THIBV - Chapter 87

"If you kill me, they will be disappointed in you. They will be hurt and leave you. That is what I want."

Julian's clenched fists trembled with anger.

He glared at Eric as if he was going to kill him, then gestured to the Shadow Knight.

The Shadow Knight threw Eric to the ground.

"Ugh!"

Eric rolled on the floor in annoyance.

Julian shouted outside.

"Hey! Take Eric."

The knights of the guard who had been listening to the commotion inside Immediately rushed in and dragged Eric out.

Julian lowered his head, clutching his head

"Tuck."

Julian snatched the Shadow Knight's sword and cut down the knight.

The knight's body was cut down and quickly regenerated.

The immortal shadow knight was torn to pieces dozens of times like that.

***

"Sir Eric. What's going on?"

One of the knights of the guard who dragged Eric out was a close personal friend of Eric's.

He pretended to drag Eric away, but once he was out of Julian's sight, he gently helped Eric up.

"Why has His Majesty become so angry this time that he has banished you? You are not the type of person to offer advice that would upset His Majesty."

He felt that Eric had become a poor target for Julian's anger.

Since Julian doesn't give his heart to those around him, wouldn't even the knights of the guard who should be loyal to him side with their acquaintances rather than their lord?

"You have such a great face. But you don't even get popular. What are you doing?"

Eric smiled bitterly and shook his head.

"I am ashamed to say that I just talked back to His Majesty while talking about my childhood."

"You talked back to His Majesty about something like that? You?"

"Haha. It just so happened."

The knight shook his head at the refreshing story and sent Eric away.

'Ha. Who's calling whom Impulsive?'

It was like a dog covered in shit scolding a dog covered in bran.

It was he who had just impulsively picked at Julian's wounds.

He stopped walking and sighed, wrapping his head around his neck.

***

Millea figured that by the end of the day, only five candidates for maids would remain.

But it was too peaceful a day to filter them out.

She figured Julian would be back by dinner time, and that some of the crowd would be filtered out by then.

'You're skipping meals again."

Julian didn't show his nose until late at night.

Since he would not eat anything other than the food Millea provided, he had no way of filling his stomach anywhere else.

Every time he starved, Millea became very nervous.

Anyway, the remaining nine maid candidates spent the day safely.

All they did today was to receive the maid's attire that Millea had prepared in advance and dress it up in their own unique way.

Those who were skilled sewed and added lace and other decorations to the plain maid's attire, while those who were not so skilled added brooches or other ornaments they brought from home.

For girls accustomed to fancy dresses, the maid's attire, which reflected Millea's taste, was too plain and unfashionable.

"The dress shop staff said purple suits me well. She said blue is my opposite. When will the maid's uniforms change again? Will they change next season?"

A girl asked, embroidering on Bridget's maid's uniform next to her.

Bridget gave an ambiguous answer to the bright girl's question.

"I wonder if it's time for Mrs. Spencer to change her mind."

Millea, who was very sensitive because of Julian's thoughts, spoke coldly from the side.

"It's a shame, my mind can't change."

The girl shut her mouth sullenly.

Looking at that. Bridget laughed inwardly.

'This kid is cute too.'

All day long she looked at the girls and judged them on whether they were cute or not.

Millea advised her not to do that and to just look at the personnel records and pick the person.

It suited Millea's temperament to select people based on clear personnel records rather than believing in vague prophecies.

Among them were the daughters of nobles who were friendly with Chancellor Langston, and the daughters of nobles who flattered the Duke of Linchester.

Even Count Nicholas sent his second daughter.

Millea naturally thought that her maid should be chosen from among the daughters of Chancellor Langston's men.

"By the way, His Majesty is late. Have you heard any news?"

"That's the question I wanted to ask Bridget."

Neither of them knew where Julian was or what he was doing.

Bridget was a little distraught.

'I thought we could at least have dinner together today.'

She had some secret time with him last night and this morning.

They left all their thoughts and worries behind and just enjoyed each other.

Bridget felt that their relationship had changed a little since that incident.

She felt like she was getting closer to him.

But seeing him go all day without any contact, she felt disappointed and thought it was just her.

She wondered if she was the only one who blushed and lost focus at work several times today, thinking about him as she remembered what happened last night.

Julian may not have any particular thoughts.

Then suddenly another thought occurred to her.

'Maybe... it's not that you forgot me, but that you can't come?'

He might have a seizure like last time and be lying down somewhere alone.

Bridget swallowed a sigh and suddenly hurriedly sent the maids back to their rooms.

"It's late, everyone go and rest."

Then she whispered to Millea.

"I must go and find Your Majesty."

"Alone?"

"I'll go with Anna. Maybe..."

Bridget kept quiet as she watched the maids file out of the reception room.

"I'm worried."

Millea nodded, understanding what Bridget said.

"Is it so."

Bridget wished that Julian had just ignored her.

It was much better for him to be indifferent to her than to be in pain.

Bridget and Anna came out of the hut and looked up at the sky.

Where is the place where magic gathers?

Finding Julian wasn't difficult.

"Your Majesty."

***

"Your Majesty."

Bridget called out to Julian, who was perched precariously on the roof of the spire, looking down at the night view of the capital.

He looked quite relaxed, leaning against the sloping roof and wiggling his legs, not sure if he was afraid of falling or how he got up there in the first place.

Fortunately, he seemed fine.

He even had a glass of alcohol in his hand.

Julian was so deep in thought that he didn't hear Brigitte's voice.

Bridget called his name a little louder.

"Julian."

Only then did he lower his head and look at her.

"Now it's not just the nanny who's looking for me."

"Can I come up too?"

Julian looked down at Bridget with a strange expression, sighed softly, and gestured.

At his gesture, a staircase of black smoke appeared in front of Bridget in an instant.

It seemed to be a transformation of the Shadow Knight.

'You can make it like this too.'

She was the one who sighed.

'To waste one's life like this?'

Anyway, Bridget carefully stepped onto the stairs.

What she saw was a smoke form, so It seemed like her feet would sink in, but surprisingly, it supported her firmly.

Cognitive dissonance set in and Bridget stumbled a couple of times up the stairs.

It was quite a distance before he reached Julian.

Julian seemed to have no intention of stopping her from staggering.

He just sat there and watched with a mischievous expression on his face. She thinks he thought she would eventually give up and go back.

It was truly an ungentlemanly act. He would never become a well-mannered gentleman even if he were to wake up dead.

Bridget took a few more difficult steps before she felt dizzy.

Suddenly a good idea occurred to her.
