IWLUBCD - Chapter 45

I suddenly remembered what I had seen at the Oroz mansion.

'Maybe the day Elizabeth dies in the original isn't the day the rebellion happened.'

It was a plausible hypothesis.

The male protagonist, the Crown Prince's first love, was only mentioned as having died in a rebellion. It was not explained how or when she died.

So, even though I was still breathing, it was not something I could feel at ease about.

Carsis's mind could have changed in an instant and killed me, or I could have died in a sudden accident.

Whatever it was, as long as I remained in this palace, my end was death.

Furthermore.

‘If they ever find out that I’m not the real Elizabeth...’

I won't be able to die gracefully.

Carsis will definitely try to kill me.

As soon as I thought about it, the hairs on my body stood on end.

As I stopped eating and started shaking, Jenna approached me.

“Oh my, are you cold?”

Did you think I was shivering because of the cold?

She left the room, fussing over whether she would bring a thick blanket.

But no matter what the maid said, a loud alarm bell was ringing in my head.

I need to get out of here as soon as possible.

I couldn't just rely on a precarious peace that could break at any moment.

I looked at the empty spot where Jenna had gone to get a blanket.

Although Jenna was being nice to me now because of Carsis, there was no way to predict when things would change.

‘What should I do with this...'

I couldn't escape the palace on my own right now.

Even if I ask them to send me away, they won't send me away nicely.

Two days ago, the image of the knight who had turned into a cold corpse before my eyes came to mind.

I shook my head quickly as if it was a memory I didn't want to bring up.

'I need someone's help.'

A person who can safely get me out of the palace.

A person who has the power to do it...

'Isaac.'

I needed the help of Isaac, the Master of Linneaus.

It was a good time, as Carsis was out of the palace.

And the opportunity to meet Linneaus came sooner than I expected.

***

It was when I had finished eating.

Jenna said as she transferred the empty bowls to the trolley.

“More importantly, there are no clothes for the young lady to wear in the palace. If I had known this would happen, I would have gotten some clothes in advance.”

Jenna pouted, wondering what was so regrettable.

Only then did I realize that she had been wearing only a thin chemise and not a dress?

Well, the last thing I remember is my wedding dress, it was stained with the blood of an unknown owner.

“Anything is fine with me, so just get whatever you want.”

“No! That can’t be!”

But Jenna answered firmly.

Adding that she can't just dress a precious young lady in anything.

At those words, I was about to drink the tea in front of me absentmindedly.

“There was a fire at the Duke of Cretian’s mansion, so I couldn’t get any clothes from there...”

My hands stopped moving as the maid muttered softly.

'There was a fire at the Cretian mansion...'

Fortunately, it seemed like Linneaus handled things well.

But there was one strange thing.

If the fire had only started in the annex, there wouldn't have been much damage to the main building.

Why can't you bring clothes?

I asked with a creepy feeling.

“A fire in the mansion...? Is the fire that big?”

“It looks like only the annex was burned down, but there was a lot of smoke. Because of that, the inside of the main building was also a mess.”

At those words, I let out a sigh of relief.

If the fire had started in the annex, everyone in the main building would have gone outside to put it out.

There would not have been any major casualties.

'The Duke and Duchess must have escaped safely as well.'

The Duke and Duchess of Cretian would have avoided the wrath of a rebellion if they had asked for the fire to be lit in time for the banquet to begin.

If everything goes according to plan, the two of them will have already fled to the territory.

For now, everyone I wanted to save was safe.

I too, am alive like this, except that I couldn't escape the palace.

'The same goes for Carsis.'

Of course, I didn't expect that the cause of this would be Carsis.

A bitter smile spread across my lips.

Then suddenly Jenna rustled around and unfolded an old dress.

Could it be from the palace storehouse?

Although it was a luxurious dress, it could not hide the old-fashioned feeling that came from the material and decoration.

“You can’t just keep wearing a chemise... I bought a few dresses that look nice from the warehouse. They’re a little out of style, but would you like to wear them? Then I’ll search every single costume shop in the city and find something that would suit you.”

'Wait a minute. The costume shop?'

Where is the headquarters of Linneaus?

It was the most famous costume shop in the capital, 'Dellarrera'.

The corners of my mouth rose slightly.

I didn't miss this opportunity.

“Then, could you please call someone from the Dellarrera costume shop?”

“Is it Dellarrera?”

“If I’m going to get clothes tailored, I want to buy them there. It’s also a place I always frequented when I was at the Duke’s residence.”

Jenna looked at me with a strange look.

But soon, she nodded as if she understood.

“Well, that’s the most famous place in the capital. Yes. I’ll contact the Dellarrera costume shop today.”

Yes

It would be great if Isaac could come as a replacement employee.

Even if Isaac didn't come in person, he could have just secretly passed a note to the staff.

As my thoughts reached that point, hope seemed to arise.

'I should also check with Isaac to see if the Duke and Duchess have evacuated safely.'

And ask him to help me get out of here too...

I asked, fiddling with my teacup for no reason.

“By the way, when did Carsis say he would return?”

“Um... It’ll take about a week. Don’t worry too much. Lord Carsis is strong.”

A week...

It would be nice if we could make contact with Linneas and escape the palace. Without Carsis, the security here would be much more relaxed.

Furthermore, if the palace was emptied to eliminate the remaining forces, it also meant that the best soldiers were not in the palace.

I prayed to meet Isaac soon.

***

Jenna's work was done quickly.

She came into the room with the staff there, scaring me when she mentioned the Dellarrera costume shop.

“Oh, hello. My name is Sarah from Dellarrera.”

But disappointingly, it wasn't Isaac who came to the palace. Standing next to Jenna was a young female employee who wasn't even 20 years old.

An employee named Sarah seemed so frightened by something that she couldn't even meet my eyes.

Well, everyone must be scared by the rebellion that just happened, so it's natural for them to react like that.

Meanwhile, a woman was peacefully getting my dress tailored in the palace.

Anyone who looks at it will feel like they're the final boss.

I let out a laugh to myself.

'More than that, isn't that person an employee who has no connection to Linneas?'

Judging by her scared and trembling appearance, she seemed to have no relation to Linneas at all.

Then it's a little difficult.

I fiddled with the note I had prepared to give to the staff at Dellarrera when they came.

'Even if he's not Linneas, she knows who Isaac is, right?'

Even if she doesn't know the name, Isaac, she'll know he's a man with silver hair and blue eyes.

Sarah approached me, timidly.

Then she took out a measuring tape and said.

“Oh, Miss. Then I will measure you.”

It was when Sarah approached me, holding a measuring tape.

I suddenly cleared my throat, pretending to have a sore throat.

“Jenna. Can you get me some water? I’m suddenly thirsty.”

“Yes, I understand.”

While Jenna was looking away for a moment to get some water.

I whispered quietly to Sarah, who was nearby.

“Tell this to the man with silver hair and blue eyes.”

"...Yes?"

Sarah's eyes widened as she received the note that I had handed her.

But soon, as I heard Jenna's footsteps getting closer, I unconsciously put the note in my pocket. I tried my best to act as if nothing had happened.

I too, surrendered myself to Sarah's touch as if nothing had happened.

A little later.

Sarah stood up from her seat, closing the book she had written her measurements in as if she ware done.

“I’ve taken all the measurements. First, I’ll alter the ready-made garment I made and send it to you. Right now, it’s not easy to get good quality fabric...”

Because the rebellion broke out suddenly, the supply of goods will not be smooth.

I nodded, as I had expected this.

“Yes. Please do it as soon as possible.
