being sucked out. The fear that came over him like an instinct was stronger than the pain.

Kreuk.

Finally, a cruel warning flowed into the Duke's fading consciousness.

"Don't touch what's mine."

"Welcome, Your Majesty! Oh, His Majesty is not here?"

"Oh, he told me to go first because he had something to do."

Iris and Duke Hyde, who had been sitting next to each other, stood up and greeted Julia.

Julia, who had washed up and slept soundly in bed, came down first after getting dressed briefly in response to the message sent by Endymion.

"Something unexpected must have come up. I didn't hear about it, so it can't be anything serious, and he'll be back soon! Your Majesty, don't worry about it, and enjoy the dinner."

Duke Hyde spoke cheerfully and pulled out a chair for her. Julia smiled brightly and nodded.

As she sat down Iris rang a small bell that was on the long table.

As the clear sound of silver bells filled the banquet hall, the doors opened wide and a small orchestra and servants carrying silver trays poured out.

"Duchess! I think you are treating me too well..."

It was smaller than a ball at the palace, but Julia was impressed by its size, which was by no means insignificant. Julia's favorite music began to play as soon as it was prepared, and the appetizers that were being served were also the kind that Julia usually liked.

"Not at all. Since you are an important person, we should treat you appropriately."

Iris moistened her lips with lemon water and spoke proudly. All eyes were on Julia to check her reaction. She cleanly ignored the Duke of Hyde who was complaining next to her, saying that he was not a precious person.

Julia burst out laughing, wondering how many times she would laugh today. It was the first time in her life that she had ever been in such a warm and bustling family gathering.

Soon, a cozy dinner began under the leadership of the witty Duke of Hyde.

***

"I'm fine."

It was when wine was served with the main course. It was a precious wine that was specially brewed only by the Hyde family, so Duke Hyde said that he would offer it to her as a souvenir.

Julia happily accepted the drink and tried to offer Iris a drink as well. However, Iris cautiously declined.

"Oh... Is that so?"

Julia became sullen when her attempt to lighten the still slightly awkward atmosphere with wine failed.. Iris waved both her hands in urgenсу.

"No. no! That's not it!"

"It's okay, it might be uncomfortable."

When Julia avoided eye contact with a blank expression, Iris shut her eyes tightly and shouted.

"It's because I'm pregnant!"

"Yeah, I guess so... Yes?!"

Julia's eyes were filled with surprise. Her lips automatically parted, and Iris blushed and stammered an excuse.

"It's not that I don't like the Queen, but I can't drink alcohol because I'm pregnant. I haven't even told the Grand Duchess yet because It's not the right time to tell her..."

"Oh my God!"

That went so well!

Julia exclaimed like a girl.

As she quickly grabbed Iris' hand who was sitting next to her, Iris's eyes widened and she smiled with a blush on her cheeks. Duke Hyde burst into laughter next to her and looked at Iris with loving eyes.

"I would like the second one to be a girl. If possible, it would be better if she resembled my wife. Ed always sings the little sister song."

"It would be really lovely if she were a Princess! Since Ed is kind and cute, I'm sure the second Prince would be just as lovely when he's born."

The atmosphere became even warmer thanks to Julia, who was happily spouting off good words as if it were her own. At just the right time, Endymion changed his clothes and appeared at the banquet hall.

"Oh, Your Majesty! You have come?"

"Mion, you have a nephew!"

Julia waved her hand and told Endymion to hurry up and congratulate them in an excited voice.

Endymion, who had been sitting next to Julia, blinked a few times and then offered his congratulations bluntly.

"Congratulations, Duchess."

"Thank you."

Is that all?

Julia was taken aback by his extremely businesslike attitude, but Iris also said just one word with a haughty face and quickly looked at Julia again. Her expression was the complete opposite of when she looked at Endymion, sparkling brightly.

That older sister had that younger brother.

"Mion, why are you doing this to your sister? She's your niece. What else is there for her?"

"No need. Rather, I have a favor to ask of you. Your Majesty. Could you grant it?"

"Of course, I'll listen to anything you want!"

Iris whispered to Julia, who was trying to hit on Mion. Julia, who had her eyes wide open in surprise, nodded her head with a look of gratitude. And the two women burst into laughter and chattered away.

"No... Aren't you two a married couple?"

"I'm a father?"

Duke Hyde muttered to himself, suddenly becoming a screen.

Endymion, who had been quietly watching with narrowed eyes, took the wine bottle and filled the glass himself. Then he quickly picked up the wine glass and focused on the atmosphere.

"Cheers to my new nephew."

"Oh, yes! Let's have a toast!"

Julia, who turned around at the sound of Mion's voice, also smiled brightly and quickly picked up her glass. Iris picked up a glass filled with lemon water, and soon the four of them were clinking their glasses with cheerful music playing in the background.

Soon, the sound of friendly conversation filled the banquet hall, and the night deepened with the right amount of alcohol. It was a lovely dinner filled with warm food and warm affection.

"What will you name your second child, Duchess?"

Julia asked, her chin resting on her hand and her eyes sparkling.

Her cheeks were slightly flushed and her attitude was lively. It was because she was relaxed and intoxicated by the alcohol. Iris looked at her and smiled proudly.

"More than that, please call me by my name from now on, not Duchess."

"Yes! Then please call me Julia too."

"Sister?"

Iris's cheeks turned red even though she hadn't even had a drink.

Julia asked her worriedly if she didn't like being called "sister", and Iris shook her head vigorously and exclaimed that she did. Her cold eyes showed excitement and joy that could not be hidden. Soon, the chatter resumed.

Duke Hyde was also pleased to see the two lovely women.

"Then let's think about a name now! What do you think would be good, Mion?"

Julia, who cried out happily, reached out to drink more wine. Then, seeing Mion tilting his glass, she quickly snatched the glass away and took a sip.

Iris watched the scene without thinking and debated the baby's name vigorously. Julia emptied the glass of wine in front of her and passionately proposed a candidate.

"If it's a girl, I think Irene would be fine too. It's named after you two, and it's the same name as a fairy from a legend."

"That's great! Do you like it, Ma'am?"

Duke Hyde and Endymion also joined the discussion. While the discussion was going on so actively, Julia brought a wine glass filled in front of Endymion and drank it.

"Luke, no."

Hmm?

Iris noticed something strange the moment she opened her eyes and looked at the situation quietly.
