TCIWTFY - Part 2 Chapter 9

"Remember, Rachel. You must take everything and make it yours. You must not leave that woman a chance to survive, and you must not repeat the same foolish mistake as this mother."

The last words of her mother, who had been holding his wrist painfully and urging her, overlapped the voice that was repeating angrily.

"Remember, you will never forget your mother's words!"

Rachel's mother was a priestess of the Shadeia tribe.

The goddess who descended to the primordial continent needed to be presentative to convey her words to humans. So she chose one human and fed him her blood, sharing her omnipotent powers including prophecy and healing.

The human's name was Shadeia.

The first Saintess that the Holy Nation seeks in mythology is simply a being created in the image of the primordial Shadeia.

Shadeia closed her eyes after helping the goddess drive away the darkness and create a home for humans.

And over the generations, her lineage inherited the position of deputy.

The agent was called a 'shaman' by humans.

The goddess' blood, which had faded over thousands of years, could no longer exert powerful omnipotence, but Shadeia still carried on the primordial lineage.

And when it came to the time of Medea's mother, Selene, a revelation came to the priestess of that time.

[Venus is covered in the fog of di saster. When the darkness that carries misfortune is driven away, only then will the full light illuminate the world.]

On the night that Venus' orbit intersected with the Light Saints, as prophesied, the daughter of a priestess of the time gave birth to a child and died. The tribe named the child Selene and called her the 'Child of Prophecy'.

Selene had a maid named Lilith, an orphan taken in from the desert by a priestess of the time.

"My granddaughter and you are the same age and birthday. This is a fate sent by the goddess."

Lilith remained by Selene's side as a faithful maid and friend, and Selene treated her like family.

But she always had one question.

"I was also born in the city of light, so why am I not a child of prophecy?"

She was the same age and birth date, but the only difference between her and Selene was her bloodline. The question soon became a wish, and it grew to an unstoppable size.

Is it really possible to go against the prophecy?"

"Oh, the maid doesn't yet know the omnipotence of black magic. Why do you think the goddess was so determined to banish the darkness? It must be so powerful that even the Gods fear it."

To the point where Lilith eventually goes to the black magician and touches taboos that should not be done.

"Trust us, we will make you a priestess of Shadeia."

Finally, the release was decided.

If the prophecy had not chosen her, then to taken it into her own hands.

"Sob, sob. Lady Selene! What should I do about this!"

He tricked Selene into marking her with a black magic mark and accused her to the tribe of breaking the taboo.

"Black magic! Selene, how could you do this!"

In a cunning scheme. Selene's qualifications as a priestess were questioned and she was banished from the tribe.

"The Child of Prophecy would never touch black magic. Perhaps we misinterpreted the prophecy?"

"They say that the girl who serves Selene also has the same birth time. Could it be that the prophecy is not referring to Selene?"

In this way, Lilith succeeded in becoming the priestess of Shadeia.

But is this the goddess's punishment for the tribe that failed to recognize the true representative? A series of disasters befell the Shadeia tribe.

They were attacked by hordes of demons and were caught in floods and storms. Those who barely survived lost their lives to the persecution of the Holy Kingdom.

Lilith, who was promoted to priestess in place of Selene, was unable to foresee any of them.

Eventually, the tribe was wiped out. Only then did they realize.

"The release was fake! That's why the goddess is angry!"

Fearing that her, actions would be discovered, Lilith abandoned her tribe and fled to the warlocks.

And then she found out.

That she had not taken anything away from Selene's fate.

"Did you know? Selene became the Queen of Valdina."

"What?"

The release was disappointing.

Her master, who was loved by the damned goddess, was driven out of the tribe, but instead of becoming miserable, she became more noble and happier.

It's incomparable to the release that had to follow the warlocks and wander under the water.

The release was unbearable.

This can't be right. I stole her destiny, so why is it still the same?

Why is Selene still in the bright light and I can't escape this damp darkness?

"I should have killed her then..."

Only then did Lilith realize her mistake.

The reason why she couldn't use the goddess's power even though she had the orbit that should have been Selene's.

"I should have taken that woman's life! Only then would Selene's fate have been completely mine!"

At that time, she was only focused on becoming a priestess and sent Selene away, which was a great regret.

Soon after, Selene was killed by the enemy.

But the release wasn't happy at all.

Because Lilith, who was unable to take her life directly, can no longer interfere with Selene's fate.

"Don't worry. You still have a chance. Your daughter can shoulder the burden of this karmic knot that you failed to complete."

This was her daughter's chance to achieve the destiny she had never been able to grasp.

Selene and Lilith.

And their daughters, Medea and Rachel.

In a life-and-death situation where you have to take or be taken, coexistence was impossible for either side.

"Rachel, don't forget. To make her orbit yours, you have to take everything away from her: her family, her affections, her accomplishments, everything. Even her death!"

Until the moment she closed her eyes, Lilith had been praying for her daughter. She hoped that her daughter would not make the same foolish mistakes as she had.

"Don't worry, Mom. I haven't forgotten."

Rachel muttered quietly, looking into the mirror.

Ssss...

That was when.

The round pendant in front of her radiated heat. Rachel opened it. The sacred image of the goddess that should have been inside had turned black.

"Is the King here yet?"

A rough metallic sound came from within the pendant.

"Not yet. But the Agemas are almost successful."

Rachel answered. The way they seemed surprisingly familiar.

"I've left a mark, so once the brainwashing stabilizes, I'll move as you command."

The power she had so graciously bestowed upon the knights was in fact intended to mark them with black magic.

"Don't increase the number of markers too much. Don't waste your precious energy without even reaching the most important target."

Even though she had succeeded in brainwashing the Agemas, the pendant's voice did not show any joy. Instead, she urged Rachel not to abuse her fake powers too much.

Brainwashing created with black magic was as powerful as it was short-lived. It had the fatal flaw of weakening its effectiveness if the brainwashing was not repeated periodically.

This was the reason why Rachel continued to hover around Peleus and Agemas even after arriving in Valdina.

"The Knights Templar will be arriving soon. You don't plan on leaving empty-handed, do you? Do you know how much sacrifice was required to create the wave?"

Finally, Rachel couldn't stand it anymore and lost her temper.

"I know, but what can I do if things don't go my way?"

Peleus, King of Baldina, was a man of truly tiresome mental strength.

Even D'Angel, the leader of the royal guard, had almost come over, but this 'holy slayer' did not give the black magic any reason to consume him for the time being.

The boundary, as solid and high as the King's ice wall, never became thinner.

Even though Rachel was the one who saved his life.

'Why on earth... This can't be happening...'

This is the first time that neither her salvation nor her good deeds have worked.

In the meantime, after arriving at Valdina, he refused to even try to be purified, so even attempts to leave a mark were blocked.
