THIBV - Chapter 71

Eric's warm silence quickly calmed me.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you, but I look so embarrassed."

I smiled awkwardly, wiping my tears with the handkerchief he held out.

"Oddly enough. It's hard to control my emotions when it comes to family issues."

"Because they are the people who were born and grew up together. You can't help but love them and because you love them, they hurt you more. That's what family is."

Eric had the look of a transcendent man.

From that expression, I could feel how much he had been hurt by his parents.

I couldn't have a heavy conversation anymore.

"Now I really need to go see the guests downstairs."

I sighed.

How shameful it is to invite people to a banquet like this and then find out about domestic strife.

Eric held out his arm and whispered.

"You can just go down as if nothing happened. What happened here is something only we know. Just hold my arm and talk about anything. It seems natural."

I, encouraged by his escort, left the powder room.

When told to talk about anything, I resumed the conversation with a thank you.

"Thank you for coming to the banquet, Sir Eric. It gives me strength."

"Of course, I should come. I also wanted to talk to Madam. When I heard the news about Madwm, I was surprised in many ways."

Eric was surprised twice: once when Bridget became the subject of gossip and once when she was announced as the King's mistress.

"I was wondering if you were okay and how you were doing."

"I think my curiosity will be satisfied if we hold a banquet."

Eric gazed at Bridget's gentle smile without her knowing.

His curiosity was not resolved at all.

How could Viscount Winston have had the slightest thought of a woman Iike this?

Also, is Julian really good to Bridget?

Eric knew Julian well.

Because the two grew up like brothers since childhood.

Julian has always been unsophisticated. He was sensitive and rough.

Of course, he also knew that his environment made him that way and that his inner self was different from his outer appearance.

But Julian didn't have the personality to make a woman happy.

Eric was the type of person who believed that a lover should be infinitely gentle and affectionate no matter the situation.

It never occurred to him that Julian could do that.

'Besides, Julian can't protect his woman.'

The fact that Millea is worried that Julian might suddenly die one day is proof of this.

He is a man who will be leaving soon.

Eric thought it was Inevitable that Julian would fall for Bridget because she was such an attractive woman.

However, he assessed that bringing her to the palace as a government official was extremely selfish.

'If Julian truly loved her, he should have kept her away from him. In the end, he would have made her unhappy.''

Before he blames Julian, Isaac is the most foolish person who had his wife stolen by the King...

There is no one so foolish as a man who lusts after another woman while his wife is away.

How pathetic is that man who even gave his wife to another man?

If it were Eric, he would have risked his life to protect his wife. If he couldn't do that, he would rather die.

Despite his feelings, Eric simply smiled affectionately. For Bridget.

"How is Sir Eric's health these days?"

Bridget whispered before stepping onto the stairs leading down to the first floor.

She couldn't help but talk about his important issues.

"I think Mrs. Winston would know better. How do I look?"

Bridget examined the magi attached to Eric.

"It looks much better than before."

"Right?"

"But I'll take care of it again after the banquet is over."

Eric was about to say thank you politely when he suddenly felt a commotion on the first floor.

A servant was heard shouting from outside on the steps.

"His Majesty the King is here!"

Why is it that I suddenly feel ill-tempered?

So he threw a joke at Bridget just before she lost Interest down there.

"I don't know how much I need treatment. I've been having a new nightmare lately, and now instead of my mother breaking down, she's nagging me as if I'm going to break down. "You're not even a patient anymore. how long are you going to be squatting in the mansion?""

Bridget burst out laughing at the exaggerated imitation.

Julian, who was entering the banquet hall in search of Bridget, discovered the two.

He paused.

As Julian stopped, the attendants following him also stopped at once.

"..."

Bridget was smiling.

Everyone's eyes were on him, but Bridget's eyes were on someone else.

She laughed cutely, wondering what was so funny.

It was a completely relaxed look for the affectionate Eric.

Julian's judgment was twisted. He looked at Eric with a cold, indifferent gaze.

The two grew up together.

Just the subtlest of Eric's expressions and actions allowed Julian to discern his intentions.

He knew how Eric liked and won people's hearts. He also knew what type of women he preferred.

'You dare.'

The two men's gazes met meaningfully.

Eric smiled at Julian.

Julian didn't laugh.

Only then did Bridget look at Julian.

"Your Majesty."

As Brigitte took the last step, Julian stretched his arm between them, naturally pushing Eric back and wrapping his arms around Bridget.

Eric was funny. He was also annoyed at Bridget, who just laughed at him.

'It's light.'

He had a burning desire to annoy her and harass her.

But the place wasn't good. Bridget was always by his side, so later.

Now, Julian wanted to show Eric how meaningless he was to Bridget.

Julian stood close to Bridget, her gaze completely filled with his own.

Then he spoke affectionately in a voice that everyone could hear.

"You look beautiful today, Bridget."

He kissed Bridget's round forehead.

Bridget seemed a little surprised, but Julian paid her no mind and moved slowly.

People were amazed by his ostentatious display of affection.

Kissing your lover on the forehead is not a big deal.

But it would be surprising if that was what the heartless murderer Julian Blake did at a public event.

Eric was also secretly surprised.

He felt himself shrinking under Julian's haughty gaze as he continued to kiss Bridget.

Julian must have noticed it too. Eric could see him snorting.

If he avoided eye contact, he would lose. But Eric could not dare to beat Julian.

He bit his lip and turned away.

'Tsk. That kid.'

Julian, who was satisfied, soon became generous.

Any desire to be angry at Bridget has also melted away.

Instead, he felt like taking advantage of the current mood and pretending to be a kind lover to Bridget today.

"Am I late?"

"No, you came on time."

"Did you cry? Your eyes are red."

"Some circumstances."

"Victor Winston ran away when he saw me."

"I'll deal with him later."

Julian silently wrapped his arm around Brigitte's shoulder.

Bridget noticed that the affectionate Julian was acting moody.

'What could be the reason this time?'

She doesn't know. This kind of attitude is not new.

He was a difficult person to get a hold of, and Bridget loved him even for that reason.

Even now, his capricious affection was welcome.

Julian came along at just the right time.

His kiss was sudden, but it was a relief in this situation.

Because she could cover up the shame of her domestic strife being made public with the sense of superiority that came from being the recipient of the affection of someone with such high authority.

It was a shallow feeling, but it was sweet and warm and she couldn't refuse it.

Thanks to Julian, the nobles seemed to have already forgotten about Chloe's commotion.

Some looked at her with envy, while others seemed to be recalibrating Bridget's social standing and evaluation in their own heads.

Julian may have been a simple whim, but thanks to him, power was placed on Bridget's shoulders.
