Trap (12)
The private room was comfortably furnished.
A sofa large enough to sleep on and a mahogany table. On one side, various desserts and drinks were prepared.
In addition to the main space, there was also a dressing room and bathroom, so it was perfect for a day or so.
"Hmm, well, it's not too bad."
While Nadia carefully looked around the private room, I sat down on the sofa with Rahon's help.
Anton, who had followed us, was standing near the entrance with his head bowed.
Baba bowed his head to Rajon.
"The Savior', please follow me. I will guide you to a private room."
"Do I have my own private room?"
"You can't be in the same space alone with a woman, right?"
Rahon tilted his head at the somewhat cold response. He glanced at Anton and grabbed my hand.
"Millenia, are you okay being alone?"
"Alone? Nadia is here and the Grand Duke is here too."
"If there's a problem, send Nadia right away."
"No, don't come until I call you."
Rahon raised his eyebrows.
"Again? Are you going to keep making me bleed?"
"I can't ask someone for help every time I have a problem. I have to solve it myself."
"You need to rely on others? You want to shoulder everything on your own."
"I tried, but... it didn't work out well. I'm sorry."
Rahon let out a sigh into the air. He closed his eyes tightly, then opened them and stroked my hair.
"Yes, how can I beat you? I know, so don't make that face. I'll do as you say."
"Thank you, Lord Rahon. Lionel, please make sure no one enters my private room."
"All right."
Rahon and Baba went out. I looked around deliberately and asked.
"Nadia, has the Grand Duke gone out? I don't feel any movement."
"No, he stays over there."
"Can you bring him over here?"
"Yes, Miss."
Anton, who had been standing awkwardly, approached Nadia hesitantly, drawn by her gaze.
Nadia asked him as he slowly moved to sit across from me.
"Your Highness, how should I prepare the tea?"
"Uh, water please."
"You don't have to prepare mine, Nadia."
"I will do that."
Anton let out a long sigh as he drank the cold water Nadia had brought him. Tension filled his dark face.
"What I want to ask is..."
"Your Highness."
"... Yes?"
I put my hand on my thigh and spoke calmly.
"It is easy to answer your question. But what about you, Your Highness?"
"Yes?"
"Can you believe everything I said?"
"..."
"No, of course not. I am just a third party to Your Highness. No matter what I say, there will still be some doubt."
Boom!
Anton roughly put down his glass of water.
"Then what do you want me to do! I... Do you think I am here because I want to be? Guardian, you don't even know what's on my mind right now!"
"I know."
"...Oh, you know?"
"Of all the people here, I think I am the one who understands the Grand Duke the best."
In my past life, I didn't believe all the bad things I heard about Oslo. It wasn't until I experienced it myself that I realized it was all true.
The price of late enlightenment was too high. Not only me but my family was wiped out.
Of course, no one could blame me, since it was something I had brought upon myself.
That's why I wanted to help Anton. So that he wouldn't make a stupid choice like I did and lose someone so precious to him.
"There is still time."
"Wh, what time are you talking about?"
"It's time to turn away from the truth."
Anton shut his mouth.
"If you knew the truth it wouId be extremely painful. It would be a pain that you wouldn't even know when it would end."
"..."
"So if you leave here right now, nothing will happen. You can just continue living as you are now."
"Ha, but..."
I smiled at Anton, who looked confused.
"Yes, you will continue to have doubts. Was my choice really the right one? Does she really love me? You will not be able to shake off these worries."
Anton sighed.
Maybe he expected this day would come.
To the point where he hid from Sierra the fact that he had been healed by Rahon without even knowing it.
But he still hesitated. Because he didn't have the confidence to be left alone again. Even though he knew it was a fake relationship.
"We can't keep our eyes closed forever. Your Highness will soon learn."
"..."
"It was all a lie."
There is nothing eternal in this world.
Just as in my past lives, they revealed their true colors as soon as they achieved their goals, it was the same in this life.
As soon as Sierra marries Anton, she will take off her mask.
"Choose, Your Highness. Either a short and false happiness, or a long and painful truth."
"There's no benefit to choosing the truth."
"Instead, it would be good for those who truly love the Grand Duke."
Anton smiled weakly.
"Who would love someone like me..."
"It's the Prime Minister of Halshtail. He is truly concerned about the Grand Duke."
"..."
"You didn't know?"
Anton was silent for a moment and then ordered Nadia a glass of water.
"Here you are, Your Highness."
"Thank you."
He took out a small pouch from his bosom and looked at it carefully. Soon, he closed his eyes tightly. put the black pill in his mouth, and drank water in gulps.
After a while, Anton opened his eyes.
It seems that he has sorted out his emotions. His eyes, free of confusion, are quite resolute.
"...I will choose the truth."
At that moment, it became noisy outside.
It seemed like Baba was stopping Sierra from going inside.
Anton must have heard that sound too, his eyes wide open. I opened my mouth to face him, who was fidgeting in embarrassment.
"As I said before, you may not be able to completely believe what I say. So, please listen to it yourself."
"Uh, how can I say that? Even if I ask, it's clear she won't tell me the truth..."
"Nadia, take the Grand Duke to the dressing room."
Nadia led Anton to the dressing room and then went out. In the meantime, I moved to the seat where Anton had been sitting.
The commotion suddenly stopped. Soon Sierra came running into the private room.
"Your Highness!"
Sierra stopped as she came in. She seemed embarrassed to see me sitting alone, contrary to her expectations.
"Why are you alone? Where did the Grand Duke go?"
"He came all the way here, but he suddenly left, saying something urgent came up."
"...Yes?"
Contrary to her answer, Sierra searched the private room with her eyes.
I watched the scene and slowly drank the water Anton left behind.
As I put down the glass of water with a thud, Sierra turned her head.
Large eyes scan the table with only one water glass, checking for empty teacups.
She sat down in front of me, convinced that Anton was no longer there.
Then she fanned herself leisurely.
I think I've bought some time right now. If I just have a little bit of time, it won't be a problem to roast Anton.
The sweet smell of perfume made me feel nauseous. For the first time, I held my nose in front of Sierra.
"That what kind of rude thing is that? As if I stink."
"You might not know. People are Insensitive to their own body odor."
Sierra lowered her head slightly and sniffed for her scent. But she sniffed as if she couldn't smell anything.
"Stop nitpicking and just say what you want to say. You must have been itching to swear at me for so long, so just say it."
"I don't know why you think that. Why should I curse you?"
Sierra folded the fan and slammed it down on the table.
"Then why did you bring up that incident in front of the Grand Duke?"
"That incident. Oh, you mean the incident where you stole my jewelry?"
Sierra crossed her arms and asked.
"You did that on purpose?"
"What?"
"You knew I was taking the jewelry, but you pretended not to know."
"Why me?"
"Because I stole your man! So you deliberately let me steal the jewelry to get revenge on me!"
"..."
"Honestly, isn't that your fault? If you had captured the Third Prince so well, would he have turned his eyes to me? It's not my fault that you're unattractive as a woman, is it?"
So you were confident in front of me?
It's my fault that Oslo cheated on me, and it's my fault that you stole the jewelry.
Sierra looked me up and down.
"Yes, you seem to be concerned about your appearance these days. But nothing has changed. You lack sexiness as a woman. Your voice is low and blunt. His Highness the Third Prince said that even a piece of wood would be softer than you."
"..."
"It seems like the 'Savior' is now in high spirits because he seems to love you, but don't get me wrong. That man is famous for being greedy for money. He approached you because of your money."
"..."
"The same goes for little Duke Eldern. He is only treating you well because you helped his land. As for His Highness the First Prince, well, it goes without saying. He would lick your feet if he could just sit on the throne."
Sierra laughed at me.
"Do you understand, Millenia? No one truly loves you."
