TPITT - Chapter 198

"Action?"

At my question, Brigitte glanced to the side. In the direction her eyes were pointing, there was Michael.

Michael reported with his eyes downcast and his emotions absent.

“We found the final sealing stone, but His Highness the 6th Prince lost his life in an unfortunate accident.”

It was a sudden sad news. My eyes trembled greatly.

It took three deep breaths before I could finally form a coherent voice.

“What kind of death was it?”

“He suffocated because his lungs were crushed.”

“...What is Sir Wint’s condition?”

“She seemed shocked, so I tried to calm her down.”

"Yes."

I straightened my head again and looked straight ahead at Brigitte.

The corners of Brigitte's mouth formed a creepy curve.

“Killing your own family? You’ve really gone too far. Is this also a just cause?”

“That’s harsh, Eve. Talking about justice in the face of an unfortunate accident.”

As expected, the words of a traitor who has lost her humanity were not worth listening to.

I closed my eyes for a brief eulogy. Suddenly, I remembered what Derek had said the other day. Brigitte was a cold-blooded person who would even abandon her own side.

Who would have thought that these words would become his last will and testament?

“Wow, brother Derek really has an eye for people.”

“You only realize how valuable someone was after you lost them. Anyway, do you understand the situation now?”

My mind became as cold as my eyes.

Brigitte is a powerful woman. Under normal circumstances, the stakes for me are high enough that I'd pay dearly for even touching Brigitte. Not to mention, she's already laid the groundwork for Derek's death.

Justice is not easily implemented. Without solid evidence, the imperial family would not admit to a fatal crime such as genocide.

The homunculus that was at the place where Derek died was none other than Michael.

Therefore, Desmond II externally blamed Michael for failing to protect the royal family.

It was obvious that they would close the case by asking serious questions.

Michael was more important to me than anything else. I protected him with the utmost priority.

It was perfectly natural to make a choice, even if it meant a compromise.

Looking at me, who was silent, Brigitte felt that the situation was resolved as she had intended. So she said it with a satisfied smile.

“Then go and check it out, Eve.”

“Are you not going to go? Would you mind opening the door for me?”

"For a moment."

I opened my mouth in a flat voice as if I had lost all emotion.

“I was thinking about it.”

"Thought?"

When the curious question came out of Brigitte's mouth, my eyes changed.

“Brigitte, wouldn’t it be my cause to kill you here?”

Brigitte's shoulders trembled.

The murderous intent that this younger sibling, who she thought was soft and clumsy, pressed Brigitte. Her once relaxed expression instantly hardened.

Elijah, who was next to her, was holding his heart and holding his breath. He was a homunculus, so he had to use his instincts.

It was a pure yet vicious murderous intent that prepared him for the psychological shock that would result from the death of the enemy.

The person who stopped me at that time was unexpected.

"Your Highness."

Michael knelt down on one knee. He placed his hand on my right hand, which was resting on the armrest, and spoke.

“There is no need to get your hands dirty.”

“Michael.”

“Please use the right means to achieve honorable results and inflict the punishment she deserves. Your Highness is capable of doing so.”

My once cloudy amber eyes came to life. As expected, Michael was a better tranquilizer than any drug to me.

The air in the room where it was difficult to breathe finally began to clear up. I sat up from the sofa.

“Don’t forget, Michael saved your life twice today.”

“Have a good night, then.”

With a perfunctory goodbye, Eve turned and walked away with Michael, the door slamming behind them as they walked into the deep hallway.

The rain had slowed. Their footsteps mingled with the gentle tapping on the window. Eve and Michael made their way down the dark, deserted hallway.

Eve's room and Brigitte's room were located at the southern and northern ends, symmetrically facing each other.

It is now that they have kept them at a distance, taking into consideration political hostilities.

It was extremely uncomfortable. The road she had to take was unnecessarily long.

It was when Eve, who was walking slightly ahead, began to feel impatient in her footsteps.

A tightly shut door appeared in her sight. Her steps were now quickening to a running pace. Her hand grabbed the doorknob.

Click!

A man and a woman were sucked into the door that was opened somewhat.

“Michael!”

She let out the emotions I had been holding back all along.

From the moment I saw Michael's face again, I wanted to pull him into a hug.

I wanted to feel around with my hands to see if there were any injuries.

"Eve!"

Of course, it was the same for Michael. In fact, he was even more desperate.

After much resistance, he returned to her arms, even carrying the emotions of two overlapping lives.

Michael held the back of Eve's head with his hand and pulled her towards him.

The kiss followed immediately. They pressed their lips together as if they were not allowing any gaps, and their tongues entangled roughly.

As Michael greedily explored Eve's mouth like a predator, she tangled her fingers in his hair and cupped his cheek. The dry touch ecstasized him more than any caress ever could.

“Eve!”

“Ugh, haa...!”

As they hugged each other, Eve gradually became soaked with the rainwater that soaked Michael's hair and uniform.

Michael knew this too, but right now he had neither the leisure nor the self-control to separate from Eve.

The sound of dripping water filled the air in the room for a long time.

In fact, this wasn't even Eve's room. It was so urgent that they had to rent an empty room.

They exchanged countless hot, humid breaths with their mouth. Only then did the desires and urges that felt like they were weighing down my lungs ease a little.

Finally, Eve and Michael had enough space to look each other in the eye without rushing at each other.

“I was worried. I was really worried that you wouldn’t come back.”

“There’s no way I’d leave you behind and go first.”

“Still, I just had a feeling it might be possible.”

“Eve, I can’t die. How much strength do I have? I have earned the seat next to you, so I have no intention of giving up this life so easily.”

Michael took Eve into his arms and hugged her tightly.

As it was, he stared over her shoulder. His eyes, which had been raised to a shade of gray, were dark with a terrible depth of emotion.

Michael soothed Eve's anxiety by strumming his stringed instrument.

“I will always be by your side.”

“Yeah, Michael.”

Eve also put strength into both arms and hugged him. In this way, the two of them became each other's stabilizers.

They shared our body heat for a long time while playing the role.

Eve heard the story of how Michael fell into a trap and how he escaped the crisis.

The magic of flight is like a dream, pressing down with gravity and then sending light into the sky.

At the part where she drew a magic circle, Eve was amazed at her half-sister's talent as a villain.

Later, Michael changed the medium of space which became the coordinate plane.

When she heard the part where the magic circle was refracted, Eve applauded in admiration.

Immediately after the accident was resolved, Michael quickly returned to Dandelion, judging that Brigitte had also touched Eve.

Upon arriving at the mansion, Rosenite, Peony, and Sylvestian search for Eve.

They found quite a few fallen people, including the Knights of Punishment. They left the task of collecting them to the Knights of Punishment.

Michael also told Eve that she had nothing to worry about.

Of course, Eve still had important aftercare to deal with.

“Snorret Wint meets Her Highness the Seventh Princess.”

Snorret, Derek's direct subordinate and commander of the Phantom Division, has a pale face.

Eve greeted her. Eve didn't bother to ask her if she was okay.

“What about brother Derek?”

“His Highness the 6th Prince is here.”

Derek's body was moved to a cave used as a burial tomb and was guarded by the Knights of the Flame.

Eve walked past the homunculus offering her a greeting and approached the wooden coffin covered in white cloth.

“Open it.”

Knock knock.

The eerie expression on his face in his dream told of the intense pain he was in at the time of his death.

Despite her lack of siblings emotional connection, Eve was appropriately somber. It was more of a tribute to death itself than to the man Derek.

Eve turned back and said to Snorret.

“Sir Wint, you rest.”

“I am a sinner who failed to protect His Highness the 6th Prince. Even if it was just a corpse..."

“Your imprint is dead. It doesn’t seem to have any awareness, and you need to receive psychiatric treatment right now.”

“Yes, Your Highness. Thank you for your consideration.”

There was no way Derek, an Imperial, could be buried in the middle of nowhere. They had just found the final seal stone and were finalizing the rebuilding of the base and the expansion of the war facilities, so the castle would be ready in a few days.

After working until dawn on paperwork to accelerate the schedule, Eve fell asleep. A hand gently shook her as she slumped uncomfortably at her desk.

“Eve. Eve. Wake up.”

“Hmm...Huh? Mi, Michael.”

Eve, who came to her senses, quickly wiped her mouth with her hand. There was no moisture left.

She was deeply relieved by the fact.

“I’ll sleep in bed.”

It was the time when he was about to volunteer to behave well before the nagging stopped. Michael shook his head with a smile on his lips.

“Sleep a little later. There’s a place I want you to go together.”

"Yes?"

“Didn’t you promise? You’d come up to the lookout tower with me.”

"Now?"

“Yes, now.”

The late morning was not a very good time to go for a walk. But, Eve took his hand in a state of ecstasy, not even dreaming of rejection. Perhaps it was because Michael was smiling particularly charmingly at this moment.

“Okay. Let’s go.”
