IWLUBCD - Chapter 57

Crunch.

This time, don't forget to lock the door.

I who had been staring at the empty seat where the maid had been, lay down on the sofa in the center.

“I don’t think you remember that I gave you the order...”

I fiddled with the armrest of the sofa with my fingers, lost in thought.

Fortunately, Sandy seemed to have no recollection of what I had said.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

My fingers, which had been bouncing on the soft velvet sofa, snapped.

“I guess I’ll have to find out for sure.”

How much power do I have?

After that, I began to experiment with the powers I possessed.

I feel sorry for Sandy, but she has been a faithful experiment subject for me.

So here are three things I found out in a week:

First, when using power, I must make 'eye' contact.

Second, the subject who was subdued did not remember that I had given the order.

Third, for relatively light commands, it can last up to 15 minutes.

'Finally.'

My body hurts after using the power.

“Ugh...”

As I thought about that last detail, a groan escaped my lips.

From headaches to nightmares, my physical condition has been terrible lately.

“Damn... That’s why they blocked me from using my abilities recklessly.”

Because I had been abusing my powers in the name of experimenting with authority, my condition was at its worst.

But if there is one fortunate thing.

On nights when Carsis comes, the pain is somewhat less.

Just having Carsis by my side made me feel lighter and my head clearer.

'I don't even have nightmares.'

Even when I was having nightmares, as soon as I came to Carsis, the unpleasant dreams would disappear like a dark curtain.

So lately, I have been waiting for Carsis to come.

“Carsis needs to come quickly, but...”

But sometimes.

There were times when I couldn't overcome my heavy eyelids like today.

“Honey, I don’t like it..."

Then I'll have another nightmare...

I wanted to hold out at least until Carsis arrived, but in the end, I couldn't overcome the pouring sleep.

And whenever I fell asleep without Carsis, nightmares would inevitably come to visit me.

Just like this dream that appeared before I now.

***

There was one thing that never failed to appear in my nightmares.

It was a flame so hot that it was difficult to even breathe.

The flames burned like an evil demon, each time opening its huge, red mouth as if it were going to devour the world.

But today, there was one thing that was a little different.

That's right.

It turns out I wasn't watching the flames, I was inside the mansion that was engulfed in flames.

In someone's arms.

< Bellona. >

A woman, wrapped tightly in a thick blanket for fear that her child might be harmed by the flames, entered a large room that the fire had not yet encroached upon.

Then she took the child out of her arms and said.

"Take heed to my words."

She has dark green hair just like her own and green eyes of similar brightness.

It was a woman who looked exactly like herself as if looking in a mirror.

< From now on, you have to go alone. If you follow the path behind this closet, you will come across the family grave on the back mountain. Do you remember Grandfather Bellalucci’s grave? There is a tombstone there? If you look behind it, you will see a small pouch. Take it and run far away. If you sell the jewels in the pouch, you will not have to worry for several years. >

But the child shook her head, not wanting to leave alone.

< I don't like it... I don't want to go alone... >

It was when the child, shedding large tears, grabbed the hem of the woman's skirt.

The tightly closed door shattered with a loud noise.

And then, in the meantime, knights with swords rushed in.

< Bellona. >

Even in an urgent situation where every moment counted, the woman calmly pushed the child's back.

< Go quickly. >

As soon as the woman spoke, the child's body began to move on its own.

She swore that she didn't want to go alone and that she wanted to stay here with her, but the child's feet showed no intention of stopping.

Then the woman smiled brighter than ever at the child.

As if saying goodbye to a child.

She wished that was the child's last memory.

Blood began to flow from the woman's body.

Eyes and nose. Mouth and ears.

Red blood flowed out from every pore in her body as if she was trying to pour out all the blood she had.

At the same time, the necks of the intruders who had burst into the room were broken.

'Bellona.'

The woman softly recited the child's name.

Without taking your eyes off the child.

'Don't forget what happened today.'

She asked the child to take revenge.

Endless despair and frustration swept over her like waves.

Even though I knew it was a dream, I had a hard time breathing properly because of the resentment that was suffocating my heart.

But that was only for a moment.

In an instant, the air surrounding me began to change.

As the dark clouds that had been blocking the sun cleared, the warm sunlight made me feel cozy.

The sticky blood and corpses lying on the floor were transformed one by one into bright and beautiful things like flowers and butterflies.

And then a familiar scent passed my nose.

A refreshing and pleasant scent that clears my mind.

My eyes slowly opened, and a smile appeared on my lips.

Then, a solid and sophisticated man's body came into my sight.

"Miss."

As always, there is one person who stands by my side.

It was Carsis.

Carsis smiled affectionately and ruffled my disheveled hair.

“Go to sleep more. The sun hasn’t risen yet.”

He said, blocking my view with his palm.

In a sweet voice as if singing a lullaby to a child.

I had been waiting for Carsis every night for some time.

His embrace was warm.

I didn't even have nightmares when I was with him.

Even my splitting headache has completely disappeared.

And when I opened my eyes in the morning, smiled and felt good seeing Carsis always by my side.

Right now, at this very moment.

“...Carsis.”

I wonder how long I've been looking at Carsis.

I asked a question that was a bit vulgar, but one that I had always wondered about.

“But why are you always naked?”

As I had said, he was not wearing a single thread today either.

At first, I was both shocked and uncomfortable by the sight of Carsis.

But aren't humans animals of adaptation?

Now, it seemed more awkward for Carsis to be lying in bed with his clothes on.

'Even when I see Carsis' naked body, I don't really feel anything anymore.'

Carsis blinked for a moment at my unexpected question, then let out a low laugh.

And then he gave a light-hearted answer that could be believed even if you said it was a joke.

“I want to get closer to you, young lady.”

“Don't joke around.”

“I’m not joking.”

At the same time, Carsis pulled me towards him.

Then, my face naturally touched Carsis' bare chest.

'Oh, no. I'll take back what I said about it being nothing.'

It was okay to look at, but it was still a little embarrassing to touch.

Because the chemise I was wearing was so thin, his warmth and firm, smooth texture were fully transmitted.

The sound of Carsis' heartbeat, regular but slightly fast, echoed in my ears.

“It’s not like we’re mixing bodies, but just the contact between our fleshes will make you feel better. You won’t have nightmares either.”

“Did you know? I was having a nightmare.”

“How could I not know when you groan and groan like that every night?”

Of course. There's no way Carsis wouldn't know what Jenna knows.

'More than that.'

It seemed like the first time.

It's comfortable to talk to each other, joking around like old friends with Carsis.

And it seems that Carsis felt the same way.

Amazingly, he made the first move, a proposal that was unimaginable just a few days ago.

“Would you like to go for a walk later?”

"Walk?"

My eyes opened wide at Carsis' unexpected suggestion.

“Yes. It’s stuffy just staying in the room.”

Amazingly, someone who knows that is only now making such a suggestion.
