IWLUBCD - Chapter 11

'Oh, this XX.'

It's a shame that I ended up getting my hands on a book like this.

I was so embarrassed that I wanted to hide in a hole right away.

“I picked this up wrong too... haha.”

I just smiled awkwardly and tried to put the book back on the shelf.

The Crown Prince snatched the book away and said.

“I’ll take this book. My fiancée is looking forward to it. I can’t disappoint her. Right?”

As my face turned red at those words, he stroked my head.

“I’m joking, Ellie.”

I looked up at the man stroking my hair with affectionate hands.

A nickname called 'Ellie' is used only by family members.

Acting without hesitation, like an old friend.

"Young Lady is truly a lucky lady. To marry such a handsome and kind man. Most noble ladies marry for political reasons, but this time, you are marrying for love! And to His Highness the Crown Prince! All the noble ladies of the empire, no, all women, will envy her."

Suddenly, the voice of the maid who had been chattering lingered in my ears.

'I just thought it was a political marriage.'

There are also cases where political marriages are disguised as love marriages.

I thought that maybe the love story between Ellie and the Crown Prince was just a made-up story.

Because the Elizabeth we've discovered so far is a true villainess without any blood or tears.

But the affectionate gaze of the man looking at me showed that the rumor was not false.

They seem to be quite close.

“Ellie?”

Was it because the reply was too late?

The Crown Prince asked as if something was wrong.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Your Highness. I was just thinking about something else for a moment...”

Then the Crown Prince put his hand on one of my cheeks.

“Why are you suddenly calling me Your Highness? Why don’t you call me Eren? Is there something that’s bothering you about me?”

The Crown Prince was the complete opposite of Carsis.

If Carsis had a wild and rough feel, the Crown Prince was aristocratic and affectionate.

'I don't know Elizabeth's tastes.'

The two men she's seeing have such polar opposite personalities.

I clicked my tongue inwardly.

“Sorry. I’ve been so busy.”

He hugged me tightly.

My fiancé, the Crown Prince of the empire.

“Let’s go. Everyone will be waiting.”

He was a man with a warm smile like spring sunshine.

I was suddenly led by the Crown Prince's hand to the dining room.

'You seem to have a much better personality than that.'

The soft voice and the nicely curved corners of the eyes seemed to tell the story of the man's personality.

'It's so different from the image I had in mind.'

The man I thought would be a punk turned out to be surprisingly different from my expectations.

'His face is also incredibly handsome.'

It was a perfect face that made me believe he was the male protagonist.

A person with distinct facial features but who appears gentle.

If that man smiled, it seemed like even a heartless woman would feel a little excited.

'Thank goodness. I was worried that he would be really ugly or have a bad personality.'

A man who is worthy of being the male protagonist is my fiancé.

I haven't figured out the exact personality yet, but so far it's been 500 out of 100.

“What are you looking at like that?”

Was I staring too intently?

The Crown Prince asked with an awkward smile.

“Because you’re handsome.”

"Uh?"

Oh. My true feelings came out without me knowing.

“Ah, that. Just now. That was...”

I blushed, feeling embarrassed by my mistake.

“Then look at it as much as you want. After all, this face is yours.”

Oh my God.

How dare you even say something like that.

'Even the answer is perfect.'

The Crown Prince's stock was rising in my mind.

I prayed to myself over and over again that this man would be sane.

***

The Duke and Duchess were already sitting at the table as if they had been waiting for the two of us.

Hazel, Duchess of Chetian and Elizabeth's mother greeted the two with a bright expression.

“Oh my, I was just looking for Ellie because I couldn’t see her. Your Highness is with her.”

“Oh, Ma’am, maybe we were bothering you two for nothing.”

It seemed that the Duke and Duchess, the Crown Prince, and Ellie had previously agreed to dine together that evening.

I said with an awkward smile towards the Duke and Duchess, who looked at her with amusement and made a joke.

“Sorry I’m late, have you been waiting for a long time?”

“No, please sit down. Your Highness Ernest, please sit down too.”

The Crown Prince sat down first, and the Duke and Duchess and I followed him.

And as if they had been waiting, as plates of food were placed on the table one by one, they began to chat.

“In about two months, our Ellie’s twenty-fifth birthday party will be held. This birthday is going to be bigger and more extravagant than ever before.”

'I guess my birthday is coming up.'

But I just continued to toss My salad indifferently, even though the topic was my birthday.

“Yes. That’s right. It’s our Ellie’s last birthday as the daughter of the Duke of Cretian, so we have to do that.”

“I even skipped my one and only engagement ceremony. This time, I absolutely can’t just skip it.”

“I’m sorry. If I hadn’t had a pressing schedule at the time, I wouldn’t have had to skip the engagement ceremony. Sorry, Ellie.”

"No."

I've seen cases in other books where the engagement party was omitted.

Usually, an engagement is established just by exchanging documents.

I looked at the Crown Prince, picking a tomato with a fork and putting it in my mouth.

'By the way, his name was Ernest.'

The days were passing by so quickly that I didn't even think to look up my fiancé's name.

'No way. After dinner, I have to go straight to the library and get all the books I need.'

I continued eating, thinking that since the wedding was just around the corner, I should quickly fill in the details I didn't know.

“Oh, and I was wondering if we could start the Crown Princess’ preparatory classes a week later. What do Ellie and the Duke and Duchess think?”

“Is this a preparatory class?”

“Now that I think about it, it’s about time we did it.”

From what I've heard, it seems like the Crown Princess Preparatory Course is a place where noble ladies learn simple imperial etiquette before becoming the Crown Princess. After becoming the Crown Princess, they receive training to become Empresses in the future or something.

'But I've only seen the etiquette of nobles in novels. Is that okay?'

Already, worries were coming in like a tidal wave. And as if that expression was showing on my face, the Crown Prince smiled and said.

“Don’t worry too much. Ellie, Baroness Caroline, who will be your instructor, has worked in the palace for over 30 years. She’s a very good person.”

Ernest reassured me, perhaps because a worried expression was on my face.

“Yeah, you can do it, Ellie.”

“Yes. Don’t worry, Father, Mother.”

I smiled faintly at the Duke and Duchess' encouragement.

'It's frustrating because there's still a lot I don't know, but it'll all get better as I learn more. And.'

I, who decided to think positively, slowly looked around.

A friendly atmosphere.

A marriage blessed by everyone.

Affectionate parents and a fiancé who loves me.

Everything around me was peaceful and perfect.

On the surface.

***

After dinner, before the Crown Prince leaves the mansion.

I and Ernest were walking in the garden together.

'It's a little cold.'

It was spring after winter, but the weather was still chilly, so I rubbed my arms with my hands.

Then a warm jacket was draped over my shoulders.

“I think it’s cold.”

"Thank you."

Even the speed of his walk and the length of his strides, the man's meticulous consideration for every little thing made me feel sorry for having thought of the Crown Prince as a brat, even if only for a moment.

As I smiled quietly at him, Ernest spoke in a soft voice.

“Thank you, Ellie.”

“What is it?”

“For marry me.”

Ernest stopped walking and met my eyes.

A kind man with dazzling golden hair that resembles the sun and warm red eyes.

I'm sure this is the first time I'm seeing you today.

'Strangely enough, I don't hate this guy.'

My hair is tousled by the gentle breeze.

Then Ernest pushed my disheveled hair behind my ear.

My ears turned slightly red at the touch of his affectionate hands.

“I promise. I will make you the happiest woman in the empire.”
